Let $Γ$ be a quiver on n vertices $v_1, v_2, ..., v_n$ with $g_{ij}$ edges between $v_i$ and $v_j$, and let $α\in \N^n$. Hua gave a formula for $A_Γ(α, q)$, the number of isomorphism classes of absolutely indecomposable representations of $Γ$ over the finite field $\F_q$ with dimension vector $α$. Kac showed that $A_Γ(\bmα, q)$ is a polynomial in q with integer coefficients. Using Hua's formula, we show that for each non-negative integer s, the s-th derivative of $A_Γ(α,q)$ with respect to q, when evaluated at q = 1, is a polynomial in the variables $g_{ij}$, and we compute the highest degree terms in this polynomial. Our formulas for these coefficients depend on the enumeration of certain families of connected graphs.
For an arbitrary quiver Q and dimension vector d we prove that the dimension of the space of cuspidal functions on the moduli stack of representations of Q of dimension d over a finite field F_q is given by a polynomial in q with rational coefficients. We define a variant of this polynomial counting absolutely cuspidal functions, prove that it has integral coefficients and conjecture that it has positive coefficients. In the case of totally negative quivers (such as the g-loop quiver for g >1) we provide a closed formula for these polynomials in terms of Kac polynomials.
This paper presents analogous results of Hua [7][8] on numbers of representations of quivers over finite fields which respect nilpotent relations under certain assumptions. A closed formula which counts isomorphism classes of absolutely indecomposable representations with given dimension vectors is given and a $q$-deformation of Weyl-Kac denominator identity is established. In principle, if the numbers of representations are known, then the numbers of isomorphism classes of absolutely indecomposable representations are known.
It is shown that rational points over finite fields of moduli spaces of stable quiver representations are counted by polynomials with integer coefficients. These polynomials are constructed recursively using an identity in the Hall algebra of a quiver.
The spectrum of chiral operators in supersymmetric quiver gauge theories is typically much larger in the free limit, where the superpotential terms vanish. We find that the finite N counting of operators in any free quiver theory, with a product of unitary gauge groups, can be described by associating Young diagrams and Littlewood-Richardson multiplicities to a simple modification of the quiver, which we call the split-node quiver. The large N limit leads to a surprisingly simple infinite product formula for counting gauge invariant operators, valid for any quiver with bifundamental fields. An…
We count the $\mathbb{F}_q$-rational points of GIT quotients of quiver representations with relations. We focus on two types of algebras -- one is one-point extended from a quiver $Q$, and the other is the Dynkin $A_2$ tensored with $Q$. For both, we obtain explicit formulas. We study when they are polynomial-count. We follow the similar line as in the first paper but algebraic manipulations in Hall algebra will be replaced by corresponding geometric constructions.
In this article we prove explicit formulae for the number of non-isomorphic cluster-tilted algebras of type \tilde{A}_n in the derived equivalence classes. In particular, we obtain the number of elements in the mutation classes of quivers of type \tilde{A}_n. As a by-product, this provides an alternative proof for the number of quivers of Dynkin type D_n which was first determined by Buan and Torkildsen.
A systematic study of holomorphic gauge invariant operators in general $\mathcal{N}=1$ quiver gauge theories, with unitary gauge groups and bifundamental matter fields, was recently presented in [1]. For large ranks a simple counting formula in terms of an infinite product was given. We extend this study to quiver gauge theories with fundamental matter fields, deriving an infinite product form for the refined counting in these cases. The infinite products are found to be obtained from substitutions in a simple building block expressed in terms of the weighted adjacency matrix of the quiver. In…
We introduce a class of new algebras, the shifted quiver Yangians, as the BPS algebras for type IIA string theory on general toric Calabi-Yau three-folds. We construct representations of the shifted quiver Yangian from general subcrystals of the canonical crystal. We derive our results via equivariant localization for supersymmetric quiver quantum mechanics for various framed quivers, where the framings are determined by the shape of the subcrystals. Our results unify many known BPS state counting problems, including open BPS counting, non-compact D4-branes, and wall crossing phenomena, simply…
We prove a new formula for the generating function of polynomials counting absolutely stable representations of quivers over finite fields. The case of irreducible representations is studied in more detail.
The purpose of this paper is to give an explicit formula for the number of non-isomorphic cluster-tilted algebras of type $A_n$, by counting the mutation class of any quiver with underlying graph $A_n$. It will also follow that if $T$ and $T'$ are cluster-tilting objects in a cluster category $\mathcal{C}$, then $\End_{\mathcal{C}}(T)$ is isomorphic to $\End_{\mathcal{C}}(T')$ if and only if $T=τ^i T'$.
We prove a generating function formula for the Betti numbers of Nakajima quiver varieties. We prove that it is a q-deformation of the Weyl-Kac character formula. In particular this implies that the constant term of the polynomial counting the number of absolutely indecomposable representations of a quiver equals the multiplicity of a a certain weight in the corresponding Kac-Moody algebra, which was conjectured by Kac in 1982.
