Using 605/fb of data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance we present a measurement of the inclusive radiative B-meson decay channel, B to X_s gamma. For the lower photon energy thresholds of 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 and 2.0GeV, as defined in the rest frame of the B-meson, we measure the partial branching fraction and the mean and variance of the photon energy spectrum. At the 1.7GeV threshold we obtain the partial branching fraction BF(B to X_s gamma) = (3.45 +/- 0.15 +/- 0.40) x 10^-4, where the errors are statistical and systematic.
The inclusive production of charmonium mesons in B meson decay has been studied in a 20.3 fb$^{-1}$ data set collected by the BaBar experiment operating at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance. Branching fractions have been measured for the inclusive production of the charmonium mesons $J/ψ$, $ψ(2S)$, $χ_{c1}$, and $χ_{c2}$. The branching fractions are also presented as a function of the center-of-mass momentum of the mesons and of the helicity of the $J/ψ$.
The inclusive production rate of phi mesons from the decay of b hadrons produced in Z0 decays was measured to be Br(b->phi+X) = 0.0282+-0.0013(stat.)+-0.0019(syst.), using data collected by the OPAL detector at LEP.
A largely model-independent measurement of the inclusive electron momentum spectrum and branching fraction for semileptonic decays of B mesons is presented based on data recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector. Backgrounds from secondary charm decays are separated from prompt B decays using charge and angular correlations between the electron from one B meson and a high momentum electron tag from the second B meson. The resulting branching fraction is BR(B -> X e nu) = (10.87 +-0.18(stat)+-0.30(syst))%. Based on this measurement we determine the CKM matrix element |V_cb|.
Measurements of vector mesons at HERA allow a detailed study of diffractive and non-diffractive production mechanisms, fragmentation and decay branching ratios. Results are presented on hadronic resonance measurements. In addition, the first observation of two meson states at masses around 1500 MeV and 1700 MeV are reported using inclusive KsKs production in deep inelastic ep scattering in ZEUS at HERA.
A study of the $D_{sJ}^*(2317)^+$ and $D_{sJ}(2460)^+$ mesons in inclusive $c\bar{c}$ production is presented using 232 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data collected by the BaBar experiment near $\sqrt{s} = 10.6$ \gev. Final states consisting of a $D_s^+$ meson along with one or more $π^0$, $π^\pm$, or $γ$ particles are considered. Estimates of the mass and limits on the width are provided for both mesons and for the $D_{s1}(2536)^+$ meson. A search is also performed for neutral and doubly-charged partners of the $D_{sJ}^*(2317)^+$ meson.
Inclusive non-diffractive photoproduction of rho(770)^0, K^*(892)^0 and phi(1020) mesons is investigated with the H1 detector in ep collisions at HERA. The corresponding average γp centre-of-mass energy is 210 GeV. The mesons are measured in the transverse momentum range 0.5<p_T<7 GeV and the rapidity range |y_{lab}|<1. Differential cross sections are presented as a function of transverse momentum and rapidity, and are compared to the predictions of hadroproduction models.
We present results on the production of omega mesons at high transverse momenta in pi^-Be interactions at 515 GeV/c. The data span the kinematic range 3.5 < p_T < 8 GeV/c. We compare the measured cross section with expectations from Monte Carlo QCD generators. The relative yield of omega to pi^0 mesons is used to extract the ratio of vector to pseudoscalar meson production for the first generation of quarks.
