Baryons containing two heavy quarks are important and interesting systems to study the quark-diquark structure of baryons and to understand the dynamics of QCD at hadronic scale. The Selex Collaboration has recently reported the discovery of $Ξ_{cc}$ with a mass of 3.519 Ge$V$. However, other groups such as Babar, Belle and Focus have all failed to confirm this state. So there is a demand to review this state both theoretically and experimentally. We report here the spectra and magnetic moments of $ccq(q\in u,d,s)$ systems using coulomb plus Martin potential. Here the two heavy quarks are considered for the diquark states. The same potential form is used for the diquark interaction as well as for the quark-diquark interaction. The chromomagnetic one gluon exchange interaction are perturbatively treated here to get the masses of $J^P={1/2}^{+}$ and $J^P={3/2}^{+}$ states. Accordingly, we obtain $Ξ^{++}_{cc}$ (3519, 3555), $Ξ^{+}_{cc}$ (3527, 3562) and $Ω^{+}_{cc}$ (3648,3688) states of the $ccq$ $({1/2}^{+},{3/2}^{+})$ combinations. Our predictions are in accordance with the SELEX result for $Ξ^{++}_{cc}$ (3519) and other model predictions. Predictions of other properties of these $ccq$ systems will be presented in detail.
The yield of doubly charmed baryons with excited heavy diquark in $S$ wave and $P$ wave states has been estimated at LHC energies. The observation possibility of such baryons is discussed.
A diquark model is used to investigate single charmed baryons. In this model, baryon is composed of two diquarks and an antiquark. Masses of lowest lying states with $J^P= 1/2 ^ \pm$ are obtained. Some masses are smaller than other theoretic predictions which indicates that these baryons of pentaquark structure could be relatively stable. The results also show that $Λ(2882)$ may be a pentaquark with $J^P=1/2^-$ and $Ξ(3125)$ may be a pentaquark with $J^P=1/2^+$.
The finite size of doubly heavy diquark gives a positive correction to the masses of baryons calculated in the local diquark approximation. We evaluate this correction for the basic states of doubly charmed baryons to give quite accurate predictions actual for current searches of those baryons at LHCb: $m[{Ξ_{cc}^{1/2}}^{+}]\approx m[{Ξ_{cc}^{1/2}}^{++}]=3615\pm 55$ MeV and $m[{Ξ_{cc}^{3/2}}^{+}]\approx m[{Ξ_{cc}^{3/2}}^{++}]=3747\pm 55$ MeV.
The newly observed $Θ^+$ resonance is believed to be a pentaquark with the constituent quarks $uudd\bar s$. There are a few options for the constituent quark structure. Some advocate diquark-diquark-antiquark $(ud)$-$(ud)$-$\bar s$ while others favor diquark-triquark $(ud)$-$(ud\bar s)$. We use the color-spin hyperfine interaction to examine the energy levels of these structures, and we find that the diquark-diquark-antiquark structure is slight favored. We proceed to write down the flavor triplet and antisextet of the charmed or bottomed exotic baryons with internal $qqqq\bar Q$ quarks. We al…
We investigate the meson, baryon and anti-baryon productions in πp and Kp collisions in terms of a constituent cascade model which includes charm flavour. The constituent diquark in an incident baryon has a tendency to get a large momentum fraction, resulting in considerable difference of subenergies for particle productions from quark-diquark and quark-antiquark chains in a meson-baryon collision. As a consequence, the leading particle effects on D meson productions are expected to be quite different in π+ and π- beams at present accelerator energies.
In this article, we study the scalar-diquark-scalar-diquark-scalar-diquark type hexaquark state with the QCD sum rules by carrying out the operator product expansion up to the vacuum condensates of dimension 16. We obtain the lowest hexaquark mass $6.60^{+0.12}_{-0.09}\,\rm{GeV}$, which can be confronted to the experimental data in the future.
Charm spectroscopy has studied under a string model. Charmed baryons are composed of diquark and charm quark which are connected by a constant tension. In a diquark picture, the quantum numbers $J^P$ of confirmed baryons are well assigned. We give energy predictions for the first and second orbital excitations. We see some correspondences with the experimental data. Meanwhile, we have obtained diquark masses in the background of charm quark which satisfy a splitting relation based on spin-spin interaction.
