The phase diagram of the attractive Hubbard model with spatially inhomogeneous interactions is obtained using a single site dynamical mean field theory like approach. The model is characterized by three parameters: the interaction strength, the active fraction (fraction of sites with the attractive interaction), and electron filling. The calculations indicate that in a parameter regime with intermediate values of interaction strength (compared to the bare bandwidth of the electrons), and intermediate values of the active fraction, "non-BCS" superconductivity is obtained. The results of this work are likely to be relevant to many systems with spatially inhomogeneous superconductivity such as strongly correlated oxides, systems with negative U centers, and, in future, cold atom optical lattices.
Extending the U(1) slave-rotor representation\cite{FG_SRR} of the repulsive Hubbard model, we propose an SU(2) slave-rotor decomposition for the attractive Hubbard model, where the SU(2) slave-rotor variables represent order parameter fluctuations associated with superconductivity and charge density wave. This decomposition method allows us to modify the standard Hartree-Fock mean field theory by incorporating order parameter fluctuations on an equal footing. Deriving an effective SU(2) slave-rotor action from the attractive Hubbard model, and analyzing it at the mean field level, we demonstra…
We study the percolative superconducting transition as the density of randomly placed attractive centers grows in a host metal. Employing the Hubbard-Stratanovich transformation for the interaction and allowing for spatial, thermal fluctuations of the pairing field, we obtain real-space features of the transition from weak to strong coupling. Spectral and transport properties are studied in detail. BCS-BEC crossover is discussed in the context of site dilution of attractive centers.
Using the negative U Hubbard model we analyze normal state properties of a superconductor. In this model there exists a characteristic pairing temperature T_P above a superconducting critical temperature. Below T_P electrons start to form incoherent pairs. The fluctuations in charge and phase are precursors of charge density wave and superconductivity phases depending on band filling. They lead naturally to pseudogap opening in the density of states.
Experiments on polarized fermion gases performed by trapping ultracold atoms in optical lattices, allow the study of an attractive Hubbard model for which the strength of the on site interaction is tuned by means of a Feshbach resonance. Using a well-known particle-hole transformation we discuss how results obtained for this system can be reinterpreted in the context of a doped repulsive Hubbard model. In particular we show that the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) state corresponds to the striped state of the two-dimensional doped positive U Hubbard model. We then use the results of nu…
The superfluid properties of the attractive Hubbard model in a Zeeman magnetic field, and in the weak coupling regime have been investigated. The temperature and magnetic field dependencies of the order parameter have been analyzed. Furthermore, the temperature vs. magnetic field and temperature vs. spin polarization phase diagrams for the 2D and 3D lattices have been obtained. For some parameters a reentrant transition has been found.
We have applied the Fast Fourier transform (FFT), which allows to compute efficiently convolution sums, to solve the set of self-consistent T-matrix equations to get the Green function of the two dimensional attractive-U Hubbard modelbelow $T_c$, extending previous calculations of the same authors. Using a constant order parameter $Δ(T)$, we calculated $T_c$ as a function of electron density and interaction strength $U$. These global results deviate from the BCS behavior remarkably.
We propose a fully microscopic theory of the anomalous normal state of the attractive Hubbard model in the low-density limit that accounts for propagator renormalization. Our analytical conclusions, which focus on the thermodynamic instabilities contained in the self-consistent equations associated with our formulation, have been verified by our comprehensive numerical study of the same equations. The resulting theory is found to contain no transitions at non-zero temperatures for all finite lattices, and we have confirmed, using our numerical studies, that this behaviour persists in the therm…
The influence of a Zeeman magnetic field on the superconducting characteristics of the attractive Hubbard model was investigated. The ground state and temperature phase diagrams were obtained for a fixed number of particles. Two critical magnetic fields were found for the first order phase transition from the superconducting to the normal state for $n\neq 1$. For some range of parameters a reentrant transition was found and gapless superconductivity was obtained. The significance of the Hartree term was also analyzed.
We consider the extended Hubbard model with attractive on-site interaction U and nearest-neighbor repulsions V. We construct an effective Hamiltonian H_{eff} for hopping t<<V and arbitrary U<0. Retaining the most important terms, H_{eff} can be mapped onto two XXZ models, solved by the Bethe ansatz. The quantum phase diagram shows two Luttinger liquid phases and a region of phase separation between them. For density n<0.422 and U<-4, singlet superconducting correlations dominate at large distances. For some parameters, the results are in qualitative agreement with experiments in BaKBiO.
