We present preliminary results on inclusive direct photon production in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=1.96 TeV, using data collected with the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab in Run II, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 451 pb$^{-1}$. Measurements are performed as a function of the photon transverse momentum for photons with $p_{T}>$30 GeV and $|η|<$1.0. Photons are required to be isolated in the calorimeter. The measurement is corrected to the hadron level and compared to NLO pQCD predictions.

We present preliminary results on a search for squarks and gluinos in proton-antiproton collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV and based on 1.1 fb-1 of data collected by the CDF detector in the Tevatron Run II. Events with multiple jets of hadrons and large missing transverse energy in the final state are studied within the framework of minimal supergravity and assuming R-parity conservation. No excess with respect to Standard Model predictions is observed and new limits on the gluino and squark masses are extracted.
A measurement of the cross section for the inclusive production of isolated photons by the CDF experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider is presented. The measurement covers the pseudorapidity region |eta^gamma|<1.0 and the transverse energy range E_T^gamma>30 GeV and is based on 2.5/fb of integrated luminosity. The sample is almost a factor of seven larger than those used for recent published results and extends the E_T^gamma coverage by 100 GeV. The result agrees with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations within uncertainties over the range 50<E_Tgamma<400 GeV, though the en…
We report on measurements of the inclusive jet production cross section as a function of the jet transverse momentum in pp-bar collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV}, using the k_T algorithm and a data sample corresponding to 1.0 fb^-1 collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab in Run II. The measurements are carried out in five different jet rapidity regions with |yjet| < 2.1 and transverse momentum in the range 54 < \ptjet < 700 GeV/c. Next-to-leading order perturbative QCD predictions are in good agreement with the measured cross sections.
We present a search for standard model (SM) Higgs boson production using ppbar collision data at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV, collected with the CDF II detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.8 fb-1. We search for Higgs bosons produced in all processes with a significant production rate and decaying to two W bosons. We find no evidence for SM Higgs boson production and place upper limits at the 95% confidence level on the SM production cross section (sigma(H)) for values of the Higgs boson mass (m_H) in the range from 110 to 200 GeV. These limits are the most stringent for m_H > 130…
We present preliminary results on a search for squarks and gluinos in proton-antiproton collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV and based on about 2.0 fb-1 of data collected by the CDF detector in the Tevatron Run II. Events with multiple jets of hadrons and large missing transverse energy in the final state are studied within the framework of minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) and assuming R-parity conservation. The results are compared to Standard Model predictions and limits on gluino and squark masses are extracted. A specific search for the supersymmetric partner of the bottom quar…
Recent jet results in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=1.96 TeV from the CDF experiment at the Tevatron are presented. The jet inclusive cross section is compared to next-to-leading order QCD prediction in different rapidity regions. The $b$-jet inclusive cross section is measured exploiting the long lifetime and large mass of $B$-hadrons. Jet shapes, W+jets and W/Z+photon cross sections are also measured and compared to expectations from QCD production.
Recent results on jet physics at the Fermilab Tevatron $p\bar p$ collider from the CDF Collaboration are presented. The main focus is put on results for the inclusive jet and dijet, $b\bar b$ dijet, $W/Z+$jets and $W/Z+b$-jets production.
This Letter reports a measurement of the cross section for producing pairs of central prompt isolated photons in proton-antiproton collisions at a total energy of 1.96 TeV using data corresponding to 9.5/fb integrated luminosity collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The measured differential cross section is compared to three calculations derived from the theory of strong interactions. These include a prediction based on a leading order matrix element calculation merged with parton shower, a next-to-leading order, and a next-to-next-to-leading order calculation. The firs…
A measurement of Delta m_d is performed using inclusive lepton+vertex events at CDF. A probability based Same-Side Tagger was developed to tag the initial b-flavor of the B^0_d, which suppresses tagging on B-decay products. We find Delta m_d = 0.42 +/- 0.09 +/- 0.03 ps^-1.
Presented are the most recent jet fragmentation results from CDF: inclusive distributions of charged particle momenta and their kT in jets; average track multiplicities, as well as angular distributions of multiplicity flow, for a wide range of jet energies with ET from 40 to 300 GeV. The results are compared with Monte-Carlo and, when possible, analytical calculations performed in resummed perturbative QCD approximations (MLLA).