With singly-tagged $\bar D$ samples selected from the data collected at and around 3.773 GeV with the BESII detector at the BEPC collider, we have measured the branching fractions for the inclusive $K^\pm$ decays of $D^+$ and $D^0$ mesons, which are $BF(D^+\to K^-X) = (24.7 \pm 1.3 \pm 1.2)%$, $BF(D^+\to K^+X) = (6.1 \pm 0.9 \pm 0.4) %$, $BF(D^0\to K^-X) = (57.8 \pm 1.6 \pm 3.2) %$ and $BF(D^0\to K^+X) = (3.5 \pm 0.7 \pm 0.3) %$, respectively. We have also measured the branching fractions for the inclusive semileptonic decays of $D^+$ and $D^0$ mesons to be $BF(D^+ \to e^+ X)=(15.2 \pm 0.9 \pm…
We present measurements of the inclusive semileptonic branching fractions of charged and neutral B mesons using 20.6 fb-1 of data measured at the Upsilon(4S) with the BABAR detector. Events are tagged with a fully reconstructed hadronic decay of a B meson. The correlation between the flavor of the tag B meson and the electron charge allows the separation of prompt semileptonic B decays and cascade semileptonic charm decays. We obtain the preliminary inclusive semileptonic branching fraction of charged B mesons b+ = 0.103+/-0.006+/-0.005, neutral B mesons b0 = 0.104+/-0.008+/-0.005, their avera…
The inclusive photoproduction of D\ast mesons and of D\ast-tagged dijets is investigated with the H1 detector at the ep collider HERA. The kinematic region covers small photon virtualities Q2 < 2 GeV2 and photon-proton centre-of-mass energies of 100 < Wgp < 285 GeV. Inclusive D\ast meson differential cross sections are measured for central rapidities |eta(D\ast)| < 1.5 and transverse momenta pT (D\ast) > 1.8 GeV. The heavy quark production process is further investigated in events with at least two jets with transverse momentum pT (jet) > 3.5 GeV each, one containing the D\ast meson. Different…
Inclusive production cross sections are measured in deep inelastic scattering at HERA for meson states composed of a charm quark and a light antiquark or the charge conjugate. The measurements cover the kinematic region of photon virtuality 2 < Q^2 < 100 GeV^2, inelasticity 0.05 < y < 0.7, D meson transverse momenta p_t(D) > 2.5 GeV and pseudorapidity |eta(D)| < 1.5. The identification of the D-meson decays and the reduction of the combinatorial background profit from the reconstruction of displaced secondary vertices by means of the H1 silicon vertex detector. The production of charmed mesons…
We report a measurement of the inclusive charmless semileptonic branching fraction of B mesons in a sample of 89 million BBbar events recorded with the BABAR detector at the Y(4S) resonance. Events are selected by fully reconstructing the decay of one B meson and identifying a charged lepton from the decay of the other B meson. The number of signal events is extracted from the hadronic mass distribution and is used to determine the ratio of branching fractions BR(B->Xulnu)/BR(B->Xlnu) = (2.06 +/-0.25(stat) +/-0.23(syst) +/-0.36(theo)) x 10^{-2}. Using the measured branching fraction for inclus…
We reconstruct the charmonium mesons J/psi, psi(2S) and chi_C1 using a sample of 8.46 x 10^6 B-anti-B events collected by the BABAR detector operating at e^+e^- center of mass energies near the Y(4S) resonance. By measuring rates relative to the branching fraction of the J/psi, we obtain preliminary inclusive B branching fractions of (0.25+/-0.02+/-0.02)% to the psi(2S) and (0.39+/-0.04+/-0.04)% to the chi_C1, and set a 90% confidence level limit of 0.24% on decays through the chi_C2.
The inclusive production of the omega(782) vector meson in hadronic Z decays is measured and compared to model predictions. The analysis is based on 4 million hadronic Z decays recorded by the ALEPH detector between 1991 and 1995. The production rate for x_p = p_meson/p_beam > 0.05 is measured in the omega -> pi^+ pi^- pi^0 decay mode and found to be 0.585 +- 0.019_stat +- 0.033_sys per event. Inclusive eta meson production is also measured in the same decay channel for x_p > 0.10, obtaining 0.355 +- 0.011_stat +- 0.024_sys per event. The branching ratio for omega -> mu^+ mu^- is investigated.…
Using the data sample of about 33 pb-1 collected at and around 3.773 GeV with the BES-II detector at the BEPC collider, we have studied inclusive K0~/K0 and K*(892)+- decays of D0 and D+ mesons. The branching fractions for the inclusive K0~/K0 and K*(892)- decays are measured to be BF(D0 to K0~/K0 X)=(47.6+-4.8+-3.0)%, BF(D+ to K0~/K0 X)=(60.5+-5.5+-3.3)%, BF(D0 to K*- X)=(15.3+- 8.3+- 1.9)% and BF(D+ to K*- X)=(5.7+- 5.2+- 0.7)%. The upper limits of the branching fractions for the inclusive K*(892)+ decays are set to be BF(D0 to K*+ X)<3.6% and BF(D+ to K*+ X) <20.3% at 90% confidence level.
