In this contribution we present results from the NLO computation of the production of a $W$ boson in association with three jets in hadronic collisions. The results are obtained by combining two programs: {\tt BlackHat} for the virtual one-loop matrix elements and {\tt Sherpa} for the real-emission contributions. We present results for the Tevatron and the LHC, and address the issue of the choice of a common factorization and renormalization scale for this process.
In this paper we complete our calculation of the NLO jet vertex which is part of the cross section formulae for the production of Mueller Navelet jets at hadron hadron colliders and of forward jets in deep inelastic electron proton scattering.
In this contribution recent results regarding the NLO electroweak corrections for vector boson production in association with jets are presented. Besides discussing the phenomenology of the fixed-order results, their corporation in existing NLO QCD parton shower matched and merged calculations, which can directly be used in experimental analyses, will be shown.
We present the full NLO QCD corrections to the production of a W^+W^- pair in association with two jets in hadronic collisions, which is an important background to New Physics and Higgs boson searches. We include leptonic decays of the W-bosons with full spin correlations. We find NLO corrections of the order of 10% for standard cuts at the LHC. The scale dependence is considerably reduced by the NLO corrections.
In this contribution we study azimuthal angle decorrelation in inclusive dijet cross sections taking into account the next-to-leading (NLO) corrections to the BFKL kernel while keeping the jet vertices at leading order. We show how the angular decorrelation for jets with a wide relative separation in rapidity largely decreases when the NLO corrections are included.
We present next-to-leading order corrections in the leading colour approximation for jet rates in electron-positron annihilation up to seven jets. The results for the two-, three-, and four-jet rates agree with known results. The NLO jet rates have been known previously only up to five jets. The results for the six- and seven-jet rate are new. The results are obtained by a new and efficient method based on subtraction and numerical integration.
In this talk the application of the recently introduced methods to merge NLO calculations of successive jet multiplicities to the production of top pairs in association with jets will be discussed, in particular a fresh look is taken at the top quark forward-backward asymmetries. Emphasis will be put on the achieved theoretical accuracy and the associated perturbative and non-perturbative error estimates.
In these proceedings we present results from a recent calculation for the production of a W boson in conjunction with five jets at next-to-leading order in perturbative QCD. We also use results at lower multiplicities to extrapolate the cross section to the same process with six jets.
We report on the calculation of the cross section for Higgs boson production in association with three jets via gluon fusion, at next-to-leading-order (NLO) accuracy in QCD, in the infinite top-mass approximation. After including the complete NLO QCD corrections, we observe a strong reduction in the scale dependence of the result, and an increased steepness in the transverse momentum distributions of both the Higgs and the leading jets. The results are obtained with the combined use of GoSam, Sherpa, and the MadDipole/MadEvent framework.
The photoproduction of large-p_T charged hadrons and of prompt photons is discussed, for the inclusive case and with an associated jet, using predictions from the NLO partonic Monte Carlo program EPHOX. Comparisons to recent HERA data are also shown.
In this talk we report on first results from the NLO computation of Z production in association with five jets in hadron-hadron collisions. The results are obtained with the help of the numerical method, where apart from the phase space integration also the integration over the loop momentum is performed numerically. In addition we discuss several methods and techniques for the improvement of the Monte Carlo integration.
We compute the differential and total rate of the semileptonic decay of polarized top-quarks $t\to \ell ν_\ell + b{\rm jet} + {\rm jet}$ at next-to-leading order (NLO) in the QCD coupling with an off-shell intermediate $W$ boson. We present several normalized distributions, in particular those that reflect the $t$-spin analyzing powers of the lepton, the b-jet and the $W^+$ boson at LO and NLO QCD.
We present results for the QCD production of Z/γ + 2 jets matched with parton showers using the POWHEG method. Some technicalities relevant for the merging of NLO corrections for this process with parton showers are discussed, and results for typical distributions are shown, in presence of different sets of cuts. A comparison with ATLAS data is also presented, and good agreement is found.
After reviewing the main features of the GoSam framework for automated one-loop calculations, we present a selection of recent phenomenological results obtained with it. In particular, we focus on the recent calculation of NLO QCD corrections to the production of a Higgs boson in conjunction with jets at the LHC.
In this contribution we present recent progress in the computation of next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections for the production of an electroweak vector boson in association with jets at hadron colliders. We focus on results obtained using the virtual matrix element library BLACKHAT in conjunction with SHERPA, focusing on results relevant to understanding the background to top production.