We have made a variational analysis on an evolution of superconductivity from weak to strong coupling regime. In contrast to a crossover without thermodynamic anomaly found in a dilute system, we show the existence of a quantum phase transition near half filling. The transition is driven by charge density waves instabilities. We have found that superconductivity and charge density waves coexist in the presence of a weak intersite repulsion. The ground state phase diagram is determined and the quantum phase transition is an attractive version of the Mott transition.
We present a controlled perturbative approach to the low temperature phase diagram of highly inhomogeneous Hubbard models in the limit of small coupling, $t'$, between clusters. We apply this to the dimerized and checkerboard models. The dimerized model is found to behave like a doped semiconductor, with a Fermi-liquid groundstate with parameters ({\it e.g.} the effective mass) which are smooth functions of the Hubbard interaction, $U$. By contrast, the checkerboard model has a nodeless d-wave superconducting state (preformed pair condensate, $d$-BEC) for $0 < U < U_c$, which smoothly crosses …
This short paper summarizes a calculational method for obtaining the dynamical properties of many-body theories formulated in terms of (unrenormalized) bare propagators (and more generally, in terms of meromorphic functions, or convolutions over meromorphic functions) to a very high accuracy. We demonstrate the method by applying it to a T-matrix theory of the attractive Hubbard model in two dimensions. We expand the pair propagator using a partial fraction decomposition, and then solve for the residues and pole locations of such a decomposition using a computer algebra system to an arbitraril…
The critical temperature for the attractive Hubbard model on a square lattice is determined from the analysis of two independent quantities, the helicity modulus, $ρ_s$, and the pairing correlation function, $P_s$. These quantities have been calculated through Quantum Monte Carlo simulations for lattices up to $18\times 18$, and for several densities, in the intermediate-coupling regime. Imposing the universal-jump condition for an accurately calculated $ρ_s$, together with thorough finite-size scaling analyses (in the spirit of the phenomenological renormalization group) of $P_s$, suggests th…
The attractive Hubbard model on a 2-D square lattice is studied at low electronic densities using the ladder approximation for the pair susceptibility. This model includes (i) the short coherence lengths known to exist experimentally in the cuprate superconductors, and (ii) two-particle bound states that correspond to electron pairs. We study the quasiparticle lifetimes in both non self-consistent and self-consistent theories, the latter including interactions between the pairs. We find that if we include the interactions between pairs the quasiparticle lifetimes vary approximately linearly wi…
We apply a wilsonian renormalization group approach to the continuum limit of the attractive $t-t'$ Hubbard model, taken when the Fermi level is at the Van Hove singularity of the density of states. The model has well-defined scaling properties and the effective couplings display an unbounded flow in the infrared. We determine the leading instabilities by computing the different response functions up to $t' = 0.5 t$. The phase diagram shows a large boundary between superconducting and charge-density-wave phases, that merge in a triple point with a phase separation instability. The latter is re…
A Dynamical Mean Field Theory analysis of the attractive Hubbard model is carried out. We focus on the normal state upon restricting to solutions where superconducting order is not allowed. Nevertheless a clear first-order pairing transition as a function of the coupling takes place at all the electron densities out of half-filling. The transition occurs between a Fermi liquid, stable for $U < U_c$, and an insulating bound pairs phase for $U > U_c$. The spectral function in the Fermi liquid phase is constituted by a low energy structure around the Fermi level (similar to the Kondo resonance of…
It is shown that in the two-dimensional attractive Hubbard model, the mean-field phase transition is replaced by a renormalized classical regime of fluctuations where a pseudogap opens up in the single-particle spectral weight. It is argued that this pseudogap and precursors of the ordered state quasiparticles can occur only in strongly anisotropic quasi two-dimensional materials. This precursor phenomenon differs from preformed local pairs. Furthermore, while critical antiferromagnetic fluctuations would also lead to a pseudogap in the repulsive model, there are some important differences bet…
We investigate the one-dimensional Hubbard ring with attractive interaction in the presence of imbalanced spin populations by using the exact diagonalization method. The singlet pairing correlation function is found to show spatial oscillations with power-law decay as expected in the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov state of a Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid. In the strong coupling regime, the system shows an anomalous flux quantization of period h=4e, half of the superconducting flux quantum of h=2e, as recently predicted by mean-field analysis, together with various flux quanta smaller than h=4e. …
