We study the inflation process of universe based on the renormalizable quantum gravity formulated as a conformal field theory (CFT). We show that the power-law CFT spectrum approaches to that of the Harrison-Zel'dovich-Peebles type as the amplitude of gravitational potential gradually reduces during the inflation. The non-Gaussanity parameter is preserved within order of unity due to the diffeomorphism invariance. Sharp fall-off of the angular power spectrum of cosmic microwave background (CMB) at large scale is understood as a consequence of the existence of dynamical scale of the quantum gravity Λ_QG (\simeq 10^{17})GeV. The angular power spectra are computed and compared with the WMAP5 and ACBAR data with a quality of χ^2/dof \simeq 1.1.
Since the temperature fluctuations in cosmic microwave background (CMB) on large-angular scales probe length scales that were super-horizon sized at photon decoupling and hence insensitive to microphysical processes, the low-multipole CMB data are supposed to be a good probe to the physics of the primordial Universe. In this letter we will constrain the cosmological parameters in the base $Λ$CDM model with tensor perturbations by only using low-multipole CMB data, including Background Imaging of Cosmic Extragalactic Polarization (B2), Planck released in 2013 (P13) and Wilkinson Microwaves Anis…
In this work we study superinflation in the context of the emergent universe (EU) scenario. The existence of a superinflating phase before the onset of slow-roll inflation arises in any emergent universe model. We found that the superinflationary period in the EU scenario produces a suppression of the CMB anisotropies at large scale which could be responsible for the observed lack of power at large angular scales of the CMB.
Multipole vectors and pseudoentropies provide powerful tools for a numerically fast and vivid investigation of possible statistically anisotropic, respectively non-Gaussian signs in CMB temperature fluctuations. After reviewing and linking these two conceptions we compare their application to data analysis using the Planck 2015 NILC full sky map.
By decomposing the CMB temperature fluctuations \emph{squared} into spherical harmonics, we can define the \emph{CMB power multipoles} as the fundamental observables to quantify any generic modulations in the CMB. This allows for simple direct measurements for the CMB modulations, and also indirect measurements for the CMB trispectrum, which fully determines the CMB modulations in a statistically isotropic universe. The CMB power multipoles can reach the theoretical accuracies higher than the current constraints from Planck observations. The theoretical accuracy for the dipole modulation, $A\s…
Our peculiar velocity with respect to the CMB rest frame is known to induce a large dipole in the CMB. However, the motion of an observer has also the effect of distorting the anisotropies at all scales, as shown by Challinor and Van Leeuwen (2002), due to aberration and Doppler effects. We propose to measure independently our local motion by using off-diagonal two-point correlation functions for high multipoles. We study the observability of the signal for temperature and polarization anisotropies. We point out that Planck can measure the velocity $β$ with an error of about 30% and the direct…
Temporary domain walls are produced during the bifurcation era of multi-stream inflation. The observational effects from such a domain wall to spectator field perturbations are calculated, and we expect the inflationary perturbations share similarities with the case of spectator field. A domain wall induces a preferred direction in the sky, affecting the angular distribution of perturbations. A correlated suppression of multipoles together with an alignment of multipole moments on the preferred direction are generated. Other observational aspects of multi-stream inflation, including hemispheri…
We analyze statistical properties of the separate multipole moments of the CMB temperature maps and find that the distribution tails are slightly non-Gaussian. Moreover, the deviation from Gaussianity peaks sharply at around $l\sim45\pm10$. If the detected non-Gaussianities should be attributed to the remaining foreground contamination from the galactic plane, an appearance of a similar peak in different frequency bands is unexpected. The presence of the peak was also confirmed by the analysis of weighted multipoles which is less susceptible to the galactic noise. A separate analysis of the mu…
We compare the statistics of parity even and odd multipoles of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) sky from PLANCK full mission temperature measurements. An excess power in odd multipoles compared to even multipoles has previously been found on large angular scales. Motivated by this apparent parity asymmetry, we evaluate directional statistics associated with even compared to odd multipoles, along with their significances. Primary tools are the \emph{Power Tensor} and \emph{Alignment Tensor} statistics. We limit our analysis to the first sixty multipoles i.e., $l=[2,61]$. We find no evidenc…
