Supersymmetric models with extended group structure beyond the standard model are revisited in the framework of general gauge mediation. Sum rules for sfermion masses are shown to depend genuinely on the group structure, which can serve as important probes for specific models. The left-right model and models with extra U(1) are worked out for illustrations. If the couplings of extra gauge groups are small, supersymmetric hidden valleys of the scale 10-100 GeV can be naturally constructed in companion of a TeV-scale supersymmetric visible sector.
Assuming there is a new gauge group in a Hidden Valley, and a new type of radiation, can we observe it through its effect on the kinematic distributions of recoiling visible particles? Specifically, what are the collider signatures of radiation in a hidden sector? We address these questions using a generic SU(N)-like Hidden Valley model that we implement in Pythia. We find that in both the e+e- and the LHC cases the kinematic distributions of the visible particles can be significantly affected by the valley radiation. Without a proper understanding of such effects, inferred masses of "communic…
We investigate the LHC signals of a minimal supersymmetric hidden valley. Our theory consists of the supersymmetric Standard Model along with a light hidden U(1)_x gauge multiplet and a pair of hidden chiral superfields that spontaneously break the new Abelian gauge symmetry near a GeV. The visible and hidden sectors interact exclusively through supersymmetric gauge kinetic mixing. We perform a thorough examination of the hidden decay cascades initiated by the lightest Standard Model superpartner and we study the range of LHC signals they can produce. In particular, we find parameter regions t…
A hidden valley sector may havea profound impact on the classic phenomenology of supersymmetry. This occurs if the LSP lies in the valley sector. In addition to reducing the standard missing energy signals and possibly providing displaced vertices (phenomena familiar from gauge-mediated and R-parity-violating models) it may lead to a variable multiplicity of new neutral particles, whose decays produce soft jets and/or leptons, and perhaps additional displaced vertices. Combined, these issues might obscure supersymmetric particle production from search strategies used on current Tevatron data a…
We consider current precision electroweak data, Z' searches and dark matter constraints and analyse their implications for an extension of the SM that includes an extra U(1)' massive gauge boson and a particular hidden sector ("hidden valley") with a confining (QCD-like) gauge group. The constraints on the Z' with arbitrary Z-Z' kinetic mixing coming from direct searches and precision tests of the Standard Model are analysed and shown to lead to a lower limit of 800 GeV on its mass. Renormalisable interactions involving the Z' probe the physics of the hidden valley sector which contains a pseu…
We study the phenomenology of, and search techniques for, a class of "Hidden Valleys." These models are characterized by low mass (well below a TeV) bound states resulting from a confining gauge interaction in a hidden sector; the states include a spin-one resonance that can decay to lepton pairs. Assuming that the hidden sector communicates to the Standard Model (SM) through TeV suppressed operators, taking into account the constraint from the $Z$ pole physics at LEP, searches at Tevatron may be difficult in the particular class of Hidden Valleys we consider, so that we concentrate on the sea…
We study 5D gauge symmetries in the Randall-Sundrum geometry that are hidden from the standard model through either small 5D gauge coupling, or through vanishing quantum numbers for the standard model fields. Geometric warping of 5D gravity creates a TeV scale bridge from the standard model to the hidden sector gauge fields. We apply these concepts to a revival of the electroweak axion model, in which the dynamics of Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking occur at the TeV scale.
We study the recent $e^\pm$ cosmic ray excess reported by DAMPE in a Hidden Valley Model with lepton-portal dark matter. We find the electron-portal can account for the excess well and satisfy the DM relic density and direct detection bounds, while electron+muon/electron+muon+tau-portal suffers from strong constraints from lepton flavor violating observables, such as $μ\to 3 e$. We also discuss possible collider signatures of our model, both at the LHC and a future 100 TeV hadron collider.