We measure the inclusive branching fractions of charm mesons into three mesons with large s-anti-s content, namely the eta, eta' and phi. Data were accumulated with the CLEO-c detector. For D0 and D+ rates, we use 281/pb taken on the psi(3770) resonance, and for Ds+ rates, we use 195/pb taken at 4170 MeV. We find that the production rates of these particles are larger in Ds+ decays than in D0 and D+ decays. The phi rate, in particular, is 15 times greater. These branching fractions can be used to measure Bs yields either at the Upsilon(5S) resonance or at hadron colliders.
A preliminary measurement of branching fractions of the D0 and D+ mesons into the phi meson is reported. The result is based on a data sample of 22.3 pb-1 collected at the CM energy of 4.03 GeV with the BES detector operated at the BEPC e+e- storage ring. From tagged D\bar{D} pair events the average branching fraction for a mixture of D0 and D+ is determined to be B(D->phiX)= (1.29+-0.51+-0.12)%. Upper limits at 90% confidence level are set to be B(D0->phiX)<2.5%, B(D+->phiX)<5.0%, and B(D+->phie+X)<1.6%.
We present a measurement of the electron spectrum from inclusive semileptonic {\it B} decay, using 5.1 fb$^{-1}$ of $Υ(4S)$ data collected with the Belle detector. A high-momentum lepton tag was used to separate the semileptonic {\it B} decay electrons from secondary decay electrons. We obtained the branching fraction, ${\cal B}(B\to X e^+ ν) = (10.90 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.49)%$, with minimal model dependence. From this measurement, we derive a value for the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cb}| = 0.0408 \pm 0.0010 {\rm (exp)} \pm 0.0025{\rm (th)}$.
Inclusive phi-meson production in neutral current deep inelastic e+p scattering has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 45 pb^{-1}. The phi mesons were studied in the range 10<Q2<100 GeV2, where Q2 is the virtuality of the exchanged photon, and in restricted kinematic regions in the transverse momentum, p_T, pseudorapidity, eta, and the scaled momentum in the Breit frame, x_p. Monte Carlo models with the strangeness-suppression factor as determined by analyses of e+e- annihilation events overestimate the cross sections. A smaller value of the strangen…
Differential photoproduction cross sections are measured for events containing D* mesons. The data were taken with the H1 detector at the ep collider HERA and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 51.1 pb-1. The kinematic region covers small photon virtualities Q^2 < 0.01 GeV^2 and photon-proton centre-of-mass energies of 171 < W_gammap < 256 GeV. The details of the heavy quark production process are further investigated in events with one or two jets in addition to the D* meson. Differential cross sections for D* jet production are determined and the correlations between the D* meson and …
We report a measurement of the branching fraction of inclusive semileptonic $B$ meson decays $B\to X_c\ellν\ell$ in $Υ(4S)\to B\bar B$~data recorded by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider and corresponding to 62.8 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. Only a charged lepton (electon or muon) is reconstructed and the signal yield is determined from a fit to the lepton momentum distribution in the center-of-mass frame of the colliding beams. Averaging the result in the electron and muon channels, we find ${\cal B}(B\to X_c\ellν_\ell) = (9.75\pm 0.03(\text{st…
