Examples of hyperlinear groups without factorization property

In this note we give an example of a group which is locally embeddable into finite groups (in particular it is initially subamenable, sofic and hence hyperlinear) but does not have Kirchberg's factorization property. This group provides also an example of a sofic Kazhdan group which is not residually finite, answering a question of Elek and Szabo. We also give an example of a group which is not initially subamenable but hyperlinear. Finally, we point out a mistake in an assertion of Kirchberg and provide an example of a group which does not have the factorization property and is still a subgroup of a connected finite-dimensional Lie group.

Hyperlinearity, essentially free actions and $L^2$-invariants. The sofic property

We prove that Connes' Embedding Conjecture holds for the von Neumann algebras of sofic groups, that is sofic groups are hyperlinear. Hence we provide some new examples of hyperlinearity. We also show that the Determinant Conjecture holds for sofic groups as well. We introduce the notion of essentially free actions and amenable actions and study their properties.

Property (T), property (F) and residual finiteness for discrete quantum groups

We investigate connections between various rigidity and softness properties for discrete quantum groups. After introducing a notion of residual finiteness, we show that it implies the Kirchberg factorization property for the discrete quantum group in question. Reflection factorizations and quasi-Coxeter elements

We investigate the so-called dual Matsumoto property or Hurwitz action in finite, affine and arbitrary Coxeter groups.
