Within the framework of a novel functional method on the world-sheet of the string, we discuss simple but re-summed (in the Regge slope) inflationary scenarios in the context of closed Bosonic strings, living in four target-space dimensions, in the presence of non-trivial tachyon, dilaton and graviton cosmological backgrounds. The inflationary solutions are argued to guarantee the vanishing of the corresponding Weyl anomaly coefficients in a given world-sheet renormalization scheme, thereby ensuring conformal invariance of the corresponding sigma-model to all orders in the Regge slope. The key property is the requirement of "homogeneity" of the corresponding Weyl anomaly coefficients. Inflation entails appropriate relations between the dilaton and tachyon field configurations, whose form can lead to either a de Sitter vacuum, incompatible though (due to the cosmic horizons) with the perturbative string scattering amplitudes, or to cosmic space-times involving brief inflationary periods, interpolating smoothly between power-law and/or Minkowski Universes. The latter situation is characterized by well-defined scattering amplitudes, and is thus compatible with a perturbative string framework. It is this scenario that we consider a self-consistent ground state in our framework, which is based on local field redefinitions of background fields.
We study the correspondence between the tachyon, K-essence and dilaton scalar field models with the interacting new agegraphic dark energy model in the non-flat FRW universe. We reconstruct the potentials and the dynamics for these scalar field models, which describe accelerated expansion of the universe.
We discuss an effective field theory background containing the gravitational field, the dilaton and a closed string tachyon, and couple this background to a gas of fundamental strings and D strings. Allowing for the possibility of a non-vanishing dilaton potential of Casimir type, we demonstrate the possibility of obtaining a nonsingular, static tachyon condensate phase with fixed dilaton. The time reversal of our solution provides a candidate effective field theory description of a Hagedorn phase of string gas cosmology with fixed dilaton.
In this paper we propose tachyon effective actions for unstable D-branes in superstring and bosonic string theories in the presence of the linear dilaton background.
Rolling tachyon in linear dilaton background is examined by using an effective field theory with gauge field on an unstable D-brane in bosonic string theory. Several solutions are identified with tachyon matter equipped with constant electromagnetic field in linear dilaton background. The time evolution of effective coupling and the nature of propagating fluctuation modes around the tachyon matter are also studied.
To study quantum effects on the bulk tachyon dynamics, we replace $R$ with $f(R)$ in the low-energy effective action that couples gravity, the dilaton, and the bulk closed string tachyon of bosonic closed string theory and study properties of their classical solutions. The $α^{\prime}$ corrections of the graviton-dilaton-tachyon system are implemented in the $f(R)$. We obtain the tachyon-induced rolling solutions and show that the string metric does not need to remain fixed in some cases. The singular behavior of more classical solutions are investigated and found to be modified by quantum eff…
We consider the dynamics of the open string tachyon condensation in a framework of the cubic fermionic String Field Theory including a non-minimal coupling with closed string massless modes, the graviton and the dilaton. Coupling of the open string tachyon and the dilaton is motivated by the open String Field Theory in a linear dilaton background and the flat space-time. We note that the dilaton gravity provides several restrictions on the tachyon condensation and show explicitly that the influence of the dilaton on the tachyon condensation is essential and provides a significant effect: oscil…
We study the dynamical behavior of the dilaton in the background of three-dimensional Kerr-de Sitter space which is inspired from the low-energy string effective action. The Kerr-de Sitter space describes the gravitational background of a point particle whose mass and spin are given by $1-M$ and $J$ and its curvature radius is given by $\ell$. In order to study the propagation of metric, dilaton, and Kalb-Ramond two-form, we perform the perturbation analysis in the southern diamond of Kerr-de Sitter space including a conical singularity. It reveals a mixing between the dilaton and other unphys…
In this paper we will study tachyon effective action for Dp-brane in bosonic string theory in the linear dilaton background. We obtain the tachyon effective Lagrangian from boundary state coeficient of Dp-brane in the linear dilaton background and compare it with tachyon effective Lagrangians that were proposed in previous papers.