The production of wrong sign charmed mesons b -> \bar D_{(s)} X, D_{(s)}=(D0,D+,D_s), is studied using the data collected by the DELPHI experiment in the years 1994 and 1995. Charmed mesons in Z -> b bbar events are exclusively reconstructed by searching for the decays D0 -> K- pi+, D+ -> K- pi+ pi+ and D_s^+ -> phi pi+ -> K+ K- pi+. The wrong sign contribution is extracted by using two discriminant variables: the charge of the b-quark at decay time, estimated from the charges of identified particles, and the momentum of the charmed meson in the rest frame of the b-hadron. The inclusive branch…
We present spectra of prompt electrons from decays of neutral and charged B mesons. The results are based on 140 /fb of data collected by the Belle detector on the Upsilon(4S) resonance at the KEKB e+e- asymmetric collider. We tag Upsilon(4S) -> B \bar{B} events by reconstructing a B meson in one of several hadronic decay modes; the semileptonic decay of the other B meson is inferred from the presence of an identified electron. We obtain for charged and neutral B mesons the partial rates of semileptonic decay, to electrons with momentum greater than 0.6 GeV/c in the B rest frame, and their rat…
The inclusive production of the meson resonances $ρ^{0}(770)$, $f_0(980)$ and $f_2(1270)$ in neutrino-nucleus charged current interactions has been studied with the NOMAD detector exposed to the wide band neutrino beam generated by 450 GeV protons at the CERN SPS. For the first time the $f_{0}(980)$ meson is observed in neutrino interactions. The statistical significance of its observation is 6 standard deviations. The presence of $f_{2}(1270)$ in neutrino interactions is reliably established. The average multiplicity of these three resonances is measured as a function of several kinematic var…
We report a fully inclusive measurement of the flavor changing neutral current decay $B\to X_sγ$ in the energy range $1.7 \GeV\le E^\mathrm{c.m.s}_γ\le 2.8 \GeV$, covering 97% of the total spectrum, where c.m.s is the center of mass system. Using $605\ifb$ of data, we obtain in the rest frame of the $B$-meson ${\mathcal B}(B\to X_sγ: E^B_γ>1.7 \mathrm{GeV})= (3.31 \pm 0.19 \pm 0.37 \pm 0.01)\times 10^{-4}$, where the errors are statistical, systematic and from the boost correction needed to transform from the rest frame of the $Υ(4S)$ (c.m.s) to that of the $B$-meson, respectively. We also mea…
The branching fractions for the inclusive Cabibbo-favored ~K*0 and Cabibbo-suppressed K*0 decays of D mesons are measured based on a data sample of 33 pb-1 collected at and around the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BES-II detector at the BEPC collider. The branching fractions for the decays D+(0) -> ~K*0(892)X and D0 -> K*0(892)X are determined to be BF(D0 -> K*0X) = (8.7 +/- 4.0 +/- 1.2)%, BF(D+ -> ~K*0X) = (23.2 +/- 4.5 +/- 3.0)% and BF(D0 -> K*0X) = (2.8 +/- 1.2 +/- 0.4)%. An upper limit on the branching fraction at 90% C.L. for the decay D+ -> K*0(892)X is set to be BF(D+ -> K…
We have searched for the bottomonium eta_b(1S) via the hindered magnetic dipole (M1) photon transition Upsilon(3S) -> gamma eta_b(1S). No evidence for such a transition is found in the data sample of 4.7 x 10^6 Upsilon(3S)'s collected with the CLEO-III detector. We set upper limits on the branching ratio from 9.30 to 9.43 GeV/c^2 of eta_b(1S) masses. These upper limits rule out many previously published phenomenological estimates of the rate for this transition.
We report a measurement of the rate for $B \to η' X_s$ transitions where the $η'$ meson has center-of-mass momentum in the range 2.0 to 2.7\gevc and $X_s$ represents a system comprising a kaon and up to four pions. Our study is based on 22.2 million $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υ(4S)$ with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. We find $\mathcal{B}(B \to η' X_s)=(6.8^{+0.7}_{-1.7}(stat)\pm1.0(syst)^{+0.0}_{-0.5}(bkg))\times10^{-4}$ assuming that the signal is due to $b \to sg^*$ transitions.
