The sequestering of supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking parameters, which is induced by superconformal hidden sector, is one of the solutions for the mu/B_mu problem in gauge-mediated SUSY-breaking scenario. However, it is found that the minimal messenger model does not derive the correct electroweak symmetry breaking. In this paper we present a model which has the coupling of the messengers with the SO(10) GUT-symmetry breaking Higgs fields. The model is one of the realistic extensions of the gauge mediation model with superconformal hidden sector. It is shown that the extension is applicable for a broad range of conformality breaking scale.
First we give a review of the spurion formalism and the exact renormalization group equations for soft supersymmetry breaking parameters in general gauge theories. Next we discuss the minimal supersymmetric standard model coupled to superconformal theories leading to hierarchical Yukawa couplings by large anomalous dimensions of quarks and leptons. The soft scalar masses are found to satisfy the noble sum rule in IR regime. It is possible construct the models such that the degenerate squark/slepton masses are realized thanks to this IR sum rule. However, it is found also that this degeneracy i…
We investigate whether the Affleck-Dine mechanism can produce sufficient baryon number of the universe in the gauge-mediated SUSY breaking models, while evading the cosmological moduli problem by late-time entropy production. We find that the Q-ball formation makes the scenario difficult, irrespective of the detail mechanism of the entropy production.
We investigate whether the Affleck-Dine mechanism can produce sufficient baryon number of the universe in the gauge-mediated SUSY breaking models, while evading the cosmological moduli problem by late-time entropy production. We find that the Q-ball formation renders the scenario very difficult to work, irrespective of the detail mechanism of the entropy production.
To date, the properties of Q-balls arising from an Affleck-Dine condensate in gravity-mediated SUSY breaking have been obtained primarily through numerical simulations. In this work, we will derive the expected charge of the Q-balls formed in such a scenario through an analytical treatment. We will also examine the numerically observed difference between Q-ball formation in weakly charged condensates and formation in strongly charged condensates.
Gauge-mediated SUSY breaking with a messenger scale of order $10^{15}$ GeV has some interesting features. It can solve the flavor changing neutral current problem of supersymmetric models with predictions for superpartner masses which are identical to those of minimal supergravity models. It can however also lead to theories with novel experimental signatures. For example, we present a model in which the gluino is the lightest supersymmetric particle. We also review the present experimental status of a stable gluino.
In gauge-mediated SUSY breaking models, messengers transmit SUSY breaking from a partially hidden sector to the standard model sector via common standard model gauge interactions. The minimal set of messengers has quantum numbers of a $5 + \bar 5$ of SU(5); identical to the quantum numbers of the minimal Higgs sector of an SU(5) GUT. We show in a simple model with messenger masses of order the GUT scale that Higgs - messenger mixing quite naturally leads to a low energy MSSM with gluinos as the lightest supersymmetric particles [LSP]. We study the phenomenological consequences of such a model.
In this paper two things are done. First, we propose a simple model of dynamical gauge-mediated SUSY breaking. This model incorporates a dynamical relaxation mechanism which solves the μ-problem with no light fields beyond those of the MSSM. In the second part of the paper we show how this mechanism is generalized and give two more examples in which it is incorporated.
It has been known that in anomaly-mediated SUSY breaking model Affleck-Dine baryogenesis does not work due to trapping of Affleck-Dine field into charge-breaking minima. We show that when finite-temperature effect is properly taken into account and if reheating temperature is relatively high, the problem of falling into charge breaking global minima can be avoided and hence Affleck-Dine baryogenesis works. Moreover, for the LH_u flat direction we obtain a constraint on the mass of neutrino.