We consider the possibility that the Higgs boson can act as a link to a hidden sector in the context of pure-glue hidden valley models. In these models the standard model is weakly coupled, through loops of heavy messengers fields, to a hidden sector whose low energy dynamics is described by a pure-Yang-Mills theory. Such a hidden sector contains several metastable hidden glueballs. In this work we shall extend earlier results on hidden valleys to include couplings of the messengers to the standard model Higgs sector. The effective interactions at one-loop couple the hidden gluons to the stand…
We propose a framework of supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model that can ameliorate both the SUSY Higgs mass problem and the missing superpartner problem. New vectorlike matter fields couple to the Higgs and provide new loop contributions to its mass. New Yukawa couplings are sizable and large supersymmetry breaking is not needed to lift the Higgs mass. To avoid a Landau pole for the new Yukawa couplings, these fields are charged under a new gauge group, which confines and leads to a Hidden Valley-like phenomenology. The Hidden Valley sector is almost supersymmetric and ordinary spar…
It is possible that the standard model is coupled, through new massive charged or colored particles, to a hidden sector whose low energy dynamics is controlled by a pure Yang-Mills theory, with no light matter. Such a sector would have numerous metastable "hidden glueballs" built from the hidden gluons. These states would decay to particles of the standard model. We consider the phenomenology of this scenario, and find formulas for the lifetimes and branching ratios of the most important of these states. The dominant decays are to two standard model gauge bosons, or by radiative decays with ph…
We consider examples of ``hidden-valley'' models, in which a new confining gauge group is added to the standard model. Such models often arise in string constructions, and elsewhere. The resulting (electrically-neutral) bound states can have low masses and long lifetimes, and could be observed at the LHC and Tevatron. Production multiplicities are often large. Final states with heavy flavor are common; lepton pairs, displaced vertices and/or missing energy are possible. Accounting for LEP constraints, we find LHC production cross-sections typically in the 1-100 fb range, though they can be lar…
New stable particles with fairly low masses could exist if the coupling to the Standard Model is weak, and with suitable parameters they might be possible to produce at the LHC. Here we study a selection of models with the new particles being charged under a new gauge group, either U(1) or SU(N). In the Abelian case there will be radiation of gammavs, which decay back into the SM. In the non-Abelian case the particles will undergo hadronization into mesons like states piv/rhov that subsequently decays. We consider three different scenarios for interaction between the new sector and the SM sect…
It is a distinct possibility that a Hidden Valley sector would have a spectrum of light particles consisting of both stable and unstable dark mesons. The simultaneous presence of these two types of particles can lead to novel mechanisms for generating the correct dark matter relic abundance, which in turn can reflect themselves into new exotic signatures at colliders. We study the viability of such sectors for various Hidden Valley models and map the valid parameter space to possible collider signatures. Mediators studied include various scalar bifundamentals and a heavy $Z'$. It is shown that…
Hidden valleys, hidden sectors with multi-particle dynamics and a mass gap, can produce striking and unusual final states at the LHC. Unparticle models, hidden-sectors with conformal dynamics and no (or a very small) mass gap, can result in unusual kinematic features that indirectly reflect the conformal dynamics. When sufficiently large mass gaps are added to unparticle models, they become hidden valley models. Predictions using unparticle propagators alone overlook the most striking signals, which are typically of hidden-valley type. Inclusive signatures often cannot be predicted from unpart…
In the discussed model, the cold dark matter consists of Dirac spin-1/2 fermions, sterile from all Standard Model charges, where masses are generated by a nonzero vacuum expectation value of a field of scalar bosons, also assumed to be sterile. For convenience, these sterile particles have beeen called sterinos and sterons, respectively. It has been conjectured that our sterile world of sterinos and sterons can communicate with the familiar Standard Model world not only through gravity, but also through a photonic portal provided by a very weak effective interaction involving the electromagnet…
Many models of Beyond the Standard Model physics contain particles that are charged under both Standard Model and Hidden Valley gauge groups, yet very little effort has been put into establishing their experimental signatures. We provide a general overview of the collider phenomenology of spin 0 or 1/2 mediators with non-trivial gauge numbers under both the Standard Model and a single new confining group. Due to the possibility of many unconventional signatures, the focus is on direct production with semivisible jets. For the mediators to be able to decay, a global $U(1)$ symmetry must be brok…
We explore strategies for probing Hidden Valley scenarios exhibiting confinement. Such scenarios lead to a multiplicity of light hidden hadrons from showering processes. Their decays are typically soft and displaced, making them challenging to probe with traditional LHC searches. We show the low trigger thresholds and excellent track and vertex reconstruction at LHCb provide an ideal environment to search for such signals -- in both muonic and hadronic channels. We also explore the potential of ATLAS/CMS and discuss modifications to present searches that might make these experiments competitiv…
These TASI lectures consider low mass hidden sectors from Hidden Valleys, Quirks and Unparticles. We show how each corresponds to a different limit of the same class of models: hidden sectors with non-abelian gauge groups with mass gaps well below a TeV that communicate to the Standard Model through weak scale suppressed higher dimension operators. We provide concrete examples of such models and discuss LHC signatures. Lastly we turn to discussing the application of Hidden Valleys to dark matter sectors.