We search for a direction in the sky that exhibits parity symmetry under reflections through a plane. We use the natural estimator, which compares the power in even and odd $\ell+m$ multipoles, and apply minimal blind masking of outliers to the ILC map in order to avoid large errors in the reconstruction of multipoles. The multipoles of the cut sky are calculated both naively and by using the covariance inversion method and we estimate the significance of our results using $Λ$CDM simulations. Focusing on low multipoles, $2\leq \ell \leq \ell_{\max}$ with $\ell_{\max}=5,6$ or even 7, we find tw…
The Cosmic Microwave Background CMB originates from an early stage in the history of the universe. Observed low multipole contributions of CMB fluctuations have motivated the search for selection rules from the underlying topology of 3-space. Everitt (2004) has generated all homotopies for Platonic spherical 3-manifolds by face gluings. We transform the glue generators into isomorphic deck transformations. The deck transformations act on a spherical Platonic 3-manifold as prototile and tile the 3-sphere by its images. A complete set of orthonormal functions on the 3-sphere is spanned by the Wi…
A number of studies of WMAP-7 have highlighted that the power at the low multipoles in CMB power spectrum are lower than their theoretically predicted values. Angular correlation between the orientations of these low multipoles have also been discovered. While these observations may have cosmological ramification, it is important to investigate possible observational artifacts that can mimic them. The CMB dipole which is almost 550 times higher than the quadrupole can get leaked to the higher multipoles due to the non-circular beam of the CMB experiment. In this paper an analytical method has …
We discuss the possibility that the observed low-order multipole features of the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) all originate in the termination shock (TS) region of the heliosheath that surrounds the solar system. If the intrinsic CMB spectrum is assumed to be a pure monopole (2.73K) then thermodynamic processes occurring within the plasma region of the TS could imprint the observed power spectrum of the low-order multipoles and their alignment (the so-called "axis of evil") onto this background isotropic CMB. Conditions are outlined for the geometric shape of the TS region. A ke…
We study the entire coupled evolution of the inflaton and the scale factor for general initial conditions at a given initial time. The generic early universe evolution has three stages: decelerated fast-roll followed by inflationary fast roll and then inflationary slow-roll. This evolution is valid for all regular inflaton potentials. In addition, we find a special (extreme) slow-roll solution starting at t = -infty in which the fast-roll stages are absent. At some time t = t_*, the generic evolution backwards in time reaches a mathematical singu- larity where a(t) vanishes and Hubble becomes …
We present a novel mathematical formalism that allows to easily compute the expected kinetic Sunyaev Zeldovich (kSZ) signal in intensity and polarization due to an anisotropic primordial Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). We derive the expected intensity and polarization distortions in the direction of non-moving galaxy clusters and then we generalize our calculations for non-zero peculiar velocity. We show that, in the direction of moving clusters, low CMB multipoles impose intensity and polarization spectral distortions with different frequency dependences. The polarization signal primarily …
Many theories beyond the Standard Model include extra dimensions, though these have yet to be directly observed. In this work we consider the possibility of a compactification mechanism which both allows extra dimensions and is compatible with current observations. This compactification is predicted to leave a signature on the CMB by altering the amplitude of the low l multipoles, dependent on the amount of inflation. Recently discovered CMB anomalies at low multipoles may be evidence for this. In our model we assume the spacetime is the product of a four-dimensional spacetime and flat extra d…
The lack of power of large--angle CMB anisotropies is known to increase its statistical significance at higher Galactic latitudes, where a string--inspired pre--inflationary scale $Δ$ can also be detected. Considering the Planck 2015 data, and relying largely on a Bayesian approach, we show that the effect is mostly driven by the \emph{even}--$\ell$ harmonic multipoles with $\ell \lesssim 20$, which appear sizably suppressed in a way that is robust with respect to Galactic masking, along with the corresponding detections of $Δ$. On the other hand, the first \emph{odd}--$\ell$ multipoles are on…
Recent results of Planck data reveal that the power in the low multipoles of the CMB angular power spectrum, approximately up to $l=30$, is significantly lower than the theoretically predicted in the best fit $Λ$CDM model. In this paper we investigate the possibility of invoking the Integrated Sachs-Wolfe (ISW) effect to explain this power deficit at low multipoles. The ISW effect that originates from the late time expansion history of the universe is rich in possibilities given the limited understanding of the origin of dark energy (DE). It is a common understanding that the ISW effect adds t…