We explore a mechanism of radiative B-L symmetry breaking in analogous to the radiative electroweak symmetry breaking. The breaking scale of B-L symmetry is related to the neutrino masses through the see-saw mechanism. Once we incorporate the U(1)_{B-L} gauge symmetry in SUSY models, the U(1)_{B-L} gaugino appears, and it can mediate the SUSY breaking (Z-prime mediated SUSY breaking) at around the scale of 10^6 GeV. Then we find a links between the neutrino mass (more precisly the see-saw or B-L scale of order 10^{6} GeV) and the Z-prime mediated SUSY breaking scale. It is also very interestin…
We propose an extended version of the gauge-mediated SUSY breaking models where extra $SU(2)_L$ doublets and singlet field are introduced. These fields are assumed to be parity-odd under an additional matter parity. In this model, the lightest parity-odd particle among them would be dark matter in the Universe. In this paper, we discuss direct detection of the dark matter and the collider signatures of the model
We study the curvaton scenario using the MSSM flat directions in the gauge-mediated SUSY breaking model. We find that the fluctuations in the both radial and phase directions can be responsible for the density perturbations in the universe through the curvaton mechanism. Although it has been considered difficult to have a successful curvaton scenario with the use of those flat directions, it is overcome by taking account of the finite temperature effects, which induce a negative thermal logarithmic term in the effective potential of the flat direction.
A problem of the gauge-mediated SUSY breaking model is its difficulty to generate a natural value of mu/Bmu, while the NMSSM is a natural framework to solve the mu/Bmu problem. The NMSSM in gauge-mediated SUSY breaking in its original form does not work well since the singlet field cannot develop a desired vacuum expectation value. It also suffers from the cosmological domain wall problem. We study an extension of the model to include additional vector-like matter, which is charged under the hidden QCD. It is shown that this simple extension solves both the problems. We study phenomenological …
If SUSY is discovered at the LHC, the task will immediately turn to determining the model of SUSY breaking. Here, we employ a Mixed Modulus-Anomaly Mediated SUSY Breaking (MMAMSB) model with very similar LHC phenomenology to the more conventionally studied Constrained Minimal SUSY Model (CMSSM) and minimal Anomaly Mediated SUSY Breaking (mAMSB) models. We then study whether the models can be distinguished and measured. If we only fit to the various mass edges and mass end-points from cascade decay chains that are normally studied, a unique determination and measurement of the model is problema…
The multidimensional N=4 supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSY QM) is constructed using the superfield approach. As a result, the component form of the classical and quantum Lagrangian and Hamiltonian is obtained. In the considered SUSY QM both classical and quantum N=4 algebras include central charges, and this opens various possibilities for partial supersymmetry breaking. It is shown that quantum mechanical models with one quarter, one half and three quarters of unbroken(broken) supersymmetries can exist in the framework of the multidimensional N=4 SUSY QM, while the one-dimensional N=4 SU…
We point out that slepton pairs produced via gauge boson fusion in anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking (AMSB) model have very characteristic and almost clean signal at the Large Hadron Collider. In this article, we discuss how one lepton associated with missing energy and produced in between two high-$p_T$ and high-mass forward jets can explore quite heavy sleptons in this scenario.
The SUSY CP problem in the framework of gauge mediated SUSY breaking model is considered. We first discuss the electric dipole moments of the electron and neutron, which are likely to be larger than the experimental upper bound if all the phases in the Lagrangian are O(1). We derive a constraint on the phases in the so-called $μ$- and $B_μ$-parameters and gaugino masses. Then, we discuss a model in which the CP violating phase can be adequately suppressed. If the $μ$- and $B_μ$-parameters originate from the same superpotential interaction as the SUSY breaking field, the CP violating phase vani…

Using the freedom in SO(10) GUT's one can generalize the existing models without changing the mass spectrum of fermions to obtain a significant suppression of proton decay resulting from the baryon number violating operators of dimension 5. In some limiting cases, their contributions can be made negligible compared to the dimension 6 operators resulting from the heavy gauge bosons exchange.