In this article, we construct the charmed-diquark-charmed-diquark-charmed-diquark type current to study the axialvector triply-charmed hexaquark state with the QCD sum rules in details. In calculations, we take the energy scale formula $μ=\sqrt{M^2_{H}-(3{\mathbb{M}}_c)^2}$ to choose the pertinent energy scale of the QCD spectral density so as to enhance the pole contribution and improve the convergent behavior of the operator product expansion. If the spin-breaking effects are small for the triply-charmed hexaquark states, the ground state hexaquark states with $J^P=0^+$, $1^+$ and $2^+$ are …
We speculate on a possible interpretation of events selected by the SELEX collaboration and stress an insufficient evidence for the observation of doubly charmed baryon.
This paper studies the leading chiral corrections to heavy quark-diquark symmetry predictions for doubly heavy baryon semileptonic decay form factors. We derive the coupling between heavy diquarks and weak current in the limit of heavy quark-diquark symmetry, and construct the chiral Lagrangian for doubly heavy baryons coupled to weak current. We evaluate chiral corrections to doubly heavy baryon zero-recoil semileptonic decay for both unquenched and partially quenched QCD. This theory is used to derive chiral extrapolation expressions for measurements of form factors of doubly heavy baryon ze…
We study the spectra of the doubly charmed tetraquark states in a diquark-antidiquark model. The doubly charmed tetraquark states form an antitriplet and a sextet configurations according to flavor SU(3) symmetry. For the tetraquark state $[qq'][\bar c\bar c]$, we show the mass for both bound and excited states. The two-body decays of tetraquark states $T^{cc}[0^+]$ and $T^{cc}[1^{--}]$ to charmed mesons have also been studied. In the end,the doubly charmed tetraquarks decays to a charmed baryon and a light baryon have been studied in the SU(3) flavor symmetry.
Using the quark-diquark approximation in the framework of Buchm\" uller-Tye potential model, we investigate the spectroscopy of doubly charmed baryons: $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ and $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$. Our results include the masses, parameters of radial wave functions of states with the different excitations of both diquark and light quark-diquark system. We calculate the values of fine and hyperfine splittings of these levels and discuss some new features, connected to the identity of heavy quarks, in the dynamics of hadronic and radiative transitions between the states of these baryons.
The analysis of singly charmed hadrons has been extended to the case of doubly charmed baryons, $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$, $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$ and $Ω_{cc}^{+}$. Doubly charmed baryons are described as a system containing a heavy $cc$-diquark and a light quark, similarly as in a heavy-light meson. This leads to preasymptotic effects in semileptonic and nonleptonic decays which are essentially proportional to the meson wave function. Interplay between preasymptotic effects in semileptonic and/or nonleptonic decay rates leads to very clear predictions for semileptonic branching ratios and lifetimes of doubly charme…
In this article, we construct the scalar-diquark-scalar-diquark-antiquark type current to study the ground state triply charmed pentaquark states with the QCD sum rules. We separate the contributions of the negative-parity and positive parity triply charmed pentaquark states explicitly, and take the energy scale formula $μ=\sqrt{M^2_{P}-(3{\mathbb{M}}_c)^2}$ to determine the optimal energy scales of the QCD spectral densities. The predicted pentaquark masses can be confronted to the experimental data in the future.
We extend the analysis of weak decays of heavy hadrons to the case of doubly charmed baryons, Ξ_{cc}^{++}, Ξ_{cc}^{+} and Ω_{cc}^{+}. Doubly charmed baryons are modeled as a heavy-light system containing a heavy cc-diquark and a light quark. Such a model leads to preasymptotic effects in semileptonic and nonleptonic decays which are essentially proportional to the meson wave function. Very clear predictions for semileptonic branching ratios and lifetimes of doubly charmed baryons are obtained.
