Generalizations of the reduced model of super Yang-Mills theory obtained by replacing the Lie algebra structure to Filippov $n$-algebra structures are studied. Conditions for the reduced model actions to be supersymmetric are examined. These models are related with what we call $\{cal N}_{min}=2$ super $p$-brane actions.
1-loop vacuum energies of (fuzzy) spacetimes from a supersymmetric reduced model with Filippov 3-algebra are discussed. A_{2,2} algebra, Nambu-Poisson algebra in flat spacetime, and a Lorentzian 3-algebra are examined as 3-algebras.
We consider supersymmetric extensions of a recently proposed partonic description of a bosonic p-brane which reformulates the Nambu-Goto action as an interacting multi-particle action with Filippov-Lie algebra gauge symmetry. We construct a worldline supersymmetric action by postulating, among others, a p-form fermion. Demanding a local worldline supersymmetry rather than the full worldvolume supersymmetry, we circumvent a known no-go theorem against the construction of a Ramond-Neveu-Schwarz supersymmetric action for a p-brane of p>1. We also derive a spacetime supersymmetric Green-Schwarz ex…
For the SU(N) invariant supersymmetric matrix model related to membranes in 4 space-time dimensions we argue that <Psi,chi> = 0 for the previously obtained solution of Q chi = 0, Q^{dagger} Psi = 0.
We calculate the power law decay, and asymptotic form of a (unique) SO(9) and SU(2) invariant wave function satisfying, to leading and sub-leading order, $Q_{\hatβ} ψ= 0$ for all 16 supercharges of the matrix model corresponding to supermembranes in 11 space-time dimensions.
We investigate semiclassical properties of space-time geometry of the low energy limit of reduced four dimensional supersymmetric Yang-Mills integrals using Monte-Carlo simulations. The limit is obtained by an one-loop approximation of the original Yang-Mills integrals leading to an effective model of branched polymers. We numerically determine the behaviour of the gyration radius, the two-point correlation function and the Polyakov-line operator in the effective model and discuss the results in the context of the large-distance behaviour of the original matrix model.
We showed in hep-th/0303210 that the Dijkgraaf-Vafa theory can be regarded as large-N reduction in the case of $\mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetric U(N) gauge theories, with single adjoint matter. We generalize this to gauge theories with gauge groups being the products of some unitary groups coupled to bifundamental or fundamental matter. We show that some large-N reduced models of these theories are supermatrix models, whose free energy is equivalent to the prepotentials of the original gauge theories. The supermatrix model in our approach should be taken in the Veneziano limit $N_c,N_f \to \infty…
In this paper, we consider a reduced supersymmetric Yang-Mills integral with four supercharges by using a Gaussian approximation scheme and its improved version. We calculate the free energy and the expectation values of Polyakov loop and Wilson loop operators by extending the method employed in the bosonic case in the previous paper. Our results nicely match to the exact and the numerical results obtained before. The loop amplitudes exhibit good scaling behaviors similarly as in the bosonic case. The 't Hooft like large $N$ limit leads simple formulas for the case of the loop length smaller. …
We consider evidence for the existence of gauge configurations with fractional charge in pure N=1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory . We argue that these field configurations are singular and have to be treated as distributions. It is shown that the path integral representation of constant Green's functions can be reduced to a finite dimensional integral. The fractional configurations are essentially the zero size limit of the usual instantons and they have a reduced number of fermionic zero modes. At the end we comment on the status of the D-instanton/YM-instanton correspondence within AdS/CFT…
Using the Eguchi-Kawai equivalence, we provide regularizations of supersymmetric quiver and Chern-Simons gauge theories which leave the supersymmetries unbroken. This allow us to study many interesting theories on a computer. As examples we construct large-$N$ reduced models of supersymmetric QCD with flavor and the ABJM model of multiple M2 branes.
We investigate the large N reduced model of gauge theory on a curved spacetime through the plane wave matrix model. We formally derive the action of the N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory on R \times S^3 from the plane wave matrix model in the large N limit. Furthermore, we evaluate the effective action of the plane wave matrix model up to the two-loop level at finite temperature. We find that the effective action is consistent with the free energy of the N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory on S^3 at high temperature limit where the planar contributions dominate. We conclude that the plane …
We consider dimensionally reduced versions of N=2 four- dimensional supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and determine the one-loop effective Lagrangians associated with the motion over the corresponding moduli spaces. In the (0+1) case, the effective Lagrangian describes an N=4 supersymmetric quantum mechanics of the Diaconescu--Entin type. In (1+1) dimensions, the effective Lagrangian represents a twisted N=4 supesymmetric sigma model due to Gates, Hull, and Rocek. We discuss the genetic relationship between these two models and present the explicit results for all gauge groups.