We present a measurement of the top quark mass with t-tbar dilepton events produced in p-pbar collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron $\sqrt{s}$=1.96 TeV and collected by the CDF II detector. A sample of 328 events with a charged electron or muon and an isolated track, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.9 fb$^{-1}$, are selected as t-tbar candidates. To account for the unconstrained event kinematics, we scan over the phase space of the azimuthal angles ($ϕ_{ν_1},ϕ_{ν_2}$) of neutrinos and reconstruct the top quark mass for each $ϕ_{ν_1},ϕ_{ν_2}$ pair by minimizing a $χ^2$ function in t…
We report on a study of jet shapes in inclusive jet production in $p \bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96 {\rm TeV}$ using the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab in Run II (CDF II) based on an integrated luminosity of $170 \rm pb^{-1}$. Measurements are carried out on jets with rapidity $0.1 < |Y^{\rm jet}| < 0.7$ and transverse momentum 37 GeV/c $< P_T^{\rm jet} < 380$ GeV/c. The jets have been corrected to the hadron level. The measured jet shapes are compared to leading-order QCD parton-shower Monte Carlo predictions as implemented in the PYTHIA and HERWIG programs. PYTHIA, tuned to …

Differential cross sections are presented in the isolated-photon transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges $6 < E_T^γ< 15$ GeV and $-0.7 < η^γ< 0.9,$ and for jet transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges $4 < E_T^{jet} < 35$ GeV and $-1.5 < η^{jet} < 1.8,$ for exchanged-photon virtualities $Q^2 < 1$ GeV$^2$. Differential cross sections are also presented for inclusive isolated-photon production as funct…
The Run II physics program of CDF is proceeding with approximately 200 pb-1 of analysis quality data collected at the center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The Electroweak measurements are among the first and most important benchmarks towards the best understanding of the detector and testing of the Standard Model. We present precision measurements of the W and Z inclusive cross sections and decay asymmetries, recent results in di-boson physics and their sensitivity to new physics, and preliminary studies for the W mass measurement.
In their 1997 paper, CDF measured sigma_effective, the normalization factor that relates the cross section for double parton scattering to the product of the inclusive cross sections of the two individual scatters, in a model in which they are assumed to be independent. In his 2007 paper, Treleani pointed out that CDF used a non-standard definition, in which the double parton scattering cross section corresponds to exactly two scatters, rather than the more conventional one in which it is the inclusive two-scatter cross section. He also estimated the correction from one definition to the other…
Using a subset of the current Run II data, the CDF and \D0 have performed several measurements on heavy flavor production. In this paper, we present a new measurement of prompt charm meson production by CDF. We also report the latest CDF II measurements of inclusive $J/Ψ$ production and $b$-production without requirement of minimum transverse momentum on $J/Ψ$ and $b$-quark. They are the first measurements of the total inclusive $J/Ψ$ and $b$ quark cross section in the central rapidity region at a hadron collider. The results of $J/Ψ$ cross section as a function of rapidity, and $b$-jet produc…
Measurements of inclusive isolated-photon and photon+jet production in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV are presented. The analysis uses data collected by the CMS experiment in 2015, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.26 fb$^{-1}$. The cross section for inclusive isolated photon production is measured as a function of the photon transverse energy in a fiducial region. The cross section for photon+jet production is measured as a function of the photon transverse energy in the same fiducial region with identical photon requirements and with the highest transverse momen…
Using information on B-meson fragmentation functions from CERN LEP 1 and adopting the nonrelativistic QCD factorization formalism proposed by Bodwin, Braaten, and Lepage, we predict the transverse-momentum distribution of J/psi mesons originating from the inclusive decays of b hadrons produced in p p-bar collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron. We determine the relevant colour-octet charmonium matrix elements from fits to CDF data on prompt charmonium hadroproduction and to CLEO data on charmonium production from B-meson decay. Our predictions are found to agree well with recent CDF and D0 data.
Recent measurements of jet and multijet production cross sections from ppbar collisions recorded with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) are summarized. First Run II results of the inclusive one jet cross section at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV as well as prospects for future extensions of this measurement are presented. We also studied the properties of three-jet events in Run Ib data at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV. All results are compared to predictions of Quantum Chromodynamics at next-to-leading order perturbation theory.