The BCS-BEC crossover within the two-dimensional attractive Hubbard model is studied by using the Cellular Dynamical Mean-Field Theory both in the normal and superconducting ground states. Short-range spatial correlations incorporated in this theory remove the normal-state quasiparticle peak and the first-order transition found in the Dynamical Mean-Field Theory, rendering the normal state crossover smooth. For $U$ smaller than the bandwidth, pairing is driven by the potential energy, while in the opposite case it is driven by the kinetic energy, resembling a recent optical conductivity experi…
Deviations from Fermi liquid behavior are well documented in the normal state of the cuprate superconductors, and some of these differences are possibly related to pre-formed pairs appearing at temperatures above T_c. In order to test these ideas we have investigated the attractive Hubbard model within a self-consistent, conserving ladder approximation. In this version of the theory, no feature is present which can be related to the pseudo gap found in the high-T_c materials. Further, the interactions between two-particle bound states change the physics of the superconducting instability in a …
A non-perturbative approach to the single-band attractive Hubbard model is presented in the general context of functional derivative approaches to many-body theories. As in previous work on the repulsive model, the first step is based on a local-field type ansatz, on enforcement of the Pauli principle and a number of crucial sum-rules. The Mermin-Wagner theorem in two dimensions is automatically satisfied. At this level, two-particle self-consistency has been achieved. In the second step of the approximation, an improved expression for the self-energy is obtained by using the results of the fi…
We study a two-component Fermi system with attractive interactions and different populations of the two species in a cubic lattice. For an intermediate coupling we find a uniformly polarized superfluid which is stable down to very low temperatures. The momentum distribution of this phase closely resembles that of the Sarma phase, characterized by two Fermi surfaces. This phase is shown to be stabilized by a potential energy gain, as in a BCS superfluid, in contrast to the unpolarized BEC which is stabilized by kinetic energy. We present general arguments suggesting that preformed pairs in the …
We present a framework of semiclassical superconductivity (SC) dynamics that properly includes effects of spatial fluctuations for the attractive Hubbard model. We consider both coherent and adiabatic limits. To model the coherent SC dynamics, we develop a real-space von~Neumann equation based on the time-dependent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory. Applying our method to interaction quenches in the negative-$U$ Hubbard model, we show that the relaxation of SC order at weak coupling is dominated by Landau-damping. At strong coupling, we find a two-stage relaxation of the pairing field: a collapse…
The specific heat of an attractive (interaction $G<0$) non-local Hubbard model is investigated. We use a two-pole approximation which leads to a set of correlation functions. In particular, the correlation function $\ <\vec{S}_i\cdot\vec{S}_j\ >$ plays an important role as a source of anomalies in the normal state of the model. Our results show that for a giving range of $G$ and $δ$ where $δ=1-n_T$ ($n_T=n_{\uparrow}+n_{\downarrow}$), the specific heat as a function of the temperature presents a two peak structure. Nevertehelesss, the presence of a pseudogap on the anti-nodal points $(0,\pmπ)$…
A self-consistent set of equations for the one-electron self-energy in the ladder approximation is derived for the attractive Hubbard model in the superconducting state. The equations provide an extension of a T-matrix formalism recently used to study the effect of electron correlations on normal-state properties. An approximation to the set of equations is solved numerically in the intermediate coupling regime, and the one-particle spectral functions are found to have four peaks. This feature is traced back to a peak in the self-energy, which is related to the formation of real-space bound st…
BCS theory accounts for the pairing instability in the weak coupling limit, but fails to describe pairing fluctuations above $T_c$. One possibility for describing these fluctuations in the dilute limit is the T-matrix approximation. We critically examine various degrees of self-consistency in the T-matrix formalism, along with a non-diagrammatic two-particle self-consistent (TPSC) formulation, in the strong coupling regime, where an exact solution is readily available. We find that one particular degree of self-consistency is quite accurate, particularly at low temperature as evidenced by exam…
We use microscopic Bogoliubov-de Gennes formalism to explore the ground-state phase diagram of the single-band attractive Hofstadter-Hubbard model on a square lattice. We show that the interplay between the Hofstadter butterfly and superfluidity breaks spatial symmetry, and gives rise to stripe-ordered superfluid and supersolid phases in large parameter spaces. We also discuss the effects of a trapping potential and comment on the viability of observing stripe-ordered phases with cold Fermi gases.