A fundamental assumption in cosmology is that of statistical isotropy - that the universe, on average, looks the same in every direction in the sky. Statistical isotropy has recently been tested stringently using Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) data, leading to intriguing results on large angular scales. Here we apply some of the same techniques used in the CMB to the distribution of galaxies on the sky. Using the multipole vector approach, where each multipole in the harmonic decomposition of galaxy density field is described by unit vectors and an amplitude, we lay out the basic formalism …
The hemispherical power asymmetry, observed in the CMBR data, has generally been interpreted in terms of the dipole modulation model for the temperature fluctuations. Here we point out that this model leads to several predictions, which can be directly tested in the current data. We suggest tests of the hemispherical power asymmetry both in real and multipole space. We find a significant signal of the dipole modulation model in WMAP and PLANCK data with our tests. The dipole amplitude and direction also agrees, within errors, with earlier results based on hemispherical analysis in multipole sp…
The prospect of detecting relic gravitational waves (RGWs), through their imprint in the cosmic microwave background radiation, provides an excellent opportunity to study the very early Universe. In simplest viable theoretical models the RGW background is characterized by two parameters, the tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$ and the tensor spectral index $n_t$. In this paper, we analyze the potential joint constraints on these two parameters, $r$ and $n_t$, using the data from the upcoming cosmic microwave background radiation experiments. Introducing the notion of the best pivot multipole $\ell_t^*$…
The low multipole anomalies of the Cosmic Microwave Background has received much attention during the last few years. It is still not ascertained whether these anomalies are indeed primordial or the result of systematics or foregrounds. An example of a foreground, which could generate some non-Gaussian and statistically anisotropic features at low multipole range, is the very symmetric Kuiper Belt in the outer solar system. In this paper, expanding upon the methods presented by Maris et al. (2011), we investigate the contributions from the Kuiper Belt objects (KBO) to the WMAP ILC 7 map, where…
We consider the Stokes parameters' frequency spectral distortions arising due to Compton scattering of the anisotropic cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation, the Sunyaev-Zel' dovich effect (SZ), towards clusters of galaxies. We single out a very special type of such distortions and find simple analytical formulas for them. We show that this kind of distortion has a very distinctive spectral shape and can be separated from other kinds of contaminants. We demonstrate that this effect gives us an opportunity for an independent estimation of the low-multipole angular CMB anisotropies, such a…
Several authors have previously shown that Gpc-scale void based on the spherically symmetric LTB model can provide a good fit to certain cosmological data, including the SNIa data, but it is only consistent with the observed CMB dipole if we are located very close to the center, in violation of the Copernican principle. In this work we investigate the more general quasispherical Szekeres model, which does not include spherical symmetry, in order to determine whether this option may be less constricting. We find that the observer is still constrained to a small region, but it is not as geometri…
The dipolar model \cite{Gordon:2005ai} has attracted much interest because it may phenomenologically explain the CMB hemispherical power asymmetry found in the WMAP and Planck data. Since such a model explicitly breaks isotropy at large angular scales it is natural to wonder whether it can also explain other CMB directional anomalies. Focusing on the low $\ell$ alignments and assuming $Λ$CDM, we confirm that the quadrupole/octupole and the dipole/quadrupole/octupole alignments are anomalous with a significance up to $99.9\%$ C.L., for both WMAP and Planck data. Moreover, we show for the first …
The temperature fluctuations of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) are supposed to be distributed randomly in both magnitude and phase, following to the simplest model of inflation. In this paper, we look at the odd and even multipoles of the spherical harmonic decomposition of the CMB, and the different characteristics of these, giving rise to a parity asymmetry. We compare the even and odd multipoles in the CMB power spectrum, and also the even and odd mean angles. We find for the multipoles of the power spectrum, that there is power excess in odd multipoles, compared to even ones, meanin…
During inflation, spacetime is approximately described by de Sitter space which is conformally invariant with the symmetry group SO(1,4). This symmetry can significantly constrain the quantum perturbations which arise in the inflationary epoch. We consider a general situation of single field inflation and show that the three point function involving two scalar modes and one tensor mode is uniquely determined, up to small corrections, by the conformal symmetries. Special conformal transformations play an important role in our analysis. Our result applies only to models where the inflaton sector…
