The generic unparticle propagator may be modified in two ways. Breaking the conformal symmetry effectively adds a mass term to the propagator, while considering vacuum polarization corrections adds a width-like term. Both of these modifications result naturally from the coupling of the unparticle to standard model (SM) fields. We explore how these modifications to the propagator affect the calculation of the lepton anomalous magnetic moment using an integral approximation of the propagator that is accurate for $d\lesssim1.5$, where $d$ is the unparticle dimension. We find that for this range of $d$ and various values of the conformal breaking scale $μ$, the value of $g-2$ calculated when allowing various SM fermions to run in the unparticle self-energy loops does not significantly deviate from the value of $g-2$ when the width term is ignored. We also investigate the limits on a characteristic mass scale for the unparticle sector as a function of $μ$ and $d$.
We study the charged lepton electric dipole moment which is induced by the scalar unparticle mediation and we predict the appropriate range for the free parameters appearing in the effective lagrangian which drives the unparticle-standard model lepton interactions. We observe that the charged lepton electric dipole moment is strongly sensitive to the scaling dimension d_u of the unparticle and the new couplings in the effective interaction. Furthermore, we see that the current experimental limits of charged lepton electric dipole moments can ensure an appropriate range for these free parameter…
We predict the contribution of scalar unparticle to the branching ratios of the lepton flavor conserving Z -> l^+ l^- decays and we study the discrepancy between the experimental and the QED corrected standard model branching ratios. We observe that these decays are sensitive to the unparticle scaling dimension d_u for its small values, especially for heavy lepton flavor output.
We predict the branching ratios of the lepton flavor violating Higgs decays H^0->e^{\pm} μ^{\pm}, H^0-> e^{\pm} τ^{\pm} and H^0->μ^{\pm} τ^{\pm} in the case that the lepton flavor violation is carried by the scalar unparticle mediation. We observe that their branching ratios are strongly sensitive to the unparticle scaling dimension and they can reach to the values of the order of $10^{-4}$, for the heavy lepton flavor case and for the small values of the scaling dimension.
We study the contribution of the tensor unparticle mediation to the branching ratios of the radiative lepton flavor violating decays and predict a restriction region for free parameters of the scenario by using experimental upper limits. We observe that the branching ratios of the radiative lepton flavor violating decays are sensitive to the fundamental mass scales of the scenario and to the scale dimension of antisymmetric tensor unparticle. We obtain a more restricted set for the free parameters in the case of the μ\rightarrow e γdecay
We predict the branching ratios of the lepton flavor violating Higgs decays H^0\rightarrow e^{\pm} μ^{\pm}, H^0\rightarrow e^{\pm} τ^{\pm} and H^0\rightarrow μ^{\pm} τ^{\pm} with the assumption that lepton flavor violation is due to the unparticle mediation. Here, we consider an effective interaction which breaks the conformal invariance after the electroweak symmetry breaking and causes that unparticle becomes massive. The new interaction results in a modification of the mediating unparticle propagator and brings additional contribution to the branching ratios of the lepton flavor violating d…
We predict the branching ratios of the lepton flavor violating Z boson decays Z\to e^{\pm} μ^{\pm}, Z\to e^{\pm} τ^{\pm} and Z\to μ^{\pm} τ^{\pm} in the case that the lepton flavor violation is carried by the scalar unparticle mediation. We observe that their BRs are strongly sensitive to the unparticle scaling dimension and the branching ratios can reach to the values of the order of 10^{-8}, for the heavy lepton flavor case, for the small values of the scaling dimension.
We predict the branching ratios of the lepton flavor violating radion decays r -> e^{\pm} μ^{\pm}, r -> e^{\pm} τ^{\pm} and r ->μ^{\pm} τ^{\pm} in the framework of the Randall-Sundrum scenario that the lepton flavor violation is carried by the scalar unparticle mediation. We observe that their BRs are strongly sensitive to the unparticle scaling dimension and, for its small values, the branching ratios can reach to the values of the order of 10^{-8}, for the heavy lepton flavor case.