We present the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the production of a photon pair in association with one or two jets. This class of processes constitutes an important background for Higgs physics at the LHC. For the one jet process we include photon fragmentation contributions and perform a comparison between different photon isolation criteria and various isolation parameters. The two jet calculation has been performed using a smooth cone isolation criterion. We find that the NLO QCD corrections are substantial and can lead to distortions of differential distributions.
We present a study of higher order QCD corrections beyond NLO to processes with electroweak vector bosons. We focus on the regions of high transverse momenta of commonly used differential distributions. We employ the LoopSim method, combined with NLO packages, VBFNLO and MCFM, to merge the NLO samples with different multiplicities, in order to compute the dominant part of the NNLO corrections at high pT. We find that these corrections are indeed substantial, in the 30%-100% range, for a number of experimentally relevant observables. For other observables, they lead to significant reduction of …
We calculate the next-to-leading corrections to the jet vertex which is relevant for the Mueller-Navelet-jets production in p-pbar collisions and for the forward jet cross section in e-p collisions. In this first part we present the results of the vertex for an incoming quark. Particular emphasis is given to the separation of the collinear divergent part and the central region of the produced gluon.
A new next-to-leading order Monte Carlo program for the calculation of fully differential jet cross sections in photoproduction is described. The contributions from both resolved and direct components are included. A comparison between the theoretical predictions and ZEUS data is presented.
We present a method for calculating the photoproduction of jets at HERA based on Next to Leading Logarithm QCD calculations. It is implemented in a Monte-Carlo generator which allows us to easily compute any infra-red safe cross sections for 1 or 2 jet observables using various jet reconstruction algorithms. We focus on the possibility of extracting the gluon contents of the photon and of the proton from present and future H1 and ZEUS data.
We present the matching between a next-to-leading order computation in QCD and the PYTHIA parton shower Monte Carlo, according to the MC@NLO formalism. We study the case of initial-state radiation, and consider in particular single vector boson hadroproduction.
We summarize recent progress in next-to-leading order QCD calculations made using the Monte Carlo MCFM. In particular, we focus on the calculations of p anti-p -> W b-bbar, Z b-bbar and highlight the significant corrections to background estimates for Higgs searches in the channels WH and ZH at the Tevatron. We also report on the current progress of, and strategies for, the calculation of the process p anti-p -> W/Z + 2 jets.
We calculate in the next-to-leading order the impact factor (vertex) for the production of a forward high-$p_T$ jet, in the approximation of small aperture of the jet cone in the pseudorapidity-azimuthal angle plane. The final expression for the vertex turns out to be simple and easy to implement in numerical calculations.
Achieving a precise description of multi-parton final states is crucial for many analyses at LHC. In this contribution we review the main features of the HELAC-NLO system for NLO QCD calculations. As a case study, NLO QCD corrections for tt + 2 jet production at LHC are illustrated and discussed.
A report on the recent next-to-leading order QCD calculations to t anti-t b anti-b and t anti-t + 2j processes at the CERN Large Hardon Collider is presented. Results for integrated and differential cross sections are given. A significant reduction of the scale dependence is observed in both cases, which indicates that the perturbative expansion is well under control. The results are obtained in the framework of the HELAC-NLO system.
We report on the calculation of $W^\pm Zjj$ production with leptonic decays at hadron-hadron colliders at next-to-leading order in QCD. These processes are important both to test the quartic gauge couplings of the Standard Model and because they constitute relevant backgrounds to beyond standard model physics searches. Our results show that the next-to-leading order corrections reduce significantly the scale uncertainties and have a non-trivial phase space dependence.
We present the calculations necessary to obtain next-to-leading order QCD precision with the Herwig++ event generator using the MC@NLO approach, and implement them for all the processes that were previously available from Fortran HERWIG with MC@NLO. We show a range of results comparing the two implementations. With these calculations and recent developments in the automatic generation of NLO matrix elements, it will be possible to obtain NLO precision with Herwig++ for a much wider range of processes
We present the calculation of the NLO QCD corrections to the associated production of a Higgs boson and two jets, in the infinite top-mass limit. We discuss the technical details of the computation and we show the numerical impact of the radiative corrections on several observables at the LHC. The results are obtained by using a fully automated framework for fixed order NLO QCD calculations based on the interplay of the packages GoSam and Sherpa. The evaluation of the virtual corrections constitutes an application of the d-dimensional integrand-level reduction to theories with higher dimension…
I summarize phenomenological LHC13 studies of the effect of dimension six effective operators on the inclusive cross section and differential distributions for the t-channel single top process at NLO in QCD.
