Superfluid Fermi liquid in a unitary regime

Determination of the Superfluid Gap in Atomic Fermi Gases by Quasiparticle Spectroscopy

We present majority and minority radiofrequency (RF) spectra of strongly interacting imbalanced Fermi gases of Li-6. We observed a smooth evolution in the nature of pairing correlations from pairing in the superfluid region to polaron binding in the highly polarized normal region. The imbalance induces quasiparticles in the superfluid region even at very low temperature. This leads to a local bimodal spectral response, which allows us to determine the superfluid gap Δand the Hartree energy U.

Stability of superfluid Fermi gases in optical lattices

Critical velocities of superfluid Fermi gases in optical lattices are theoretically investigated across the BCS-BEC crossover. We calculate the excitation spectra in the presence of a superfluid flow in one- and two-dimensional optical lattices. It is found that the spectrum of low-lying Anderson-Bogoliubov (AB) mode exhibits a roton-like structure in the short-wavelength region due to the strong charge density wave fluctuations, and with increasing the superfluid velocity one of the roton-like minima reaches zero before the single-particle spectrum does. We discuss the zero-temperature hydrodynamics equations of bosonic and fermionic superfluids and their connection with generalized Gross-Pitaevskii and Ginzburg-Landau equations through a single superfluid nonlinear Schrodinger equation.

Shear Viscosity in the Strong Interaction Regime of a p-wave Superfluid Fermi Gas

The $p$-wave superfluid state is a promising spin-triplet and non $s$-wave pairing state in an ultracold Fermi gas. In this work we study the low-temperature shear viscosity of a one-component $p$-wave superfluid Fermi gas, by means of Kubo formalism. Our study is done in the strong-coupling limit where Fermi superfluid reduces into a system of composite bosons. Asymmetric Fermi superfluid with different atomic species in a harmonic trap

We study the dilute fermion gas with pairing between two species and unequal concentrations in a harmonic trap using the mean field theory and the local density approximation. We found that the system can exhibit a superfluid shell structure sandwiched by the normal fermions. This superfluid shell structure occurs if the mass ratio is larger then certain critical value which increases from the weak-coupling BCS region to the strong-coupling BEC side. Superfluid and insulating phases of fermion mixtures in optical lattices

The ground state phase diagram of fermion mixtures in optical lattices is analyzed as a function of interaction strength, fermion filling factor and tunneling parameters. Bulk viscosities for cold Fermi superfluids close to the unitary limit

We compute the coefficients of bulk viscosity for a non-relativistic superfluid corresponding to a fermionic system close to the unitarity limit. We consider the low temperature regime assuming that the transport properties of the system are dominated by phonons. To compute the coefficients of bulk viscosity we use kinetic theory in the relaxation time approximation and the low energy effective field theory of the corresponding system. Trapped Resonant Fermions above Superfluid Transition Temperature

We investigate trapped resonant fermions with unequal populations within the local density approximation above the superfluid transition temperature. By tuning the attractive interaction between fermions via Feshbach resonance, the system evolves from weakly interacting fermi gas to strongly interacting fermi gas, and finally becomes bose-fermi mixture. The density profiles of fermions are examined and compared with experiments. We also point out the simple relationships between the local density, the axial density, and the gas pressure within the local density approximation.

Interior gap superfluidity in a two-component Fermi gas of atoms

A new superfluid phase in Fermi matter, termed as "interior gap" (IG) or "breached pair", has been recently predicted by Liu and Wilczek [Phys.Rev.Lett. {\bf 90}, 047002 (2003)]. This results from pairing between fermions of two species having essentially different Fermi surfaces. Using a nonperturbative variational approach, we analyze the features, such as energy gap, momentum distributions, and elementary excitations associated with the predicted phase. We discuss possible realization of this phase in two-component Fermi gases in an optical trap.