Motivated by two experimental facts, the muon g-2 anomaly and the observed Higgs boson mass around 125 GeV, we propose a simple model of anomaly mediation, which can be seen as a generalization of mixed modulus-anomaly mediation. In our model, the discrepancy of the muon g-2 and the Higgs boson mass around 125 GeV are easily accommodated. The required mass splitting between the strongly and weakly interacting SUSY particles are naturally achieved by the contribution from anomaly mediation. This model is easily consistent with SU(5) or SO(10) grand unified theory.
We propose a new approach to generate messenger-matter interactions in deflected anomaly mediated SUSY breaking mechanism from typical holomorphic messenger-matter mixing terms in the Kahler potential. This approach is a unique feature of AMSB and has no analog in GMSB-type scenarios. New coupling strengths from the scaling of the (already known) Yukawa couplings always appear in this approach. With messenger-matter interactions in deflected AMSB, we can generate a realistic soft SUSY breaking spectrum for next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model(NMSSM). Successful electroweak symmetry br…
We extend the Minimum Supersymmetry Standard Model by a non-anomalous family (NAF) U(1)'_{NAF} gauge symmetry. All gauge anomalies are cancelled with no additional exotics other than the three right-handed neutrinos. The FI D-terms associated with the U(1)'_{NAF} symmetry lead to additional positive contributions to slepton squared masses. In a RG invariant way, this thus solves the tachyonic slepton mass problem in Anomaly Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking. In addition, the U (1)'_{NAF} symmetry naturally gives rise to the fermion mass hierarchy and mixing angles, and determines the mass spectr…
We consider the Affleck-Dine baryogenesis comprehensively in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. Considering the high temperature effects, we see that the Affleck-Dine field is naturally deformed into the form of the Q ball. In the natural scenario where the initial amplitude of the field and the A-terms are both determined by the nonrenormalizable superpotential, we obtain a narrow allowed region in the parameter space in order to explain the baryon number and the dark matter of the universe simultaneously. Therefore, the Affleck-Dine baryogen…
In supersymmetric models with gaugino mediated SUSY breaking (inoMSB), it is assumed that SUSY breaking on a hidden brane is communicated to the visible brane via gauge superfields which propagate in the bulk. This leads to GUT models where the common gaugino mass $m_{1/2}$ is the only soft SUSY breaking term to receive contributions at tree level. To obtain a viable phenomenology, it is assumed that the gaugino mass is induced at some scale $M_c$ beyond the GUT scale, and that additional renormalization group running takes place between $M_c$ and $M_{GUT}$ as in a SUSY GUT. We assume an SU(5)…
In string compactification preserving N=1 SUSY, moduli fields are plausible candidates for the messenger of SUSY breaking at low energy scales. In a scenario that moduli-mediated SUSY breaking is significant, the pattern of soft SUSY breaking terms depends crucially on how the light moduli with mass m \lesssim O(8π^2 m_{3/2}) are stabilized. We discuss the correspondence between the pattern of soft terms and the stabilization mechanism of light moduli within the framework of 4D effective supergravity which is generalized to include a SUSY-breaking uplifting potential which might be necessary t…
We constrain the parameter space of the minimal and gaugino-assisted anomaly mediation, and gaugino mediation models by requiring that the electroweak vacuum corresponds to the deepest minimum of the scalar potential. In the framework of anomaly mediation models we find strong lower bounds on slepton and squark masses. In the gaugino mediation models the mass spectrum is forced to be at the TeV scale. We find extensive regions of the parameter space which are ruled out, even at low tan(beta). The implications of these results on the g-2 of the muon are also analyzed.
We examined the viability of new-type charged Q-ball dark matter scenario. We considered the case where the relics can be treated as ordinary ions, to which we applied the observational constraint from MICA experiment, where no trail of heavy ion-like object is observed in $10^9$ years old ancient muscovite mica. We have found that the allowed parameter region exists but is smaller than the neutral Q-ball dark matter case. We have also discussed whether our scenario is actually consistent with Affleck-Dine mechanism.