The latest CDF and D0 experiment measurements of the top quark properties except the top quark mass are presented. The final combination of the CDF and D0 forward-backward asymmetry measurements is shown together with the D0 measurements of the inclusive top quark pair cross-section as well as the top quark polarization.
Inclusive isolated-photon production in $pp$ collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV is studied with the ATLAS detector at the LHC using a data set with an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb$^{-1}$. The cross section is measured as a function of the photon transverse energy above 125 GeV in different regions of photon pseudorapidity. Next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD and Monte Carlo event-generator predictions are compared to the cross-section measurements and provide an adequate description of the data.
Results are presented for the inclusive jet cross section versus jet transverse energy in proton-antiproton collisions at center of mass energy 1.8 TeV as measured by the CDF and D0 detectors at Fermilab's Tevatron collider. The data are compared to next-to-leading order QCD predictions using different input parton distribution functions. The ratio of inclusive jet cross sections at center of mass energy 0.63 TeV and center of mass energy 1.8 TeV, versus jet x_T, is also presented and compared to QCD predictions.
We report a combination of the CDF and D0 measurements of the inclusive single top quark production cross section in the s- and t-channels in ppbar collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96TeV. The total integrated luminosity included in CDF's analysis is 3.2 fb^-1 and D0's analysis has 2.3 fb^-1. A Bayesian analysis is used to extract the cross section from the distributions of multivariate discriminants provided by the collaborations. For a top quark mass m_t=170 GeV/c^2, we measure a cross section of 2.76 +0.58 -0.47 pb. We extract the CKM matrix element |Vtb|=0.88+-0.07 with a 95% C.L.…

In each jet multiplicity sample the differential and cumulative cross sections with respect to the transverse energy of the i^th-jet are measured. For W+>=2 jets the differential cross section with respect to the 2-leading jets invariant mass m_j1j2 and angular separation Delta R_j1j2 is also report…
We report an evidence of \textit{s}-channel single top quark production in $p\bar{p}$ collision at $\sqrt{s}= 1.96 \mathrm{TeV}$ using data with integrated luminosity of $9.4 \mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF). We select events with one charged lepton, large missing transverse energy and two bottom quark jets. The observed significance of the result is 3.8 standard deviation from background only prediction. We measure the inclusive cross section to be $1.41^{+0.44}_{-0.42}\mathrm{(stat+syst)} \mathrm{pb}$ assuming $m_t = 172.5 \mathrm{GeV}/c^2$.
The latest results in B physics from the CDF and D0 experiments at the Tevatron are presented, including inclusive b lifetime measurement and exclusive lifetime measurement of the B_s. Promising samples collected by CDF with its Secondary Vertex Trigger are shown as well.
A measurement of the cross section for the inclusive production of isolated prompt photons in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy sqrt(s) = 7TeV is presented. The measurement covers the pseudorapidity ranges |eta|<1.37 and 1.52<|eta|<1.81 in the transverse energy range 15 < E_T <100 GeV. The results are based on an integrated luminosity of 880 nb-1, collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Photon candidates are identified by combining information from the calorimeters and from the inner tracker. Residual background in the selected sample is estimated from data based…
We review the latest underlying event and minimum bias results and discuss the associated problematics with the idea of establishing a solid baseline for the LHC experiments. These measurements include study of the underlying event in Drell-Yan and dijet events, and inclusive differential (in $p_T$) cross sections of centrally ($\midη\mid <$1) produced lambdas, cascades and omegas. We also present recent results on diffraction obtained by the CDF collaboration. Single-diffractive W and Z production is discussed. The first experimental observation of exclusive dijets, exclusive $χ_{c0}$ mesons,…

The measurement covers the pseudorapidity ranges |eta|<1.37 and 1.52<=|eta|<2.37 in the transverse energy range 45<=E_T<400GeV. The results are based on an integrated luminosity of 35 pb-1, collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The yields of the signal photons are measured using a data-driven technique, based on the observed distribution of the hadronic energy in a narrow cone around the photon candidate and th…
In this paper we review a selection of recent results obtained, in the area of QCD physics, from the CDF-II experiment that studies $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=1.96 TeV provided by the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. All results shown correspond to analysis performed using the Tevatron Run II data samples. In particular we will illustrate the progress achieved and the status of our studies on the following QCD processes: jet inclusive production, using different jet clustering algorithm, $W(\to e ν_e)+ $jets and $Z(\to e^+ e^-)+ $jets production, $γ+b-$jet production, dijet production in d…
Measurements of the inclusive jet cross section and the dijet angular distribution using data from the Tevatron are presented. Comparisons to NLO QCD show good agreement below 250 GeV, but CDF data show an excess at higher ET; qualitative agreement is seen between the CDF and DO cross sections. Analysis of the dijet angular distributions exclude quark compositeness below 2.1 TeV.