The two-dimensional attractive Hubbard model is studied in the weak to intermediate coupling regime by employing a non-perturbative approach. It is first shown that this approach is in quantitative agreement with Monte Carlo calculations for both single-particle and two-particle quantities. Both the density of states and the single-particle spectral weight show a pseudogap at the Fermi energy below some characteristic temperature T*, also in good agreement with quantum Monte Carlo calculations. The pseudogap is caused by critical pairing fluctuations in the low-temperature renormalized classic…
To understand the interplay of d-wave superconductivity and antiferromagnetism, we consider a two-dimensional extended Hubbard model with nearest neighbor attractive interaction. The Hamiltonian is solved in the mean-field approximation on a finite lattice. In the impurity-free case, the minimum energy solutions show phase separation as predicted previously based on free energy argument. The phase separation tendency implies that the system can be easily rendered inhomogeneous by a small external perturbation. Explicit solutions of a model including weak impurity potentials are indeed inhomoge…
Normal states of the attractive Hubbard model, especially in two dimension, are studied in the light of a transition from a Fermi liquid to an insulating or gapped state. A series of variational Monte Carlo calculations with better statistics is carried out to estimate accurately expectation values by several many-body wave functions. Although a relatively clear crossover is observed even in the plain Gutzwiller wave function, the states in both regimes are metallic. Meanwhile, a substantial metal-insulator transition takes place at |U|\sim W (band width) in an improved wave function in which …
We derive Ginzburg - Landau (GL) expansion in disordered attractive Hubbard model within the combined Nozieres - Schmitt-Rink and DMFT+Sigma approximation. Restricting ourselves to the case of homogeneous expansion, we analyze disorder dependence of GL expansion coefficients on disorder for the wide range of attractive potentials U, from weak BCS coupling region to the strong coupling limit, where superconductivity is described by Bose - Einstein condensation (BEC) of preformed Cooper pairs. We show, that for the case of semi - elliptic "bare" density of states of conduction band, disorder inf…
We present a study of the attractive Hubbard model based on the dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) combined with the numerical renormalization group (NRG). For this study the NRG method is extended to deal with self-consistent solutions of effective impurity models with superconducting symmetry breaking. We give details of this extension and validate our calculations with DMFT results with antiferromagnetic ordering. We also present results for static and integrated quantities for different filling factors in the crossover from weak (BCS) to strong coupling (BEC) superfluidity. We study the ev…
We study fermionic superfluidity in strongly anisotropic optical lattices with attractive interactions utilizing the cluster DMFT method, and focusing in particular on the role of non-local quantum fluctuations. We show that non-local quantum fluctuations impact the BCS superfluid transition dramatically. Moreover, we show that exotic superfluid states with delicate order parameter structure, such as the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov phase driven by spin population imbalance, can emerge even in the presence of such strong fluctuations.
The influence of the Zeeman magnetic field ($h$) on the ground state evolution of superfluid properties from the weak coupling (BCS like) to the strong coupling limit of tightly bound local pairs (LP) with increasing attraction has been studied. The analysis was carried out within the spin-polarized attractive Hubbard model, for a fixed number of particles and a $d=3$ simple cubic lattice. The broken symmetry Hartree approximation was used. For strong attraction and in the dilute limit, the homogeneous magnetized superconducting phase (SC$_M$) was found in the $(h-|U|)$ and ($P-|U|$) diagrams.
We use the variational cluster approximation to study the superconducting ground state in the two-dimensional attractive Hubbard model, putting particular emphasis on the significance of quantum fluctuations of the system. We first show that the order parameter is suppressed in comparison with that obtained using the mean-field theory owing to the effects of spatial fluctuations in two-dimensional systems. We then show that the calculated Bogoliubov quasiparticle spectra and condensation amplitude clearly exhibit the character of Cooper pairs in momentum space and that the pair coherence lengt…
The finite-temperature phase diagram of the attractive Hubbard model is studied by means of the Dynamical Mean Field Theory. We first consider the normal phase of the model by explicitly frustrating the superconducting ordering. In this case we obtain a first-order pairing transition between a metallic phase and a paired phase formed by strongly coupled incoherent pairs. The transition line ends in a finite temperature critical point, but a crossover between two qualitatively different solutions still occurs at higher temperature. Comparing the superconducting and the normal phase solutions, w…
Superconductivity occurs in the proximity of other competing orders in a wide variety of materials. Such competing phases may reveal themselves when superconductivity is locally suppressed by a magnetic field in the core of a vortex. We explore the competition between superconductivity and charge density wave order in the attractive Hubbard model on a square lattice. Using Bogoliubov-deGennes mean field theory, we study how vortex structures form and evolve as the magnetic flux is tuned. Each vortex seeds a CDW region whose size is determined by the energy cost of the competing phase. The vort…
Studies of systems with two fermionic bands with repulsive interaction strength U have a long history, with the Periodic Anderson Model (PAM) being one of the most frequently considered Hamiltonians. In this paper, we use Quantum Monte Carlo to study analogous issues for attractive interactions. As in the Periodic Anderson Model, we focus on a case where one band is uncorrelated (U=0), and focus on the effect of hybridization V between the bands on the pairing correlations. A key difference with the PAM is that there is no sign problem, so that we are able to explore the physics of doped multi…
One-particle spectral properties in the normal phase of the two-dimensional attractive Hubbard model are investigated in the weak coupling regime using the non-selfconsistent T-matrix approximation. The corresponding equations are evaluated numerically directly on the real frequency axis. For temperatures sufficiently close to the superconducting transition temperature a pseudogap in the one-particle spectral function is observed, which can be assigned to the increasing importance of pair fluctuations.
