Using the {\it nonlinear coherent states method}, a formalism for the construction of the coherent states associated to {\it "inverse bosonic operators"} and their dual family has been proposed. Generalizing the approach, the "inverse of $f$-deformed ladder operators" corresponding to the nonlinear coherent states in the context of quantum optics and the associated coherent states have been introduced. Finally, after applying the proposal to a few known physical systems, particular nonclassical features as sub-Poissonian statistics and the squeezing of the quadratures of the radiation field corresponding to the introduced states have been investigated.
We show that various kinds of one-photon quantum states studied in the field of quantum optics admit ladder operator formalisms and have the generally deformed oscillator algebraic structure. The two-photon case is also considered. We obtain the ladder operator formalisms of two general states defined in the even/odd Fock space. The two-photon states may also have a generally deformed oscillator algebraic structure. Some interesting examples of one-photon and two-photon quantum states are given.
Morse oscillator is one of the known solvable potentials which attracts many applications in quantum mechanics especially in quantum chemistry. One of the interesting results of this study is the generation of ladder operators for Morse potential. The operators are a representation of the shifting energy levels of the states exhibited by the wavefunction. From this result, we manipulate and deform the operators in such a way that it gives a noncommutative property to promote noncommutative quantum mechanics (NCQM). The resultant NC feature can be shown in the spatial coordinates and finally th…
The canonical operator $\hat{a}^{\dagger}$ ($\hat{a}$) represents the ideal process of adding (subtracting) an {\it exact} amount of energy $E$ to (from) a physical system in both elementary quantum mechanics and quantum field theory. This is a ``sharp'' notion in the sense that no variability around $E$ is possible at the operator level. In this work, we present a class of deformed creation and annihilation operators that originates from a rigorous notion of fuzziness. This leads to deformed, sub-bosonic commutation relations inducing a simple algebraic structure with modified eigenenergies a…
We show the existence of a majorization ladder in bosonic Gaussian channels, that is, we prove that the channel output resulting from the $n\text{th}$ energy eigenstate (Fock state) majorizes the channel output resulting from the $(n\!+\!1)\text{th}$ energy eigenstate (Fock state). This reflects a remarkable link between the energy at the input of the channel and a disorder relation at its output as captured by majorization theory. This result was previously known in the special cases of a pure-loss channel and quantum-limited amplifier, and we achieve here its nontrivial generalization to any…
There has been a growing interest in realizing quantum simulators for physical systems where perturbative methods are ineffective. The scalability and flexibility of circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED) make it a promising platform to implement various types of simulators, including lattice models of strongly-coupled field theories. Here, we use a multimode superconducting parametric cavity as a hardware-efficient analog quantum simulator, realizing a lattice in synthetic dimensions with complex hopping interactions. The coupling graph, \textit{i.e.} the realized model, can be programmed \te…
In this work we propose two protocols to make an effective gauge potential for microwave photons in circuit QED. The schemes consist of coupled transmons whose flux are harmonically modulated in time. We investigate the effect of various types of capacitive and inductive couplings, and the role of the fixed phase offset of each site on the complex coupling rate between coupled qubits. These configurations can be directly realised in a superconducting circuit and is easily extendable to a scalable lattice. Due to the intrinsic non-linearity of the transmon qubits such lattices would be an ideal…
We theoretically analyze the ground state of weakly interacting bosons in the flux ladder -- the system that has been recently realized by means of ultacold atoms in the specially designed optical lattice [M. Atala, et al., Nat. Phys. 10, 588 (2014)]. It is argued that, for the system parameters corresponding to the so-called `vortex phase', the ground state is a fragmented condensate. We study the Bogoliubov depletion of this condensate and discuss the role of boundary conditions.