If the principle of statistical isotropy is valid, then the angular power spectrum (APS) of cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation is uncorrelated between different multipoles. We propose a novel technique to analyse any possible correlations of the foreground cleaned CMB temperature angular power spectrum (APS) measures ($C_{\ell}$ and $\mathcal{D}_\ell=\frac{\ell(\ell+1)}{2π}C_\ell$). This is motivated by the behaviour of level spacings between random matrix eigenvalues. The method helps distinguish uncorrelated statistically isotropic CMB APS from correlated APS, where the latter can a…
We constrain deviations of the form $T\propto (1+z)^{1+ε}$ from the standard redshift-temperature relation, corresponding to modifying distance duality as $D_L=(1+z)^{2(1+ε)} D_A$. We consider a consistent model, in which both the background and perturbation equations are changed. For this purpose, we introduce a species of dark radiation particles to which photon energy density is transferred, and assume $ε\ge0$. The Planck 2015 release high multipole temperature plus low multipole data give the limit $ε<4.5\times 10^{-3}$ at 95% C.L. The main obstacle to improving this CMB-only result is str…
The large-angle, low multipole cosmic microwave background (CMB) provides a unique view of the largest angular scales in the Universe. Study of these scales is hampered by the facts that we have only one Universe to observe, only a few independent samples of the underlying statistical distribution of these modes, and an incomplete sky to observe due to the interposing Galaxy. Techniques for reconstructing a full sky from partial sky data are well known and have been applied to the large angular scales. In this work we critically study the reconstruction process and show that, in practise, the …
The strong constraints of conformal symmetry cause any nearly-conformal sector to blueshift tensor fluctuations in cosmology. Hidden sectors with approximate conformal symmetry, which may be quite large, are a well-motivated extension of physics beyond the Standard Models of particle physics and cosmology. They can therefore lead to a detectable shift in the tensor tilt for next-generation CMB and gravitational wave experiments. We compute the leading-order contribution to the in-in graviton two-point function from virtual loops in such sectors to demonstrate this universal effect. In units wh…
There exists some evidence of a suppression in power in the CMB multipoles around $l \sim 20-30$. If taken seriously, this is in tension with the simplest inflationary models driven by a single scalar field with a standard type of slowly varying potential function $V(ϕ)$. Such potential functions generate a nearly scale invariant spectrum and so they do not possess the requisite suppression in power. In this paper we explore if canonical two-derivative inflation models, with a step-like feature in the potential, can improve agreement with data. We find that improvement can be made when one uti…

We propose a new internal linear combination (ILC) method in the pixel space, applicable on large angular scales of the sky, to estimate a foreground minimized Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature anisotropy map by incorporating prior knowledge about the theoretical CMB covariance matrix. Usual ILC method in pixel space, on the contrary, does not use any information about the underlying CMB covariance matrix. The new approach complements the usual pixel space ILC technique specifically at low multipole region, using global information available from theoretical CMB covariance matrix a…
We present two novel methods for the estimation of the angular power spectrum of cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropies. We assume an absolute CMB experiment with arbitrary asymmetric beams and arbitrary sky coverage. The methods differ from earlier ones in that the power spectrum is estimated directly from time-ordered data, without first compressing the data into a sky map, and they take into account the effect of asymmetric beams. In particular, they correct the beam-induced leakage from temperature to polarization. The methods are applicable to a case where part of the sky has been…
It was recently shown that our peculiar velocity βwith respect to the CMB induces mixing among multipoles and off-diagonal correlations at all scales which can be used as a measurement of β, which is independent of the standard measurement using the CMB temperature dipole. The proposed techniques rely however on a perturbative expansion which breaks down for \ell \gtrsim 1/(β) \approx 800. Here we propose a technique which consists of deboosting the CMB temperature in the time-ordered data and show that it extends the validity of the perturbation analysis multipoles up to \ell \sim 10000. We a…
The largest anisotropy in the cosmic microwave background (CMB) is the 3 mK kinematic dipole reflecting our motion with respect to the CMB frame and pointed in the direction $(l, b) = (264^\circ, +48^\circ)$ in Galactic coordinates. We introduce the concept of the ring of attraction (RA), which is orthogonal to the axis of the kinematic dipole. These directions overlap with the zone of percolation for the kinematic dipole, where its amplitude almost vanishes. We show that along this ring are oriented the directions of the dipole modulation of the CMB, and positions of the peaks responsible for…
