Recently, two different approaches were put forward to extend the supersymmetry method in random matrix theory from Gaussian ensembles to general rotation invariant ensembles. These approaches are the generalized Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation and the superbosonization formula. Here, we prove the equivalence of both approaches. To this end, we reduce integrals over functions of supersymmetric Wishart-matrices to integrals over quadratic supermatrices of certain symmetries.

Superbosonization of invariant random matrix ensembles

Superbosonization is a new variant of the method of commuting and anti-commuting variables as used in studying random matrix models of disordered and chaotic quantum systems. We here give a concise mathematical exposition of the key formulas of superbosonization. A conjecture on Hubbard-Stratonovich transformations for the Pruisken-Schäfer parameterisations of real hyperbolic domains

Rigorous justification of the Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation for the Pruisken-Schäfer type of parameterisations of real hyperbolic O(m,n)-invariant domains remains a challenging problem. We show that a naive choice of the volume element invalidates the transformation, and put forward a conjecture about the correct form which ensures the desired structure. Arbitrary rotation invariant random matrix ensembles and supersymmetry: orthogonal and unitary-symplectic case

Recently, the supersymmetry method was extended from Gaussian ensembles to arbitrary unitarily invariant matrix ensembles by generalizing the Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation. Here, we complete this extension by including arbitrary orthogonally and unitary-symplectically invariant matrix ensembles. The results are equivalent to, but the approach is different from the superbosonization formula. We express our results in a unifying way. We also give explicit expressions for all one-point functions and discuss features of the higher order correlations.

Equivalence of domains for hyperbolic Hubbard-Stratonovich transformations

We settle a long standing issue concerning the traditional derivation of non-compact non-linear sigma models in the theory of disordered electron systems: the hyperbolic Hubbard-Stratonovich (HS) transformation of Pruisken-Schaefer type. Hyperbolic Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation made rigorous

We revisit a long standing issue in the theory of disordered electron systems and their effective description by a non-linear sigma model: the hyperbolic Hubbard-Stratonovich (HS) transformation in the bosonic sector. For time-reversal invariant systems without spin this sector is known to have a non-compact orthogonal symmetry O(p,q). There exists an old proposal by Pruisken and Schaefer how to do the HS transformation in an O(p,q) invariant way. Giving a precise formulation of this proposal, we show that the HS integral is a sign-alternating sum of integrals over disjoint domains.

On Hubbard-Stratonovich Transformations over Hyperbolic Domains

We discuss and prove validity of the Hubbard-Stratonovich (HS) identities over hyperbolic domains which are used frequently in the studies on disordered systems and random matrices. We also introduce a counterpart of the HS identity arising in disordered systems with "chiral" symmetry. Apart from this we outline a way of deriving the nonlinear $σ$-model from the gauge-invariant Wegner $k-$orbital model avoiding the use of the HS transformations.

Negative moments of characteristic polynomials of random matrices: Ingham-Siegel integral as an alternative to Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation

We reconsider the problem of calculating arbitrary negative integer moments of the (regularized) characteristic polynomial for $N\times N$ random matrices taken from the Gaussian Unitary Ensemble (GUE). A very compact and convenient integral representation is found via the use of a matrix integral close to that considered by Ingham and Siegel.