Ultracold bosonic atoms trapped in a two-leg ladder pierced by a magnetic field provide a minimal and quasi-one-dimensional instance to study the interplay between orbital magnetism and interactions. Using time-dependent matrix-product-states simulations, we investigate the properties of the so-called "Meissner" and "vortex" phases which appear in such system, focusing on experimentally accessible observables. We discuss how to experimentally monitor the phase transition, and show that the response to a modulation of the density imbalance between the two legs of the ladder is qualitatively dif…
In this work we make use of deformed operators to construct the coherent states of some nonlinear systems by generalization of two definitions: i) As eigenstates of a deformed annihilation operator and ii) by application of a deformed displacement operator to the vacuum state. We also construct the coherent states for the same systems using the ladder operators obtained by traditional methods with the knowledge of the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues of the corresponding Schrödinger equation. We show that both methods yield coherent states with identical algebraic structure.
In this paper, using the notion of nonlinear coherent states, we define a deformed bosonic dephasing channel modelling the impact of a Kerr medium on a quantum state, as it occurs, for instance, in quantum communication based on optical fibers. We show that, in certain regimes, the Kerr nonlinearity is able to compensate the dephasing. In addition, our studies reveal that the quantum capacity of the deformed bosonic dephasing channel can be greater than that of the undeformed, standard bosonic dephasing channel for certain nonlinearity parameters.
Ladder models of ultracold atoms offer a versatile platform for the experimental and theoretical study of different phenomena and phases of matter linked to the interplay between artificial gauge fields and interactions. Strongly correlated helical states are known to appear for specific ratios of the particle and magnetic flux densities and they can often be interpreted as a one-dimensional limit of fractional quantum Hall states, thus being called pretopological. Their signatures, however, are typically hard to observe due to the small gaps characterizing these states. Here we investigate bo…
Quantum systems in contact with an environment display a rich physics emerging from the interplay between dissipative and Hamiltonian terms. Here we focus on the role of the geometry of the coupling between the system and the baths. In the specific we consider a dissipative boundary driven ladder in presence of a gauge field which can be implemented with ion microtraps arrays. We show that, depending on the geometry, the currents imposed by the baths can be strongly affected by the gauge field resulting in non-equilibrium phase transitions. In different phases both the magnitude of the current…
The combination of interactions and static gauge fields plays a pivotal role in our understanding of strongly-correlated quantum matter. Cold atomic gases endowed with a synthetic dimension are emerging as an ideal platform to experimentally address this interplay in quasi-one-dimensional systems. A fundamental question is whether these setups can give access to pristine two-dimensional phenomena, such as the fractional quantum Hall effect, and how. We show that unambiguous signatures of bosonic and fermionic Laughlin-like states can be observed and characterized in synthetic ladders. We theor…
We study the possibility of exploiting superpositions of coherent states to encode qubit. A comparison between the use of deformed and undeformed bosonic algebra is made in connection with the amplitude damping errors.
We study the classical and quantum oscillator in the context of a non-additive (deformed) displacement operator, associated with a position-dependent effective mass, by means of the supersymmetric formalism. From the supersymmetric partner Hamiltonians and the shape invariance technique we obtain the eigenstates and the eigenvalues along with the ladders operators, thus showing a preservation of the supersymmetric structure in terms of the deformed counterpartners. The deformed space in supersymmetry allows to characterize position-dependent effective mass, uniform field interactions and to ob…
Using the f-deformed oscillator formalism, we introduce two types of squeezed coherent states for a Morse potential system (Morse-like squeezed coherent states) through the following definitions: i) as approximate eigenstates of a linear combination of f-deformed ladder operators and ii) as deformed photon-subtracted coherent states. For the states thus constructed we analyze their statistical properties, their uncertainty relations, and their temporal evolution on phase space.