Relic gravitational waves (RGWs) leave well-understood imprints on the anisotropies in the temperature and polarization of cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation. In the TT and TE information channels, which have been well observed by WMAP and Planck missions, RGWs compete with density perturbations mainly at low multipoles. It is dangerous to include high-multipole CMB data in the search for gravitational waves, as the spectral indices may not be constants. In this paper, we repeat our previous work [W.Zhao & L.P.Grishchuk, Phys.Rev.D {\bf 82}, 123008 (2010)] by utilizing the Planck TT a…
We demonstrate that for a cosmic variance limited experiment, CMB E polarization alone places stronger constraints on cosmological parameters than CMB temperature. For example, we show that EE can constrain parameters better than TT by up to a factor 2.8 when a multipole range of l=30-2500 is considered. We expose the physical effects at play behind this remarkable result and study how it depends on the multipole range included in the analysis. In most relevant cases, TE or EE surpass the TT based cosmological constraints. This result is important as the small scale astrophysical foregrounds a…
In this work, we study a direction dependent power spectrum in anisotropic Finsler space-time. We use this direction dependent power spectrum to address the low-l power observed in WMAP and PLANCK data. The angular power spectrum of the temperature fluctuations has a lower amplitude in comparison to the $Λ$CDM model in the multipole range l = 2-40. Our theoretical model gives a correction to the isotropic angular power spectrum $C^{TT}_l$ due to the breaking of the rotational invariance of the primordial power spectrum. We estimate best-fit model parameters along with the six $Λ$CDM cosmologic…
A non-cosmological origin for the CMB low-order multipoles and associated anomalies is suggested in this paper. We discuss the possibility that these features of the power spectrum originate in the termination shock (TS) region of the heliosheath that surrounds the solar system. If the intrinsic CMB spectrum is assumed to be a pure monopole (2.73K) then thermal processes occurring within an ellipsoidal-shaped plasma region of the TS region could imprint the observed low-order multipoles and their alignment (so-called 'axis of exil') onto this background CMB. A key requirement of the model is t…
We study several anisotropic inflationary models and their implications for the observed violation of statistical isotropy in the CMBR data. In two of these models the anisotropy decays very quickly during the inflationary phase of expansion. We explicitly show that these models lead to violation of isotropy only for low l CMBR modes. Our primary aim is to fit the observed alignment of l=2,3 multipoles to the theoretical models. We use two measures, based on the power tensor, which contains information about the alignment of each multipole, to quantify the anisotropy in data. One of the measur…
We conduct a model-independent analysis of temporal features during inflation in the large-scale CMB temperature power spectrum allowing for the possibility of non-negligible tensor contributions. Of 20 principal components of the inflationary history, the suppression of power at low multipoles beginning with a glitch at multipoles $\ell \sim 20-40$ implies deviations in 2-3 of them with 2-3$σ$ deviations in each, with larger values reflecting cases where tensors are allowed. If tensors are absent, the corresponding $E$-mode polarization features follow a similar pattern but are predicted to be…
Recent cosmic microwave background (CMB) observations put strong constraints on the spatial curvature via estimation of the parameter $Ω_k$ assuming an almost scale invariant primordial power spectrum. We study the evolution of the background geometry and gauge-invariant scalar perturbations in an inflationary closed FLRW model and calculate the primordial power spectrum. We find that the inflationary dynamics is modified due to the presence of spatial curvature, leading to corrections to the nearly scale invariant power spectrum at the end of inflation. When evolved to the surface of last sca…
We relate the observed hemispherical anisotropy in the cosmic microwave radiation data to an inhomogeneous power spectrum model. The hemispherical anisotropy can be parameterized in terms of the dipole modulation model. This model leads to correlations between spherical harmonic coefficients corresponding to multipoles, l and l+1. We extract the $l$ dependence of the dipole modulation amplitude, A, by making a fit to the WMAP and PLANCK CMBR data. We propose an inhomogeneous power spectrum model and show that it also leads to correlations between multipoles, l and l+1. The model parameters are…