We studied in detail the propagation of a massive tachyonic scalar field in the background of a five-dimensional ($5D$) Einstein--Yang--Mills--Born--Infeld--dilaton black string: the massive Klein--Gordon equation was solved, exactly. Next we obtained complete analytical expressions for the greybody factor, absorption cross-section, and decay-rate for the tachyonic scalar field in the geometry under consideration. The behaviors of the obtained results are graphically represented for different values of the theory's free parameters. We also discuss why tachyons should be used instead of ordinar…
We present the new agegraphic dark energy model by introducing the quantum corrections to the entropy-area relation in the setup of loop quantum gravity. Employing this new form of dark energy, we investigate the model of interacting dark energy and derive its equation of state. We study the correspondence between the tachyon, K-essence and dilaton scalar field models with the interacting entropy-corrected new agegraphic dark energy model in the non-flat FRW universe. Moreover, we reconstruct the corresponding scalar potentials which describe the dynamics of the scalar field models.
We present a solution of the five-dimensional gravity-dilaton-tachyon equations of motion with a pure AdS_5 metric and a quadratic dilaton and linear tachyon in conformal coordinates. This leads to an infrared soft wall model where the dilaton profile gives rise to linear Regge trajectories for the four-dimensional mass spectrum of the dual gauge theory. Even though our approach is phenomenological the scalar fields resemble the dilaton and the closed string tachyon of a non-critical string theory. Interestingly, the linear tachyon has the correct profile to imply that chiral symmetry is not r…
In bosonic closed string field theory the "tachyon potential" is a potential for the tachyon, the dilaton, and an infinite set of massive fields. Earlier computations of the potential did not include the dilaton and the critical point formed by the quadratic and cubic interactions was destroyed by the quartic tachyon term. We include the dilaton contributions to the potential and find that a critical point survives and appears to become more shallow. We are led to consider the existence of a closed string tachyon vacuum, a critical point with zero action that represents a state where space-tim…
In this paper we propose the toy model of the closed string tachyon effective action that has marginal tachyon profile as its exact solution in case of constant or linear dilaton background. Then we will apply this model for description of two dimensional bosonic string theory. We will find that the background configuration with the spatial dependent linear dilaton, flat spacetime metric and marginal tachyon profile is the exact solution of our model even if we take into account backreaction of tachyon on dilaton and metric.
We propose a finite-temperature holographic model with a soft-wall geometry that incorporates two scalar fields, dual to the gluon and chiral operators. A series solution is presented as the dynamical, black-hole solution to Einstein's equations. We use the solution to calculate the thermal properties of the corresponding 4D gauge theory. Gluon and chiral thermal condensates contribute leading-order terms that affect the speed of sound through and entropy of the 4D thermal medium. At a temperature $T_c\sim 900$ MeV, we find a phase transition, which is much higher than lattice QCD calculations…
We present qualitative evidence that closed string tachyon solitons describe backgrounds of lower-dimensional sub-critical string theory. We show that a co-dimension one soliton in the low energy effective gravity-dilaton-tachyon theory in general has a flat string-frame metric, and a dilaton that grows in both directions away from the core, and is linear in the soliton worldvolume coordinates. Spacetime, as seen in the Einstein frame, is therefore effectively localized in (D-1)-dimensions, in which the dilaton is linear, in agreement with the linear dilaton background of the (D-1)-dimensional…
We study the geometry of the two dimensional string theoretic black hole under tachyonic perturbations. These perturbations are restricted to affect only the metric and the dilaton, while other string theoretic excitations (like the axion) are ignored. The metric and linearized dilaton perturbations are determined to lowest non-trivial order of the tachyonic hair in the presence of back reaction. We evaluate the Kretschmann scalar and argue that the horizon does not become singular in the presence of tachyon perturbations (to the order of our consideration). A closed-form solution of the allow…
In this paper we will study the ground states of the toy model of 2D closed string tachyon effective action. We will firstly construct the classical solutions of the tachyon effective action that do not induce backreaction on metric and dilaton. Then we will study the quantum mechanics of the zero mode of the tachyon field. We will find family of vacuum states labelled with single parameter. We will also perform the quantum mechanical analysis of the tachyon effective action when we take into account dynamics of nonzero modes. We will calculate the vacuum expectation values of components of th…
Applying a novel non-perturbative functional method framework to a two-dimensional bosonic sigma model with tachyon, dilaton and graviton backgrounds we construct exact (non perturbative in the Regge slope) inflationary solutions, consistent with world-sheet Weyl Invariance. The mechanism for inflation entails a (partial) "alignment" between tachyon and dilaton backgrounds in the solution space. Some cosmological solutions which contain inflationary eras for a short period and interpolate between flat universes in the far past and far future are also discussed. These solutions are characterize…
We consider tachyon condensation in unstable ten-dimensional heterotic string theory with gauge group E8. In the background of a lightlike linear dilaton rolling to weak coupling, we find an exact solution in which the theory decays to a stable ground state. The final state represents a new, modular-invariant perturbative string theory, tachyon-free in nine spacetime dimensions with a spacelike dilaton gradient, E8 gauge group and no spacetime supersymmetry.