Characteristic examples are presented of scenarios of particle production and decay in supersymmetry models in which the supersymmetry breaking is transmitted to the observable world via gauge interactions. The cases are chosen to illustrate the main classes of LHC phenomenology that can arise in these models. A new technique is illustrated that allows the full reconstruction of supersymmetry events despite the presence of two unobserved particles. This technique enables superparticle masses to be measured directly rather than being inferred from kinematic distributions. It is demonstrated tha…
We examine the reach of the CERN LHC pp collider for supersymmetric models where the dominant contribution to soft SUSY breaking parameters arises from the superconformal anomaly. In the simplest viable anomaly mediated SUSY breaking (AMSB) model, tachyonic slepton squared masses are made positive by adding a universal contribution m_0^2 to all scalars. We use the event generator ISAJET to generate AMSB signal events as a function of model parameter space. Assuming an integrated luminosity of 10 fb-1, the LHC can reach to values of $m_{\tg}\sim 2.3$ TeV for low values of $m_0$, where the dilep…
We re-examine the constraints on continuous family symmetries coming from flavour changing neutral current limits on the D-term contributions to squark and slepton masses. We show that, for a restricted choice of the familon sector, continuous family symmetries are consistent with even the most conservative limits both for the case of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking and the case of gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking.
We construct realistic supergravity models where supersymmetry breaking arises from the $D$-terms of an anomalous $U(1)$ gauge symmetry broken at the Planck scale. The model has the attractive feature that the gaugino masses, the $A$ and $B$ terms and the mass splittings between the like-charged squarks of the first two generations compared to their average masses are all suppressed. As a result, the electric dipole moment of the neutron as well as the flavor changing neutral current effects are predicted to be naturally small. These models predict naturally the expected value of the $μ$-term …
We construct a Minimum Supersymmetry Standard Model expanded by a non-anomalous family (NAF) U(1)'_{NAF} gauge symmetry. In addition, the U(1)'_{NAF} symmetry naturally gives rise to the fermion mass hierarchy and mixing angles, and determines the ma…
In the framework of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking models pair production of the lightest neutralinos, scalar leptons, or charginos at LEPII gives rise to interesting signals involving multilepton final states and missing energy. In the parameter space where the scalar tau, $\tildeτ_1$, is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle, we identify three interesting regions, which give rise to distinctly different final states: (i) 2 $τ$-leptons plus missing energy, (ii) 4 charged leptons plus missing energy where in some regions all four are $τ$-leptons, or (iii) six charged leptons, of …
The cosmological moduli problem is discussed in the framework of sequestered sector/anomaly-mediated supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking. In this scheme, the gravitino mass (corresponding to the moduli masses) is naturally 10 - 100 TeV, and hence the lifetime of the moduli fields can be shorter than $\sim 1 sec$. As a result, the cosmological moduli fields should decay before big-bang nucleosynthesis starts. Furthermore, in the anomaly-mediated scenario, the lightest superparticle (LSP) is the Wino-like neutralino. Although the large annihilation cross section means the thermal relic density of the …
Dark matter detection rates for supergravity models with R parity where supersymmetry is broken at a scale >~M_G are discussed. Non-universal soft breaking masses in both the Higgs and squark sectors are considered, and it is seen that these can effect rates by a factor of 10-100 when m_X <~ 65 GeV (X=lightest neutralino) but otherwise make relatively small corrections. The b->s+γbranching ratio is seen to correlate with detector event rates, large (small) branching ratios corresponding to small (large) event rates. Effects of precision determinations of cosmological parameters or event rate p…
We discuss SUSY models in which renormalizable lepton number violating couplings hide the decay of the Higgs through h -> χ_1^0 + χ_1^0 followed by χ_1^0 -> τ+ 2 jets or χ_1^0 -> ν_τ+ 2 jets and also explain neutrino masses. This mechanism can be made compatible with gauge mediated SUSY breaking.
