英文摘要:
We investigate the anisotropic triangular lattice that interpolates from decoupled one-dimensional chains to the isotropic triangular lattice and has been suggested to be relevant for various quasi-two-dimensional materials, such as Cs$_2$CuCl$_4$ or $κ$-(ET)$_2$Cu$_2$(CN)$_3$, an organic material that shows intriguing magnetic properties. We obtain an excellent accuracy by means of a novel representation for the resonating valence bond wave function with both singlet and triplet pairing. This approach allows us to establish that the magnetic order is rapidly destroyed away from the pure triangular lattice and incommensurate spin correlations are short range. A non-magnetic spin liquid naturally emerges in a wide range of the phase diagram, with strong one-dimensional character. The relevance of the triplet pairing for $κ$-(ET)$_2$Cu$_2$(CN)$_3$ is also discussed.
Magnetic exchange couplings can be tuned by coupling to periodic light, where the frequency and amplitude are typically varied: a process known as Floquet engineering. The polarization of the light is also important, and in this paper, we show how different polarizations, including several types of unpolarized light, can tune the exchange couplings in distinct ways. Using unpolarized light, for example, it is possible to tune the material without breaking either time-reversal or any lattice symmetries. To illustrate these effects generically, we consider single-band Hubbard models at half-fill…
Motivated by recent progress on quantum engineered Kondo lattices, we numerically investigated the local magnetic properties of a hexagonal Anderson droplet consisting of multiple rings of magnetic atoms periodically arrayed on a triangular lattice. We demonstrated the tunability of the magnetic properties via their evolution with the droplet geometry for two types of systems with distinct local orbital occupancy profile. We found that the local susceptibility of the droplet center of some types of droplets can be remarkably enhanced in contrast to the conventionally rapid decrease due to spin…

