The feasibility studies of the central exclusive jet production at the LHC using the proton tagging technique are presented. Three classes of data taking scenarios are considered: double tag at high pile-up, single tag at low pile-up and double tag at low pile-up. Analyses were performed at the c.m. energy of 14 TeV for the ATLAS experiment, but are also valid for the CMS/TOTEM detectors.

We consider the exclusive diffractive dissociation of a proton into three jets with large transverse momenta in the double-logarithmic approximation of perturbative QCD. This process is sensitive to the proton unintegrated gluon distribution at small x and to the proton light-cone distribution amplitudes. According to our estimates, an observation of such processes in the early runs at LHC is feasible for jet transverse momenta of the order of 5 GeV.

We propose a novel strategy to constrain the bottom and charm Yukawa couplings by exploiting LHC measurements of transverse momentum distributions in Higgs production. Our method does not rely on the reconstruction of exclusive final states or heavy-flavour tagging. Compared to other proposals it leads to an enhanced sensitivity to the Yukawa couplings due to distortions of the differential Higgs spectra from emissions which either probe quark loops or are associated to quark-initiated production.