Two-loop Gell-Mann-Low function is calculated for N=1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory, regularized by higher covariant derivatives. The integrals, which define it, are shown to be reduced to total derivatives and can be easily calculated analytically.
We study numerically the geometric properties of reduced supersymmetric non-compact SU(N) Yang-Mills integrals in D=4 dimensions, for N = 2,3, ..., 8. We show that in the range of large eigenvalues of the matrices A^mu, the original D-dimensional rotational symmetry is spontaneously broken and the dominating field configurations become one-dimensional, as anticipated by studies of the underlying surface theory. We also discuss possible implications of our results for the IKKT model.
We present a model for supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in 10+2 dimensions. Our construction uses a constant null vector, and leads to a consistent set of field equations and constraints. The model is invariant under generalized translations and an extra gauge transformation. Ordinary dimensional reduction to ten dimensions yields the usual supersymmetric Yang-Mills equations, while dimensional reduction to 2+2 yields supersymmetric Yang-Mills equations in which the Poincaré supersymmetry is reduced by a null vector. We also give the corresponding formulation in superspace.
We analyze the holographic description of non-singlet baryons in various backgrounds with reduced supersymmetries and/or confinement. We show that they exist in all AdS_5xY_5 backgrounds with Y_5 an Einstein manifold bearing five form flux, for a number of quarks 5N/8< k< N, independently on the supersymmetries preserved. This result still holds for gamma_i deformations. In the confining Maldacena-Nunez background non-singlet baryons also exist, although in this case the interval for the number of quarks is reduced as compared to the conformal case. We generalize these configurations to includ…
We propose to use the second Hopf map for the reduction (via SU(2) group action) of the eight-dimensional N=8 supersymmetric mechanics to five-dimensional supersymmetric systems specified by the presence of an SU(2) Yang monopole. For our purpose we develop the relevant Lagrangian reduction procedure. The reduced system is characterized by its invariance under the N=5 or N=4 supersymmetry generators (with or without an additional conserved BRST charge operator) which commute with the su(2) generators.
We discuss some properties of a supersymmetric matrix model that is the dimensional reduction of supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in ten dimensions and which has been recently argued to represent the short-distance structure of M theory in the infinite momentum frame. We describe a reduced version of the matrix quantum mechanics and derive the Nicolai map of the simplified supersymmetric matrix model. We use this to argue that there are no phase transitions in the large-N limit, and hence that S-duality is preserved in the full eleven dimensional theory.
The bihamiltonian structure of the N=2 Supersymmetric Boussinesq equation is found. It is not reduced to the corresponding classical structure and hence it describes the pure supersymmetric effect. For the supersymmetric Boussinesq equation which contains the classical partner the Lax pair is given explicitly. Thus we prove the integrability of the equation.
Dimensionally reduced supersymmetric theories retain a great deal of information regarding their higher dimensional origins. In superspace, this "memory" allows us to restore the action governing a reduced theory to that describing its higher-dimensional progenitor. We illustrate this by restoring four-dimensional N=4 Yang-Mills to its six-dimensional parent, N=(1,1) Yang-Mills. Supersymmetric truncation is introduced into this framework and used to obtain the N=1 action in six dimensions. We work in light-cone superspace, dealing exclusively with physical degrees of freedom.
