It is well known that a constant O(n,n,Z) transformation can relate different string backgrounds with n commuting isometries that have very different geometric and topological properties. Here we construct discrete families of (flux) backgrounds on internal manifolds of different topologies by performing certain coordinate dependent O(d,d) transformations, where d is the dimension of the internal manifold. Our two principal examples include respectively the family of type IIB compactifications with D5 branes and O5 planes on six-dimensional nilmanifolds, and the heterotic torsional backgrounds.

Twisted N=4 Super Yang-Mills Theory in Omega-background

We study the twisted N=4 super Yang-Mills theories in the Omega-background with the constant R-symmetry Wilson line gauge field. Based on the classification of topological twists of N=4 supersymmetry (the half, the Vafa-Witten and the Marcus twists), we construct the deformed off-shell supersymmetry associated with the scalar supercharges for these twists. We find that the Omega-deformed action is written in the exact form with respect to the scalar supercharges as in the undeformed case.

Twist Quantization of String and B Field Background

In a previous paper, we investigated the Hopf algebra structure in string theory and gave a unified formulation of the quantization of the string and the space-time symmetry. Poisson-generalized geometry and $R$-flux

We study a new kind of Courant algebroid on Poisson manifolds, which is a variant of the generalized tangent bundle in the sense that the roles of tangent and the cotangent bundle are exchanged. Its symmetry is a semidirect product of $β$-diffeomorphisms and $β$-transformations. It is a starting point of an alternative version of the generalized geometry based on the cotangent bundle, such as Dirac structures and generalized Riemannian structures. Noncommutative gauge theories on D-branes in non-geometric backgrounds

We investigate the noncommutative gauge theories arising on the worldvolumes of D-branes in non-geometric backgrounds obtained by T-duality from twisted tori. We revisit the low-energy effective description of D-branes on three-dimensional T-folds, examining both cases of parabolic and elliptic twists in detail. Twisted Cohomotopy implies M-theory anomaly cancellation on 8-manifolds

We consider the hypothesis that the C-field 4-flux and 7-flux forms in M-theory are in the image of the non-abelian Chern character map from the non-abelian generalized cohomology theory called J-twisted Cohomotopy theory. We prove for M2-brane backgrounds in M-theory on 8-manifolds that such charge quantization of the C-field in Cohomotopy theory implies a list of expected anomaly cancellation conditions, including: shifted C-field flux quantization and C-field tadpole cancellation, but also the DMW anomaly cancellation and the C-field's integral equation of motion.

Perturbative contributions to Wilson loops in twisted lattice boxes and reduced models

We compute the perturbative expression of Wilson loops up to order $g^4$ for SU($N$) lattice gauge theories with Wilson action on a finite box with twisted boundary conditions. Our formulas are valid for any dimension and any irreducible twist. They contain as a special case that of the 4-dimensional Twisted Eguchi-Kawai model for a symmetric twist with flux $k$. Extended Gauge Theory Deformations From~Flux~Backgrounds

We consider supersymmetric deformations of gauge theories in various dimensions obtained from a String Theory realisation of branes embedded in flux backgrounds. In particular we obtain deformations which take the form of Wilson line defects, where the R-symmetry is twisted into the gauge symmetry. Furthermore we construct higher-order generalisations, also expressed a twisting of the R-symmetry, that have symmetries associated to co-dimension two and three defects.

N=4 Gauged Supergravity from Duality-Twist Compactifications of String Theory

We investigate the lifting of half-maximal four-dimensional gauged supergravities to compactifications of string theory. It is shown that a class of such supergravities can arise from compactifications of IIA string theory on manifolds of SU(2)-structure which may be thought of as K3 fibrations over T^2. Non-geometric Backgrounds Based on Topological Interfaces

We study simple models of the world-sheet CFTs describing non-geometric backgrounds based on the topological interfaces, the `gluing condition' of which imposes T-duality- or analogous twists. To be more specific, we start with the torus partition function on a target space S^1 [base] x (S^1 x S^1) [fiber] with rather general values of radii.