We investigate SUSY breaking mediated through the deformation of the space-time geometry due to the backreaction of a nontrivial configuration of a bulk scalar field. To illustrate its features, we work with a toy model in which the bulk is four dimensions. Using the superconformal formulation of SUGRA, we provide a systematic method of deriving the 3D effective action expressed by the superfields, which can basically be extended to 5D SUGRA straightforwardly.
Recently Murayama and Nomura proposed a simple scheme to construct the gauge mediation models, using metastable supersymmetry breaking vacua. It has a possibility to predict the ultra light gravitino mass m_{3/2} \lesssim 16 eV, while such a light gravitino may destabilize the metastable vacua. We investigate stability of the metastable vacuum of their model. The transition rate from the false vacuum to true ones is evaluated by numerical calculation, including the Coleman-Weinberg potential destabilizing the metastable vacuum. It is found that when the messenger sector is minimal, stability o…
In supersymmetric Grand Unified Theories, proton decay mediated by the color--triplet higgsino is generally problematic and requires some fine--tuning of parameters. We present a mechanism which naturally suppresses such dimension 5 operators in the context of SUSY $SO(10)$. The mechanism, which implements natural doublet--triplet splitting using the adjoint higgs, converts these dimension 5 operators effectively into dimension 6. By explicitly computing the higgs spectrum and the resulting threshold uncertainties we show that the successful prediction of $\sin^2θ_W$ is maintained {\it as a pr…
We examine signals for sparticle production at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) within the framework of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking models with a low SUSY breaking scale for four different model lines, each of which leads to qualitatively different signatures. We first examine the reach of the LHC via the canonical E_T^miss and multilepton channels that have been advocated within the mSUGRA framework. Next, we examine special features of each of these model lines that could serve to further enhance the SUSY signal over Standard Model backgrounds. We use ISAJET to evaluate the SUS…
In this paper, we study non-decoupling $μ$ - $e$ transition effects by Higgs-mediated contribution in the MSSM, when some SUSY mass parameters are much greater than TeV. In order to treat CP-odd Higgs mass $m_{A^{0}}$ as a free parameter, we consider the non-universal Higgs mass model (NUHM), and assume the only left- or right-handed sleptons had flavor-mixing mass terms. If both Higgs-mediated and ordinary SUSY contribution are significant, the ratio of branching ratios $\BR(\meg) / \BR(\maleal)$ becomes sensitive to SUSY mass parameters. We investigated these mass-sensitive regions and the b…
We consider the Affleck-Dine baryogenesis comprehensively in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. Considering the high temperature effects, we see that the Affleck-Dine field is naturally deformed into the form of the Q ball. In the natural scenario where the initial amplitude of the field and the A-terms are both determined by the nonrenormalizable superpotential, we obtain only very a narrow allowed region in the parameter space in order to explain the baryon number of the universe for the case that the Q-ball formation occurs just after baryo…
We categorize general messenger and matter interactions in gauge-mediated SUSY breaking models by an R-parity for the messengers and study their phenomenological consequences. The new interactions may induce baryon- and lepton-number violating processes as well as flavor-changing neutral currents. Bounds on the couplings from low-energy data are generally weak due to the large messenger mass suppression, except for the constraint from proton decay. The soft masses for the scalar particles receive negative corrections from the new interactions. Consequently, in certain region of SUSY parameter …
The recent measurement of a_μ=\frac{g_μ-2}{2} by the E821 Collaboration at Brookhaven deviates from the quoted Standard Model (SM) central value prediction by 2.6σ. The difference between SM theory and experiment may be easily accounted for in a variety of particle physics models employing weak scale supersymmetry (SUSY). Other supersymmetric models are distinctly disfavored. We evaluate a_μfor various supersymmetric models, including minimal supergravity (mSUGRA), Yukawa unified SO(10) SUSY GUTs, models with inverted mass hierarchies (IMH), models with non-universal gaugino masses, gauge medi…
