For many quantum models an apparent non-Hermiticity of observables corresponds to their hidden Hermiticity in another, physical Hilbert space. For these models we show that the existence of observables which are manifestly time-dependent may require the use of a manifestly time-dependent representation of the physical Hilbert space of states.
The one-dimensional real line of coordinates is replaced, for simplification or approximation purposes, by an N-plet of the so called Gauss-Hermite grid points. These grid points are interpreted as the eigenvalues of a tridiagonal matrix $\mathfrak{q}_0$ which proves rather complicated. Via the "zeroth" Dyson-map $Ω_0$ the "operator of position" $\mathfrak{q}_0$ is then further simplified into an isospectral matrix $Q_0$ which is found optimal for the purpose. As long as the latter matrix appears non-Hermitian it is not an observable in the manifestly "false" Hilbert space ${\cal H}^{(F)}:=\ma…
A new version of an elementary PT-symmetric square well quantum model is proposed in which a certain Hermiticity-violating end-point interaction leaves the spectrum real in a large domain of couplings $λ\in (-1,1)$. Within this interval we employ the usual coupling-independent operator P of parity and construct, in a systematic Runge-Kutta discrete approximation, a coupling-dependent operator of charge C which enables us to classify our P-asymmetric model as CPT-symmetric or, equivalently, hiddenly Hermitian alias cryptohermitian.
In paper [Znojil M., Phys. Rev. D 78 (2008), 085003, 5 pages, arXiv:0809.2874] the two-Hilbert-space (2HS, a.k.a. cryptohermitian) formulation of Quantum Mechanics has been revisited. In the present continuation of this study (with the spaces in question denoted as ${\cal H}^{\rm (auxiliary)}$ and ${\cal H}^{\rm (standard)}$) we spot a weak point of the 2HS formalism which lies in the double role played by ${\cal H}^{\rm (auxiliary)}$. As long as this confluence of roles may (and did!) lead to confusion in the literature, we propose an amended, three-Hilbert-space (3HS) reformulation of the sa…
We provide further non-trivial solutions to the recently proposed time-dependent Dyson and quasi-Hermiticity relation. Here we solve them for the generalized version of the non-Hermitian Swanson Hamiltonian with time-dependent coefficients. We construct time-dependent solutions by employing the Lewis-Riesenfeld method of invariants and discuss concrete physical applications of our results.
We propose an approximate solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation using the method of stationary states combined with a variational matrix method for finding the energies and eigenstates. We illustrate the effectiveness of the method by applying it to the time development of the wave-function in the quantum-mechanical version of the inflationary slow-roll transition.
The relativistic Klein-Gordon system is studied as an illustration of Quantum Mechanics using non-Hermitian operators as observables. A version of the model is considered containing a generic coordinate- and energy-dependent phenomenological mass-term $m^2(E,x)$. We show how similar systems may be assigned a pair of the linear, energy-independent left- and right-acting Hamiltonians with quasi-Hermiticity property and, hence, with the standard probabilistic interpretation.
The solution of the Feinberg-Horodecki (FH) equation for a time-dependent mass (TDM) harmonic oscillator quantum system is studied. A certain interaction is applied to a mass to provide a particular spectrum of stationary energies. The related spectrum of the harmonic oscillator potential acting on the TDM oscillators is found. We apply the time version of the asymptotic iteration method (AIM) to calculate analytical expressions of the TDM stationary state energies and their wave functions. It is shown that the obtained solutions reduce to those of simple harmonic oscillator as the time-depend…
A continuous, analog version of the Grover algorithm is realized using NMR. The system studied is 23Na in a liquid crystal medium. The presence of quadrupolar coupling makes the spin I=3/2 nucleus a 2-qubit system. Applying a specially designed pulse sequence, the time evolution of the spin density operator is described in an interaction representation which has no external time-dependent radio-frequency fields. This approach is used to implement one instance of the continuous Grover search for the transform of a uniform state to a target state, and the implementation provides a clear physical…
In the context of quantum information theory, "quantization" of various mathematical and computational constructions is said to occur upon the replacement, at various points in the construction, of the classical randomization notion of probability distribution with higher order randomization notions from quantum mechanics such as quantum superposition with measurement. For this to be done "properly", a faithful copy of the original construction is required to exist within the new "quantum" one, just as is required when a function is extended to a larger domain. Here procedures for extending hi…
In this paper we present new versions of previously published numerical programs for solving the dipolar Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equation including the contact interaction in two and three spatial dimensions in imaginary and in real time, yielding both stationary and non-stationary solutions. New versions of programs were developed using CUDA toolkit and can make use of Nvidia GPU devices. The algorithm used is the same split-step semi-implicit Crank-Nicolson method as in the previous version (R. Kishor Kumar et al., Comput. Phys. Commun. 195, 117 (2015)), which is here implemented as a series o…
We consider two one dimensional nonlinear oscillators, namely (i) Higgs oscillator and (ii) a $k$-dependent nonpolynomial rational potential, where $k$ is the constant curvature of a Riemannian manifold. Both the systems are of position dependent mass form, ${\displaystyle m(x) = \frac{1}{(1 + k x^2)^2}}$, belonging to the quadratic Li$\acute{e}$nard type nonlinear oscillators. They admit different kinds of motions at the classical level. While solving the quantum versions of the systems, we consider a generalized position dependent mass Hamiltonian in which the ordering parameters of the mass…
The exact propagators of two one-dimensional systems with time-dependent external fields are presented by following the path-integral method. It is shown that the Bloch acceleration theorem can be generalized to the impulse-momentum theorem in quantum version. We demonstrate that an evolved Gaussian wave packet always keeps its shape in an arbitrary time-dependent homogeneous driven field. Moreover, that stopping and accelerating of a wave packet can be achieved by the pulsed field in a diabatic way.
