Track Segments within Hadronic Showers using the CALICE AHCal

Using the high granular CALICE analog hadron calorimeter (AHCal) a tracking algorithm capable of identifying MIP-like tracks within hadronic showers is presented. Such an algorithm provides excellent tools for detector calibration and for studies of the substructure of hadronic showers. The properties of the identified tracks are used as observables for a Monte-Carlo to data comparison.

Calibration Issues for the CALICE 1m3 AHCAL

The CALICE collaboration investigates diferent technology options for highly granular calorimeters for detectors at a future electron-positron collider. One of the devices constructed and tested by this collaboration is a 1m3 prototype of a scintillator-steel sampling calorimeter for hadrons with analogue readout (AHCAL). Data Acquisition System for the CALICE AHCAL Calorimeter

The data acquisition system (DAQ) for a highly granular analogue hadron calorimeter (AHCAL) for the future International Linear Collider is presented. The developed DAQ chain has several stages of aggregation and scales up to 8 million channels foreseen for the AHCAL detector design. The largest aggregation device, Link Data Aggregator, has 96 HDMI connectors, four Kintex7 FPGAs and a central Zynq System-On-Chip. Architecture and performance results are shown in detail. Experience from DESY testbeams with a small detector prototype consisting of 15 detector layers are shown.

AHCAL Energy Resolution

The CALICE collaboration has constructed highly granular hadronic and electromagnetic calorimeter prototypes to evaluate technologies for the use in detector systems at a future Linear Collider. The hadron calorimeter uses 7608 small scintillator cells individually read out with silicon photomultipliers. An analog hadron calorimeter (AHCAL) prototype of 5.3 nuclear interaction lengths thickness has been designed and constructed by members of the CALICE Collaboration. Operation and Calibration of a Highly Granular Hadron Calorimeter with SiPM-on-Tile Read-out

The Analogue Hadron Calorimeter (AHCAL) is being developed within the CALICE collaboration for experiments at a future lepton collider. It is a sampling calorimeter with alternating layers of steel absorber plates and plastic scintillator tiles as active material.
