Within a large class of exact solutions of the Einstein equations describing a black hole embedded in a Friedmann universe it is shown that, under certain assumptions, only those with comoving Hawking-Hayward quasi-local mass are generic, in the sense that they are late-time attractors.
In this review we focus our attention on scalar-tensor gravity models and their empirical verification in terms of black hole and wormhole physics. We focus on a black hole, embedded in an expanding universe, describing both cosmological and astrophysical scales. We show that in scalar-tensor gravity it is quite common that the local geometry is isolated from the cosmological expansion, so that it does not backreact on the black hole metric. We try to extract common features of scalar-tensor black holes in an expanding universe and point out the gaps that must be filled.
A "temporal analogue" of the standard Poynting-Robertson effect is analyzed as induced by a dust of particles (instead of a gas of photons) surrounding a Schwarzschild black hole. Test particles inside this cloud undergo acceleration effects due to the presence of a friction force, so that the fate of their evolution can be completely different from the corresponding geodesic motion. Typical situations are discussed of hyperbolic motion of particles scattered by the black hole in the presence of a dust filling the whole spacetime region outside the horizon as well as particles which free fall …
We analytically investigate the influence of a cosmic expansion on the shadow of the Schwarzschild black hole. We suppose that the expansion is driven by a cosmological constant only and use the Kottler (or Schwarzschild-deSitter) spacetime as a model for a Schwarzschild black hole embedded in a deSitter universe. We calculate the angular radius of the shadow for an observer who is comoving with the cosmic expansion. It is found that the angular radius of the shadow shrinks to a non-zero finite value if the comoving observer approaches infinity.
Pseudo-Newtonian Potential has always been a useful tool to discuss the motion of a particle in space-time to avoid the tedious and nearly impossible nonlinear computations coming from the field equations of general relativity. Mukhopadhyay, in 2002, has introduced such a pseudo-Newtonian potential for rotating Kerr black hole which is efficient enough to replicate the scenario of the classical mechanics. But there was no such model to explain the dark energy realm. In 2016 S Ghosh introduced a Lagrangian for such rotating black hole embedded in quintessence. in this article we obtained a pseu…
The properties of an hyperbolically-expanding wormhole are studied. Using a particular equation of state for the fluid on the wormhole throat, we reached an equation of motion for the throat that leads to a constant surface energy density $σ$. The Lagrangean leading to the above equation of motion contains the "rest mass" of the expanding particle as a potential energy. The associated Hamiltonian corresponds to a relativistic free particle of a total Planck energy $E_{P}$. When the wormhole is embedded in de Sitter space, we found that the cosmological constant is of Planck order of magnitude …
McVittie's Legacy: Black Holes in an Expanding Universe

This paper analyzes the supersymmetric solutions to five and six-dimensional minimal (un)gauged supergravities for which the bilinear Killing vector constructed from the Killing spinor is null. We focus on the spacetimes which admit an additional ${\rm SO}(1,1)$ boost symmetry. Upon the toroidal dimensional reduction along the Killing vector corresponding to the boost, we show that the solution in the ungauged case describes a charged, nonextremal black hole in a Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) universe with an expansion driven by a massless scalar field. For the gauged case, the so…
We find an exact solution of Scalar-Tensor-Vector Gravity field equations that represents a black hole embedded in an expanding universe. This is the first solution of the kind found in the theory. We analyze the properties of the apparent horizons as well as the essential singularities of the metric, and compare it with the McVittie spacetime of General Relativity. Depending on the cosmological model adopted and the value of the free parameter $α$ of the theory, the solution describes a cosmological black hole, an inhomogeneity in an expanding universe, or a naked singularity. We use the latt…
In this paper we propose a stationary solution of Einstein's field equations describing Reissner-Nordstrom black hole in dark energy background. It is to be regarded as the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole is embedded into the dark energy solution producing Reissner-Nordstrom-dark energy black hole. We find that the space-time geometry of Reissner-Nordstrom-dark energy solution is Petrov type $D$ in the classification of space-times. It is also shown that the embedded space-time possesses an energy-momentum tensor of the electromagnetic field interacting with the dark energy having negative press…
A One Parameter Family of Expanding Wave Solutions of the Einstein Equations That Induces an Anomalous Acceleration Into the Standard Model of Cosmology
In this paper, a cosmological model with an isotropic form of the Morris-Thorne type wormhole was derived in a similar way to the McVittie solution to the black hole in the expanding universe. By solving Einstein's field equation with plausible matter distribution, we found the exact solution of the wormhole embedded in Friedmann-Lema\^ıtre-Robertson-Walker universe. We also found the apparent cosmological horizons from the redefined metric and analyzed the geometric natures, including causal and dynamic structures. The Hawking temperature for thermal radiation was obtained by the WKB approxim…
Multi-black hole solutions play a relevant role both from the theoretical and the phenomenological point of view. In this Thesis, we construct some regular multi-black hole spacetimes in pure Einstein's General Relativity with the aid of solution generating techniques. We begin with a perspective on the history of solution generating techniques, and then we explain in detail the Ernst formalism and the inverse scattering method. These are the techniques that are applied in the rest of the Thesis. Subsequently, we construct multi-black hole solutions embedded in an external gravitational field:…