We present measurements of the top-antitop production cross section in b-tagged lepton + jets events from proton-antiproton collisions at 1.96 TeV using the CDF detector at Fermilab. B-jets are tagged with either a secondary vertex algorithm, or a soft lepton tagger that identifies muons from B hadron semileptonic decays. With Tevatron Run II data, we estimate the top-antitop signal fraction in two different ways: by estimating the various background contributions, and by fitting directly the leading jet transverse energy spectrum for the signal and background contributions. A subset of the sa…
In this report, we summarize the latest results of the top-quark pair production asymmetry and present the new result of bottom-quark pair production asymmetry. By looking at the results obtained by the CDF experiment, one can see a discrepancy in both $t\bar{t}$ inclusive and lepton-based measurements. The D0 results of the $t\bar{t}$ production asymmetry are compatible with the standard-model predictions as well as with the CDF results. The CDF measurement of $b\bar{b}$ production asymmetry presents consistency with both zero and with the standard-model predictions.
We present a measurement of the inclusive jet cross section in ppbar interactions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV using 385 pb^{-1} of data collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The results are obtained using an improved cone-based jet algorithm (Midpoint). The data cover the jet transverse momentum range from 61 to 620 GeV/c, extending the reach by almost 150 GeV/c compared with previous measurements at the Tevatron. The results are in good agreement with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD predictions using the CTEQ6.1M parton distribution functions.
This paper reports the most recent measurements of single top quark production performed by CDF and D0 collaborations in proton-antiproton collisions at Tevatron. Events are selected in the lepton+jets final state by CDF and D0 and in the missing transverse energy plus jets final state by CDF. The small single top signal in s-channel, t-channel and inclusive s+t channel is separated from the large background by using different multivariate techniques. We also present the most recent results on extraction of the CKM matrix element $|V_{tb}|$ from the single top quark cross section.
A measurement of the cross section for the inclusive production of isolated prompt photons in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV is presented. The measurement covers the pseudo rapidity ranges $|η^γ| < 1.37$ and $1.56 \leq |η^γ| < 2.37$ in the transverse energy range $25 < E_{\rm T}^γ < 1500$ GeV. The results are based on an integrated luminosity of 20.2 fb$^{-1}$, recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Photon candidates are identified by combining information from the calorimeters and the inner tracker. The background is subtracted using a data-drive…
The inclusive jet differential cross section has been measured for jet transverse energies, $E_T$, from 15 to 440 GeV, in the pseudorapidity region 0.1$\leq | η| \leq $0.7. The results are based on 19.5 pb$^{-1}$ of data collected by the CDF collaboration at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The data are compared with QCD predictions for various sets of parton distribution functions. The cross section for jets with $E_T>200$ GeV is significantly higher than current predictions based on O($α_s^3$) perturbative QCD calculations. Various possible explanations for the high-$E_T$ excess are discussed…
We report on a new measurement of the rapidity dependence of the inclusive jet production cross section in pbar p collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV using 92 pb^-1 of data collected by the DZero detector at the Tevatron collider. The differential cross sections, d^2sigma/(dEt deta), are presented as a function of jet transverse energy (Et) in five pseudorapidity (eta) intervals, up to |eta|=3, significantly extending previous CDF and DZero measurements beyond |eta|=0.7. The extended range of the measurement should provide greater discrimination among different parton distribution functions. We also…
We report on a measurement of the inclusive jet production cross section in pp-bar collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV using data collected with the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab in Run II (CDF II) corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 385 pb^-1. Jets are reconstructed using the kt algorithm. The measurement is carried out for jets with rapidity 0.1 < | yjet | < 0.7 and transverse momentum in the range 54 < ptjet < 700 GeV/c. The measured cross section is in good agreement with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD predictions after the necessary non-perturbative parton-to-hadron…
This thesis presents the evidence, at 3.08 sigma, for the associate production of massive vector bosons (W and Z) in a final state with one lepton, MET and HF-tagged jets, measured with the complete CDF II dataset (9.4fb^-1 of data). The signals, both inclusive diboson production and WW vs WZ/ZZ separately, were extracted from the invariant mass distribution, M_inv(jet1,jet2), of single and double HF-tagged jet pairs. For single-tagged events the b quark vs c quark discrimination was obtained by using a bi-dimensional distribution M_inv(jet1,jet2) vs a flavor-serapator NN. The results, consist…