We establish N=(1/8,1) supersymmetric Yang-Mills vector multiplet with generalized self-duality in Euclidian eight-dimensions with the original full SO(8) Lorentz covariance reduced to SO(7). The key ingredient is the usage of octonion structure constants made compatible with SO(7) covariance and chirality in 8D. By a simple dimensional reduction together with extra constraints, we derive N=1/8+7/8 supersymmetric self-dual vector multiplet in 7D with the full SO(7) Lorentz covariance reduced to G_2. We find that extra constraints needed on fields and supersymmetry parameter are not obtained fr…
We make two remarks: (i) Renormalization of the effective charge in a 4--dimensional (supersymmetric) gauge theory is determined by the same graphs and is rigidly connected to the renormalization of the metric on the moduli space of the classical vacua of the corresponding reduced quantum mechanical system. Supersymmetry provides constraints for possible modifications of the metric, and this gives us a simple proof of nonrenormalization theorems for the original 4-dimensional theory. (ii) We establish a nontrivial relationship between the effective (0+1)-dimensional and (1+1)-dimensional Lagra…
We elaborate the two-fold simplex-like structures of tree amplitudes in planar maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills (N=4 SYM), through its connection to a mathematical structure known as the positive Grassmannian. Exploiting the reduced Grassmannian geometry and the matrix form of on-shell recursion relation in terms of super momentum twistors, we manifest that tree amplitudes can be remarkably refined via the essential building blocks named as fully-spanning cells. For a fixed number of negative helicities, an amplitude can be entirely captured by finite, compact information of the relevant fu…
Extended supersymmetric sigma-model is given, standing on the SO(2N+1) Lie algebra of fermion operators composed of annihilation-creation operators and pair operators. Canonical transformation, the extension of the SO(2N) Bogoliubov transformation to the SO(2N+1) group, is introduced. Embedding the SO(2N+1) group into an SO(2N+2) group and using SO(2N+2)/U(N+1) coset variables, we investigate a new aspect of the supersymmetric sigma-model on the Kaehler manifold of the symmetric space SO(2N+2)/U(N+1). We construct a Killing potential which is just the extension of the Killing potential in the …
The reduced field equations and BPS conditions are derived in Type IIB supergravity for configurations of the Janus type, characterized by an $AdS_4$-slicing of $AdS_5$, and various degrees of internal symmetry and supersymmetry. A generalization of the Janus solution, which includes a varying axion along with a varying dilaton, and has SO(6) internal symmetry, but completely broken supersymmetry, is obtained analytically in terms of elliptic functions. A supersymmetric solution with 4 conformal supersymmetries, SU(3) internal symmetry, a varying axion along with a varying dilaton, and non-tri…
We have constructed a complete action for the system of N D0-branes in flat 10D type IIA superspace. It is invariant under the rigid spacetime supersymmetry and local worldline supersymmetry ($κ$-symmetry). This latter can be considered as supersymmetry of maximal 1d SU(N) SYM model which is made local by coupling to supergravity induced by embedding of the center of energy worldline into the target superspace. The spinor moving frame technique is essentially used to achieve such a coupling. We discuss the differences with Panda-Sorokin multiple 0-brane action and with the dimensionally reduce…
The quantum Hamiltonian reduction on the OSp(1,2) super Kac-Moody algebra is described in the BRST formalism. Using a free field representation of the KM currents, the super Kac-Moody algebra is shown to be reduced to a superconformal one via the Hamiltonian reduction. This reduction is manifestly supersymmetric because of supersymmetric constraints imposed on the algebra.
The recently proposed supersymmetric extensions of reduced Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) integrable hierarchies in $N =1,2$ superspace are shown to contain in the purely bosonic limit new types of ordinary non-supersymmetric integrable systems. The latter are coupled systems of several multi-component non-linear Schr{ö}dinger-like hierarchies whose basic nonlinear evolution equations contain additional quintic and higher-derivative nonlinear terms. Also, we obtain the N=2 supersymmetric extension of Toda chain model as Darboux-B{ä}cklund orbit of the simplest reduced N=2 super-KP hierarchy and f…
We consider the field theory on non-commutative superspace and non-commutative spacetime that arises on D-branes in Type II superstring theory with a constant self-dual graviphoton and NS-NS $B$ field background. $\N=1$ supersymmetric field theories on this non-commutative space (such theories are called $\N=1/2$ supersymmetric theories.) can be reduced to supermatrix models as in hep-th/0303210 \cite{KKM}. We take an appropriate commutative limit in these theories and show that holomorphic quantities in commutative field theories are equivalent to reduced models, including non-planar diagrams…
