The Nemo-3 Experiment and the Supernemo Project

The NEMO experiment is investigating the neutrinoless double beta decay. The NEMO-3 detector is taking data in the Frejus Underground Laboratory. The goal of the SuperNEMO detector is to reach a sensitivity on the order of 10^26 year on the half-life of the bb0nu process. The chosen isotopes for the future detector are 82Se and 150Nd, because of the reduced background. The collaboration has started a 3-year R&D development on all components : tracking detector, calorimeter, source enrichment and purification, radiopurity measurements.

Results of NEMO 3 and status of SuperNEMO

The NEMO 3 experiment is devoted to the search for neutrinoless double beta decay, as well as for accurate measurement of two-neutrino double beta decay. The detector has been taking data in the LSM laboratory since 2003 and the latest NEMO 3 results for seven double beta decay isotopes are presented here for both decay modes. The SuperNEMO project aims to extend the NEMO technique to a 100-200 kg isotope experiment with the target half-life sensitivity of 1-2 x 10^26 y. The current status of the SuperNEMO R&D programme is described.

NEMO-3 and SuperNEMO double beta decay experiments

Latest results on $ββ0 ν$, $ββ0 νχ^0$ and $ββ2 ν$ decays of different isotopes from NEMO-3 double beta decay experiment are presented. In particular, new limits on neurtinoless double beta decay of $^{100}Mo$ and $^{82}Se$ have been obtained, $T_{1/2} > 4.6\times 10^{23}$ y and $T_{1/2} > 1\times 10^{23}$ y, respectively. A possible next step with SuperNEMO detector is discussed.

Search for Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay with NEMO 3 and SuperNEMO

Since 2003 the NEMO~3 experiment has been searching for neutrinoless double beta decay using about 10 kg of enriched isotopes. A limit of T_(1/2)(0nu) > 5.8 10**23 years at 90 % CL has been obtained for 100-Mo from the first two years of data. Several measurements of two-neutrino double beta decays have also been performed. A first NEMO 3 measurement of the half-life of 130-Te is presented, giving a value of T_(1/2)(2nu) = (7.6 +- 1.5 (stat) +- 0.8 (syst)) 10**20 years. A Search for Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay: from NEMO-3 to SuperNEMO

The SuperNEMO project aims to search for neutrinoless double beta decay ($0νββ$) up to a sensitivity of 10$^{26}$ years for the $0νββ$ half-life (down to $\sim$ 50~meV in the effective Majorana neutrino mass), using $\sim$100 kg of source and a `tracko-calo' detector. The current status of the 2006--2010 R\&D programme is discussed here.

The observation of neutrino oscillations has proven that neutrinos have mass. This is direct evidence of physics beyond the Standard Model. SuperNEMO - the next generation double beta decay experiment

The SuperNEMO experiment is being designed to search for neutrinoless double beta decay to test if neutrinos are Majorana particles. The experimental technique follows that of the currently running NEMO-3 experiment, which successfully combines tracking and calorimetry to measure the topology and energy of the final state electrons. Spectral modeling of scintillator for the NEMO-3 and SuperNEMO detectors

We have constructed a GEANT4-based detailed software model of photon transport in plastic scintillator blocks and have used it to study the NEMO-3 and SuperNEMO calorimeters employed in experiments designed to search for neutrinoless double beta decay. We compare our simulations to measurements using conversion electrons from a calibration source of $\rm ^{207}Bi$ and show that the agreement is improved if wavelength-dependent properties of the calorimeter are taken into account. In this article, we briefly describe our modeling approach and results of our studies.

Calorimeter R&D for the SuperNEMO Double Beta Decay Experiment

Capabilities of an Underwater Detector as a Neutrino Telescope and for the Neutrino Oscillation Search

We report on the results of a Monte Carlo simulation study of a km^3 scale deep underwater Cherenkov detector aimed at detecting neutrinos of astrophysical origin.