We describe a search for anomalous production of events with two leptons ($e$ or $μ$) of the same electric charge in \ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. Many extensions to the standard model predict the production of two leptons of the same electric charge. This search has a significant increase in sensitivity compared to earlier searches. Using a data sample corresponding to 1 \invfb of integrated luminosity recorded by the CDF II detector, we observe no significant excess in an inclusive selection (expect $33.2\pm4.7$ events, observe 44) or in a SUSY-optimized selection…
We report the first measurements of inclusive W and Z cross sections times leptonic branching ratios for p-pbar collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV, based on their decays to electrons and muons. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 72 pb-1 recorded with the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We test e-mu universality in W decays, and we measure the ratio of leptonic W and Z rates from which the leptonic branching fraction $B(W\goto\ellν)$ can be extracted as well as an indirect value for the total width of the W and the CKM matrix element, Vcs.
We present a measurement of the isolated direct photon cross section in p-pbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV and |eta| < 0.9 using data collected between 1994 and 1995 by the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF). The measurement is based on events where the photon converts into an electron-positron pair in the material of the inner detector, resulting in a two-track event signature. To remove pi0 -> gamma gamma and eta -> gamma gamma events we use a new background subtraction technique which takes advantage of the tracking information available in a photon conversion event. We find that the s…

The differential cross section is presented as a function of the photon transverse energy in different regions of photon pseudorapidity. The differential cross section as a function of the absolute value of the photon pseudorapidity is also presented in different regions of photon transverse energy. Next-to-leading-order QCD calculations from JETPHOX and SHERPA as well as next-to-ne…
A measurement of the cross section for the production of isolated prompt photons in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt(s) = 7 TeV is presented. The results are based on an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb-1 collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The cross section is measured as a function of photon pseudorapidity and transverse energy in the kinematic range between 100 GeV and 1000 GeV and in the regions of pseudorapidity less than 1.37 and between 1.52 and 2.37. The results are compared to leading-order parton-shower Monte Carlo models and next-to-leading-order perturbative Q…
The top quark, discovered in 1995 by the CDF and D0 collaborations at the Tevatron proton antiproton collider at Fermilab, has undergone intense studies in the last 20 years. Currently, CDF and D0 converge on their measurements of top-antitop quark production cross sections using the full Tevatron data sample. In these proceedings, the latest results on inclusive and differential measurements of top-antitop quark production cross sections at the Tevatron are reported.
Recent results on the production of $W$ and $Z$ gauge bosons in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.8$~TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider from the \D0 and CDF experiments are reviewed. Measurements of the inclusive cross sections times leptonic branching ratios in both the electron and muon decay channels are summarized and compared to QCD predictions. Using the ratio $R = {σ_W \cdot B(W\rightarrow lν)}/ {σ_Z \cdot B(Z\rightarrow ll)}$ and assuming standard model couplings, an indirect determination of the W decay width is obtained. By comparing this measured value with the predicted value…
We present a measurement of the shapes of b-jets using 300 pb-1 of data obtained with the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF II) in p pbar collisions at center of mass energy sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. This measurement covers a wide transverse momentum range, from 52 to 300 GeV/c. Samples of heavy-flavor enhanced jets together with inclusive jets are used to extract the average shapes of b-jets. The b-jets are expected to be broader than inclusive jets. Moreover, b-jets containing a single b-quark are expected to be narrower than those containing a b bbar pair from gluon splitting. The measure…
We present a summary of the most recent measurements relevant to Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) delivered by the D0 and CDF Tevatron experiments by May 2008. CDF and D0 are moving toward precision measurements of QCD based on data samples in excess of 1 fb-1. The inclusive jet cross sections have been extended to forward rapidity regions and measured with unprecedented precision following improvements in the jet energy calibration. Results on dijet mass distributions, bbbar dijet production using tracker based triggers, underlying event in dijet and Drell-Yan samples, inclusive photon and diphot…
