We study the entanglement of two disjoint intervals in the conformal field theory of the Luttinger liquid (free compactified boson). Trρ_A^n for any integer n is calculated as the four-point function of a particular type of twist fields and the final result is expressed in a compact form in terms of the Riemann-Siegel theta functions. In the decompactification limit we provide the analytic continuation valid for all model parameters and from this we extract the entanglement entropy. These predictions are checked against existing numerical data.
In this paper, we study the symmetry decomposition of Rényi negativity into charge imbalance sectors for the 1+1 dimensional free compact boson field with a global U(1) symmetry in the ground state for the case of two disjoint intervals. We obtain multi-charged and charged Rényi negativity moments by computing the four-point correlator of flux-generating vertex operators on the Riemann surface. We then obtain charge imbalance resolved Rényi negativity by taking the Fourier transform of the charged moments. Finally, we match our results against the tight-binding model as a numerical check.
We consider free-fermion chains in the ground state and the entanglement Hamiltonian for a subsystem consisting of two separated intervals. In this case, one has a peculiar long-range hopping between the intervals in addition to the well-known and dominant short-range hopping. We show how the continuum expressions can be recovered from the lattice results for general filling and arbitrary intervals. We also discuss the closely related case of a single interval located at a certain distance from the end of a semi-infinite chain and the continuum limit for this problem. Finally, we show that for…
We reconsider the computation of the entanglement entropy of two disjoint intervals in a (1+1) dimensional conformal field theory by conformal block expansion of the 4-point correlation function of twist fields. We show that accurate results may be obtained by taking into account several terms in the operator product expansion (OPE) of twist fields and by iterating the Zamolodchikov recursion formula for each conformal block. We perform a detailed analysis for the Ising conformal field theory and for the free compactified boson. Each term in the conformal block expansion can be easily analytic…

In the conformal field theories given by the Ising and Dirac models, when the system is in the ground state, the moments of the reduced density matrix of two disjoint intervals and of its partial transpose have been written as partition functions on higher genus Riemann surfaces with $\mathbb{Z}_n$ symmetry. We show that these partition functions can be expressed as the grand canonical partition functions of the two-dimensional two component classical Coulomb gas on certain circular lattices at specific values of the coupling constant.
We calculate the $N$ interval replicated negativity for the Ising and free compact boson conformal field theory using correlation functions of branch point twist fields. For some subset $P\subset N$, this is a calculation of $\rm{Tr}(ρ_A^{T_P})^n$ where $n$ is the replica index. This can be reformulated as a calculation of partition functions over superelliptic Riemann surfaces, and for the models in question, this partition function can be expressed in terms of the period matrix of this surface. We detail how to construct the period matrices for these surfaces, giving an analytic expression f…
A more complete understanding of entanglement entropy in a covariant manner could inform the search for quantum gravity. We build on work in this direction by extending previous results to disjoint regions in $1+1$D. We investigate the entanglement entropy of a scalar field in disjoint intervals within the causal set framework, using the spacetime commutator and correlator, $i\mathbfΔ$ and $\mathbf{W}$ (or the Pauli-Jordan and Wightman functions), respectively. A new truncation scheme for disjoint causal diamonds is presented, which follows from the single diamond truncation scheme. We investi…
We investigate the extension of a holographic construction for the entanglement negativity of two disjoint subsystems in proximity to $CFT_d$s with a conserved charge dual to bulk $AdS_{d+1}$ geometries. The construction involves a specific algebraic sum of the areas of bulk co-dimension two static minimal surfaces homologous to certain appropriate combinations of the subsystems in question. In this connection we compute the holographic entanglement negativity for two disjoint subsystems in proximity, with long rectangular strip geometries in $CFT_d$s dual to bulk non extremal and extremal RN-…
We advance a holographic construction for the entanglement negativity of bipartite mixed state configurations of two disjoint intervals in $(1+1)$ dimensional conformal field theories ($CFT_{1+1}$) through the $AdS_3/CFT_2$ correspondence. Our construction constitutes the large central charge analysis of the entanglement negativity for mixed states under consideration and involves a specific algebraic sum of bulk space like geodesics anchored on appropriate intervals in the dual $CFT_{1+1}$. The construction is utilized to compute the holographic entanglement negativity for such mixed states i…
We advance a construction for the covariant holographic entanglement negativity for time dependent mixed states of disjoint intervals in $(1+1)$ dimensional conformal field theories ($CFT_{1+1}$) dual to bulk non static $AdS_3$ geometries. Application of our proposal to such mixed states in a $CFT_{1+1}$ dual to bulk non extremal and extremal rotating BTZ black holes exactly reproduces the replica technique results in the large central charge limit. We also investigate the time dependent holographic entanglement negativity for such mixed states in a $CFT_{1+1}$ dual to a bulk Vaidya-$AdS_3$ ge…
The Ryu-Takayanagi conjecture predicts a holographic dual of the entanglement entropy of a CFT. It proposes that the entanglement entropy is given by the area of the minimal surface in the dual spacetime. In the semi-classical limit, this conjecture is supported by the saddle point approximation. If there are multiple classical solutions, it is assumed that only the minimal action contributes to the entanglement entropy. However, we will point out that these saddles equally contribute to the entanglement entropy in some cases. Therefore, the derivation of the conjecture is incomplete if there …
In this paper, we first study mutual information of excited states in the small subsystem size limit in generic conformal field theory. We then discuss relative entropy of two disjoint subsystems in the same limit.