We find a codimension one lump solution of closed bosonic string field theory. We consider vertices up to quartic order and include in the string field the tachyon, the ghost dilaton, and a metric fluctuation. While the tachyon profile clearly is that of a lump, we observe that the ghost dilaton is roughly constant in the direction transverse to the lump, equal to the value it takes in the nonperturbative tachyon vacuum. We explain, with a simple model, why this should be expected.
A number of spacetime fields in string theory (notably the metric, dilaton, bosonic and type 0 bulk closed-string tachyon, and bosonic open-string tachyon) have the following property: whenever the spacetime field configuration factorizes in an appropriate sense, the matter sector of the world-sheet theory factorizes into a tensor product of two decoupled theories. Since the beta functions for such a product theory necessarily also factorize, this property strongly constrains the form of the spacetime action encoding those beta functions. We show that this constraint alone--without needing act…
We study the condensation of closed string tachyons as a time-dependent process. In particular, we study tachyons whose wave functions are either space-filling or localized in a compact space, and whose masses are small in string units; our analysis is otherwise general and does not depend on any specific model. Using world-sheet methods, we calculate the equations of motion for the coupled tachyon-dilaton system, and show that the tachyon follows geodesic motion with respect to the Zamolodchikov metric, subject to a force proportional to its beta function and friction proportional to the time…
We solve the geometry of the closed string field theory five-point vertex. Our solution is calculated in terms of quadratic Strebel differentials which are found numerically all over the relevant subspace of the moduli space of spheres with five punctures. Part of the boundary of the reduced moduli space is described in terms of an algebraic curve, while the remaining part has to be evaluated numerically. We use this data to compute the contact term of five tachyons and estimate its uncertainty to be of about 0.1%. To put to a test the theory and the computations done, we calculate the contact…
Highly supercritical strings (c much greater than 15) with a time-like linear dilaton provide a large class of solutions to string theory, in which closed string tachyon condensation is under control (and follows the worldsheet renormalization group flow). In this note we analyze the late-time stability of such backgrounds, including transitions between them. The large friction introduced by the rolling dilaton and the rapid decrease of the string coupling suppress the back-reaction of naive instabilities. In particular, although the graviton, dilaton, and other light fields have negative effe…
We investigate the tachyon coupling in a static Robertson--Walker like metric background. For a tachyon and dilaton field which are only time dependent one can rewrite this model as a SU(2) Wess--Zumino--Witten model and a scalar Feigin--Fuchs theory. In this case the restriction to a real exponential tachyon field fixes the level $k$ of the Wess--Zumino--Witten model. For a spatially dependent tachyon the world radius and the dilaton are quantized in terms of $k$ and the tachyon by two integers, i.e. one has a discrete set of fields. The spatial part of the tachyon is given by Chebyshev polyn…
The Kaluza-Klein linear dilaton background of the bosonic string and the Scherk-Schwarz linear dilaton background of the superstring are shown to be unstable to the decay of half of spacetime. The decay proceeds via a condensation of a semi-localized tachyon when the circle is smaller than a critical size, and via a semiclassical instanton process when the circle is larger than the critical size. At criticality the two pictures are related by a duality of the corresponding two-dimensional conformal field theories. This provides a concrete realization of the connection between tachyonic and sem…
We quantize the tachyon field in a static two dimensional dilaton gravity black hole background, and we calculate the Hawking radiation rate. We find that the thermal radiation flux, due to the tachyon field, is larger than the conformal matter one. We also find that massive scalar fields which do not couple to the dilaton, do not give any contribution to the thermal radiation, up to terms quadratic in the scalar curvature.