The magnetic dipole moment (MDM) and the electric dipole moment (EDM) of leptons are calculated under the assumption of lepton flavor violation (LFV) induced by spin-1 unparticles with both vector and axial-vector couplings to leptons, including a CP-violating phase. The experimental limits on the muon MDM and LFV process such as the decay l_i->i_jl_kl_k are then used to constrain the LFV couplings for particular values of the unparticle operator dimension d_U and the unparticle scale Λ_U, assuming that LFV transitions between the tau and muon leptons are dominant. It is found that the current …
Recently H. Georgi has introduced an unparticle $\unpart$ in order to describe the low energy physics of a nontrivial scale invariant sector of an effective theory. In this work we have explored the phenomenology of an unparticle using the lepton flavour violating decay $μ^{-}\to e^{-} e^{+} e^{-}$, and found that the branching ratio of this decay is strongly dependent on the scaling dimension.
We study the radiative lepton flavor violating l_i -> l_j γγdecays in the case that the lepton flavor violation is induced by the scalar unparticle mediation. We restrict the scaling dimension d_u and the scalar unparticle-photon-photon coupling by using the experimental upper limit of the branching ratio of the decay μ-> e γγ. Furthermore, we predict the BRs of the other radiative decays by using the restrictions we get. We observe that the measurements of upper limits of BRs of these decays ensure considerable information for testing the possible signals coming from unparticle physics
We study the virtual effects of unparticle physics in the lepton flavor violating processes $M^0\to l^+l'^-$ and $e^+e^-\to l^+l'^-$ scattering, where $M^0$ denotes the pseudoscalar mesons: $π^0,K_L, D_0,B_0,B_s^0$ and $l,l'$ denote two different lepton flavors. For the decay of $B^0\to l^+l'^-$, there is no constraint from the current experimental upper bounds on the vector unparticle coupling with leptons. The constraint on the coupling constant between scalar unparticle field and leptons is sensitive to the scaling dimension of the unparticle $d_{\cal U}$. For the scattering process $e^-e^+…
We study effects of unparticle physics on muon g-2 and LFV tau decay processes. LFV interactions between the Standard Model sector and unparticles can explain the difference of experimental value of muon g-2 from the Standard Model prediction. While the same couplings generate LFV tau decay, we found that LFV coupling can be of O(0.1 ... 1) without conflict with experimental bounds of LFV tau decay if the scaling dimension of unparticle operator d_{U} > 1.6.
We study the contribution of antisymmetric tensor unparticle mediation to the charged lepton electric dipole moments and restrict the free parameters of the model by using the experimental upper bounds. We observe that the charged lepton electric dipole moments are strongly sensitive to the the scaling dimension d_U and the fundamental scales M_U and Λ_U. The experimental current limits of electric dipole moments are reached for the small values of the scaling dimension d_U.
We have studied lepton flavor violation processes $μ\to eγ$ and $μ-e$ conversion in nuclei induced by unparticle. Both ${\rm Br}(μ\to eγ)$ and $μ-e$ conversion rate ${\rm CR}(μ-e,{\rm Nuclei})$ strongly depend on the scale dimension $d_{\cal U}$ and the unparticle coupling $λ^{ff'}_{\rm K}$(K=V, A, S, P). Present experimental upper bounds on ${\rm Br}(μ\to eγ)$, ${\rm CR}(μ-e,{\rm Ti})$ and ${\rm CR}(μ-e,{\rm Au})$ put stringent constraints on the parameters of unaprticle physics. The scale dimensions $d_{\cal U}$ around 2 are favored for the unparticle scale $Λ_{\cal U}$ of ${\cal O}(10 {\rm …
We investigate the lepton flavor violation decays of vector mesons in the scenario of the unparticle physics by considering the constraint from $μ-e$ conversion. In unparticle physics, the predictions of LFV decays of vector mesons depend strongly on the scale dimension $d_{\mathcal{U}}$. The predictions of LFV decays of vector mesons can reach the detective sensitivity in experiment in region of $3\le d_{\mathcal{U}}\le 4$, while the prediction of $μ-e$ conversion rate can meet the experimental upper limit. For the searching of the lepton flavor violation processes of charged lepton sector in…
The exclusive production pp->pXp is known to be one of the most clean channels at the LHC. We investigate the potential of processes pp -> p l-l+ p and pp-> p gamma gamma p to probe scalar and tensor unparticles by considering three different forward detector acceptances; 0.0015<xi<0.15, 0.0015<xi<0.5 and 0.1<xi<0.5. We obtain 95% confidence level sensitivity limits on the unparticle couplings for various integrated luminosities.