The high production rate and $\langle x_{F} \rangle > 0.33$ of the doubly charmed baryons measured by the SELEX experiment is not amenable to perturbative QCD analysis. In this paper we calculate the production of the doubly heavy baryons with the double intrinsic charm Fock states whose existence is rigorously predicted by QCD. The production rate and the longitudinal momentum distribution are both reproduced. We also show that the production rates of the doubly charmed baryons and double $J/ψ$ production observed by NA3 collaboration are comparable. Recent experimental results are reviewed. …
We propose to use the hadronic shape variables to test the assumption of ``local duality'' in the doubly-charmed B decays, $B\rightarrow X_{c\bar c s}$. We compute these shape variables at leading order in parton model, and discuss how they can be compared with the experimental values.
In this article, we construct the axialvector-diquark-axialvector-antidiquark type currents to interpolate the scalar, axialvector, vector, tensor doubly charmed tetraquark states, and study them with QCD sum rules systematically by carrying out the operator product expansion up to the vacuum condensates of dimension 10 in a consistent way, the predicted masses can be confronted to the experimental data in the future. We can search for those doubly charmed tetraquark states in the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka super-allowed strong decays to the charmed meson pairs.
Inspired by the observation of the doubly charmed tetraquark state $T_{cc}^+$ at the LHCb Collaboration, we systematically study the $S$-wave interactions between a pair of charmed mesons ($D_{1},\,D_{2}^{\ast}$) in the $T$-doublet, where we adopt the one-boson-exchange model and consider both the $S$-$D$ wave mixing and coupled channel effects. Our numerical results suggest that the prime doubly charmed molecular tetraquark candidates are the $S$-wave $D_1D_1$ state with $I(J^P)=0(1^+)$, the $S$-wave $D_1{D}_2^{\ast}$ states with $I(J^P)=0(1^+,\,2^+,\,3^+)$, and the $S$-wave ${D}_2^{\ast}{D}_…
We give heavy quark-diquark symmetry predictions for doubly heavy baryons and tetraquarks in light of the recent discovery of the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ by LHCb. For five excited doubly charm baryons that are predicted to lie below the $Λ_c D$ threshold, we give predictions for their electromagnetic and strong decays using a previously developed chiral Lagrangian with heavy quark-diquark symmetry. Based on the mass of the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$, the existence of a doubly heavy bottom $I=0$ tetraquark that is stable to the strong and electromagnetic decays has been predicted. If the mass of this state is below 1…
The LHCb experiment at CERN has discovered a doubly charmed isoscalar tetraquark $T_{cc}$ with the quantum numbers of $c c \bar u \bar d$ and mass of about 3875 MeV/$c^2$, decaying to $D^0 D^0 π^+$ through the intermediate channel $D^{*+} D^0$. We present a study of its strange companions with the quantum numbers of $c c \bar q \bar s$, where $q = u, d$ and isospin violation is neglected.
In the framework of quark-hadron duality, the cross section values of charmonium and doubly charmed baryon production in $e^+e^-$-annihilations have been estimated at interaction energy $\sqrt{s}=10.6$ GeV. It has been shown that the approach under discussion allows to resolve some contradictions between the experimental data and pQCD predictions.
The chiral effective meson-baryon Lagrangian for the description of interactions between the doubly charmed baryons and Goldstone bosons is constructed up to the order of $q^{4}$. The numbers of linearly independent invariant monomials of $\mathcal{O}(q^2)$, $\mathcal{O}(q^3)$ and $\mathcal{O}(q^4)$ are 8, 32 and 218, in order. The obtained Lagrangian can be used to study the chiral dynamics and relevant phenomenology of the doubly charmed baryons at complete one-loop level in future. For completeness, the non-relativistic reduction of the Lagrangian is also discussed.
We construct a chiral Lagrangian for doubly heavy baryons and heavy mesons that is invariant under heavy quark-diquark symmetry at leading order and includes the leading O(1/m_Q) symmetry violating operators. The theory is used to predict the electromagnetic decay width of the J=3/2 member of the ground state doubly heavy baryon doublet. Numerical estimates are provided for doubly charm baryons. We also calculate chiral corrections to doubly heavy baryon masses and strong decay widths of low lying excited doubly heavy baryons.
