Magnetism, Superconductivity and Stoichiometry in Single Crystals of Fe1+y(Te1-xSx)z

We report synthesis of high quality Fe1+y(Te1-xSx)z single crystals and a comprehensive study of structural, magnetic and transport properties. There is high sensitivity to material stoichiometry which includes vacancies on the Te(S) site. Our results reveal competition and coexistence of magnetic order and percolative superconductivity for x >= 0.03, while zero resistivity is acheived for x >= 0.1.

Electronic structure, magnetism and superconductivity of MgCNi$_{3}$

The electronic structure of the newly discovered superconducting perovskite MgCNi$_3$ is calculated using the LMTO and KKR methods. The states near the Fermi energy are found to be dominated by Ni-d. The Stoner factor is low while the electron-phonon coupling constant is estimated to be about 0.7, which suggests that the material is a conventional type of superconductor where T$_C$ is not affected by magnetic interactions. Charge compensation and optimal stoichiometry in superconducting (Ca$_x$La$_{1-x}$)(Ba$_{1.75-x}$La$_{0.25+x}$)Cu$_3$O$_y$

The superconductive and magnetic properties of charge$-$compensated (Ca$_x$La$_{1-x}$)(Ba$_{1.75-x}$La$_{0.25+x}$)Cu$_3$O$_y$ (normally denoted as CLBLCO) are considered through quantitative examination of data for electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, transition width, muon$-$spin rotation, x$-$ray absorption, and crystal structure. Tuning from Frustrated Magnetism to Superconductivity in Quasi-One-Dimensional KCr$_3$As$_3$ Through Hydrogen Doping

We report the charge doping of KCr$_3$As$_3$ via H intercalation. We show that the previously reported ethanol bath deintercalation of K$_2$Cr$_3$As$_3$ to KCr$_3$As$_3$ has a secondary effect whereby H from the bath enters the quasi-one-dimensional Cr$_6$As$_6$ chains. The single-crystal growth, stoichiometry, and structure of Rb1-xFe2-ySe2-zSz crystals with substitution of Se by S are reported. Anisotropic magnetism, superconductivity, and the phase diagram of Rb(1-x)Fe(2-y)Se2

We report the crystal growth and structural, magnetic, conductivity, and specific heat investigations of Rb(1-x)Fe(2-y)Se2 single crystals with varying stoichiometry prepared by self-flux and Bridgman methods. The system exhibits a strongly anisotropic antiferromagnetic behavior below 400 K. For 1.53 <2-y< 1.6 superconductivity is found, whereas for Fe concentrations 2-y< 1.5 and 2-y> 1.6 insulating and semiconducting behavior is observed, respectively. Solution growth of Ce-Pd-In single crystals: characterization of the heavy-fermion superconductor Ce2PdIn8

Solution growth of single crystals of the recently reported new compound Ce2PdIn8 was investigated. When growing from a stoichiometry in a range 2:1:20 - 2:1:35, single crystals of CeIn3 covered by a thin (~50 um) single-crystalline layer of Ce2PdIn8 were mostly obtained. Using palladium richer compositions the thickness of the Ce2PdIn8 layers were increased, which allowed mechanical extraction of single-phase slabs of the desired compound suitable for a thorough study of magnetism and superconductivity. FeS: Structure and Composition Relations to Superconductivity and Magnetism

Structure and composition of iron chalcogenides have a delicate relationship with magnetism and superconductivity. In this report we investigate the iron sulfide layered tetragonal phase (t-FeS), and compare with three-dimensional hexagonal phase (h-FeS). X-ray diffraction reveals the absence of structural transitions for both t- and h-FeS below room temperature, and gives phase compositions of Fe0.93(1)S and Fe0.84(1)S, respectively, for the samples studied here. Transport and superconducting properties of Fe-based superconductors: SmFeAs(O1-x Fx) versus Fe1+y (Te1-x, Sex)