The tau is the only known lepton that can decay hadronically. From this class of decays, high precision measurements of several quantities can be extracted: the CKM matrix element $V_{us}$, the mass of the strange quark, etc. Also, as a result of its large variety of decay channels, the study of the tau lepton represents an interesting tool to search for CP violation and other new physics effects. In this work, a spin-0 unparticle is considered and its contributions to the electromagnetic and weak properties of the tau lepton are calculated. It is found that such contributions can be greater t…
We consider a spin-0 unparticle and calculate its contribution to the weak properties of a fermion, which in the proper limit reduce to previously reported results for the electromagnetic properties. We then obtain an estimate for the electromagnetic and weak properties of the tau lepton. For the unparticle parameters, we consider the most recent bounds from the lepton flavor violating decay tau -> 3 mu, the muon anomalous magnetic moment, and the data for monojet production plus missing transverse energy at the LHC. In the most promising promising scenario, it is found that the unparticle con…
We place limits on scalar and vector unparticle couplings to electrons and neutrinos using data from reactor neutrino experiments originally designed to search for neutrino magnetic moment. Upper bounds on Standard Model lepton-scalar unparticle and lepton-vector unparticle couplings $λ_0$, and $λ_1$ are given for various values of the unparticle mass dimension d, and the unparticle energy scale $Λ_{\cal U}$. Especially for smaller values of the mass dimension d (1 <d <1.3) these bounds are very significant and comparable to those obtained from production rates at high energy colliders. These …
We make an evaluation of the lepton flavor violating (LFV) decays $τ\to \ell (V^0, P^0)$, where $\ell=e$ or $μ$ and $V^0(P^0)$ is a neutral vector (pseudo-scalar) meson, in the context of unparticle physics. The constraints are investigated systematically on the related coupling parameters from all the available experimental data, and the parameter values are specified appropriately. The results show that whereas over the whole parameter space allowed by experiments all the $τ\to \ell P^0$ modes have a branching ratio too small to be measurable experimentally, in a large subspace as observed a…
The unparticle effects on the $\Bs$-$\Bsbar$ mixing is revisited. Taking into account the unitarity constraints on the unparticle operators, we find that the contribution of the vector unparticle is very suppressed compared to that of the scalar unparticle. This is due to the fact that the lower bound of the scaling dimension of the vector-unparticle operator is larger. It is also shown that the mixing phase from the scalar unparticle is negative, and unparticles can produce large mixing phase.
The lepton flavor violating process $J/ψ\to ll' (l\neq l')$ serves as an ideal place to probe the unparticle theory. Such process can only occur at loop level in the Standard model (SM), so that should be very suppressed, by contrast in unparticle scenario, it happens at tree level and its contribution may be sizable for practical measurement. Moreover, the BESIII will offer the largest database on $J/ψ$ which makes more accurate measurements possible. Furthermore, for such purely leptonic decays background is relatively low and signal would be cleaner. Our work carefully investigates the poss…
Unparticle contributions to the recently measured decay mode $B_s\toμ^+μ^-$ are analyzed. We consider only the scalar unparticles because vector unparticles are expected to provide negligible contributions. Assuming that the relevant coupling constants are real, we present allowed regions of coupling constants and the scaling dimension of the scalar unparticle. While the measured value of the branching ratio is very close to the standard model predictions, one cannot exclude the possible contributions from unparticles.