The feasibility of tetraquark detection is studied. For the cc\bar{u}\bar{d} tetraquark we show that in present (SELEX, Tevatron, RHIC) and future facilities (LHCb, ALICE) the production rate is promising and we propose some detectable decay channels.
The mass spectra and wave functions for the doubly heavy baryons are computed under the picture that the two heavy quarks inside a doubly heavy baryon, such as two $c$-quarks in $Ξ_{cc}$, combine into a heavy `diquark core' in color anti-triplet firstly, then the diquark core turns into a color-less doubly heavy baryon via combining the light $q$-quark inside the baryon. Namely both of the combinations, the two heavy quarks inside the baryon into a diquark core in color anti-triplet and the heavy diquark core with the light quark into the baryon, are depicted by relativistic Bethe-Salpeter equ…
The existence of doubly heavy flavor baryons has not been well established experimentally so far. In this Letter we systematically investigate the weak decays of the doubly charmed baryons, $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ and $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$, which would be helpful for experimental searches for these particles. The branching fractions are studied under the factorization hypothesis for the short-distance contributions and considering the rescattering effect for the long-distance contributions which are significantly enhanced. Comparing all the decay modes, we recommend the processes of $Ξ_{cc}^{++}\to Λ_c^+K^-π^+π^…
In the present work, we investigate the scalar, axialvector and tensor doubly-charmed tetraquark molecular states without strange, with strange and with doubly-strange via the QCD sum rules, and try to make assignment of the $T^+_{cc}$ from the LHCb collaboration in the scenario of molecular states. The predictions favor assigning the $T^+_{cc}$ to be the lighter $DD^{*}$ molecular state with the spin-parity $J^P=1^+$ and isospin $I=0$, while the heavier $DD^{*}$ molecular state with the spin-parity $J^P=1^+$ and isospin $I=1$ still escapes experimental detections, the observation of the heavi…
Cabibbo-favored nonleptonic charmed particle decays exhibit large final-state phase differences in $\bar K π$ and $\bar K^* π$ but not $\bar K ρ$ channels. It is of interest to know the corresponding pattern of final-state phases in doubly-Cabibbo-suppressed decays, governed by the $c \to d u \bar s$ subprocess. An experimental program is outlined for determining such phases via measurements of rates for $D \to K^* π$ and $K (ρ, ω,ϕ)$ channels, and determination of interference between bands in Dalitz plots. Such a program is feasible at planned high-intensity sources of charmed particles.
The perturbative QCD calculation of heavy quark fragmentation into a heavy meson is extended to predict fragmentation into heavy flavor baryons. This is accomplished by implementing the quark-diquark model of the baryons. Several diquark form factors are used to enable the integration over the virtual heavy quark momentum. The resulting spin independent functions for charmed quarks to fragment into charmed baryons with spin 1/2 and 3/2 are compared with recent data. Predictions are made for the spin dependent fragmentation functions as well, particularly for the functions $\hat{g}_1$ in the ca…
We prove a U-spin amplitude triangle relation among doubly Cabibbo-suppressed (DCS) charmed meson decays, $D^0\to K^+π^-, D^0 \to K^0π^0$ and $D^+_s \to K^0 K^+$, congruent to an isospin relation among corresponding Cabibbo-favored (CF) decays. U-spin breaking in relative phases between CF and DCS amplitudes affects time-dependent studies of $D^0-\od$ mixing. Comparison of final state phase patterns in DCS and CF amplitude triangles, which can shed some light on these phases, is carried out in a phenomenological framework incorporating resonance contributions.
The doubly charmed hadron production at B factories is of special importance for the study of the hadron structure and the color connections before hadronization. To suppress the combination background fluctuations of the reconstructed hadron mass spectra, we suggest a three-jet event shape trigger. After these three jets are identified by their energy and angular distributions, it is found that: 1) The background process $e^+ e^- \to c\bar {c} \to h's$ in consideration of the final hadron system $Λ_c^+K^-π^+ +X$ are significantly suppressed. 2) For the selected events, about half of the parti…
Semileptonic decays of doubly heavy baryons are studied in the framework of the relativistic quark model. The doubly heavy baryons are treated in the quark-diquark approximation. The transition amplitudes of heavy diquarks bb and bc going respectively to bc and cc are explicitly expressed through the overlap integrals of the diquark wave functions in the whole accessible kinematic range. The relativistic baryon wave functions of the quark-diquark bound system are used for the calculation of the transition matrix elements, the Isgur-Wise function and decay rates in the heavy quark limit.
