光电离模式模拟结果表明,APM 08279+5255具有BLR(宽线区)云,其特征为:气体密度为log n_{H} ~ 12- 14,宽线区为log U ~ -2 - -6 $ for the ionization parameter, and E(B-V) ~ 0.3-0.6$。
We present rest-frame optical/near-infrared spectra of the gravitationally lense d quasar APM 08279+5255 at $z=3.91$ that has been taken using the Infrared Camera (IRC) onboard the AKARI infrared satellite. The observed continuum consists of two components; a power-law component dominating optical wavelengths which is the direct light from the central source and thermal emission dominating near-infrared wavelengths which is attributed to the emission from hot dust in the circumnuclear region. The thermal emission well represents optically thick emission by hot dust at T ~ 1300K with tau(2micron)> 2 and apparent mass, M(hot) >10 M_sun. Thus, our observations directly detected the optically thick region of hot dust in APM 08279+5255. HI recombination lines of H_alpha(0.656micron), Pa_alpha(1.875micron), and Pa_beta(1.282micron) are clearly detected at 3.2, 6.3, and 9.3 micron. Simulations with the photoionization models suggest that APM 08279+5255 has BLR(Broad Line Region) clouds characterized by log n_{H} ~ 12- 14 for the gas density, log U ~ -2 - -6$ for the ionization parameter, and E(B-V) ~ 0.3-0.6$for the broad line region. Thus, optically thick emission of hot dust support an idea on non-spherical distribution of dust near the central source, consistent with the Active Galactic Nuclei model with the dust torus. The temperature of hot dust and flux ratios of these HI lines are similar to those observed in low-redshift quasars. There are significant time-variations in the HI lines, which are probably caused by variations in the brightness of the central source.
We present a preliminary analysis of clustering of galaxies luminous in the near- and mid-infrared as seen by seven various ilters of the AKARI IRC instrument from 2 $μ$m to 24 $μ$m in the the AKARI NEP-Deep field. We compare populations of galaxies detected in different filters and their clustering properties. We conclude that different AKARI filters allow to trace different populations composed mainly of star-forming galaxies located in different environments. In particular, the mid-infrared filters at redshift z $\sim$ 0.8 and higher trace a population of strongly evolving galaxies located …
Much of the star formation is obscured by dust. For the complete understanding of the cosmic star formation history (CSFH), infrared (IR) census is indispensable. AKARI carried out deep mid-infrared observations using its continuous 9-band filters in the North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) field (5.4 deg$^2$). This took significant amount of satellite's lifetime, $\sim$10\% of the entire pointed observations. By combining archival Spitzer (5 bands) and WISE (4 bands) mid-IR photometry, we have, in total, 18 band mid-IR photometry, which is the most comprehensive photometric coverage in mid-IR for thousa…
Revealing what fraction of galaxies harbor AGN is central in understanding black hole accretion history of the Universe. However, optical and soft X-ray surveys miss the most highly obscured AGNs. Infrared (IR), instead, is more robust against absorption. Previous IR photometric surveys, however, only had 4 or 5 filters in mid-IR. Our AKARI North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) wide field sample has 18 filters in mid-IR (9 from AKARI, 4 from WISE, and 5 from Spitzer), for the first time, allowing a sophisticated mid-IR SED fitting diagnosis for a statistical number of sources (89178 over 5.4 deg$^2$). By …
In this research, we provide a new, efficient method to select infrared (IR) active galatic nucleus (AGN). In the past, AGN selection in IR had been established by many studies using color-color diagrams. However, those methods have a problem in common that the number of bands is limited. The AKARI North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) survey was carried out by the AKARI Infrared Camera (IRC), which has 9 filters in mid-IR with a continuous wavelength coverage from 2 to 24$μ$m$^{-1}$. Based on the intrinsic different mid-IR features of AGN and star-forming galaxies (SFGs), we performed SED fitting to sepa…
AKARI Observation of the North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) Supercluster at z = 0.087: mid-infrared view of transition galaxies
We present the first detailed analysis of three extragalactic fields (IRAC Dark Field, ELAIS-N1, ADF-S) observed by the infrared satellite, AKARI, using an optimised data analysis toolkit specifically for the processing of extragalactic point sources. The InfraRed Camera (IRC) on AKARI complements the Spitzer space telescope via its comprehensive coverage between 8-24 microns filling the gap between the Spitzer IRAC and MIPS instruments. Source counts in the AKARI bands at 3.2, 4.1, 7, 11, 15 and 18 microns are presented. At near-infrared wavelengths, our source counts are consistent with coun…