We prepare the full sky radio galaxy map ($|b|>10^{\circ}$) using the north NVSS and south SUMSS galaxy catalogs and study the large scale multipoles anomalies. These galaxies are roughly at redshift $z \sim 0.8$ and therefore tracing the matter distribution at very large scales. The quadruple and octopole from radio galaxy catalog are consistent with $Λ$CDM for a reasonable value of galaxy bias and we do not find dipole--quadruple--octopole alignment as seen in CMB temperature maps. The quadrupole direction is roughly $46^{\circ}$ away from dipole, and octopole direction is approximately $33^…
We revisit the degeneracy between the Hubble constant, $H_0$, and matter density, $Ω_m$, for current cosmic microwave background (CMB) observations within the standard $ΛCDM$ model. We show that Planck, Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP), South Pole Telescope (SPT), and Atacama Cosmology Telescope Polarimeter (ACTPol) temperature power spectra produce different values of the exponent $x$ from minimizing the variance of the product $Ω_mH_0^x$. The distribution of $x$ from the different data sets does not follow the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) best-fit values for $H_0$ or $Ω_m$. Par…
We study the power asymmetry between even and odd multipoles in the multipolar expansion of CMB temperature data from WMAP, recently reported in the literature. We introduce an alternate statistic which probes this effect more sensitively. We find that the data is highly anomalous and consistently outside $2σ$ significance level in the whole multipole range $l=[2,101]$. We examine the possibility that this asymmetry may be caused by the foreground cleaning procedure or by residual foregrounds. By direct simulations, using the Planck Sky Model for foregrounds we rule out this possibility. We al…
We consider an inhomogeneous model and independently an anisotropic model of primordial power spectrum in order to describe the observed hemispherical anisotropy in Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation. This anisotropy can be parametrized in terms of the dipole modulation model of the temperature field. Both the models lead to correlations between spherical harmonic coefficients corresponding to multipoles, l and l \pm 1. We obtain the model parameters by making a fit to TT correlations in CMBR data. Using these parameters we predict the signature of our models for correlations among differen…
On large angular scales (greater than about 60 degrees), the two-point angular correlation function of the temperature of the cosmic microwave background (CMB), as measured (outside of the plane of the Galaxy) by the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe, shows significantly lower large-angle correlations than expected from the standard inflationary cosmological model. Furthermore, when derived from the full CMB sky, the two lowest cosmologically interesting multipoles, the quadrupole (l=2) and the octopole (l=3), are unexpectedly aligned with each other. Using randomly generated full-sky and c…
We study the asymmetric primordial fluctuations in a model of inflation in which translational invariance is broken by a domain wall. We calculate the corrections to the power spectrum of curvature perturbations; they are anisotropic and contain dipole, quadrupole, and higher multipoles with non-trivial scale-dependent amplitudes. Inspired by observations of these multipole asymmetries in terms of two-point correlations and variance in real space, we demonstrate that this model can explain the observed anomalous power asymmetry of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) sky, including its charac…
We investigate the sources of parity asymmetry in the CMB temperature maps using a pixel domain approach. We demonstrate that this anomaly is mainly associated with the presence of two pairs of high asymmetry regions. The first pair of peaks with Galactic coordinates $(l, b) = (212^\circ, -21^\circ)$ and $(32^\circ, 21^\circ)$ is associated with the Northern Galactic Spur and the direction of the dipole modulation of the power spectrum of the CMB anisotropy. The other pair ($(l, b)=(332^\circ, -8^\circ)$ and $(152^\circ, 8^\circ)$) is located within the Galactic plane (the Galactic Cold Spot a…
The remarkable progress in cosmic microwave background (CMB) studies over past decade has led to the era of precision cosmology in striking agreement with the $Λ$CDM model. However, the lack of power in the CMB temperature anisotropies at large angular scales (low-$\ell$), as has been confirmed by the recent Planck data also (up to $\ell=40$), although statistically not very strong (less than $3σ$), is still an open problem. One can avoid to seek an explanation for this problem by attributing the lack of power to cosmic variance orcan look for explanations i.e., different inflationary potentia…
We examine the internal consistency of the Planck 2015 cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature anisotropy power spectrum. We show that tension exists between cosmological constant cold dark matter (LCDM) model parameters inferred from multipoles l<1000 (roughly those accessible to Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe), and from l>=1000, particularly the CDM density, Omega_ch^2, which is discrepant at 2.5 sigma for a Planck-motivated prior on the optical depth, tau=0.07+/-0.02. We find some parameter tensions to be larger than previously reported because of inaccuracy in the code used by …