We investigate the phenomenological consequences of string models wherein the MSSM resides on a D-brane, and the hypercharge gaugino mass is generated in a geometrically separated hidden sector. This hypercharged anomaly-mediated SUSY breaking (HCAMSB) model naturally solves the tachyonic slepton mass problem endemic to pure AMSB scenarios. In HCAMSB, one obtains a mass ordering M_1>μ>M_2 with split left- and right- scalars, whereas in mAMSB models, one obtains μ>M_1>M_2 with nearly degenerate left- and right-scalars. We compute the allowed parameter space and expected superparticle mass spect…
We explore some topics in the phenomenology of gauge-mediated SUSY-breaking scenarios having a large hierarchy of Higgs VEVs, $v_U/v_D = tanβ\gg 1$. Some motivation for this scenario is first presented. We then use a systematic, analytic expansion (including some threshold corrections) to calculate the $μ$ parameter needed for proper electroweak breaking and the radiative corrections to the B parameter, which fortuitously cancel at leading order. If B = 0 at the messenger scale then $tanβ$ is naturally large and calculable; we calculate it. We then confront this prediction with classical and q…
The process gamma gamma \to mu tau b bbar is studied in the minimal supersymmetric standard model within a large tan_beta scenario imposing on the parameter space present direct and indirect constraints from B physics and rare LFV tau-decays. At a photon collider based on an e+e- linear collider with a center of mass energy of 800 GeV with the parameters of the TESLA proposal (expected integrated gamma-gamma luminosity L=200-500 inverse fb) the LFV signal can be probed for masses of the heavy neutral Higgs bosons A,H from 300 GeV up to the kinematical limit ~ 600 GeV for tan_beta in the range …
A novel realization of the gravity-mediated SUSY breaking is presented taking into account a continuous global R symmetry. Consistently with it, we employ a linear superpotential for the hidden sector superfield and a Kaehler potential parameterizing the SU(1,1)/U(1) Kaehler manifold with constant curvature -1/2. The classical vacuum energy vanishes without unnatural fine tuning and non-vanishing soft SUSY-breaking parameters, of the order of the gravitino mass, arise. A solution to the mu problem of MSSM may be also achieved by conveniently applying the Giudice-Masiero mechanism. The potentia…
SUSYGEN is a Monte Carlo program designed for computing distributions and generating events for MSSM sparticle production in e+ e- collisions. The Supersymmetric (SUSY) mass spectrum may either be supplied by the user, or can alternatively be calculated in two different models of SUSY Breaking: gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking (SUGRA), and gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking (GMSB). The program incorporates the most important production processes and decay modes, including the full set of R-parity violating decays, and the decays to the gravitino in GMSB models. Initial state radiatio…
We study N=1 supersymmetric SU(N) gauge theories with an antisymmetric tensor and F flavors using the recent proposal of a-maximization by Intriligator and Wecht. This theory had previously been studied using the method of "deconfinement", but such an analysis was not conclusive since anomalous dimensions in the non-perturbative regime could not be calculated. Using a-maximization we show that for a large range of F the theory is at an interacting superconformal fixed point. However, we also find evidence that for a range of F the theory in the IR splits into a free "magnetic" gauge sector and…
We discuss two cosmological issues in a generic gauge-mediated supersymmetry (SUSY)-breaking model, namely the Universe's baryon asymmetry and the gravitino dark-matter density. We show that both problems can be simultaneously solved if there exist extra matter multiplets of a SUSY-invariant mass of the order of the ``$μ$-term'', as suggested in several realistic SUSY grand-unified theories. We propose an attractive scenario in which the observed baryon asymmetry is produced in a way totally independent of the reheating temperature of inflation without causing any cosmological gravitino proble…