We analyze the unparticle effects on the lepton flavor universality violating ratios in $b\to s$ transition, $R(K^{(*)})$. We concentrate on the vector unparticles which contribute to the relevant Wilson coefficients $C_{9,10}$. New effects appear in the form of some powers of the momentum transfer squared, which is a different feature from other new physics models like leptoquarks or $Z'$. Constraints from $B_s$-${\bar B}_s$ mixing, $B_s\toμ^+μ^-$, and the electron/muon anomalous magnetic moments are considered. It is found that the vector unparticles successfully explain $R(K^{(*)})$ with mo…
The LHCb Collaboration has recently measured the difference of time-integrated $CP$ asymmetry in $D^{0}\rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}$ and $D^{0}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}$ decays, more precisely. The reported value is $ ΔA_{CP}=-0.10 \pm 0.08 (\text{stat}) \pm 0.03 (\text{syst})\% $ which indicates no evidence for $CP$ violation. We consider the possible unparticle physics contribution in this quantity and by using the LCHb data try to constrain the parameter space of unparticle stuff.
We study unparticle effects on particle and antiparticle osillations in meson-antimeson, and muonium-antimuonium systems. Unlike usual tree level contributions to meson oscillations from heavy particle exchange with small $Γ_{12}$, the unparticle may have sizeable contributions to both $M_{12}$ and $Γ_{12}$ due to fractional dimension $d_\U$ of the unparticle. We find that very stringent constraints on the unparticle and particle interactions can be obtained. If unparticle effect dominates the contributions (which may happen in $D^0-\bar D^0$ mixing) to meson mixing parameters $x$ and $y$, we …
We have investigated the effects of unparticles in decays $B \to l ν$. It is found that the direct CP violation in the decays, which is zero in SM, can show up due to the CP conserving phase intrinsic in unparticle physics. For $l=τ$, the direct CP asymmetry can reach 30% for the scalar unparticle contribution, and 100% for the longitudinal vector unparticle contribution under the constraints of ${\rm Br}(B\toτν)$ and $νe$ elastic scattering. If both unparticle-lepton coupling universality and unparticle-quark coupling universality are assumed the constraint from $Br(π\to μν)$ leads that the d…
The decay width of the rare decay Z \to ν\barνγγis strictly constrained from the LEP data. Tensor unparticles provide a tree-level contribution to this rare decay. We have calculated the tensor unparticle contribution to the rare decay Z\to ν\barνγγ. The current experimental limit have been used to constrain unparticle couplings ν\barνZ {U}^{μν} and γγ{U}^{μν}.
We investigate the effects of scalar and vector unparticles on top quark spin correlations via the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to t \bar{t}$. In addition to the Standard Model diagrams, there is a new contribution to top-antitop quark production process mediated by unparticle in the s-channel. It is shown that scalar and vector unparticle contribution leads to a considerable deviation of the top spin correlations from the Standard Model one.
The unparticle effects on $t\bar t$ production at the future photon collider are investigated. Distributions of $t\bar t$ invariant mass and that for transverse momentum of top quark with respect to Standard Model and unparticle production are predicted. An odd valley with scalar unparticle contribution appears for some values of $d_{\U}$, which is due to the big cancellation between the contribution from SM and that from unparticle. This character may be used to study the properties of scalar unparticle. Our investigations also show that scalar unparticle may play a significant role in $t \ba…
We study the contribution of the antisymmetric tensor unparticle mediation to the diphoton production rate of the Higgs boson and try to explain the discrepancy between the measured value of the decay width of the discovered new resonance and that of the standard model Higgs boson. We observe that tree level contribution of the antisymmetric unparticle mediation is a possible candidate to explain the measured value of the diphoton decay rate.