A new family of non critical bosonic string backgrounds in arbitrary space time dimension $D$ and with $ISO(1,D-2)$ Poincaré invariance are presented. The metric warping factor and dilaton agree asymptotically with the linear dilaton background. The closed string tachyon equation of motion enjoys, in the linear approximation, an exact solution of ``kink'' type interpolating between different expectation values. A renormalization group flow interpretation ,based on a closed string tachyon potential of type $-T^{2}e^{-T}$, is suggested.
We discuss classical solutions of a graviton-dilaton-B_{μν}-tachyon system. Both constant tachyon solutions, including AdS_3 solutions, and space-dependent tachyon solutions are investigated, and their possible implications to closed string tachyon condensation are argued. The stability issue of the AdS_3 solutions is also discussed.
We discuss fluctuations on solitons in the dilaton/graviton/tachyon system using the low energy effective field theory approach. It is shown that closed string solitons are free of tachyons in this approximation, regardless of the exact shape of the tachyon potential.
We study the low-energy effective field equations that couple gravity, the dilaton, and the bulk closed string tachyon of bosonic closed string theory. We establish that whenever the tachyon induces the rolling process, the string metric remains fixed while the dilaton rolls to strong coupling. For negative definite potentials we show that this results in an Einstein metric that crunches the universe in finite time. This behavior is shown to be rather generic even if the potentials are not negative definite. The solutions are reminiscent of those in the collapse stage of a cyclic universe cosm…
We investigate a string theoretic cosmological model in the context of the gauged Wess-Zumino-Witten model. Our model is based on a product of non-compact coset space and a spectator flat space; $[SL(2,R)/U(1)]_k \times {\bf R}^2$. We extend the formerly studied semiclassical consideration with infinite Kac-Moody level $k$ to a finite one. In this case, the tachyon field appears in the effective action, and we solve the Einstein equation to determine the behavior of tachyon as a function of time. We find that tachyon field dominates over dilaton field in early times. In particular, we consider…
We study the role of rolling tachyons in the cosmological model with dilatonic gravity. In the string frame, flat space solutions of both initial-stage and late-time are obtained in closed form. In the Einstein frame, we show that every expanding solution is decelerating.
We find a parametrically light dilaton in special confining theories in three dimensions. Their duals form what we call a scion of solutions to the supergravity associated with the large-N limit of the Coulomb branch of the N=4 Super-Yang-Mills (SYM) theory. The supergravity description contains one scalar with bulk mass that saturates the Breitenlohner-Freedman unitarity bound. The new solutions are defined within supergravity, they break supersymmetry and scale invariance, and one dimension is compactified on a shrinking circle, yet they are completely regular. An approximate dilaton appears…
We consider a time-dependent bosonic string in graviton, dilaton and tachyon backgrounds, for which it was already shown that conformal invariance is respected to all orders in alpha' and in any space-time dimension. Assuming that the tachyon is off-shell, we show in this note that the specific time-homogeneity of the corresponding space time effective action leads to a power-law expanding Universe, that can be accelerating or decelerating, depending on the range of parameter space considered. We interpret this result as dark energy. We arrive at this result without requiring the knowledge of …
Dilaton contact terms in the bosonic and heterotic strings are examined following the recent work of Distler and Nelson on the bosonic and semirigid strings. In the bosonic case dilaton two-point functions on the sphere are calculated as a stepping stone to constructing a `good' coordinate family for dilaton calculations on higher genus surfaces. It is found that dilaton-dilaton contact terms are improperly normalized, suggesting that the interpretation of the dilaton as the first variation of string coupling breaks down when other dilatons are present. It seems likely that this can be attribu…
We construct a class of CFT's which describe space-dependent closed string tachyon backgrounds, as the IR limit of GLSM's in which the FI-parameter is promoted to a superfield. Whole process of tachyon condensation is described by a single CFT. We apply this construction to several examples, in which target space is deformed drastically, and the dilaton background may vary, as a tachyon condenses.
We construct non-tachyonic, non-supersymmetric orientifolds of Type 0B strings in ten, six and four space-time dimensions. Typically, these models have unitary gauge groups with charged massless fermionic and bosonic matter fields. However, generically there remains an uncancelled dilaton tadpole.