We provide nonperturbative fragmentation functions for B mesons, both at leading and next-to-leading order in the MS-bar factorization scheme with five massless quark flavors. They are determined by fitting the fractional energy distribution of B mesons inclusively produced in e^+ e^- annihilation at CERN LEP1. Theoretical predictions for the inclusive production of B mesons with high transverse momenta in p p-bar scattering obtained with these fragmentation functions nicely agree, both in shape and normalization, with data recently taken at the Fermilab Tevatron.
We present measurements of partial branching fractions of $B \rightarrow K^+ X$, $B \rightarrow K^0 X$, and $B \rightarrow π^+ X$, where $X$ denotes any accessible final state above the endpoint for B decays to charmed mesons, specifically for momenta of the candidate hadron greater than 2.34 (2.36) GeV for kaons (pions) in the B rest frame. These measurements are sensitive to potential new-physics particles which could enter the $b \rightarrow s(d)$ loop transitions. The analysis is performed on a data sample consisting of $383 \times 10^6$ $B \bar{B}$ pairs collected with the BaBar detector …
The production of charged hadrons and K_s mesons in the collisions of quasi-real photons has been measured using the OPAL detector at LEP. The data were taken at e+e- centre-of-mass energies of 161 and 172 GeV. The differential cross-sections as a function of the transverse momentum and the pseudorapidity of the charged hadrons and K_s mesons have been compared to the leading order Monte Carlo simulations of PHOJET and PYTHIA and to perturbative next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD calculations. The distributions have been measured in the range 10-125 GeV of the hadronic invariant mass W. By compar…
Recent results on inclusive charmless semileptonic decays of B mesons are reviewed. Emphasis is given to measurements on the recoil of fully reconstructed B mesons, which allow to exploit several regions of phase space. Preliminary averages of the CKM matrix element $|V_{ub}|$ from the Heavy Flavour Working Group are shown, using four different theoretical calculations.
Using e+e- collision data taken with the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have investigated the direct photon spectrum in the decay psi(2S)->gamma+gluon+gluon. We determine the ratio R of that inclusive direct photon decay rate to that of the three-gluon decay rate psi(2S)->3-gluon to be R(z>0.4)=0.070+/-0.002+/-0.019+/-0.011, with z defined as the scaled photon energy relative to the beam energy. The errors shown are statistical, systematic, and that due to the uncertainty in the input branching fractions used to extract the ratio, respectively. This R value is approxi…
Using data taken with the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have investigated the direct photon momentum spectrum in the decay J/psi->gamma+gluon+gluon, via the 'tagged' process: e+e- -> psi(2S); psi(2S)->J/psi pi+pi-; J/psi->photon + X. Including contributions from two-body radiative decay processes, we find the ratio of the inclusive direct photon branching fraction to that of the dominant three-gluon branching fraction to be R=0.137+/-0.001+/-0.016+/-0.004, where the errors shown are statistical, systematic, and the model-dependent uncertainty related to the extrapola…
We report a new measurement of the B-meson semileptonic decay momentum spectrum that has been made with a sample of 9.4/fb of electron-positron annihilation data collected with the CLEO II detector at the Y(4S) resonance. Electrons from primary semileptonic decays and secondary charm decays were separated by using charge and angular correlations in Y(4S) events with a high-momentum lepton and an additional electron. We determined the semileptonic branching fraction to be (10.91 +- 0.09 +- 0.24)% from the normalization of the electron-energy spectrum. We also measured the moments of the electro…
Single-spin asymmetries in the semi-inclusive production of charged pions in deep-inelastic scattering from transversely and longitudinally polarized proton targets are combined to evaluate the subleading-twist contribution to the longitudinal case. This contribution is significantly positive for (π^+) mesons and dominates the asymmetries on a longitudinally polarized target previously measured by \hermes. The subleading-twist contribution for (π^-) mesons is found to be small.