We present precise predictions for prompt photon production in association with a $Z$ boson and jets. They are obtained within the Sherpa framework as a consistently merged inclusive sample. Leptonic decays of the $Z$ boson are fully included in the calculation with all offshell effects. Virtual matrix elements are provided by OpenLoops and parton shower effects are simulated with a dipole parton shower. Thanks to the NLO QCD corrections included not only for inclusive $Zγ$ production but also for the $Zγ$ + 1-jet process we find significantly reduced systematic uncertainties and very good agr…
We calculate next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to electroweak Higgs plus three jet production. Both vector boson fusion (VBF) and Higgs-strahlung type contributions are included along with all interferences. The calculation is implemented within the Matchbox NLO framework of the Herwig++ event generator.
We present the results of our recent calculation of $ε^{\prime}/ ε$ at the Next-to-Leading (NLO) order in QCD and QED, in the framework of $\DSone$ Effective Hamiltonians. The operator matrix elements are taken from lattice QCD, at a scale $μ=2\,\,\mbox{GeV}$. NLO corrections seem to lower the value of $ε^{\prime}/ε$, favouring the experimental result of E731. Contributions from different operators are analyzed and dependence on $\mt$, $μ$ and $Λ_{\sss QCD}$ discussed. (Talk given at the XXVIIIth Rencontres de Moriond, ``Electro-Weak Interactions and Unified Theories'', March 13-19 1993).
In this paper we present the NLO QCD + NLO EW corrections to the $ZZZ$ production with subsequent $Z$-boson leptonic decays at the LHC by adopting the improved narrow width approximation, which takes into account off-shell contributions and spin correlations. Integrated cross sections at $13$, $14$, $33$ and $100~{\rm TeV}$ hadron colliders and various kinematic distributions are presented. Our numerical results show that the jet emission correction accounts for a large part of the total QCD correction, especially in the high energy region. By applying a proper cut to the jet transverse moment…
We present results on NLO-QCD corrections to the process e+ e- --> hadrons via photon-, Z- and graviton-exchange in the context of TeV-scale gravity models. The quantitative impact of these QCD corrections for searches of extra dimensions at a Linear Collider is briefly discussed.
We calculate the next-to-leading order (NLO) quantum chromodynamics (QCD) corrections to inclusive processes $W^+\to J/ψ(η_c)+c+\bar{s}+X$ and $W^+\to B_c(B_c^{*})+b+\bar{s}+X$ in the framework of nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization formalism. Result indicates that the NLO corrections are significant, and the uncertainties in theoretical predictions with NLO corrections are greatly reduced. The charmonium and $B_c$ meson yielding rates at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are given.
We give a prescription for attaching parton showers to next-to-leading order (NLO) partonic jet cross sections in electron-positron annihilation. Our method effectively extends to NLO the scheme of Catani, Krauss, Kuhn, and Webber for matching between m hard jets and (m+1) hard jets. The matching between parton splitting as part of a shower and parton splitting as part of NLO matrix elements is based on the Catani-Seymour dipole subtraction method that is commonly used for removing the singularities from the NLO matrix elements.}
We discuss an alternative subtraction scheme for NLO QCD calculations, which is based on the splitting kernels of an improved parton shower. As an example, we show results for the C parameter of the process e+ e- to 3 jets at NLO used for the verification of this scheme.
We report on a technique for evaluating finite unitarity cut for one-loop amplitudes in gauge theories, and discuss its application to the cut-constructible part of six-gluon amplitude in QCD.
NLO QCD fits using the DGLAP formalism have been made to the high precision ZEUS $e^+p$ reduced cross-section data and to fixed target structure function data, in order to detrmine parton distribution functions and the value of $α_s(M^2_Z)$, taking full account of correlated systematic errors. Preliminary results are reported.
The decay width of $Z^0$ to $B_c$ meson is evaluated at the next-to-leading order(NLO) accuracy in strong interaction. Numerical calculation shows that the NLO correction to this process is remarkable. The quantum chromodynamics(QCD)renormalization scale dependence of the results is obviously depressed, and hence the uncertainties lying in the leading order calculation are reduced.
In this article we review recent advances in the area of QCD factorization. We begin with a brief outline of QCD factorization, as well as a description of some recent results regarding B-->VV decays. We examine what is necessary at NLO, look at recent advances towards that goal and consider what remains to be done.
In this work we investigate the NLO QCD+EW corrections to the top quark pair production and their effects on the spin correlation coefficients and asymmetries at fixed-order top quark pair production and LO decay in the dilepton channel, within the narrow-width approximation. The spin correlations are implicitly measured through the lepton kinematics. Moreover we study the EW effects to the leptonic differential distributions. We find that the EW corrections to the $t \bar t$ production are within the NLO QCD theoretical uncertainties for the spin correlation coefficients and the leptonic asym…
In this talk we present a fully automated implementation of next-to-leading order electroweak (NLO EW) corrections in OpenLoops together with Sherpa and Munich. As a first application, we present NLO QCD+EW predictions for the production of positively charged W bosons in association with up to three jets and for the production of a Z boson or photon in association with one jet.
