Top quarks may be produced in large numbers in association with new physics at the LHC. The polarization of these top quarks probes the chiral structure of the new physics. We discuss several kinematic distributions which are sensitive to the polarization of single top quarks and can be used without full event reconstruction. For collimated tops we construct polarization-sensitive observables for both hadronic and leptonic decay modes and plot their distributions. We compute the observable polarization signals from top quarks produced in the on-shell cascade decay of a stop squark into a top quark and a neutralino, as well as top quarks produced in the analogous decay chain in same-spin partner models.
We study jet substructures of a boosted polarized top quark, which undergoes the hadronic decay $t\to b u\bar d$, in the perturbative QCD framework, focusing on the energy profile and the differential energy profile. These substructures are factorized into the convolution of a hard top-quark decay kernel with a bottom-quark jet function and a $W$-boson jet function, where the latter is further factorized into the convolution of a hard $W$-boson decay kernel with two light-quark jet functions. Computing the hard kernels to leading order in QCD and including the resummation effect in the jet fun…
Manifest gauge-invariance requires that observable states in the standard-model are described by composite operators, which involve additional Higgs contributions beyond perturbation theory. This field-theoretical effect has been confirmed in lattice simulations. It should also be experimentally accessible at high enough precision. Here a few estimates for such signatures at current and future collider experiments will be discussed.
We discuss quantum entanglement in top pair production at the LHC. Near the $t \bar t$ threshold, entanglement observables are enhanced by suppressing the contribution of $q \bar q$ subprocesses, which is achieved by a simple cut on the velocity of the $t \bar t$ system in the laboratory frame. Furthermore, we design new observables that directly measure the relevant combinations of $t\bar t$ spin correlation coefficients involved in the measurement of entanglement and Bell inequalities. As a result, the statistical sensitivity is enhanced, up to a factor of 7 for Bell inequalities near thresh…
We present the prospects of detecting quantum entanglement and the violation of Bell inequalities in $t\bar{t}$ events at the LHC. We introduce a unique set of observables suitable for both measurements, and then perform the corresponding analyses using simulated events in the dilepton final state, reconstructing up to the unfolded level. We find that entanglement can be established at better than 5$σ$ both at threshold as well as at high $p_T$ already in the LHC Run 2 dataset. On the other hand, only very high-$p_T$ events are sensitive to a violation of Bell inequalities, making it significa…
Measuring top polarization is extremely important in understanding any new physics that couples to top quark. Here, we take up the task of extracting polarization of top quark coming from TeV-scale stop decay at the upgraded high luminosity and high energy LHC. We focus on the scenario where the two tops from the stop decay lead to semi-leptonic final state. We take into account all relevant backgrounds and put kinematical cuts to suppress them. We arrive at a signal region where the desired signal can be observed with reasonable significance. Next, we examine, in such signal regions, how well…
Polarized and unpolarized observables in the process of the triplet photoproduction on a free electron, $γ+e\to e+e+e$, have been calculated in the laboratory system. These observables are calculated in the approximation when the Borsellino and $γ-e$ diagrams are taken into account. Using the method of the invariant integration over the produced electron-positron pair variables, the different distributions were obtained in the analytical form. We obtain the double distribution over the $q^2$ (the square of the four-momentum transfer to the recoil electron) and $Q^2$ (the created $e^+e^-$-pair …
The $t\bar t$ plus missing energy channel is one of the most efficient to detect third-generation leptoquarks (LQs). It offers an important test to models which explain flavor anomalies in $B$ meson decays. We outline a search strategy in the channel, relying on tagging the tops and on observables constructed out of the tops, and we assess the reach on LQs of the future high-luminosity LHC program. We find that with 3 ab$^{-1}$ a vector (scalar) LQ decaying 50% (100%) to top and neutrino can be excluded up to masses of 1.96 TeV (1.54 TeV). We also indicate several observables that, in case of …
We study semi-inclusive DIS with a transversely polarized target in the approach of collinear factorization. The effects related with the transverse polarization are at twist-3. We derive the complete result of twist-3 contributions to the relevant hadronic tensor at leading order of $α_s$, and construct correspondingly experimental observables. Measuring these observables will help to extract the twist-2 transversity distribution, twist-3 distributions and twist-3 fragmentation functions of the produced unpolarized hadron. A detailed comparison with the approach of transverse-momentum-depende…
We extend the improved Collins-Soper-Sterman (iCSS) $W+Y$ construction recently presented in~\cite{Collins:2016hqq} to the case of polarized observables, where we focus in particular on the Sivers effect in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering. We further show how one recovers the expected leading-order collinear twist-3 result from a (weighted) $q_T$-integral of the differential cross section. We are also able to demonstrate the validity of the well-known relation between the (TMD) Sivers function and the (collinear twist-3) Qiu-Sterman function within the iCSS framework. This relation al…
An optimal-observable analysis of the angular and energy distributions of the leptons and bottom quarks in the process e+e- --> tt-bar --> l^{+-}/b(b-bar)... has been performed in order to measure the most general top-quark couplings to gauge bosons at polarized linear colliders. The optimal beam polarization for determination of each coupling has been found. A very sensitive test of CP violation in tt-bar production and decay has been proposed.