In light of recent analyses that have shown that nontrivial hidden-sector dynamics in models of supersymmetry breaking can lead to a significant impact on the predicted low-energy supersymmetric spectrum, we extend these studies to consider hidden-sector effects in extensions of the MSSM to include a seesaw model for neutrino masses. A dynamical hidden sector in an interval of mass scales below the seesaw scale would yield renormalization-group running involving both the anomalous dimension from the hidden sector and the seesaw-extended MSSM renormalization group equations (RGEs). These effect…
Thermal leptogenesis and supergravity are attractive scenarios for physics beyond the standard model. However, it is well known that the super-weak interaction of the gravitino often leads to problems with primordial nucleosynthesis in the standard scenario of matter parity conserving MSSM + three right-handed neutrinos. We will present and compare two related solutions to these problems: 1) The conflict between BBN and leptogenesis can be avoided in presence of a hidden sector with light supersymmetric particles which open new decay channels for the dangerous long-lived particles. 2) If there…
We show that supersymmetric "Dark Force" models with gravity mediation are viable. To this end, we analyse a simple string-inspired supersymmetric hidden sector model that interacts with the visible sector via kinetic mixing of a light Abelian gauge boson with the hypercharge. We include all induced interactions with the visible sector such as neutralino mass mixing and the Higgs portal term. We perform a detailed parameter space scan comparing the produced dark matter relic abundance and direct detection cross sections to current experiments.
We study the impact of a hidden sector beyond the Standard Model, e.g. a Hidden Valley model, on factorial moments and cumulants of multiplicity distributions in multiparticle production with a special emphasis on the prospects for LHC results.
Superradiant instability turns rotating astrophysical black holes into unique probes of light axions. We consider what happens when a light axion is coupled to a strongly coupled hidden gauge sector. In this case superradiance results in an adiabatic increase of a hidden sector CP-violating $θ$-parameter in a near horizon region. This may trigger a first order phase transition in the gauge sector. As a result a significant fraction of a black hole mass is released as a cloud of hidden mesons and can be later converted into electromagnetic radiation. This results in a violent electromagnetic bu…
Supersymmetric scenarios incorporating thermal leptogenesis as the origin of the observed matter-antimatter asymmetry generically predict abundances of the primordial elements which are in conflict with observations. In this paper we propose a simple way to circumvent this tension and accommodate naturally thermal leptogenesis and primordial nucleosynthesis. We postulate the existence of a light hidden sector, coupled very weakly to the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, which opens up new decay channels for the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle, thus diluting its abundance during n…
Motivated by the di-photon resonance recently reported by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations at $\sqrt{s} =13$ TeV, we interpret the resonance as a scalar boson $X (750)$ in hidden-valley-like models. The scalar boson $X$ can mix with the standard model Higgs boson and thus can be produced via gluon fusion. It then decays into a pair of very light hidden particles $Y$ of sub-GeV, each of which in turn decays to a pair of collimated $ π^{0} $'s, and these two $ π^{0} $'s decay into photons which then form photon-jets. A photon-jet ($ γ$-jet) is a special feature that consists of a cluster of coll…
The observation in the universe of a small but positive vacuum energy strongly suggests, in the string landscape picture, that there will ultimately be a phase transition to an exactly supersymmetric universe. This ground state or "true vacuum" of the universe could be similar to the minimal supersymmetric standard model with all the susy breaking parameters set to zero. Alternatively, it might be similar to the prominent superstring theories with nine flat space dimensions or to the supersymmetric anti-deSitter model that seems to be equivalent to a conformal field theory. We propose that the…
We examine under what circumstances the INTEGRAL/SPI 511 keV signal can originate from decays of MeV-scale composite states produced by: (A) thermonuclear (type Ia) or (B) core collapse supernovae (SNe). The requisite dynamical properties that would account for the observed data are quite distinct, for cases (A) and (B). We determine these requirements in simple hidden valley models, where the escape fraction problem is naturally addressed, due to the long lifetime of the new composite states. A novel feature of scenario (A) is that the dynamics of type Ia SNe, standard candles for cosmologica…