Time-dependent nonequilibrium Green's functions (TDNEGF) are shown to provide a flexible, effective tool for the description of quantum mechanical single particle scattering on a spatially localized, time-dependent potential. Focusing on numerical methods, arbitrary space and time dependence of the potential can be treated, provided it is zero before an initial time instant. In this case, appropriate version of the Dyson and Keldysh equations lead to a transparent description with clear physical interpretation. The interaction of a short laser pulse and an electron propagating initially in fre…
We investigate a quantum mechanical system on a noncommutative space for which the structure constant is explicitly time-dependent. Any autonomous Hamiltonian on such a space acquires a time-dependent form in terms of the conventional canonical variables. We employ the Lewis-Riesenfeld method of invariants to construct explicit analytical solutions for the corresponding time-dependent Schroedinger equation. The eigenfunctions are expressed in terms of the solutions of variants of the nonlinear Ermakov-Pinney equation and discussed in detail for various types of background fields. We utilize th…
We present new version of previously published Fortran and C programs for solving the Gross-Pitaevskii equation for a Bose-Einstein condensate with contact interaction in one, two and three spatial dimensions in imaginary and real time, yielding both stationary and non-stationary solutions. To reduce the execution time on multicore processors, new versions of parallelized programs are developed using Open Multi-Processing (OpenMP) interface. The input in the previous versions of programs was the mathematical quantity nonlinearity for dimensionless form of Gross-Pitaevskii equation, whereas in …
We introduce generalized versions of complex Scarf and Morse-type potentials that con- tain energy-dependent parameters. PT -symmetry and pseudo-hermiticity of the associated quantum systems are discussed, and a modified orthogonality relation and pseudo-norm are constructed. We show that despite energy-dependence, our systems can admit real energy spectra and normalizable solutions of bound-state type.
Open-print version of dissertation thesis. This thesis focuses on the relation between the diproton correlation and the two-proton emission with quantum entanglement. For this purpose, I developed a time-dependent three-body (proton-proton-core) model, where one Cooper pair of protons move inside the mean-field potential. The time-dependent calculation based on the three-body model provides an intuitive way to describe the quantum dynamics of the entangled fermionic pair. It has been shown that, by considering the Cooper-pairing correlation in the initial state of the two protons, (i) the expe…
We present the quantum and classical mechanics formalisms for a particle with position-dependent mass in the context of a deformed algebraic structure (named $κ$-algebra), motivated by the Kappa-statistics. From this structure we obtain deformed versions of the position and momentum operators, which allow to define a point canonical transformation that maps a particle with constant mass in a deformed space into a particle with position-dependent mass in the standard space. We illustrate the formalism with a particle confined in an infinite potential well and the Mathews-Lakshmanan oscillator, …
We investigate properties of generalized time-dependent q-deformed coherent states for a noncommutative harmonic oscillator. The states are shown to satisfy a generalized version of Heisenberg's uncertainty relations. For the initial value in time the states are demonstrated to be squeezed, i.e. the inequalities are saturated, whereas when time evolves the uncertainty product oscillates away from this value albeit still respecting the relations. For the canonical variables on a noncommutative space we verify explicitly that Ehrenfest's theorem hold at all times. We conjecture that the model ex…