We study the nature of the flavor changing neutral couplings of the top quark with the Higgs boson and the up/charm quark in the $t\bar{t}$ production at linear colliders. There are previous bounds on such tqH couplings at both, linear and hadronic colliders, with the assumption that it couples equally to the left and the right handed fermions. In this paper we examine the chirality of the tqH coupling and construct different observables which will be sensitive to it. The kinematics of the emitted q from t $\rightarrow$ qH in $t\bar{t}$ production is discussed and it was found that the polar a…
We analyze the prospects of probing the $CP$-odd $i \tilde κ\bar t γ^5 t h$ interaction at the LHC and its projected upgrades, the high-luminosity and high-energy LHC, directly using associated on-shell Higgs boson and top quark or top quark pair production. To this end we first construct a $CP$-odd observable based on top quark polarization in $W b \to t h$ scattering with optimal linear sensitivity to $\tilde κ$. For the corresponding hadronic process $pp \to t h j$ we present a method of extracting the phase-space dependent weight function that allows to retain close to optimal sensitivity …
The recent anomalies in $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ transitions could originate from some New Physics beyond the Standard Model. Either to confirm or to rule out this assumption, more tests of $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ transition are needed. Polarized $Λ_b$ decay to a $Λ$ and a dilepton pair offers a plethora of observables that are suitable to discriminate New Physics from the Standard Model. In this paper, we present a full angular analysis of a polarized $Λ_b$ decay to a $Λ(\to pπ)\ell^+\ell^-$ final state. The study is performed in a set of the operator where the Standard Model operator basis is suppl…
Monte Carlo (MC) generators are crucial for analyzing data in particle collider experiments. However, often even a small mismatch between the MC simulations and the measurements can undermine the interpretation of the results. This is particularly important in the context of LHC searches for rare physics processes within and beyond the standard model (SM). One of the ultimate rare processes in the SM currently being explored at the LHC, $pp\to t\bar tt \bar t$ with its large multi-dimensional phase-space is an ideal testing ground to explore new ways to reduce the impact of potential MC mismod…
We present a first calculation of the heavy flavor contribution to the longitudinally polarized deep-inelastic scattering structure function $g_1^{Q}$, differential in the transverse momentum or the rapidity of the observed heavy quark $Q$ or antiquark $\overline Q$. All results are obtained at next-to-leading order accuracy in QCD within the framework of a newly developed parton-level Monte Carlo generator that also allows one to study observables associated with the produced heavy quark pair such as its invariant mass distribution or its correlation in azimuthal angle. First phenomenological…

Theoretical predictions for Bhabha scattering observables are presented including complete one-loop electroweak radiative corrections. A longitudinal polarization of the initial beams is taken into account. Numerical results for the asymmetry $A_{LR}$ and the relative correction $δ$ are given for the set of the energy $E_{cm}=250, 500, 1000$~GeV with various polarization degrees.
This paper presents the high-precision theoretical predictions for $e^+e^- \to l^-l^+$ scattering. Calculations are performed using the {\tt SANC} system. They take into account complete one-loop electroweak radiative corrections as well as longitudinal polarization of initial beams. Reaction observables are obtained using the helicity amplitude method with taking into account initial and final state fermion masses. Numerical results are given for the center-of-mass energy range $\sqrt{s}=250-1000$ GeV with various degrees of polarization.

We propose a novel jet substructure observable of boosted tops that is related to the linear polarization of the $W$ boson in boosted top quark decay, which results in a $\cos2ϕ$ angular correlation between the $t\to bW$ and $W\to f\bar{f'}$ decay planes. We discuss in detail the origin of such linear polarization by applying Wigner's little group transformation. We show that the unique $\cos2ϕ$ angular correlation only exists in the boosted regime but not in the top quark rest frame. We construct an experimental observable for such correlation based on the transverse energy deposition asymmet…