We calculate the simultaneous double-soft limit of two massless closed strings scattering with any number of closed string tachyons to the subleading order at the tree level. The limit factorizes the scattering amplitude into a double-soft factor multiplying the pure tachyon subamplitude, suggesting a universal double-soft theorem for the massless closed string. We confirm an existing result for the double-soft graviton in an on-shell equivalent, but different form, while also establishing the double-soft factorization behavior of the string dilaton and of the Kalb-Ramond state, as well as the…
The stabilisation of the dilaton and volume in tree-level flux compactifications leads to model independent and thus very powerful existence and stability criteria for dS solutions. In this paper we show that the sizes of cycles wrapped by orientifold planes are scalars whose scalings in the potential are not entirely model independent, but enough to entail strong stability constraints. For all known dS solutions arising from massive IIA supergravity flux compactifications on SU(3)-structure manifolds the tachyons are exactly within the subspace spanned by the dilaton, the total volume and the…
We study the conjectured connection between AdS bubbles (AdS solitons) and closed string tachyon condensations. We confirm that the entanglement entropy, which measures the degree of freedom, decreases under the tachyon condensation. The entropies in supergravity and free Yang-Mills agree with each other remarkably. Next we consider the tachyon condensation on the AdS twisted circle and argue that its endpoint is given by the twisted AdS bubble, defined by the double Wick rotation of rotating black 3-brane solutions. We calculated the Casimir energy and entropy and checked the agreements betwe…
We obtain the BTZ black hole (AdS$_3 \times$S$^3$) as a non-dilatonic solution from type 0B string theory. Analyzing the perturbation around this black hole background, we show that the tachyon is not a propagating mode.
We study the behavior of the scattering amplitudes of the bosonic string involving a soft massless state (graviton, dilaton and Kalb-Ramond antisymmetric tensor) and closed string tachyons or other closed string massless states. For a soft graviton we confirm the results, obtained in Ref. [24] using just gauge invariance, up to terms of ${\cal O}(q^1)$ for external tachyons and up to terms of ${\cal O} (q^0)$ for external massless closed string states. Furthermore, we also derive the behavior of the scattering amplitude when a dilaton or a Kalb-Ramond field becomes soft. These results are new …
We investigate the tachyon-dilaton-metric system to study the "graceful exit" problem in string theoretic inflation, where tachyon plays the role of the scalar field. From the phase space analysis, we find that the inflationary phase does not smoothly connect to a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) expanding universe, thereby providing a simple tachyonic extension of the recently proved stringy no-go theorem.
We study certain supersymmetry breaking deformations of linear dilaton backgrounds in different dimensions. In some cases, the deformed theory has bulk closed strings tachyons. In other cases there are no bulk tachyons, but there are localized tachyons. The real time condensation of these localized tachyons is described by an exactly solvable worldsheet CFT. We also find some stable, non-supersymmetric backgrounds.
In this paper closed string emission and open string pair production from the light-like rolling tachyon solution are calculated in subcritical string theory in the background of a linear dilaton. The rolling light-like tachyon represents the inhomogeneous decay of unstable D-brane. The decay rate is given by the imaginary part of annulus diagram which can be calculated using the boundary state/sigma-model method. It is found that the decay rate is finite in the open string ultraviolet region and depends on tachyon profile in the open string infrared region.
The $d = 2$ string admits a black hole solution and also a singular solution when tachyon back reaction is included. It is of importance to know if the former solution can evolve into a later one. An explicit solution describing this process is difficult to obtain. We present here a scenario in which such an evolution is very likely to occur. In essence, it takes place when a derivative discontinuity is seeded in the dilaton field by an incident tachyon pulse. An application of this scenario to $1 + 1$ dimensional toy models suggests that a black hole can evolve into a massive remnant, strengt…
We construct, in the closed bosonic string, the multiloop amplitude involving $N$ tachyons and one massless particle with $26 -D$ compactified directions, and we show that at least for $D>4$, the soft behaviors of the graviton and dilaton satisfy the same soft theorems as at the tree level, up to one additional term at the subsubleading order, which can only contribute to the dilaton soft behavior and which we show is zero at least at one loop. This is possible, since the infrared divergences due to the non-vanishing tachyon and dilaton tadpoles do not depend on the number of external particle…
We study the propagation of string fields (metric $G_{μν}$, Mawxell gauge potential $A_μ$, dilaton $Φ$, and tachyon $T$) in a two-dimensional (2D) charged black hole. It is shown that the tachyon is a propagating field both inside and outside the black hole. This becomes infinitely blueshifted at the inner horizon. We confirm that the inner horizon is unstable, whereas the outer horizon is stable.