Recently four-point holographic correlators with arbitrary external BPS operators were constructively derived in [1,2] at tree-level for maximally superconformal theories. In this paper, we capitalize on these theoretical data, and perform a detailed study of their analytic properties. We point out that these maximally supersymmetric holographic correlators exhibit a hidden dimensional reduction structure à la Parisi and Sourlas. This emergent structure allows the correlators to be compactly expressed in terms of only scalar exchange diagrams in a dimensionally reduced spacetime, where formall…
The extended supersymmetric (SUSY) sigma-model has been proposed on the bases of SO(2N+1) Lie algebra spanned by fermion annihilation-creation operators and pair operators. The canonical transformation, extension of an SO(2N) Bogoliubov transformation to an SO(2N+1) group, is introduced. Embedding the SO(2N+1) group into an SO(2N+2) group and using SO(2N+2)/U(N+1) coset variables, we have investigated the SUSY sigma-model on the Kaehler manifold, the coset space SO(2N+2)/U(N+1). We have constructed the Killing potential, extension of the potential in the SO(2N)/U(N) coset space to that in the …
We analyze the phase structure of supersymmetric chiral gauge theories with gauge group SU(N), an antisymmetric, and F<N+4 flavors, in the presence of a cubic superpotential. When F=N+3 the theory flows to a superconformal fixed point in the infrared, and new dual descriptions of this theory are uncovered. The theory with odd N admits a self-dual magnetic description. For general N, we find an infinite family of magnetic dual descriptions, characterized by arbitrarily large gauge groups and additional classical global symmetries that are truncated by nonperturbative effects. The infrared dynam…
We consider a broad class of consistently reduced Manin-Radul supersymmetric KP hierarchies (MR-SKP) which are supersymmetric analogs of the ordinary bosonic constrained KP models. Compatibility of these reductions with the MR fermionic isospectral flows is achieved via appropriate modification of the latter preserving their (anti-)commutation algebra. Unlike the general unconstrained MR-SKP case, Darboux-Backlund transformations do preserve the fermionic isospectral flows of the reduced MR-SKP hierarchies. This allows for a systematic derivation of explicit Berezinian solutions for the super-…
We propose to consider the N=4,d=1 supermultiplet with $% (4,4,0) component content as a ``root'' one. We elaborate a new reduction scheme from the ``root'' multiplet to supermultiplets with a smaller number of physical bosons. Starting from the most general sigma-model type action for the ``root'' multiplet, we explicitly demonstrate that the actions for the rest of linear and nonlinear N=4 supermultiplets can be easily obtained by reduction. Within the proposed reduction scheme there is a natural possibility to introduce Fayet-Iliopoulos terms. In the reduced systems, such terms give rise to…
We study supersymmetric solutions in 7- and 8-dimensional Abelian heterotic supergravity theories. In dimension 7, the solutions are described by $G_{2}$ with torsion equations. When a $G_{2}$ manifold has principal orbits $S^{3} \times S^{3}$, the equations are reduced to ordinary differential equations with four radial functions. For these equations we obtain explicit ALC metrics with $S^{3}$-bolt and $T^{1,1}$-bolt singularities. In dimension 8, we study supersymmetric solutions to $Spin(7)$ with torsion equations associated with 3-Sasakian manifolds by using a similar method to the case $G…
A supersymmetric formulation of a three-dimensional SYM-Chern-Simons theory using light-cone quantization is presented, and the supercharges are calculated in light-cone gauge. The theory is dimensionally reduced by requiring all fields to be independent of the transverse dimension. The result is a non-trivial two-dimensional supersymmetric theory with an adjoint scalar and an adjoint fermion. We perform a numerical simulation of this SYM-Chern-Simons theory in 1+1 dimensions using SDLCQ (Supersymmetric Discrete Light-Cone Quantization). We find that the character of the bound states of this t…
In the present and accompanying papers we explicitly construct the on-shell supersymmetric component actions for 3-branes moving in D=6 and in D=8 within the nonlinear realizations framework. In the first paper we apply our schema to construct the action of supersymmetric 3-brane in D=6. It turns out that all ingredients entering the component action can be obtained almost algorithmically by using the nonlinear realizations approach. Within this approach, properly adapted to the construction of on-shell component actions, we pay much attention to broken supersymmetry. Doing so, we were able to…
We present a consistent truncation of IIB supergravity on manifolds admitting a Sasaki-Einstein structure, which keeps the metric and five real scalar fields. This theory can be further truncated to a constrained one-parameter family that depends on only the metric and one scalar, as well as to a theory with a metric and three scalars. The reduced theory admits supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric AdS_5 and AdS_4 x R solutions. We analyze the spectrum around the AdS critical points and identify the dual operators.