We study the impact of unparticle physics to the chromomagnetic dipole moment (CMDM) of the top quark. We compute the effect induced by unparticle operators of scalar and vector nature coupled to fermions on the CMDM. We find that this dipole moment is sensitive to the scale dimensions $d_u$ of the unparticle and the new couplings of the respective effective operators. Using the bounds imposed on the CMDM by low-energy precision and Tevatron measurements we derive indirect limits on the unparticle parameter space. In particular, we find that the scalar-unparticle operator contribution fulfills…
We study the the electroweak symmetry breaking induced by the interaction of unparticles and the SM Higgs with an additional complex scalar. Furthermore, we estimate the contribution of the mixing scalars on the muon anomalous magnetic moment. We observe that this contribution is at least two order less than the discrepancy between the experimental and the SM results of the muon anomalous magnetic moment.
We examine supersymmetric theories with approximately conformal sectors. Without an IR cutoff the theory has a continuum of modes, which are often referred to as "unparticles." Making use of the AdS/CFT correspondence we find that in the presence of a soft-wall, a gap in the spectrum can arise, separating the zero-modes from the continuum modes. In some cases there are also discrete massive levels in the gap. We also show that when supersymmetry is broken the superpartner of a quark or lepton may simply be a bosonic continuum above a gap. Such extensions of the standard model have novel signat…
We have considered the di-photon production with unparticle at LHC. The contributions of spin-0 and spin-2 unparticle to the di-photon production are studied in the invariant mass and other kinematical distributions, along with their dependencies on the model dependent parameters. The signal corresponding to the unparticle is significant for moderate coupling constant values.
In searching for indications of new physics scalar particle and unparticle couplings in e^+ e^- \to t\bar t, we consider the role of transversely polarized initial beams at e^+ e^- colliders. By using a general relativistic spin density matrix formalism for describing the particles spin states, we find analytical expressions for the squared amplitude of the process with t or \bar t polarization measured, including the anomalous coupling contributions. Thanks to the transversely polarized initial beams these contributions are first order anomalous coupling corrections to the Standard Model (SM)…
An attempt is made to present the contribution of the scalar unparticle on some scattering processes in the Randall - Sundum (RS) model. We have evaluated the contribution of the scalar unparticle on the W - pair production cross-sections at International Linear Colliders (ILC). The results indicate that at the low values of the scaling dimension and the bounds on scale $Λ_{U}$ are around few TeV, the cross-sections are much enhanced, which is quite comparable with the W-production in the standard model and hence it is worthwhile to explore in future colliders.
In this letter we consider the case of primary scalar unparticle contributions to B(d,s) mixing. With particular emphasis on the impact of the recent hint of new physics in the measurement of the B(s) mixing phase, phi(s), we determine the allowed parameter space and impose bounds on the unparticle couplings.
We study the decay of the standard model Z boson into unparticle plus a single photon through a one-loop process. As in the anomaly type decay, only the axial-vector part of the Z coupling matching with the vector unparticle and/or the vector part of the Z coupling matching with the axial-vector unparticle can give a nonzero contribution to the decay. We show that the photon spectrum terminates at the end point in accord with Yang's theorem. Existing data on single photon production at LEP I is used to constrain the unparticle sector.
We report the phenomenological impact of unparticles in the production of di-jet at the LHC. We compute the scalar, spin-1 and spin-2 unparticle contributions to the dijet cross sections and present our results in different kinematical distributions. We find that the scalar unparticle contribution is dominant over that of the spin-1 and spin-2 unparticles for the same coupling values.
In the present work we study the effect of unparticle modified static potentials on the energy levels of the hydrogen atom. By using Rayleigh-Schrödinger perturbation theory, we obtain the energy shift of the ground state and we compare it with experimental data. Bounds on the unparticle energy scale $Λ_\mathcal{U}$ as a function of the scaling dimension $d_\mathcal{U}$ and the coupling constant $λ$ are derived. We show that there exists a parameter region where bounds on $Λ_\mathcal{U}$ are stringent, signalling that unparticles could be tested in atomic physics experiments.
