In this paper we try to establish a connection between a three-dimensional Lotka--Volterra dynamical system and two-dimensional topological surgery. There are many physical phenomena exhibiting two-dimensional topological surgery through a `hole drilling' process. By our connection, such phenomena may be modelled mathematically by the above dynamical system.

Surgery for partially hyperbolic dynamical systems II. Blow-up of a complex curve

In this paper we use the blow-up surgery introduced in [G] to produce new higher dimensional partially hyperbolic flows. The main contribution of the paper is the slow-down construction which accompanies the blow-up construction. This new ingredient allows to dispose of a rather strong domination assumption which was crucial for results in [G]. Orbit Growth Of Contact Structures After Surgery

Investigation of the effects of a contact surgery construction and of invariance of contact homology reveals a rich new field of inquiry at the intersection of dynamical systems and contact geometry. We produce contact 3-flows not topologically orbit-equivalent to any algebraic flow, including examples on many hyperbolic 3-manifolds, and we show how the surgery produces dynamical complexity for any Reeb flow compatible with the resulting contact structure. Bohr chaoticity of topological dynamical systems

We introduce the notion of Bohr chaoticity, which is a topological invariant for topological dynamical systems, and which is opposite to the property required by Sarnak's conjecture. We prove the Bohr chaoticity for all systems which have a horseshoe and for all toral affine dynamical systems of positive entropy, some of which don't have a horseshoe. But uniquely ergodic dynamical systems are not Bohr chaotic.

Embedding theorems for discrete dynamical systems and topological flows

In this paper, we investigate the embeddings for topological flows. We prove an embedding theorem for discrete topological system. Our results apply to suspension flows via constant function, and for this case we show an embedding theorem for suspension flows and give a new proof of Gutman-Jin embedding theorem.

Relationship between Li-Yorke chaos and positive topological sequence entropy in nonautonomous dynamical systems

We study chaotic properties of uniformly convergent nonautonomous dynamical systems. We show that, contrary to the autonomous systems on the compact interval, positivity of topological sequence entropy and occurrence of Li-Yorke chaos are not equivalent, more precisely, neither of the two possible implications is true.

We systematically investigate examples of non-hyperbolic dynamical systems having irregular sets of full topological entropy and full Hausdorff dimension. The examples include some partially hyperbolic systems and geometric Lorenz flows. We also pose interesting questions for future research.

Entropy and Emergence of Topological Dynamical Systems

A topological dynamical system $(X,f)$ induces two natural systems, one is on the probability measure spaces and other one is on the hyperspace. We introduce a concept for these two spaces, which is called entropy order, and prove that it coincides with topological entropy of $(X,f)$. We also consider the entropy order of an invariant measure and a variational principle is established.