It is shown that there exists an on-shell light cone gauge where half of the fermionic components of the super vector potential vanish, so that part of the superspace flatness conditions becomes linear. After reduction to $(1+1)$ space-time dimensions, the general solution of this subset of equations is derived. The remaining non-linear equations are written in a form which is analogous to Yang equations, albeit with superderivatives involving sixteen fermionic coordinates. It is shown that this non-linear part may, nevertheless, be solved by methods similar to powerful technics previously dev…
For all types of N=4 anti-de Sitter (AdS) supersymmetry in three dimensions, we construct manifestly supersymmetric actions for Abelian vector multiplets and explain how to extend the construction to the non-Abelian case. Manifestly N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) actions are explicitly given in the cases of (2,2) and critical (4,0) AdS supersymmetries. The N=4 vector multiplets and the corresponding actions are then reduced to (2,0) AdS superspace, in which only N=2 supersymmetry is manifest. Using the off-shell structure of the N=4 vector multiplets, we provide complete N=4 SYM actions i…
Manifest N=2 supersymmetric Toda systems are constructed from the $sl(n,n+1)$ superalgebras by taking into account their complex structure. In the $n\to \infty$ continuum limit an N=2 extension of the $(2+1)$-dimensional heavenly equation is obtained. The integrability is guaranteed by the existence of a supersymmetric Lax pair. We further analyze the properties of the $(1+1)$-dimensionally reduced system. Its bosonic sector is of hydrodynamical type. This is not the case for the whole supersymmetric system which, however, is super-hydrodynamical when properly expressed in terms of a supergeom…
We show how the Riemann surface $Σ$ of $N=2$ Yang-Mills field theory arises in type II string compactifications on Calabi-Yau threefolds. The relevant local geometry is given by fibrations of ALE spaces. The $3$-branes that give rise to BPS multiplets in the string descend to self-dual strings on the Riemann surface, with tension determined by a canonically fixed Seiberg-Witten differential $λ$. This gives, effectively, a dual formulation of Yang-Mills theory in which gauge bosons and monopoles are treated on equal footing, and represents the rigid analog of type II-heterotic string duality. T…
We study additional non-isospectral symmetries of constrained (reduced) N=2 supersymmetric KP hierarchies of integrable ``soliton''-like evolution equations. These symmetries are shown to form an infinite-dimensional non-Abelian superloop superalgebra. Furthermore we study the general Darboux-Backlund (DB) transformations (including adjoint-DB and binary DB) of N=2 super- KP hierarchies preserving (most of) the additional symmetries. Also we derive the explicit form of the general DB (N=2 ``super- soliton''-like) solutions in the form of generalized Wronskian-like super-determinants.
By using supermanifold techniques we prove a generalization of the localization formula in equivariant cohomology which is suitable for studying supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories in terms of ADHM data. With these techniques one can compute the reduced partition functions of topological super Yang-Mills theory with 4, 8 or 16 supercharges. More generally, the superlocalization formula can be applied to any topological field theory in any number of dimensions.