We update our work ``Two Higgs Doublet Model predictions for B->X_s gamma in NLO QCD'', hep-ph/9802391 by taking into account the recently calculated electromagnetic corrections. We present a new exclusion contour plot (tan(β),m_H), where these corrections are included.
In this paper we present a complete next-to-leading order QCD calculation of the $χ_J$ ($^3P_J\; ;J=0,1,2$) hadronic decay width. We include the NLO colour-octet contribution, as defined in the Bodwin, Braaten and Lepage formalism. We extract an estimate of the colour-octet parameter \height\ from the charmonium decay data.
A very brief status of next-to-leading order QCD calculations is given. As an example the next-to-leading order QCD calculations to the pp -> ttjj processes at the CERN Large Hardon Collider are presented. Results for integrated and differential cross sections are shown. They have been obtained in the framework of the HELAC-NLO system.
We revisited excited leptons ($\bar{l^*}l$) production through gauge mediation only at LHC, followed by their two body decays into Standard Model (SM) particles. We include the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to these processes. We have shown that these corrections can be substantial and significant. We also show that the scale dependence of the NLO cross section is greatly reduced as compare to leading order (LO) cross section.
We present the matching of the next-to-leading order QCD calculation for W+W+jj production via vector-boson fusion in hadronic collisions to parton-shower Monte-Carlo programs according to the POWHEG method. Our implementation complements existing code for QCD-induced W+W+jj production in the POWHEGBOX package, thereby providing a platform for the complete Standard Model production of W+W+jj events via QCD and electroweak interactions. The impact of parton-shower effects is discussed for various distributions and found to be small in most cases. However, few observables, that are relevant for …
We discuss results for di-boson plus two jets production processes at the LHC at NLO QCD. Issues related to the scale choice are reviewed. We focus on the distributions of the invariant mass and rapidity separation of the two hardest jets and show, for $W^\pm γjj$ and $Zγjj$ production, how the contribution from the radiative decays of the massive gauge bosons can be significantly reduced.
We report on state-of-the-art theoretical predictions for $pp\to t\bar{t}b\bar{b}$ including full off-shell effects in the di-lepton decay channel at NLO QCD accuracy. We briefly discuss the impact of NLO QCD corrections on differential distributions and also asses theoretical uncertainties from scale and PDF dependence. Furthermore, we propose a simple kinematic reconstruction in order to distinguish $b$ jets originating from top-quark decays from arising from gluon splittings.
Uncertainties in the simulation of Higgs boson production with up to two jets at next-to leading order accuracy are investigated. Traditional uncertainty estimates based on scale variations are extended employing different functional forms for the central scale, and the impact of details in the implementation of the parton shower is discussed.
We apply the MC@NLO approach to the process of heavy flavour hadroproduction. MC@NLO is a method for matching next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD calculations and parton shower Monte Carlo (MC) simulations, with the following features: fully exclusive events are generated, with hadronisation according to the MC model; total rates are accurate to NLO; NLO results for distributions are recovered upon expansion in $\as$; hard emissions are treated as in NLO computations while soft/collinear emissions are handled by the MC simulation, with the same logarithmic accuracy as the MC; matching between the …
The next-to-leading order (NLO) quantum chromodynamics (QCD) corrections for $χ_{cJ}(^3P_J^{[1]},^3S_1^{[8]})$, the P-wave charmoniums inclusive production at $B$ factories are calculated utilizing the non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization formalism. Large NLO corrections are found, especially for $^3P_0^{[1]}$ and $^3S_1^{[8]}$ configurations. Numerical evaluation indicates that the total cross sections of $χ_{cJ}$ inclusive production processes are at the order of $10$fb, which are accessible in BELLE II(super-B) experiment.
We are reporting on the ongoing effort of the Monte Carlo (MC) modelling of NLO DGLAP QCD evolution in the fully unintegrated form. The resulting parton shower MC is performing on its own the NLO QCD evolution, contrary to all known programs of this kind which are limited to LO level only. We overview this new MC scheme, for the non-singlet subset of the gluonstrahlung diagrams. Precision numerical tests of this new scheme are also shown.
The implementation of the full next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to electroweak Higgs boson plus three jet production at hadron colliders such as the LHC within the Matchbox NLO framework of the Herwig++ event generator is discussed. We present numerical results for integrated cross sections and kinematic distributions.