In the heavy quark limit, properties of heavy mesons and doubly heavy baryons are related by heavy quark-diquark symmetry. This problem is reanalyzed in the framework of Non-Relativistic QCD (NRQCD). We introduce a novel method for deriving Potential NRQCD (pNRQCD) Lagrangians for composite fields from vNRQCD, which contains quarks and antiquarks as explicit degrees of freedom and maintains manifest power counting in the velocity via a label formalism. A Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation is used to eliminate four quark interactions in vNRQCD and then quarks and antiquarks are integrated out …
Several observed states close to the $D\bar{D}^*$ and $D^*_{(s)}\bar{D}^*_{(s)}$ thresholds, as the X(3872) and some XYZ particles can be described in terms of a two-meson molecule. Furthermore, doubly charmed states are also predicted. These new states are near the $D^*D^*$ and $D^*D^*_s$ thresholds, % Therefore, if the previous XYZ are molecules, then, there should be doubly charmed mesons with $J^P=1^+$ around the $D^*D^*$ threshold. %For this reason, it is important to evaluate observables related to them. Because of the spin$=1$, they do not decay into $DD$. In this article we compute dec…
A diquark model previously formulated to describe exotic mesons is extended to dibaryons. In the model, dibaryons containing only light quarks are unbound. The $H$ dibaryon, consisting of $uuddss$ quarks, is unstable by about 90 MeV or more, and should decay strongly into two $Λ$ baryons. A charmed dibaryon $H_c$, composed of $uuddsc$, is unstable by about 60 MeV or more and should decay strongly into $Λ+ Λ_c$. On the other hand, we find that a bottom dibaryon $H_b$, made of $uuddsb$, may be just bound by about 10 MeV with respect to $Λ+ Λ_b$. If so, it should decay weakly into various final s…
The three pentaquark states, $P_c(4312)$, $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$, discovered by the LHCb Collaboration in 2019, can be arranged into a complete heavy quark spin symmetry multiplet of hadronic molecules of $\bar{D}^{(\ast)}Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$. In the heavy quark mass limit, the $Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$ baryons can be related to the doubly charmed tetraquark states of isospin 1, i.e., $T_{\bar{c}\bar{c}}^{(\ast)}$( $T_{\bar{c}\bar{c}}^{0}$, $T_{\bar{c}\bar{c}}^{1}$, $T_{\bar{c}\bar{c}}^{2}$), via heavy antiquark diquark symmetry, which dictates that the $\bar{D}^{(\ast)}Σ_{c}^{(\ast)}$ interactions are…
The doubly charmed baryon $Ξ^{++}_{cc}$ was observed by LHCb cooperation in 2017. The branching fractions of two-body doubly charmed baryon decays were predicted in the framework of rescattering mechanism, and some $SU(3)_F$ relations were investigated in the topological amplitudes. In this work, we study the correlation between topological diagram at quark level and rescattering triangle diagram at hadron level in the doubly charmed baryon decay. The completeness of our framework is confirmed from the fact that all the twelve possible structures of meson-baryon scattering appear once each in …
We have systematically studied the strong and radiative decays of the low-lying $1P$-wave doubly charmed baryons. Some interesting observations are: (i) The states $Ξ_{cc}^*$ and $Ω_{cc}^*$ with $J^P=3/2^+$ have a fairly large decay rate into the $Ξ_{cc}γ$ and $Ω_{cc}γ$ channels with a width $\sim 15$ and $\sim7$ keV, respectively. (ii) The lowest lying excited doubly charmed baryons are dominated by the $1P$ $ρ$ mode excitations, which should be quite narrow states. They decay into the ground state with $J^P=1/2^+$ through the radiative transitions with a significant ratio. (iii) The total de…
A perturbative QCD calculation of heavy flavor quark fragmentation into heavy flavor baryons is developed along the lines of corresponding heavy meson models. The non-perturbative formation of the baryon is accomplished by implementing the quark-diquark model of the baryons. Diquark color form factors are used to enable the integration over the virtual heavy quark momentum. The resulting spin independent functions for charmed and bottom quarks to fragment into charmed and bottom baryons with spin 1/2 and 3/2 are compared with recent data. Predictions are made for the spin dependent fragmentati…
The production of baryons containing two charmed quarks Xi_cc in hadronic interactions at high energies and large transverse momenta is considered. It is supposed, that Xi_cc-baryon is formed during a non-perturbative fragmentation of the (cc)-diquark, which was produced in the hard process of $c$-quark scattering from the colliding protons: c+c -> (cc) +g. It is shown that such mechanism enhances the expected doubly charmed baryon production cross section on Tevatron and LHC colliders approximately 2 times in contrast to predictions, obtained in the model of gluon - gluon production of (cc)-d…
Some features and predictions of a recently proposed model based on diquark-antidiquark bound states are illustrated. Its ability in accomodating newly discovered charmed resonances around 4 GeV is discussed.