We investigate an extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) containing a $SU(2)$ Higgs triplet of zero hypercharge and a gauge singlet. We focus on a scenario of this model which allows a light pseudoscalar and/or a scalar below $100$ GeV in the spectrum, consistent with the most recent data from the LHC and the earlier data from the LEP experiments. We analyze the exotic decay of the discovered Higgs $(h_{125})$ into two light (hidden) Higgs bosons present in the extension. The latter are allowed by the uncertainties in the Higgs decay $h_{125}\to WW^*$, $h_{125}\to ZZ^*$ …
We study gauge theories where quasi-hidden sectors are added to the MSSM for the sake of string consistency conditions which would otherwise not be satisfied. We focus on quiver gauge theories motivated by weakly coupled type II orientifold compactifications. Model independent features in this class include an anomalous U(1)_V symmetry which protects messenger masses and has strong consequences for superpotential couplings, a rich phenomenology of heavy and light Z' bosons, and axionic couplings required for anomaly cancellation via the Green-Schwarz mechanism. We discuss possibilities for dar…
New results which correlate SUSY dark matter with LHC signals are presented, and a brief review of recent developments in supersymmetric and hidden sector dark matter is given. It is shown that the direct detection of dark matter is very sensitive to the hierarchical SUSY sparticle spectrum and the spectrum is very useful in distinguishing models. It is shown that the prospects of the discovery of neutralino dark matter are very bright on the "Chargino Wall" due to a copious number of model points on the Wall, where the NLSP is the Chargino, and the spin independent neutralino-proton cross sec…
A preliminary investigation of a large class of Hidden Valley models is presented. These models are more challenging than those considered in arXiv:0712.2041 [hep-ph]; although they produce a new light resonance which decays to heavy standard model fermions, they exhibit no light dilepton resonance. A heavy $Z'$ decaying to v-hadrons, which in turn decay mainly to bottom quarks and tau leptons, is considered; six case studies are investigated, using a new Monte Carlo simulation package. It is found that the one-to-one correspondence of jets and partons is badly broken, and the high-multiplicit…
We investigate the scalar sector in an extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) containing a $SU(2)$ Higgs triplet of zero hypercharge and a gauge singlet beside the $SU(2)$ scalar doublets. In particular, we focus on a scenario of this model which allows a light pseudoscalar and/or a scalar below $100$ GeV, consistent with the most recent data from the LHC and the earlier data from the LEP experiments. We analyze the exotic decay of the discovered Higgs $(h_{125})$ into two light (hidden) Higgs bosons present in the extension. The latter are allowed by the uncertainties i…
The cosmological origin of both dark and baryonic matter can be explained through a unified mechanism called hylogenesis where baryon and antibaryon number are divided between the visible sector and a GeV-scale hidden sector, while the Universe remains net baryon symmetric. The "missing" antibaryons, in the form of exotic hidden states, are the dark matter. We study model-building, cosmological, and phenomenological aspects of this scenario within the framework of supersymmetry, which naturally stabilizes the light hidden sector and electroweak mass scales. Inelastic dark matter scattering on …
We show that the minimal supergravity extension of the standard model automatically contains topologically stable electroweak strings if the hidden sector is invariant under the exact R-symmetry. These defects appear in the form of the semiglobal R-strings, which necessarily carry $Z$-flux inside their core. This result is independent from the particular structure of the hidden sector. Discussed strings differ fundamentally from the embedded $Z$-strings. If R-symmetry is explicitly broken (e.g. due to an anomaly), the decay of the semiglobal strings may have important implications for the bary…
Extending the Higgs sector of the MSSM by triplets alleviates the little hierarchy problem and naturally allows for enhancements in the diphoton decay rate of the lightest CP-even Higgs h. In the present paper we analyze in detail the Higgs phenomenology of this theory with m_h~126 GeV. We mostly focus on a light Higgs sector where the pseudoscalar A, the next-to-lightest CP-even scalar H and the charged H^\pm Higgses are naturally at the electroweak scale. It turns out that for any value m_A > m_h there is a parameter region at small tan(beta) where the CP-even Higgs sector appears at collide…