Supersymmetric standard model with softly broken lepton symmetry provides a suitable framework to accommodate the solar and atmospheric neutrino anomalies. This model contains a natural explanation for large mixing and hierarchal masses without fine tuning of the parameters. Neutrino spectrum is particularly constrained in the minimal messenger model (MMM) of gauge mediated SUSY breaking, since all SUSY breaking effects are controlled in MMM by a single parameter. We study the structure of neutrino masses and mixing both in MMM and in simple extensions of it in the context of solar and atmosph…
We study a generalization of anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking (AMSB) scenarios, under the assumption that the effects of the high-scale theory do not completely decouple and D-term type contributions can be therefore present. We investigate the effect of such possible D-term additional contributions to soft scalar masses by requiring that, for non-vanishing, renormalizable Yukawa couplings $Y^{ijk} $, the sum of squared soft supersymmetry breaking mass parameters, $M^2_{ijk} \equiv m_i^2+m_j^2+m_k^2$, is RG-invariant, in the sense that it becomes independent of the specific ultraviolet …
In certain class of flux compactification, moduli mediated supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking preserves flavor and CP at leading order in the perturbative expansion controlled by the vacuum expectation value of the messenger modulus. Nevertheless there still might be dangerous flavor or CP violation induced by higher order Kähler potential. We examine the constraints on such SUSY breaking scheme imposed by low energy flavor and/or CP violating observables. It is found that all phenomenological constraints can be satisfied even for generic form of higher order Kähler potential and sparticle spectra …
Thermal inflation is an attractive idea to dilute cosmic density of unwanted particles such as moduli fields which cause cosmological difficulties. However, it also dilutes preexisting baryon asymmetry and some viable baryogenesis is necessary for a cosmologically consistent scenario. We investigate whether the Affleck-Dine mechanism can produce baryon asymmetry enough to survive after the dilution in gauge-mediated SUSY breaking models. Flat directions except for $LH_u$ flat direction cannot provide such huge baryon number because of Q-ball formation. We show that although the $LH_u$ flat dir…
Anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking in the context of 4D conformally sequestered models is combined with Poppitz-Trivedi D-type gauge-mediation. The implementation of the two mediation mechanisms naturally leads to visible soft masses at the same scale so that they can cooperatively solve the mu and flavor problems of weak scale supersymmetry, as well as the tachyonic slepton problem of pure anomaly-mediation. The tools are developed in a modular fashion for more readily fitting into the general program of optimizing supersymmetric dynamics in hunting for the most attractive weak scale phe…
We study the formation of Q-balls which are made of flat directions that appear in the supersymmetric extension of the standard model in the context of gravity-mediated supersymmetry breaking. The full non-linear calculations for the dynamics of the complex scalar field are made. Since the scalar potential in this model is flatter than ϕ^2, we have found that fluctuations develop and go non-linear to form non-topological solitons, Q-balls. The size of a Q-ball is determined by the most amplified mode, which is completely determined by the model parameters. On the other hand, the charge of Q-ba…
We review the equivalence of two approaches to study theories with gauge fields in extra spatial dimensions, namely the ``4D'' approach (with KK states) and the ``5D'' approach (with matching to the 4D theory at the compactification scale). In particular, we reiterate that there are two different power-law scalings of ``effective'' gauge couplings. In a supersymmetric framework with SUSY breaking in the radius modulus, i.e., the field which fixes the size of the extra dimensions, these two approaches seem to give gaugino masses at loop-level (with a possible enhancement due to large number of …
This Letter addresses a provocative question: ``Can the standard electroweak Higgs doublets and their color-triplet partners be the messengers of a low energy gauge-mediated SUSY breaking?" Such a possibility does not seem to be immediately ruled out. If so, it can lead to a very economical scheme with clear-cut predictions quite distinct from those of the conventional gauge-mediated scenario. Namely, we get (i) a single light Higgs below the original SUSY- breaking scale; (ii) tan(beta) = 1; (iii) flavor non-universal, but automatically flavor-conserving soft scalar masses; (iv) a light color…
