We consider brane gas models based on type II string theories and analyze the mass, the Ramond-Ramond charge and the charge on moduli fluctuations of branes wrapping over cycles of a compactified space in the four-dimensional Einstein frame. A six-dimensional torus and Calabi-Yau threefolds are considered for the Kaluza-Klein reduction. A large volume of the compactified space and a weak string coupling gives rise to point particles of the wrapped branes which have a light mass and a small charge of the Ramond-Ramond flux and of the moduli fluctuations, while the particles become very heavy in the string frame. We find that the masses and the charges satisfy the sea-saw like dual relations which become time-independent in the four-dimensional Einstein frame.
We consider the supergravity back-reaction of M2 branes wrapping around the space-time cycles in 1/8-BPS microstate geometries. We show that such brane wrappings will generically break all the supersymmetries. In particular, all the supersymmetries will be broken if there are such wrapped branes but the net charge of the wrapped branes is zero. We show that if M2 branes wrap a single cycle, or if they wrap a several of co-linear cycles with the same orientation, then the solution will be 1/16-BPS, having two supersymmetries. We comment on how these results relate to using W-branes to understan…
Employing the method applied to construct $AdS_5$ solutions from M5-branes recently by Bah, Bonetti, Minasian and Nardoni, we construct supersymmetric $AdS_3$ solutions from D3-branes and M5-branes wrapped on a disc with non-trivial holonomies at the boundary. In five-dimensional $U(1)^3$-gauged $\mathcal{N}=2$ supergravity, we find $\mathcal{N}=(2,2)$ and $\mathcal{N}=(4,4)$ supersymmetric $AdS_3$ solutions. We uplift the solutions to type IIB supergravity and obtain D3-branes wrapped on a topological disc. We also uplift the solutions to eleven-dimensional supergravity and obtain M5-branes w…
Large classes of AdS$_p$ supergravity backgrounds describing the IR dynamics of $p$-branes wrapped on a Riemann surface are determined by a solution to the Liouville equation. The regular solutions of this equation lead to the well-known wrapped brane supergravity solutions associated with the constant curvature metric on a compact Riemann surface. We show that some singular solutions of the Liouville equation have a physical interpretation as explicit point-like brane sources on the Riemann surface. We uncover the details of this picture by focusing on $\mathcal{N}=1$ theories of class $\math…
We shall obtain the interaction of the D$p_1$- and D$p_2$-branes in the toroidal-orbifold spacetime $\mathit{T}^{n}\times\mathbb{R}^{1, d-n-5} \times\mathbb{C}^{2}/\mathbb{Z}_{2}$. The configuration of the branes is: non-intersecting, perpendicular, moving-rotating, wrapped-fractional with background fields. For this, we calculate the bosonic boundary state corresponding to a dynamical fractional-wrapped D$p$-brane in presence of the Kalb-Ramond field, a $U(1)$ gauge potential and an open string tachyon field. The long-range behavior of the interaction amplitude will be extracted.
We obtain two boundary states corresponding to the two folds of a fractional-wrapped D$p$-brane, i.e. the twisted version under the orbifold $\mathbb{C}^{2}/\mathbb{Z}_{2}$ and the untwisted version. The brane has rotation and linear motion, in the presence of the following background fields: the Kalb-Ramond tensor, a $U(1)$ internal gauge potential and a tachyon field. The rotation and linear motion are inside the volume of the brane. The brane lives in the $d$-dimensional spacetime, with the orbifold-toroidal structure $T^n \times \mathbb{R}^{1, d-n-5} \times\mathbb{C}^{2}/\mathbb{Z}_{2}$ in…
We study CFT data of 3-dimensional superconformal field theories (SCFTs) arising from wrapped two M5-branes on closed hyperbolic 3-manifolds. Via so-called 3d/3d correspondence, central charges of these SCFTs are related to a $SL(2)$ Chern-Simons (CS) invariant on the 3-manifolds. We give a rigorous definition of the invariant in terms of resurgence theory and a state-integral model for the complex CS theory. We numerically evaluate the central charges for several closed 3-manifolds with small hyperbolic volume. The computation suggests that the wrapped M5-brane systems give infinitely many di…