We consider a class of models with extra complex scalars that are charged under both the Standard Model and a hidden strongly coupled $SU(N)_H$ gauge sector, and discuss the scenarios where the new scalars are identified as the messenger fields that mediate the spontaneously broken supersymmetries from the hidden sector to the visible sector. The new scalars are embedded into 5-plets and 10-plets of an $SU(5)_V$ gauge group that potentially unifies the Standard Model gauge groups. The Higgs bosons remain as elementary particles. In the supersymmetrized version of this class of models, vector-l…
We argue, based on typical properties of known solutions of string/$M$-theory, that the lightest supersymmetric particle of the visible sector will not be stable. In other words, dark matter is {\em not} a particle with Standard Model quantum numbers, such as a WIMP. The argument is simple and based on the typical occurrence of a) hidden sectors, b) interactions between the Standard Model (visible) sector and these hidden sectors, and c) the lack of an argument against massive neutral hidden sector particles being lighter than the lightest visible supersymmetric particle. These conclusions do …
We study a scenario that a hidden gaugino dark matter decays into the standard-model particles (and their supersymmetric partners) through a kinetic mixing with the gaugino of a U(1)B-L broken at a scale close to the grand unification scale. We show that decay of the hidden gaugino can explain excesses in the cosmic-ray electrons and positrons observed by PAMELA and Fermi.
Recently, conceptually new physics beyond the Standard Model has been proposed by Georgi, where a new physics sector becomes conformal and provides "unparticle" which couples to the Standard Model sector through higher dimensional operators in low energy effective theory. Among several possibilities, we focus on operators involving the (scalar) unparticle, Higgs and the gauge bosons. Once the Higgs develops the vacuum expectation value (VEV), the conformal symmetry is broken and as a result, the mixing between the unparticle and the Higgs boson emerges. In this paper, we consider the unparticl…
A hidden sector that kinetically mixes with the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model provides simple and well-motivated dark matter candidates that possess many of the properties of a traditional weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP). These supersymmetric constructions can also provide a natural explanation for why the dark matter is at the weak scale - even if it resides in a hidden sector. In the hidden sector, a natural pattern of symmetry breaking generally makes particles and their superpartners lie around the same mass scale, opening novel possibilities for a variety of cosmologica…
We present a simple formulation of non-linear supersymmetry where superfields and partnerless fields can coexist. Using this formalism, we propose a supersymmetric Standard Model without the Higgsino as an effective model for the TeV-scale supersymmetry breaking scenario. We also consider an application of the Hidden Local Symmetry in non-linear supersymmetry, where we can naturally incorporate a spin-two resonance into the theory in a manifestly supersymmetric way. Possible signatures at the LHC experiments are discussed.
We investigate a class of models where the supergravity model with the standard model gauge group is extended by a hidden sector $U(1)_X$ gauge group and where the lightest supersymmetric particle is the neutralino in the hidden sector. We investigate this possibility in a class of models where the stau is the lightest supersymmetric particle in the MSSM sector and the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle of the $U(1)_X$-extended SUGRA model. In this case the stau will decay into the neutralino of the hidden sector. For the case when the mass gap between the stau and the hidden sector neut…
Ultraviolet physics typically induces a kinetic mixing between gauge singlets which is marginal and hence non-decoupling in the infrared. In singlet extensions of the minimal supersymmetric standard model, e.g. the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model, this furnishes a well motivated and distinctive portal connecting the visible sector to any hidden sector which contains a singlet chiral superfield. In the presence of singlet kinetic mixing, the hidden sector automatically acquires a light mass scale in the range 0.1 - 100 GeV induced by electroweak symmetry breaking. In theories with…
The spontaneous breakdown of the scale, the chiral and the superconformal symmetries for a hidden $SU(N)$ gauge group is studied in an effective lagrangean approach. The relevant low-energy degrees of freedom are taken to be the composite Goldstone particles associated with these three broken symmetries. Supersymmetry is spontaneously broken in the large $N$ limit and soft breaking terms in the observable sector are generated, together with nonrenormalisable Nambu-Jona-Lasinio type interactions.
