We considerably extend our previous analysis of the implementation of an absorptive boundary condition, which mimics saturation effects, on the linear CCFM evolution. We present detailed results for the evolution of the unintegrated gluon density in the presence of saturation and extract the energy dependence of the emerging saturation momentum. We show that CCFM and BFKL evolution lead to almost identical predictions after including the effects of gluon saturation and of the running of the coupling. We moreover elucidate several important and subtle aspects of the CCFM formalism, such as its relation to BFKL, the structure of the angular ordered cascade, and the derivation of more inclusive versions of CCFM. We also propose non--leading modifications of the standard CCFM evolution which may play an important role for phenomenological studies.
We formulate a generalization of Higgs effective field theory (HEFT) including arbitrary number of extra neutral and charged Higgs bosons (generalized HEFT, GHEFT) to describe non-minimal electroweak symmetry breaking models. Using the geometrical form of the GHEFT Lagrangian, which can be regarded as a nonlinear sigma model on a scalar manifold, it is shown that the scalar boson scattering amplitudes are described in terms of the Riemann curvature tensor (geometry) of the scalar manifold and the covariant derivatives of the potential. The coefficients of the one-loop divergent terms in the ob…

We obtain the two-loop QCD corrections to the Higgs plus three-parton amplitudes with dimension-seven operators in Higgs effective field theory. This provides the two-loop S-matrix elements for Higgs plus one-jet production at the LHC with top-mass correction. We apply efficient unitarity plus IBP methods which are described in detail. We also study the color decomposition of the fermion cuts and find a connection between fundamental and adjoint representations which can be used to reduce non-planar to planar unitarity cuts in the Higgs to three-gluon amplitudes. We obtain final results in sim…
Recently, the first ever lattice computation of the $γW$-box radiative correction to the rate of the semileptonic pion decay allowed for a reduction of the theory uncertainty of that rate by a factor of $\sim3$. A recent dispersion evaluation of the $γW$-box correction on the neutron also led to a significant reduction of the theory uncertainty, but shifted the value of $V_{ud}$ extracted from the neutron and superallowed nuclear $β$ decay, resulting in a deficit of the CKM unitarity in the top row. A direct lattice computation of the $γW$-box correction for the neutron decay would provide an …
We consider the shift of charge-to-mass ratio for extremal black holes in the context of effective field theory, motivated by the Weak Gravity Conjecture. We constrain extremality corrections in different regimes subject to unitarity and causality constraints. In the asymptotic IR, we demonstrate that for any supersymmetric theory in flat space, and for all minimally coupled theories, logarithmic running at one loop pushes the Wilson coefficient of certain four-derivative operators to be larger at lower energies, guaranteeing the existence of sufficiently large black holes with $Q>M$. We ident…
We briefly explain a novel diagrammatic method for including thermal corrections in $CP$ asymmetric reaction rates entering the quantum Boltzmann equation. In thermal equilibrium, the asymmetries have to cancel precisely due to the $S$-matrix unitarity and $CPT$ invariance. Such cancelations are easy to track in zero-temperature leading-order calculations. However, accounting for medium effects requires modification of the on-shell part of propagators and, consequently, the $CP$ violating rates. In the literature, the correct form of the statistical factors in the asymmetry source term has bee…
We give a simple proof of perturbative unitarity in gauge theories and quantum gravity using a special gauge that allows us to separate the physical poles of the free propagators, which are quantized by means of the Feynman prescription, from the poles that belong to the gauge-trivial sector, which are quantized by means of the fakeon prescription. The proof applies to renormalizable theories, including the ultraviolet complete theory of quantum gravity with fakeons formulated recently, as well as low-energy (nonrenormalizable) theories. We clarify a number of subtleties related to the study o…
In this paper, we show (i) that the NLO corrections do not change the power-like decrease of the scattering amplitude at large impact parameter ($b^2 \,>\,r^2 \exp\left( 2\bar(α}_S η(1 + 4 \barα_S)\right)$, where $r$ denotes the size of scattering dipole and $η\,=\,\ln(1/x_{Bj})$ for DIS), and, therefore, they do not resolve the inconsistency with unitarity; and (ii) they lead to an oscillating behaviour of the scattering amplitude atlarge $b$, in direct contradiction with the unitarity constraints. However, from the more practical point of view, the NLO estimates give a faster decrease of the…