We provide comprehensive investigations for the mass spectrum of exotic open-flavor charmed/bottom $sq\bar q\bar c$, $qq\bar q\bar c$, $sq\bar q\bar b$, $qq\bar q\bar b$ tetraquark states with various spin-parity assignments $J^P=0^+, 1^+, 2^+$ and $0^-, 1^-$ in the framework of QCD sum rules. In the diquark configuration, we construct the diquark-antidiquark interpolating tetraquark currents using the color-antisymmetric scalar and axial-vector diquark fields. The stable mass sum rules are established in reasonable parameter working ranges, which are used to give reliable mass predictions for…
We have performed a detailed investigation of total lifetimes for the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ and $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$ baryons in the framework of operator product expansion over the inverse mass of charmed quark, whereas, to estimate matrix elements of operators obtained in OPE, some approximations of nonrelativistic QCD are used. This approach allows one to take into account the corrections to the spectator decays of $c$-quarks, which reflect the fact, that these quarks are bound, as well as the contributions, connected to the effects of both the Pauli interference for the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$-baryon and the weak sc…
In this work, we evaluate the lifetimes of the doubly charmed baryons $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$, $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ and $Ω_{cc}^{+}$. We carefully calculate the non-spectator contributions at the quark level where the Cabibbo-suppressed diagrams are also included. The hadronic matrix elements are evaluated in the simple non-relativistic harmonic oscillator model. Our numerical results are generally consistent with that obtained by other authors who used the diquark model. However, all the theoretical predictions on the lifetimes are one order larger than the upper limit set by the recent SELEX measurement. This…
The cross-section for the double charmed baryon production at a $B$-factory is estimated on the basis of the perturbative QCD calculations for the $c c$-diquark production as well as of the quark-hadron duality.
In the leading order of perturbative QCD one calculates the total and differential cross-sections for the hadronic production of doubly charmed baryons $Ξ_{cc}$ and $Ξ_{cc}^*$ in different experiments. The experimental evaluation of cross-sections for the $J/Ψ+D + \bar D$ production would allow one to decrease the uncertainty in the determination of cross-sections for the doubly charmed baryons due to the choice of $α_s$ and $m_c$. One shows that in the HERA-B and E781 experiments with fixed tagets the suppression of the $Ξ_{cc}$ and $Ξ_{cc}^*$ production to the yield of $c \bar c$-pairs is th…
Possible experimental searches of doubly charmed baryons and tetraquarks at fixed target experiments with high energy hadron beams and a high intensity spectrometer are considered here. The baryons considered are: $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$ (ccd), $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ (ccu), and $Ω_{cc}^{+}$ (ccs); and the tetraquark is T ($cc\bar{u}\bar{d}$). Estimates are given of masses, lifetimes, internal structure, production cross sections, decay modes, branching ratios, and yields. Experimental requirements are given for optimizing the signal and minimizing the backgrounds. This paper is designed as an experimental and the…