Most analyses of dark matter within supersymmetry assume the entire cold dark matter arising only from weakly interacting neutralinos. We study a new class of models consisting of $U(1)^n$ hidden sector extensions of the MSSM that includes several stable particles, both fermionic and bosonic, which can be interpreted as constituents of dark matter. In one such class of models, dark matter is made up of both a Majorana dark matter particle, i.e., a neutralino, and a Dirac fermion with the current relic density of dark matter as given by WMAP being composed of the relic density of the two specie…
Light extra U(1) gauge bosons, so called hidden photons, which reside in a hidden sector have attracted much attention since they are a well motivated feature of many scenarios beyond the Standard Model and furthermore could mediate the interaction with hidden sector dark matter. We review limits on hidden photons from past electron beam dump experiments including two new limits from such experiments at KEK and Orsay. In addition, we study the possibility of having dark matter in the hidden sector. A simple toy model and different supersymmetric realisations are shown to provide viable dark ma…
We study models of supersymmetric grand unification based on the SO(10) gauge group. We investigate scenarios of non-universal gaugino masses including models containing a mixture of two representations of hidden sector chiral superfields. We analyse the effect of excluding mu from the fine-tuning measure, and confront the results with low energy constraints, including the Higgs boson mass, dark matter relic density and supersymmetry bounds. We also determine high scale Yukawa coupling ratios and confront the results with theoretical predictions. Finally, we present two additional benchmarks t…
We consider a hidden-valley gauge sector, G, with strong coupling scale Lambda~TeV and CP-violating topological parameter, theta, as well as a new axion degree of freedom which adjusts theta to near zero in the current universe. If the G-sector couples to the Standard Model via weak-scale states charged under both, then in the early universe it is possible for the CP-violation due to theta (which has not yet been adjusted to zero by the hidden axion) to feed in to the SM and drive efficient baryogenesis during the electroweak (EW) phase transition, independent of the effectively small amount o…
We examine whether F-term supersymmetric hybrid inflation can be embedded within the minimal SO(10) model, in a natural way. We show that none of the singlets of the Standard Model symmetries in the minimal set of SO(10) representations can satisfy the conditions which are necessary for a scalar field to play the role of the inflaton. As a consequence, one has to introduce an extra scalar field, which however may spoil the naturalness of inflation within the context of SO(10). Nevertheless, if we add an extra scalar field, we are then able to construct a model that can accommodate flat directi…
In many theories of physics beyond the Standard Model, from extra dimensions to Hidden Valleys and models of dark matter, Z' bosons mediate between Standard Model particles and hidden sector states. We study the feasibility of observing such hidden states through an invisibly decaying Z' at the LHC. We focus on the process pp -> γZ' -> γX X*, where X is any neutral, (quasi-) stable particle, whether a Standard Model (SM) neutrino or a new state. This complements a previous study using pp -> Z Z' -> l+ l- X X*. Only the Z' mass and two effective charges are needed to describe this process. If t…
We study supergravity models in four dimensions where the hidden sector is superconformal and strongly-coupled over several decades of energy below the Planck scale, before undergoing spontaneous breakdown of scale invariance and supersymmetry. We show that large anomalous dimensions can suppress Kahler contact terms between the hidden and visible sectors, leading to models in which the hidden sector is "sequestered" and anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking can naturally dominate, thus solving the supersymmetric flavor problem. We construct simple, explicit models of the hidden sector based…
It is shown that the supersymmetric quantum mechanics has an octonionic generalization. The generalization is based on the inclusion of quaternions into octonions. The elements from the coset octonions/quaternions are unobservables bacause they cannot be considered as quantum operators as a consequence of their non-associative properties. The idea that the octonionic generalization of the supersymmetric quantum mechanics describes an observable particle formed with unobservable ``particles'' is presented.
The existence of intimate relation between generalized statistics and supersymmetry is established by observation of hidden supersymmetric structure in pure parabosonic systems. This structure is characterized generally by a nonlinear superalgebra. The nonlinear supersymmetry of parabosonic systems may be realized, in turn, by modifying appropriately the usual supersymmetric quantum mechanics. The relation of nonlinear parabosonic supersymmetry to the Calogero-like models with exchange interaction and to the spin chain models with inverse-square interaction is pointed out.

We construct a simple model of an SU(5) GUT with gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking from a metastable vacuum of a hidden sector. All mass parameters and hierarchies of our model are generated dynamically from retrofitting. This includes the mu-parameter and the GUT scale. However, as typical for SU(5) GUTs, proton longevity remains a problem.