Unitarity, a powerful constraint on new physics, has not always been properly accounted for in the context of hidden sectors. Feng, Rajaraman and Tu have suggested that large (pb to nb) multi-photon or multi-lepton sugnals could be generated at the LHC through the three-point functions of a conformally-invariant hidden sector (an "unparticle" sector.) Because of the conformal invariance, the kinematic distributions are calculable. However, the cross-sections for many such processes grow rapidly with energy, and at some high scale, to preserve unitarity, conformal invariance must break down. Re…
We develop techniques for studying the effects of self-interactions in the conformal sector of an unparticle model. Their physics is encoded in the higher n-point functions of the conformal theory. We study inclusive processes and argue that the inclusive production of unparticle stuff in standard model processes due to the unparticle self-interactions can be decomposed using the conformal partial wave expansion and its generalizations into a sum over contributions from the production of various kinds of unparticle stuff, corresponding to different primary conformal operators. Such processes t…
Hidden valleys, hidden sectors with multi-particle dynamics and a mass gap, can produce striking and unusual final states at the LHC. Unparticle models, hidden-sectors with conformal dynamics and no (or a very small) mass gap, can result in unusual kinematic features that indirectly reflect the conformal dynamics. When sufficiently large mass gaps are added to unparticle models, they become hidden valley models. Predictions using unparticle propagators alone overlook the most striking signals, which are typically of hidden-valley type. Inclusive signatures often cannot be predicted from unpart…
We compute to next-to-leading order in QCD the tensor unparticle contribution to the diphoton production at the LHC, wherein the unparticle sector is a consequence of (a) scale invariance but not full conformal invariance and (b) conformal invariance. We use the semi-analytical two cutoff phase space slicing method to handle the ${\cal O}(α_s)$ corrections to the $p p \to γγX$ and show that our results are insensitive to the soft and collinear cutoffs. In order to avoid the contribution of the photons due to fragmentation, we employ the smooth cone isolation criterion. Significance of the QCD …
The dynamics of fermionic unparticles is developed from first principles. It is shown that any unparticle, whether fermionic or bosonic, can be recast in terms of a canonically quantized field, but with non-local interaction terms. We further develop a possible gauge theory for fermionic unparticles. Computing the consequent contribution of un-fermions to the $β$ function of the theory, it is shown that this can be viewed as the sum of two contributions, one fermion-like and the other scalar-like. However, if full conformal invariance is imposed, the latter vanishes identically. We discuss the…
According to the standard model, the Cabibbo-favored (CF) decays are $CP$ conserve at tree level. Observation of any finite $CP$ asymmetry can be received as a signal of new physics. In CF charm meson decays, $ D^0 \rightarrow K^- π^+ $ and $ D^+ \rightarrow K_s^0 π^+ $, the following experimental values for their $CP$ asymmetry are reported, respectively: ($0.3 \pm 0.7$) % and ($-0.41 \pm 0.09$) %. The value of the later can be attributed to the mixing of $ K^0 $ and $ \overline{K^0} $, however, its contribution is about ($-0.332 \pm 0.006 $) %. In this paper, we use these experimental result…
We study unparticle effects on $b\to s γ$. The unparticle contributions can contribute significantly to both left- and right-handed chirality amplitudes. Using available experimental data and SM calculation for $B\to X_s γ$, we obtain constraints on various vector and scalar unparticle couplings. We find that the constraints sensitively depend on the unparticle dimension $d_\U$. For $d_\U$ close to one, the constraints can be very stringent. The constraints become weak when $d_\U$ is increased. In general the constraints on scalar unparticle couplings are weaker than those for vector unparticl…
A nonrelativistic unparticle can be defined as an excitation created by an operator with a definite scaling dimension in a nonrelativistic field theory with an approximate conformal symmetry. The point production rate of an unparticle has power-law dependence on its total energy with an exponent determined by its scaling dimension. We use the exact result for the 3-point function of primary operators in a nonrelativistic conformal field theory to derive the contribution to the point production rate of the unparticle from its decay into another unparticle recoiling against a particle. In the ca…
We report on recent studies of photon-induced (PI) contributions to di-lepton production and their implications for Beyond Standard Model (BSM) $Z^\prime$-bosons searches at the LHC.
The hadronic contributions to the anomalous magnetic moments of the leptons and to the effective fine structure constant at the Z-mass are reevaluated using all presently available $e^+ e^-$ data.