The north ecliptic pole (NEP) field is a natural deep field location for many satellite observations. It has been targeted manytimes since it was surveyed by the AKARI space telescope with its unique wavelength coverage from the near- to mid-infrared(mid-IR). Many follow-up observations have been carried out and made this field one of the most frequently observed areas witha variety of facilities, accumulating abundant panchromatic data from X-ray to radio wavelength range. Recently, a deep opticalsurvey with the Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) at the Subaru telescope covered the NEP-Wide (NEPW) field…
In order to understand the interaction between the central black hole and the whole galaxy or their co-evolution history along with cosmic time, a complete census of active galactic nuclei (AGN) is crucial. However, AGNs are often missed in optical, UV and soft X-ray observations since they could be obscured by gas and dust. A mid-infrared (mid-IR) survey supported by multiwavelength data is one of the best ways to find obscured AGN activities because it suffers less from extinction. Previous large IR photometric surveys, e.g., $WISE$ and $Spitzer$, have gaps between the mid-IR filters. Theref…
Understanding infrared (IR) luminosity is fundamental to understanding the cosmic star formation history and AGN evolution. Japanese infrared satellite, AKARI, provided unique data sets to probe this both at low and high redshift; the AKARI all sky survey in 6 bands (9-160 $μ$m), and the AKARI NEP survey in 9 bands (2-24$μ$m). The AKARI performed all sky survey in 6 IR bands (9, 18, 65, 90, 140, and 160 $μ$m) with 3-10 times better sensitivity than IRAS, covering the crucial far-IR wavelengths across the peak of the dust emission. Combined with a better spatial resolution, we measure the total…
We present the 9 and 18 micron luminosity functions (LFs) of galaxies at 0.006 < z < 0.8 (with an average redshift of ~ 0.04) using the AKARI mid-infrared all-sky survey catalog. We selected 243 galaxies at 9 micron and 255 galaxies at 18 micron from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) spectroscopy region. These galaxies were then classified by their optical emission lines, such as the line width of H_alpha or by their emission line ratios of [OIII]/H_beta and [NII]/H_alpha into five types: Type 1 active galactic nuclei (AGN) (Type 1); Type 2 AGN (Type 2); low-ionization narrow emission line g…
We present the physical properties of AKARI sources without optical counterparts in optical images from the Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) on the Subaru telescope. Using the AKARI infrared (IR) source catalog and HSC optical catalog, we select 583 objects that do not have HSC counterparts in the AKARI North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) wide survey field ($\sim 5$ deg$^{2}$). Because the HSC limiting magnitude is deep ($g_{\rm AB}$ $\sim 28.6$), these are good candidates for extremely red star-forming galaxies (SFGs) and/or active galactic nuclei (AGNs), possibly at high redshifts. We compile multi-wavelength …
Observations of the Near- to Mid-Infrared Unidentified Emission Bands in the Interstellar Medium of the Large Magellanic Cloud
在A组中,I(3.3)/I(11.3),I(6.2)/I(11.3),I(7.7)/ $I(11.3) and $ I(8.6)/ $I(11.3) show positive correlation with the IRAS and AKARI colors, but those of Group B do not follow the correlation. We discuss the results in terms of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) model and attribute the difference to the destruction of small PAHs and an increase in the recombination due to …
We present the analysis of the rest-frame optical-to-UV spectrum of APM 08279+5255, a well-known lensed broad absorption line (BAL) quasar at $z = 3.911$. The spectroscopic data are taken with the optical DOLoRes and near-IR NICS instruments at TNG, and include the previously unexplored range between C III] $λ$1910 and [O III] $λλ$4959,5007. We investigate the possible presence of multiple BALs by computing "balnicity" and absorption indexes (i.e. BI, BI$_0$ and AI) for the transitions Si IV $λ$1400, C IV $λ$1549, Al III $λ$1860 and Mg II $λ$2800. No clear evidence for the presence of absorpti…
How does the environment affect active galactic nucleus (AGN) activity? We investigated this question in an extinction-free way, by selecting 1120 infrared galaxies in the $AKARI$ North Ecliptic Pole Wide field at redshift $z$ $\leq$ 1.2. A unique feature of the $AKARI$ satellite is its continuous 9-band infrared (IR) filter coverage, providing us with an unprecedentedly large sample of IR spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of galaxies. By taking advantage of this, for the first time, we explored the AGN activity derived from SED modelling as a function of redshift, luminosity, and environme…
We present mid-infrared galaxy number counts based on the Early Release Observations obtained by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) at 7.7-, 10- and 15-$μ$m (F770W, F1000W and F1500W, respectively) bands of the Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI). Due to the superior sensitivity of JWST, the 80 percent completeness limits reach 0.32, 0.79 and 2.0 $μ$Jy in F770W, F1000W and F1500W filters, respectively, i.e., $\sim$100 times deeper than previous space infrared telescopes such as Spitzer or AKARI. The number counts reach much deeper than the broad bump around $0.05\sim0.5$ mJy due to polycyclic ar…