Magnetism of Cu$_2$(OH)$_3$Br single crystals based on a triangular lattice is studied by means of magnetic susceptibility, pulsed-field magnetization, and specific heat measurements. There are two inequivalent Cu$^{2+}$ sites in an asymmetric unit. Both Cu$^{2+}$ sublattices undergo a long-range antiferromagnetic (AFM) order at $T\rm_N$ = 9.3 K. Upon cooling, an anisotropy crossover from Heisenberg to $XY$ behavior is observed below 7.5 K from the anisotropic magnetic susceptibility. The magnetic field applied within the $XY$ plane induces a spin-flop transition of Cu$^{2+}$ ions between 4.9 …
The triangular lattice compound TlYbS$_2$ was prepared as large single crystals via a molten flux growth technique using sodium chloride. Anisotropic magnetic susceptibility measurements down to 0.4 K indicate a complete absence of long-range magnetic order. Despite this lack of long-range order, short-range antiferromagnetic interactions are evidenced through broad transitions, suggesting frustrated behavior. Variable magnetic field measurements reveal metamagnetic behavior at temperatures less than 2 K. Complex low temperature field-tunable magnetic behavior, in addition to no observable lon…
Molecular based spin-1/2 triangular lattice systems such as LiZn$_2$Mo$_3$O$_8$ have attracted research interest. Distortions, defects, and intersite disorder are suppressed in such molecular-based magnets, and intrinsic geometrical frustration gives rise to unconventional and unexpected ground states. Li$_2$$A$Mo$_3$O$_8$ ($A$ = In or Sc) is such a compound where spin-1/2 Mo$_3$O$_{13}$ clusters in place of Mo ions form the uniform triangular lattice. Their ground states are different according to the $A$ site. Li$_2$InMo$_3$O$_8$ undergoes conventional $120^\circ$ long-range magnetic order b…
In this study, we investigate the magnetic susceptibility, entropy, and isothermal magnetization curve of the spin-1/2 Heisenberg model on an anisotropic triangular lattice using the orthogonalized finite-temperature Lanczos method. In addition, we investigate the adiabatic magnetization curve and magnetocaloric effect. We estimate these physical quantities with sufficient accuracy in the thermodynamic limit, except at low temperatures. We observe a 1/3 magnetization plateau in the isothermal magnetization process, whereas the plateau is observed to have a slope in the adiabatic process. We sh…
With the motivation to study how non-magnetic ion site disorder affects the quantum magnetism of Ba3CoSb2O9, a spin-1/2 equilateral triangular lattice antiferromagnet, we performed DC and AC susceptibility, specific heat, elastic and inelastic neutron scattering measurements on single crystalline samples of Ba2.87Sr0.13CoSb2O9 with Sr doping on non-magnetic Ba2+ ion sites. The results show that Ba2.87Sr0.13CoSb2O9 exhibits (i) a two-step magnetic transition at 2.7 K and 3.3 K, respectively; (ii) a possible canted 120-degree spin structure at zero field with reduced ordered moment as 1.24μB/Co;…
The spin-$\frac12$ triangular lattice antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model has been for a long time the prototypical model of magnetic frustration. However, only very recently this model has been proposed to be realized in the Ba$_8$CoNb$_6$O$_{24}$ compound. The ground-state and thermodynamic properties are evaluated from a high-temperature series expansions interpolation method, called "entropy method", and compared to experiments. We find a ground-state energy $e_0 = -0.5445(2)$ in perfect agreement with exact diagonalization results. We also calculate the specific heat and entropy at all tem…
This article reports the structural and magnetic characterisation of a new hexagonal ($P6_3cm$) low-temperature phase of Ba$_3$Tb(BO$_3$)$_3$, isostructural with the heavier lanthanide borates with formula Ba$_3$Ln(BO$_3$)$_3$ (Ln = Dy-Lu). The crystal structure contains a quasi-two-dimensional (2D) triangular lattice of Tb$^{3+}$ ions and is predicted to display unusual magnetic behaviour as a result of the low dimensionality. Magnetic susceptibility $χ(T)$ shows antiferromagnetic interactions ($θ_{CW} = -7.15$ K) and no sharp ordering transition at $T \geq 2$ K, but analysis of $χ'(T)$, isot…
Ground state properties of the spin$-1/2$ Falicov-Kimball model on a triangular lattice in the presence of uniform external magnetic field are explored. Both the orbital and the Zeeman field-induced effects are taken into account and in each unit cell only rational flux fractions are considered. Numerical results, obtained with the help of Monte Carlo simulation algorithm, reveal that the ground state properties strongly depend on the onsite Coulomb correlation between itinerant and localized electrons, orbital magnetic field as well as the Zeeman splitting. Strikingly, for the on-site Coulomb…
RV6Sn6 (R=rare earth) compounds are appealing materials platforms for exploring the interplay between R-site magnetism and nontrivial band topology associated with the nonmagnetic vanadium-based kagome network. Here we present the synthesis and characterization of the kagome metal TbV6Sn6 via single-crystal x-ray diffraction, magnetization, transport, and heat capacity measurements. Magnetization measurements reveal strong, uniaxial magnetic anisotropy rooted in the alignment of Tb3Å moments in the interplane direction below 4.3(2) K. TbV6Sn6 exhibits multiband transport behavior with high mob…
Magnetic order on the spatially anisotropic triangular lattice of $α$-NaMnO$_2$ is studied via neutron diffraction measurements. The transition into a commensurate, collinear antiferromagnetic ground state with $\mathbf{k}=(0.5, 0.5, 0)$ was found to occur below $T_\mathrm{N}=22$ K. Above this temperature, the transition is preceded by the formation of a coexisting, short-range ordered, incommensurate state below $T_\mathrm{IC}=45$ K whose two dimensional propagation vector evolves toward $\mathbf{k}=(0.5, 0.5)$ as the temperature approaches $T_{\mathrm{N}}$. At high temperatures ($T>T_\mathrm…
Quantum antiferromagnets with geometrical frustration exhibit rich many-body physics but are hard to simulate by means of classical computers. Although quantum-simulation studies for analyzing such systems are thus desirable, they are still limited to high temperature regions, where interesting quantum effects are smeared out. Here, we propose a feasible protocol to perform analog quantum simulation of frustrated antiferromagnetism with strong quantum fluctuations by using ultracold Bose gases in optical lattices at negative absolute temperatures. Specifically, we show from numerical simulatio…

The time-dependent exact-diagonalization method is used to study the light-induced phase transition of magnetic orders in the anisotropic triangular-lattice Hubbard model. Calculating the spin correlation function, we confirm that the phase transition from the 120$^{\circ}$ order to the Néel order can take place due to high-frequency periodic fields. We show that the effective Heisenberg-model Hamiltonian derived from the high-frequency expansion by the Floquet theory describes the present system very well and that the ratio of the exchange interactions expressed in terms of the frequency and …

When Heisenberg spins interact antiferromagnetically on a triangular lattice and nearest-neighbor interactions dominate, the ground state is 120$^{\circ}$ antiferromagnetism. In this work, we probe the response of this state to lifting the triangular symmetry, through investigation of the triangular antiferromagnet PdCrO$_2$ under uniaxial stress by neutron diffraction and resistivity measurements. The periodicity of the magnetic order is found to change rapidly with applied stress; the rate of change indicates that the magnetic anisotropy is roughly forty times the stress-induced bond length …