In a recent paper a pair of operators $a$ and $b$ satisfying the equations $a^\dagger a=bb^\dagger+γ\1$ and $aa^\dagger=b^\dagger b+δ\1$, has been considered, and their nature of ladder operators has been deduced and analysed. Here, motivated by the spreading interest in non self-adjoint operators in Quantum Mechanics, we extend this situation to a set of four operators, $c$, $d$, $r$ and $s$, satisfying $ dc=rs+γ\1$ and $cd=sr+δ\1$, and we show that they are also ladder operators. We show their connection with biorthogonal families of vectors and with the so-called $\D$-pseudo bosons. Some ex…
The dynamics of Markovian open quantum systems are described by Lindblad master equations. For fermionic and bosonic systems that are quasi-free, i.e., with Hamiltonians that are quadratic in the ladder operators and Lindblad operators that are linear in the ladder operators, we derive the equation of motion for the covariance matrix. This determines the evolution of Gaussian initial states and the steady states, which are also Gaussian. Using ladder super-operators (a.k.a. third quantization), we show how the Liouvillian can be transformed to a many-body Jordan normal form which also reveals …
We show that for general deformations of SU(2) algebra, the dynamics in terms of ladder operators is preserved. This is done for a system of precessing magnetic dipole in magnetic field, using the unitary phase operator which arises in the polar decomposition of SU(2) operators. It is pointed out that there is a single phase operator dynamics underlying the dynamics of usual and deformed ladder operators.
In this paper, we propose an algorithm to construct coherent states for an exactly solvable position dependent mass Schrödinger equation. We use point canonical transformation method and obtain ground state eigenfunction of the position dependent mass Schrödinger equation. We fix the ladder operators in the deformed form and obtain explicit expression of the deformed superpotential in terms of mass distribution and its derivative. We also prove that these deformed operators lead to minimum uncertainty relations. Further, we illustrate our algorithm with two examples in which the coherent state…
We investigate the quantum state transfer in a chain of particles satisfying q-deformed oscillators algebra. This general algebraic setting includes the spin chain and the bosonic chain as limiting cases. We study conditions for perfect state transfer depending on the number of sites and excitations on the chain. They are formulated by means of irreducible representations of a quantum algebra realized through Jordan-Schwinger maps. Playing with deformation parameters, we can study the effects of nonlinear perturbations or interpolate between the spin and bosonic chain.
An approach to study a generalization of the classical-quantum transition for general systems is proposed. In order to develop the idea, a deformation of the ladder operators algebra is proposed that contains a realization of the quantum group $SU(2)_q$ as a particular case. In this deformation Planck's constant becomes an operator whose eigenvalues approach $\hbar $ for small values of $n$ (the eigenvalue of the number operator), and zero for large values of $n$ (the system is classicalized).
A non-Hermitian generalized oscillator model, generally known as the Swanson model, has been studied in the framework of R-deformed Heisenberg algebra. The non-Hermitian Hamiltonian is diagonalized by generalized Bogoliubov transformation. A set of deformed creation annihilation operators is introduced whose algebra shows that the transformed Hamiltonian has conformal symmetry. The spectrum is obtained using algebraic technique. The superconformal structure of the system is also worked out in detail. An anomaly related to the spectrum of the Hermitian counterpart of the non-Hermitian Hamiltoni…
We consider a rather general version of ladder operator $Z$ used by some authors in few recent papers, $[H_0,Z]=λZ$ for some $λ\in\mathbb{R}$, $H_0=H_0^\dagger$, and we show that several interesting results can be deduced from this formula. Then we extend it in two ways: first we replace the original equality with formula $[H_0,Z]=λZ[Z^\dagger, Z]$, and secondly we consider $[H,Z]=λZ$ for some $λ\in\mathbb{C}$, $H\neq H^\dagger$. In both cases many applications are discussed. In particular we consider factorizable Hamiltonians and Hamiltonians written in terms of operators satisfying the gener…
We solve the normal ordering problem for (A* A)^n where A* (resp. A) are one mode deformed bosonic creation (resp. annihilation) operators satisfying [A,A*]=[N+1]-[N]. The solution generalizes results known for canonical and q-bosons. It involves combinatorial polynomials in the number operator N for which the generating functions and explicit expressions are found. Simple deformations provide examples of the method.
We show how the one-mode pseudo-bosonic ladder operators provide concrete examples of nilpotent Lie algebras of dimension five. It is the first time that an algebraic-geometric structure of this kind is observed in the context of pseudo-bosonic operators. Indeed we don't find the well known Heisenberg algebras, which are involved in several quantum dynamical systems, but different Lie algebras which may be decomposed in the sum of two abelian Lie algebras in a prescribed way. We introduce the notion of semidirect sum (of Lie algebras) for this scope and find that it describes very well the beh…