We have measured the first and second moments of the hadronic mass-squared distribution in B -> X_c l nu, for P(lepton) > 1.5 GeV/c. We find <M_X^2 - M_D[Bar]^2> = 0.251 +- 0.066 GeV^2, < (M_X^2 -<M_X^2>)^2 > = 0.576 +- 0.170 GeV^4, where M_D[Bar] is the spin-averaged D meson mass. From that first moment and the first moment of the photon energy spectrum in b -> s gamma, we find the HQET parameter lambda_1 (MS[Bar], to order 1/M^3 and beta_0 alpha_s^2) to be -0.24 +- 0.11 GeV^2. Using these first moments and the B semileptonic width, and assuming parton-hadron duality, we obtain |V_cb| = 0.040…
Radiative and leptonic decays of B-mesons represent an excellent laboratory for the search for New Physics. I present here recent results on radiative and leptonic decays from the Belle and BABAR collaborations.
The inclusive production of D*+- mesons in photon-photon collisions has been measured using the OPAL detector at LEP at e+e- centre-of-mass energies of 183 and 189GeV. The D* mesons are reconstructed in their decay to D0pi+ with the D0 observed in the two decay modes Kpi+ and Kpi+pi-pi+. After background subtraction, 100.4+-12.6(stat) D*+- mesons have been selected in events without observed scattered beam electron ("anti-tagged") and 29.8+-5.9 (stat) D*+- mesons in events where one beam electron is scattered into the detector ("single-tagged"). Direct and single-resolved events are studied se…

The $b \rightarrow s γ$, $b \rightarrow d γ$ and $b \rightarrow s \ell^+ \ell^-$ processes are allowed at higher order via the electroweak loop or box diagrams in the Standard model. It is sensitive probe to search for new physics beyond the Standard model because new particles might enter in the loop. We present preliminary results of branching fraction of the $\bar{B} \rightarrow X_s γ$, $CP$ asymmetry in the $\bar{B} \rightarrow X_{s+d} γ$, and the forward-backward asymmetry in the $\bar{B} \rightarrow X_s \ell^+ \ell^-$. The results are based on a data sample containing $772 \times 10^6 B\…
Coherent pi^+pi^-pi^- production in the interactions of a beam of 600 GeV pi^- mesons with C, Cu and Pb nuclei has been studied with the SELEX facility (Experiment E781 at Fermilab). The a2(1320) meson signal has been detected in the Coulomb (low q^2) region. The Primakoff formalism used to extract radiative decay width of this meson yields Gamma=284+/-25+/-25 keV, which is the most precise measurement to date.
The ideas that extreme states of nuclear matter arise in events with total dis- integration of nuclei (TDN) and as these states arise, the properties of events qualitatively change with the number of protons emitted from the nucleus Q,star- ting from its certain boundary numbe Q*,are used in this paper for the experi- mentally search for extreme states of nuclear matter. For realization of these ideas, the invariant inclusive spectra of protons and pi minus mesons as a func- tion of their kinetic energies T in the lab. system for 4HeC and 12CC interacti- ons at the momentum 4.2 A GeV/c with di…
The cross section for charmed meson production at $\sqrt{s} = 4.03 $ and 4.14 GeV has been measured with the Beijing Spectrometer. The measurement was made using 22.3 $pb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ data collected at 4.03 GeV and 1.5 $pb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ data collected at 4.14 GeV. Inclusive observed cross sections for the production of charged and neutral D mesons and momentum spectra are presented. Observed cross sections were radiatively corrected to obtain tree level cross sections. Measurements of the total hadronic cross section are obtained from the charmed meson cross section and an extrapolati…
We discuss in detail the photon spectrum of radiative Upsilon 1S decays taking into account a number of results that have recently appeared in the literature. In particular, we show how to consistently combine expressions which are valid in the upper end-point region, where NRQCD factorization breaks down, with those of the central region, where NRQCD factorization holds. An excellent description of data is achieved, but theoretical errors are large.
We estimate the heavy quark effective theory parameter λ_1 from inclusive semileptonic B-meson decay spectrum. By using recent CLEO double lepton tagging data of B -> X e nu, which shows the lepton momentum as low as 0.6 GeV, we extracted λ_1 \sim -0.58 GeV^2. We also derived \barΛ\sim 0.46 GeV and |V_{cb}| = 0.041 \pm 0.002.