We quantize the tachyon field in the two-dimensional (2D), $ε<2$ charged black holes where $ε$ is the dilaton coupling parameter for the Maxwell term. Especially the expectation value of the stress-energy tensor $\langle T_{ab}\rangle$, observed by a freely falling observer, is computed. This shows that new divergences such as $\ln f$ and ${1 \over f}$ arises near the horizon ($f \to 0$), compared with conformal matter case.
We describe timelike linear dilaton backgrounds of supercritical string theories as time-dependent Dynamical Cobordisms in string theory, with their spacelike singularity as a boundary defining the beginning of time. We propose and provide compelling evidence that its microscopic interpretation corresponds to a region of (a strong coupling version of) closed tachyon condensation. We argue that this beginning of time is closely related to (and shares the same scaling behaviour as) the bubbles of nothing obtained in a weakly coupled background with lightlike tachyon condensation. As an intermedi…
We use open string field theory to study the dynamics of unstable branes in the bosonic string theory, in the background of a generic linear dilaton. We find a simple exact solution describing a dynamical interpolation between the perturbative vacuum and the recently discovered nonperturbative tachyon vacuum. In our solution, the open string tachyon increases exponentially along a null direction, after which nonlinearities set in and cause the solution to asymptote to a static state. In particular, the wild oscillations of the open string fields which plague the time-like rolling tachyon solut…
We consider backreaction due to production of massless strings in the background of a condensing closed string tachyon. Working in the region of weak tachyon, we find the modified equations of motion for massless strings with conformal perturbation theory. We solve for the positive and negative frequency modes and estimate the backreaction on the background dilaton. In large (supercritical) dimensions, we find that the backreaction can be significant in a large region of spacetime. We work with the bosonic string, but we expect these results to carry over into the heterotic case.
The tachyon-free nonsupersymmetric string theories in ten dimensions have dilaton tadpoles which forbid a Minkowski vacuum. We determine the maximally symmetric backgrounds for the $USp(32)$ Type I string and the $SO(16)\times SO(16)$ heterotic string. The static solutions exhibit nine dimensional Poincaré symmetry and have finite 9D Planck and Yang-Mills constants. The low energy geometry is given by a ten dimensional manifold with two boundaries separated by a finite distance which suggests a spontaneous compactification of the ten dimensional string theory.
$AdS_{5}$ with linear dilaton and non vanishing $B$-field is shown to be a solution of the non critical string beta function equations. A non critical $(D=5)$ solution interpolating between flat space-time and $AdS_{5}$, with asymptotic linear dilaton and non vanishing $B$-field is also presented. This solution is free of space-time singularities and has got the string coupling constant everywhere bounded. Both solutions admit holographic interpretation in terms of ${\cal N}=0$ field theories. Closed string tachyon stability is also discussed.
After a brief review of critical string theory in trivial backgrounds we begin with introduction to strings in non--trivial backgrounds and noncritical string theory. In particular, we relate the latter to critical string theory in a linear dilaton background. We then show how a black hole background arises from 2D string theory and discuss some of its properties. A time--dependant tachyon background is constructed by perturbing the CFT describing string theory in a linear dilaton background. It is then explained that the T--dual of this theory with one non--vanishing tachyon coupling, which i…
By explicit evaluation of certain disk S-matrix elements in the presence of background B-flux, we find coupling of two open string tachyons to gauge field, graviton, dilaton or Kalb-Ramond antisymmetric tensor on the world-volume of a single non-BPS D$p$-brane. We then propose an extension of the abelian Dirac-Born-Infeld action which naturally reproduces these couplings in field theory. This action includes non-linearly the dynamics of the tachyon field much like the other bosonic modes of the non-BPS D$p$-brane. On the general grounds of gauge and T-duality transformations and the symmetrize…
A model of matter-coupled gravity in two dimensions is quantized. The crucial requirement for performing the quantization is the vanishing of the conformal anomaly, which is achieved by tuning a parameter in the interaction potential. The spectrum of the theory is determined by mapping the model first onto a field theory with a Liouville interaction, then onto a linear dilaton conformal field theory. In absence of matter fields a pure gauge theory with massless ground state is found; otherwise it is possible to minimally couple up to 11 matter scalar fields: in this case the ground state is ta…