The ratio of the cross sections for inclusive isolated-photon production in $pp$ collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 13 and 8 TeV is measured using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The integrated luminosities of the 13 TeV and 8 TeV datasets are 3.2 fb$^{-1}$ and 20.2 fb$^{-1}$, respectively. The ratio is measured as a function of the photon transverse energy in different regions of the photon pseudorapidity. The predictions from next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculations are compared with the measured ratio. The experimental systematic uncertainties as well as the uncertainties af…
The CDF and D0 experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron have measured the asymmetry between yields of forward- and backward-produced top and antitop quarks based on their rapidity difference and the asymmetry between their decay leptons. These measurements use the full data sets collected in proton-antiproton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt s =1.96$ TeV. We report the results of combinations of the inclusive asymmetries and their differential dependencies on relevant kinematic quantities. The combined inclusive asymmetry is $A_{\mathrm{FB}}^{t\bar{t}} = 0.128 \pm 0.025$. The combin…
In this letter, we summarize the latest results of the top-quark production and properties at the Tevatron. We do not include results of the top-quark mass and single top-quark production as they were presented in separate talks. The results of the measurements are mostly consistent with the standard-model predictions. However, by looking at the production asymmetry measured by CDF, one can see a discrepancy in both, $t\bar{t}$ inclusive and lepton-based measurements. DØ results of production asymmetry are compatible with the standard-model predictions as well as with the CDF results.
Recent QCD related results from the CDF and the D0 experiments are presented based on proton anti-proton collision data at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV, taken in Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Measured observables include inclusive photon and diphoton production, vector boson plus jets production, event shape variables, and inclusive multijet production. The measurement results are compared to QCD theory calculations in different approximations. A determination of the strong coupling constant from jet data is presented.
We report on a search for inclusive production of squarks and gluinos in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV, in events with large missing transverse energy and multiple jets of hadrons in the final state. The study uses a CDF Run II data sample corresponding to 2 fb-1 of integrated luminosity. The data are in good agreement with the standard model predictions, giving no evidence for any squark or gluino component. In an R-parity conserving minimal supergravity scenario with A_0 = 0, mu < 0 and tanbeta = 5, 95% C.L. upper limits on the production cross sections in the range between 0.1 pb and…
The production cross section of inclusive isolated photons has been measured by the ALICE experiment at the CERN LHC in pp collisions at a centre-of-momentum energy of $\sqrt{s}=$ 7 TeV. The measurement is performed with the electromagnetic calorimeter EMCal and the central tracking detectors, covering a range of $|η|<0.27$ in pseudorapidity and a transverse momentum range of $ 10 < p_{\rm T}^γ < $ 60 GeV/$c$. The result extends the $p_{\rm T}$ coverage of previously published results of the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the same collision energy to smaller $p_{\rm T}$. The measurement is compa…
We report on a search for anomalous production of events with at least two charged, isolated, like-sign leptons with pT > 11 GeV/c using a 107 pb^-1 sample of 1.8 TeV ppbar collisions collected by the CDF detector. We define a signal region containing low background from Standard Model processes. To avoid bias, we fix the final cuts before examining the event yield in the signal region using control regions to test the Monte Carlo predictions. We observe no events in the signal region, consistent with an expectation of 0.63^(+0.84)_(-0.07) events. We present 95% confidence level limits on new …
Recent measurements in the top quark sector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider are discussed. Measurements at the Tevatron use up to 9.7/fb of data corresponding to the full data sets recorded by the CDF and D0 experiments, respectively. This review discusses the most recent measurements of inclusive and differential top quark cross sections in strong and electroweak production of top quarks and related measurements, as well as measurements of angular distributions related to asymmetries in top quark production. Furthermore the current status on the precision measurements of the mass of the top…
This paper presents a measurement of the underlying event activity in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, performed using inclusive Z boson production events collected with the CMS experiment at the LHC. The analyzed data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 2.1 fb$^{-1}$. The underlying event activity is quantified in terms of the charged particle multiplicity, as well as of the scalar sum of the charged particles' transverse momenta in different topological regions defined with respect to the Z boson direction. The distributions are unfolded to the stable part…