We study the multi-charged moments for two disjoint intervals in the ground state of two $1+1$ dimensional CFTs with central charge $c=1$ and global $U(1)$ symmetry: the massless Dirac field theory and the compact boson (Luttinger liquid). For this purpose, we compute the partition function on the higher genus Riemann surface arising from the replica method in the presence of background magnetic fluxes between the sheets of the surface. We consider the general situation in which the fluxes generate different twisted boundary conditions at each branch point. The obtained multi-charged moments a…
We calculate the amount of entanglement shared by two intervals in the ground state of a (1+1)-dimensional conformal field theory (CFT), quantified by an entanglement measure $\mathcal{E}$ based on the computable cross norm (CCNR) criterion. Unlike negativity or mutual information, we show that $\mathcal{E}$ has a universal expression even for two disjoint intervals, which depends only on the geometry, the central charge c, and the thermal partition function of the CFT. We prove this universal expression in the replica approach, where the Riemann surface for calculating $\mathcal{E}$ at each o…
Entanglement entropy (EE) is a quantitative measure of the effective degrees of freedom and the correlation between the sub-systems of a physical system. Using the replica trick, we can obtain the EE by evaluating the entanglement Renyi entropy (ERE). The ERE is a $q$-analogue of the EE and expressed by the $q$ replicated partition function. In the semi-classical approximation, it is apparently easy to calculate the EE because the classical action represents the partition function by the saddle point approximation and we do not need to perform the path integral for the evaluation of the partit…
We find the density matrix corresponding to the vacuum state of a massless Dirac field in two dimensions reduced to a region of the space formed by several disjoint intervals. We calculate explicitly its spectral decomposition. The imaginary powers of the density matrix is a unitary operator implementing an internal time flow (the modular flow). We show that in the case of more than one interval this evolution is non-local, producing both, advance in the causal structure and "teleportation" between the disjoint intervals. However, it only mixes the fields on a finite number of trajectories, on…
We calculate the contributions of a general non-vacuum conformal family to Rényi entropy in two-dimensional conformal field theory (CFT). The primary operator of the conformal family can be either non-chiral or chiral, and we denote its scaling dimension by $Δ$. For the case of two short intervals on complex plane, we expand the Rényi mutual information by the cross ratio $x$ to order $x^{2Δ+2}$. For the case of one interval on torus with the temperature being low, we expand the Rényi entropy by $q=\exp(-2πβ/L)$, with $β$ being the inverse temperature and $L$ being the spatial period, to order…
We propose a holographic entanglement negativity conjecture involving the bulk geometry, for mixed states of adjacent intervals in $(1+1)$-dimensional dual conformal field theories through the $AdS/CFT$ correspondence. The holographic entanglement negativity is obtained from a specific algebraic sum of the geodesics anchored on respective intervals on the boundary which reduces to the holographic mutual information between them. Utilizing our conjecture we obtain the entanglement negativity of adjacent intervals in zero and finite temperature ($1+1$)-dimensional holographic conformal field the…
