We study null Sasakian structures in dimension five. First, based on a result due to Kollár [Ko], we improve a result by Boyer, Galicki and Matzeu in [BGM] and prove that simply connected manifolds diffeomorphic to $# k(S^2\times S^3)$ admit null Sasaki $η$-Einstein structures if and only if $k\in \{3,..., 21\}$. After this, we determine the moduli space of simply connected null Sasaki $η$-Einstein structures. This is accomplished using information on the moduli of lattice polarized K3 surfaces.
Object of study in the present paper are slant and Legendre null curves in 3-dimensional Sasaki-like almost contact B-metric manifolds. For the examined curves we express the general Frenet frame and the Frenet frame for which the original parameter is distinguished, as well as the corresponding curvatures, in terms of the structure on the manifold. We prove that the curvatures of a framed null slant and Legendre curve are constants if and only if a specific function for the considered manifolds is a constant. We find a necessary and sufficient condition a slant null curve to be a generalized …
We verify the extension to the zero section of momentum construction of Kaehler-Einstein metrics and Kaehler-Ricci solitons on the total space Y of positive rational powers of the canonical line bundle of toric Fano manifolds with possibly irregular Sasaki-Einstein metrics. More precisely, we show that the extended metric along the zero section has an expression which can be extended to Y, restricts to the associated unit circle bundle as a transversely Kaehler-Einstein (Sasakian eta-Einstein) metric scaled in the Reeb flow direction, and that there is a Riemannian submersion from the scaled S…

We study Lorentzian manifolds $(M, g)$ of dimension $n\geq 4$, equipped with a maximally twisting shearfree null vector field $p_o$, for which the leaf space $S = M/\{\exp t p_o\}$ is a smooth manifold. If $n = 2k$, the quotient $S = M/\{\exp t p_o\}$ is naturally equipped with a subconformal structure of contact type and, in the most interesting cases, it is a regular Sasaki manifold projecting onto a quantisable Kähler manifold of real dimension $2k -2$. Going backwards through this line of ideas, for any quantisable Kähler manifold with associated Sasaki manifold $S$, we give the local desc…
We introduce the concept of $\varepsilon\,$-contact metric structures on oriented (pseudo-)Riemannian three-manifolds, which encompasses the usual Riemannian contact metric, Lorentzian contact metric and para-contact metric structures, but which also allows the possibility for the Reeb vector field to be null. We investigate in more detail this latter case, which we call null contact structure. We observe that it is possible to extend in a natural and meaningful way both the Sasaki and K-contact conditions for null-contact structures, but we find that they are not equivalent conditions, in con…
We introduce the notion of $\varepsilonη\,$-Einstein $\varepsilon\,$-contact metric three-manifold, which includes as particular cases $η\,$-Einstein Riemannian and Lorentzian (para) contact metric three-manifolds, but which in addition allows for the Reeb vector field to be null. We prove that the product of an $\varepsilonη\,$-Einstein Lorentzian $\varepsilon\,$-contact metric three-manifold with an $\varepsilonη\,$-Einstein Riemannian contact metric three-manifold carries a bi-parametric family of Ricci-flat Lorentzian metric-compatible connections with isotropic, totally skew-symmetric, cl…
We study the local geometry of 4-manifolds equipped with a \emph{para-Kähler-Einstein} (pKE) metric, a special type of split-signature pseudo-Riemannian metric, and their associated \emph{twistor distribution}, a rank 2 distribution on the 5-dimensional total space of the circle bundle of self-dual null 2-planes. For pKE metrics with nonvanishing Einstein constant this twistor distribution has exactly two integral leaves and is `maximally non-integrable' on their complement, a so-called (2,3,5)-distribution. Our main result establishes a simple correspondence between the anti-self-dual Weyl te…