We analyze the Euclidean version of supersymmetric quantum mechanics on the lattice by means of a numerical path integral. We consider two different lattice derivatives and improve the actions containing them with respect to supersymmetry by systematically adding interaction terms with non-zero extent. To quantize this improvement, we measure boson and fermion masses and Ward identities for the naive as well as the improved models. The masses are degenerate in all models, but the magnitude of the Ward identities decreases significantly for both derivative operators using the improved actions. …
We investigate the Seiberg-Witten monopole equations on noncommutative(N.C.) R^4 at the large N.C. parameter limit, in terms of the equivariant cohomology. In other words, N}=2 supersymmetric U(1) gauge theories with hypermultiplet on N.C. R}^4 are studied. It is known that after topological twisting partition functions of N}>1 supersymmetric theories on N.C. R^2D are invariant under N.C.parameter shift, then the partition functions can be calculated by its dimensional reduction. At the large N.C. parameter limit, the Seiberg-Witten monopole equations are reduced to ADHM equations with the Dir…
In the present work we search for renormalization group invariant relations among the various massless and massive parameters of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We find that indeed several of the previously free parameters of the model can be reduced in favor of few, the unique gauge coupling and the gaugino mass at the unification scale among them. Taking into account the various experimental constraints, including the B-physics ones, we predict the Higgs and the supersymmetric spectrum. We find that the lightest Higgs mass is in comfortable agreement with the measured value and it…
We analyze in detail a sharp transition between the low-energy, low-dimensional eigenstates and the high-energy chaotic bulk of the spectrum for a simple supersymmetric quantum-mechanical model with Hamiltonian $\hat{H}_S = \left(\hat{p}_1^2 + \hat{p}_2^2 + \hat{x}_1^2 \, \hat{x}_2^2 \right) \otimes I + \hat{x}_1 \otimes σ_1 + \hat{x}_2 \otimes σ_3$, which mimics the structure of the Banks-Fischler-Susskind-Stanford (BFSS) matrix model, the spatially compactified $\mathcal{N} = 1$ super-Yang-Mills theory. We conjecture that this transition might be similar to the transition between the $D0$-br…
We evaluate the twisted partition function of four-dimensional $\mathcal{N} = 1$ supersymmetric Yang--Mills theory reduced to a point for all simple gauge groups. The partition function is expressed as a sum of residues. The types of residues that appear are classified by distinguished nilpotent orbits. Surprisingly, the multiplicity of residues of each type is proportional to their common value. The sum over residues has the same form as the Plancherel measure for Yang's system of particles. Intriguingly, the precise constants appearing in the Plancherel measure also appear in the formal degr…
We propose a gauge theory of gravitation. The gauge potential is a connection of the Super SL(2,C) group. A MacDowell-Mansouri type of action is proposed where the action is quadratic in the Super SL(2,C) curvature and depends purely on gauge connection. By breaking the symmetry of the Super SL(2,C) topological gauge theory to SL(2,C), a spinor metric is naturally defined. With an auxiliary anti-commuting spinor field, the theory is reduced to general relativity. The Hamiltonian variables are related to the ones given by Ashtekar. The auxiliary spinor field plays the role of Witten spinor in t…
We use Monte Carlo methods to directly evaluate D-dimensional SU(N) Yang-Mills partition functions reduced to zero Euclidean dimensions, with and without supersymmetry. In the non-supersymmetric case, we find that the integrals exist for D=3, N>3 and D=4, N>2 and, lastly, D >= 5, N >= 2. We conclude that the D=3 and D=4 integrals exist in the large N limit, and therefore lead to a well-defined, new type of Eguchi-Kawai reduced gauge theory. For the supersymmetric case, we check, up to SU(5), recently proposed exact formulas for the D=4 and D=6 D-instanton integrals, including the explicit form…
We present a procedure to improve the lattice definition of $\mathcal N = 4$ supersymmetric Yang--Mills theory. The lattice construction necessarily involves U(1) flat directions, and we show how these can be lifted without violating the exact lattice supersymmetry. The basic idea is to modify the equations of motion of an auxiliary field, which determine the moduli space of the system. Applied to numerical calculations, the resulting improved lattice action leads to dramatically reduced violations of supersymmetric Ward identities and much more rapid approach to the continuum limit.
In a supersymmetric compactification of Type II supergravity, preservation of ${\cal{N}} = 1$ supersymmetry in four dimensions requires that the structure group of the generalized tangent bundle $TM \oplus T^*M$ of the six dimensional internal manifold $M$ is reduced from $SO(6,6)$ to $SU(3) \times SU(3)$. This topological condition on the internal manifold implies existence of two globally defined compatibe pure spinors $Φ_1$ and $Φ_2$ of non-vanishing norm. Furthermore, these pure spinors should satisfy certain first order differential equations. In this paper, we show that Non-Abelian T-dua…
The reduction of couplings idea consists in the search for renormalization group invariant relations between seemingly independent parameters of a theory that hold to all orders of perturbation theory. This concept can be applied to $N=1$ GUTs and make them all-loop finite. In the first part of this thesis, after a review of the reduction of couplings method and the properties of finiteness, four models are analysed: a reduced version of the minimal $N=1$ $SU(5)$, a finite $N=1$ $SU(5)$, a two-loop finite $N=1$ $SU(3)^3$ and a reduced version of the MSSM. An update in the phenomenological eval…
