Chow's theorem for semi-abelian varieties and bounds for splitting fields of algebraic tori

A theorem of Chow concerns homomorphisms of two abelian varieties under a primary field extension base change. In this paper we generalize Chow's theorem to semi-abelian varieties. This contributes to different proofs of a well-known result that every algebraic torus splits over a finite separable field extension. We also obtain the best bound for the degrees of splitting fields of tori.

Schmidt's subspace theorem for moving hypersurface targets in subgeneral position with index in algebraic variety

Recently, Xie-Cao [15] obtained a Second Main Theorem for moving hypersurfaces located in subgeneral position with index which is extended the result of Ru [11]. By using some methods due to Son-Tan-Thin [13], Quang [9] and Xie-Cao [15], we shall give a Schmidt's Subspace Theorem for moving hypersurface targets in subgeneral position with index intersecting algebraic variety. Our result is a extension the Schmidt's Subspace Theorem due to Son-Tan-Thin [13] and Quang [9].

Compositions constrained by graph Laplacian minors

Motivated by examples of symmetrically constrained compositions, super convex partitions, and super convex compositions, we initiate the study of partitions and compositions constrained by graph Laplacian minors. We provide a complete description of the multivariate generating functions for such compositions in the case of trees. We answer a question due to Corteel, Savage, and Wilf regarding super convex compositions, which we describe as compositions constrained by Laplacian minors for cycles; we extend this solution to the study of compositions constrained by Laplacian minors of leafed cycl…

Diophantine Approximation on Varieties IV: Derivated algebraic distance and derivative metric Bezout Theorem

The metric Bezout Theorem proved in an earlier paper can be extended to a derivative version that compares derivatives of the algebraic distance of a point $θ$ to two properly intersecting cycles in projective space with the derivatives of the algebraic distance of $θ$ to their intersection. This improvement can be used to make algebraic independence criteria, to be proved in a forthcoming paper, more flexible and to refine Approximation results that are proved using the metric Bezout Theorem.

Finiteness theorems for algebraic cycles of small codimension on quadric fibrations over curves

We obtain finiteness theorems for algebraic cycles of small codimension on quadric fibrations X over curves over perfect fields k. For example, if k is finitely generated over Q and the fibration has odd relative dimension at least 11, then CH^{i}(X) is finitely generated for i<=4.