In the heavy quark limit inclusive production rate of a heavy meson can be factorized, in which the nonperturbative effect related to the heavy meson can be characterized by matrix elements defined in the heavy quark effective theory. Using this factorization, predictions for the full spin density matrix of a spin-1 and spin-2 meson can be obtained and they are characterized only by one coefficient representing the nonperturbative effect. Predictions for spin-1 heavy meson are compared with experiment performed at $e^+e^-$ colliders in the energy range from $\sqrt{s}=10.5$GeV to $\sqrt{s}=91$G…
The recent discovery, by the LHCb collaboration, of the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ doubly charmed baryon, has renewed interest in the spectroscopy of doubly heavy hadrons. Experimentally, however, searches for such states appear highly challenging. The reconstructed final states tend to involve multiple heavy flavoured (beauty or charm) hadrons, so the yield for any exclusive decay mode will be suppressed to unobservably low levels by the product of several branching fractions, each of which is typically $10^{-3}$--$10^{-2}$. Noting that decays of double beauty hadrons are the only possible source of $B_c^…
Nucleon resonance contributions to the inclusive proton $F_2$ and $F_L$ structure functions are computed from resonance electroexcitation amplitudes in the mass range up to 1.75 GeV extracted from CLAS exclusive meson electroproduction data. Taking into account for the first time quantum interference effects, the resonance contributions are compared with inclusive proton structure functions evaluated from $(e,e'X)$ cross section data and the longitudinal to transverse cross section ratio. Contributions from isospin-1/2 and 3/2 resonances remain substantial over the entire range of photon virtu…
The cross section for inclusive production of $f_2(1270)$ meson is calculated. We include both the mechanism of gluon-gluon fusion as well as the $ππ$ final-state rescattering. The contribution of the gluon-gluon fusion is calculated within the $k_t$-factorization approach with modern unintegrated gluon distribution functions (UGDFs). Some parameters for the $g^* g^* \to f_2$ vertex are extracted from the $γγ\to f_2(1270) \to ππ$ reactions. The results strongly depend on the parametrization of the $g^* g^* \to f_2(1270)$ form factor. Results of our model are compared to the ALICE preliminary d…
We propose a method to non-perturbatively calculate the forward-scattering matrix elements relevant to inclusive semi-leptonic B meson decays. Corresponding hadronic structure functions at unphysical kinematics are accessible through lattice QCD calculation of four-point correlation functions. The unphysical kinematical point may be reached by analytic continuation from the physical differential decay rate. A numerical test is performed for the B_s -> X_c l nu mode in the zero-recoil limit. We use lattice ensembles generated with 2+1 dynamical quark flavors. The valence charm quark mass is tun…
Using information on B-meson fragmentation functions from CERN LEP 1 and adopting the nonrelativistic QCD factorization formalism proposed by Bodwin, Braaten, and Lepage, we predict the transverse-momentum distribution of J/psi mesons originating from the inclusive decays of b hadrons produced in p p-bar collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron. We determine the relevant colour-octet charmonium matrix elements from fits to CDF data on prompt charmonium hadroproduction and to CLEO data on charmonium production from B-meson decay. Our predictions are found to agree well with recent CDF and D0 data.
The inclusive production of light mesons in pp-scattering is considered in the framework of reggeon phenomenology with supercritical Pomeron. Available low-energy data can be explained with three reggeon particles taken into account. With the obtained results rapidity and pseudorapidity distributions for light-meson production at LHC energies are predicted.
We investigate the high-energy behavior of strong interactions through a study on the inclusive hadroproduction of charmed $B$-mesons ($B_c$ or $B_c^*$ states) accompanied by non-charmed $b$-hadron or light-flavored jet emissions at LHC energies and kinematic configurations. By making use of the hybrid high-energy and collinear factorization, where the standard fixed-order description based on collinear parton densities and fragmentation functions is enhanced via the Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov (BFKL) resummation of energy logarithms, we perform a full next-to-leading order analysis of distr…