This is a continuation of our combinatorial program on the enumeration of Borel orbits in symmetric varieties of classical types. Here, we determine the generating series the numbers of Borel orbits in $\mathbf{SO}_{2n+1}/\mathbf{S(O}_{2p}\times \mathbf{O}_{2q+1}\mathbf{)}$ (type $BI$) and in $\mathbf{Sp}_n/\mathbf{Sp}_p\times \mathbf{Sp}_q$ (type $CII$). In addition, we explore relations to lattice path enumeration.
We give a formula for counting tree modules for the quiver S_g with g loops and one vertex in terms of tree modules on its universal cover. This formula, along with work of Helleloid and Rodriguez-Villegas, is used to show that the number of d-dimensional tree modules for S_g is polynomial in g with the same degree and leading coefficient as the counting polynomial A_{S_g}(d, q) for absolutely indecomposables over F_q, evaluated at q=1.
We prove a family of factorization formulas for the combinatorial Donaldson--Thomas invariant for an acyclic quiver. A quantum dilogarithm identity due to Reineke, later interpreted by Rimanyi by counting codimensions of quiver loci, gives two extremal cases of our formulation in the Dynkin case. We establish our interpolating factorizations explicitly with a dimension counting argument by defining certain stratifications of the space of representations for the quiver and calculating Betti numbers in the corresponding equivariant cohomology algebras.
In this paper we prove that the counting polynomials of certain torus orbits in products of partial flag varieties coincides with the Kac polynomials of supernova quivers, which arise in the study of the moduli spaces of certain irregular meromorphic connections on trivial bundles over the projective line. We also prove that these polynomials can be expressed as a specialization of Tutte polynomials of certain graphs providing a combinatorial proof of the non-negativity of their coefficients.
Quiver Grassmannians and quiver flags are natural generalisations of usual Grassmannians and flags. They arise in the study of quiver representations and Hall algebras. In general, they are projective varieties which are neither smooth nor irreducible. We use a scheme theoretic approach to calculate their tangent space and to obtain a dimension estimate similar to one of Reineke. Using this we can show that if there is a generic representation, then these varieties are smooth and irreducible. If we additionally have a counting polynomial we deduce that their Euler characteristic is positive an…
We study the supersymmetric ground states of the Kronecker model of quiver quantum mechanics. This is the simplest quiver with two gauge groups and bifundamental matter fields, and appears universally in four-dimensional N=2 systems. The ground state degeneracy may be written as a multi-dimensional contour integral, and the enumeration of poles can be simply phrased as counting bipartite trees. We solve this combinatorics problem, thereby obtaining exact formulas for the degeneracies of an infinite class of models. We also develop an algorithm to compute the angular momentum of the ground stat…
This work develops a methodical approach to counting of walks on cartesian products, biproducts, symmetric and exterior powers and bipowers, Schur operations, coverings and semicoverings of weighted graphs. For weight and root lattices of semisimple Lie algebras, this approach allows us to compute various combinatorial and representation-theoretical constants, in particular, the number of plane symplectic wave graphs with given number of vertices.
We prove that the weight multiplicities of the integrable irreducible highest weight module over the Kac-Moody algebra associated to a quiver are equal to the root multiplicities of the Kac-Moody algebra associated to some enlarged quiver. To do this, we use the Kac conjecture for indivisible roots and a relation between the Poincare polynomials of quiver varieties and the Kac polynomials, counting the number of absolutely irreducible representations of the quiver over finite fields. As a corollary of this relation, we get an explicit formula for the Poincare polynomials of quiver varieties, w…
The notion of a $τ$-exceptional sequence was introduced by Buan and Marsh in 2018 as a generalisation of an exceptional sequence for finite dimensional algebras. We calculate the number of complete $τ$-exceptional sequences over certain classes of Nakayama algebras. In some cases, we obtain closed formulas which also count other well known combinatorial objects and exceptional sequences of path algebras of Dynkin quivers.
The aim of this memoir for "Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches" is to present quantum geometric and algebraic aspects of supersymmetric gauge theory, which emerge from non-perturbative nature of the vacuum structure induced by instantons. We start with a brief summary of the equivariant localization of the instanton moduli space, and show how to obtain the instanton partition function and its generalization to quiver gauge theory and supergroup gauge theory in three ways: the equivariant index formula, the contour integral formula, and the combinatorial formula. We then explore the geometri…
Motivated by the counting of BPS states in string theory with orientifolds, we study moduli spaces of self-dual representations of a quiver with contravariant involution. We develop Hall module techniques to compute the number of points over finite fields of moduli stacks of semistable self-dual representations. Wall-crossing formulas relating these counts for different choices of stability parameters recover the wall-crossing of orientifold BPS/Donaldson-Thomas invariants predicted in the physics literature. In finite type examples the wall-crossing formulas can be reformulated in terms of id…
We consider a large class of $q$-series that have the structure of Nahm sums, or equivalently motivic generating series for quivers. First, we initiate a systematic analysis and classification of classical and quantum A-polynomials associated to such $q$-series. These quantum quiver A-polynomials encode recursion relations satisfied by the above series, while classical A-polynomials encode asymptotic expansion of those series. Second, we postulate that those series, as well as their quantum quiver A-polynomials, can be reconstructed by means of the topological recursion. There is a large class…