This paper reports the tenth-order QED contribution to the lepton g-2 from the gauge-invariant set, called Set III(c), which consists of 390 Feynman vertex diagrams containing an internal fourth-order light-by-light-scattering subdiagram. The mass-independent contribution of Set III(c) to the electron g-2 (a_e) is 4.9210(103) in units of (alpha/pi)^5. The mass-dependent contributions to a_e from diagrams containing a muon loop is 0.00370(37) (alpha/pi)^5. The tau-lepton loop contribution is negligible at present. Altogether the contribution of Set III(c) to a_e is 4.9247 (104) (alpha/pi)^5. We…
The bipair neutrino mixing describes the observed solar and atmospheric mixings; however, it predicts vanishing reactor mixing angle, which is inconsistent with the observed data. We explore the ways of minimally modifying the bipair neutrino mixing by including charged lepton contributions. There are two categories of the bipair neutrino mixing which are referred to as case 1 and case 2. It turns out that, without arbitrary phases, a minimal modification is realized by just considering one $e$ - $τ$ contribution from the charged lepton sector in the case 1. On the other hand, not only $e$ - $…
We calculate the contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of leptons in the type-I and type-III seesaw models. We show that, even if the scale of the new physics is pushed down to the electroweak scale, this contribution is not large enough to explain the measured discrepancy of the muon anomalous magnetic moment.
We discuss neutrinoless double beta decay and lepton flavor violating decays such as $μ-> eγ$ in the colored seesaw scenario. In this mechanism, neutrino masses are generated at one-loop via the exchange of TeV-scale fermionic and scalar color octets. The same particles mediate lepton number and flavor violating processes. We show that within this framework a dominant color octet contribution to neutrinoless double beta decay is possible without being in conflict with constraints from lepton flavor violating processes. We furthermore compare the "direct" color octet contribution to neutrinoles…
We evaluate the compositeness effects of tau lepton on the vertex W-tau-nu(tau) in the context of an effective Lagrangian approach. We consider that only the third family is composed and we get the corrections to the non universal lepton coupling g_(tau)/g_(e). As the experimental bounds on non universal lepton couplings in W decays are weak, we find that the excited particles contributions do not give realistic limits on the excited mass, since they lead to Lambda<m*.
The influence of the hard photon emission on the charge asymmetry in the (anti)lepton-proton elastic scattering was evaluated for the first time beyond the ultrarelativistic limit, while retaining the lepton mass at all steps of the calculation. This contribution - responsible for the charge asymmetry - is induced by interference between real photon emission from the lepton and proton. During the calculation any excited states of the intermediated proton are not considered, allowing us to use the standard fermionic propagator for this particle. The infrared divergence extracted using Lorenz-in…
Lepton mass effects play a decisive role in description of elastic lepton-proton scattering when the beam's energy is comparable to the mass of the lepton. The future MUSE experiment, which is devised to solve the "Proton Radius Puzzle", is going to cover the corresponding kinematic region for a scattering of muons by a proton target. We anticipate that helicity-flip meson exchanges will make a difference in comparison of elastic electron-proton versus muon-proton scattering in MUSE. In this article, we estimate the $σ$ meson exchange contribution in the $t$-channel. This contribution, mediate…
Higher-order hadronic contributions to the anomalous magnetic moment of the electron, muon, and $τ$ lepton are considered in detail. As a main result we find a reduction by $-11 \times 10^{-11}$ for the g-2 of the muon as compared to previous calculations. Analytical expressions for the kernel functions of higher-order hadronic effects are presented. We employ the method of asymptotic expansions to calculate kernel functions analytically in terms of a series expansion in the lepton mass.
In this work we consider a model including dark sector bosons interacting through tensor currents with Standard Model leptons. We show that for certain values of the interaction constant this model has the potential of providing an explanation for the discrepancy between theory and experiment, regarding the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. The effect on the already established measurements for the electron are small and the lepton universality violation is naturally incorporated. Possible experimental searches together with systematic approach to characteristic properties of the final st…