We show that the extended attractive Hubbard model on a square lattice hosts a variety of superconducting phases, including exotic mixed-symmetry phases with $d_{x^2-y^2} + {\rm i} [s + d_{x^2+y^2}]$ and $ d_{x^2-y^2} + p_{x}$ symmetries, and a novel $p_x + {\rm i} p_y$ state. The calculations are performed within the mean-field Bogoliubov-deGennes (BdG) framework. The ground states of the BdG Hamiltonian are obtained via a minimization scheme that does not impose symmetry constraints on the superconducting solutions, hence allowing a mixing of $s$-, $p$- and $d$-wave order parameters. Our res…
We have investigated the attractive Hubbard model in the low density limit for the 2D square lattice using the ladder approximation for the vertex function in a self-consistent, conserving formulation. In the parameter region where the on-site attraction is of the order of the bandwidth, we found no evidence of a pseudo gap. Further, we have observed that the suppression of the Fermi surface known to destroy superconductivity in one and two dimensions, when these systems are treated using a non self-consistent theory (Schmitt-Rink, et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 63, 445 (1989)), does not occur when …
In a recent preprint [arXiv:1803.04118v2] Chern and Barros report numerical simulations of the mean-field interaction quench dynamics, $U_i\to U_f$, of the attractive Hubbard model that confirm our earlier prediction [Europhys. Lett. 85, 20004 (2008), arXiv:0805.2798] of spontaneous eruption of spatial inhomogeneities in the post-quench state with periodically oscillating superconducting order. Chern and Barros attribute this instability with respect to spatial fluctuations to the large magnitude of the final Hubbard coupling $U_f$. We point out that this interpretation is inaccurate and discu…
We study competitions between charge uniform and inhomogeneous states in two-dimensional Hubbard models by using a variational Monte Carlo method. At realistic parameters for cuprate superconductors, emergent effective attraction of carriers generated from repulsive Coulomb interaction leads to charge/spin stripe ground states, which severely compete with uniform superconducting excited states in the energy scale of 10 K for the cuprates. Stripe period increases with decreasing hole doping $δ$, which agrees with the experiments for La-based cuprates at $δ$ = 1/8. For lower $δ$, we find a phase…
Spin-flip scattering from magnetic impurities has a strong pair-breaking effect in $s$-wave superconductors where increasing the concentration of impurities rapidly destroys superconductivity. For small Kondo temperature $T_K$ the destruction of superconductivity is preceded by the reentrant superconductivity at finite temperature range $T_{c2} < T < T_{c1}$, while the normal phase reappears at $T<T_{c2} \sim T_K$. Here we explore the superconducting phase in a periodic system modeled as the Anderson lattice with additional attractive on-site (Hubbard) interaction $g$ acting on the conduction …
We extend previous studies of the BCS canonical approach for the attractive Hubbard model. A derivation of the BCS formulation is presented for both the Hubbard and a simpler reduced Hamiltonian. Using direct diagonalization, exact one and two dimensional solutions for both Hamiltonians are compared to BCS variational calculations. Approximate and exact ground state energies and energy gaps are computed for different electron number systems as well as correlation observables not previously predicted. Reproducing published one dimensional findings, the BCS is an excellent approximation for the …
Inhomogeneous s-wave superconductivity is studied in the two-dimensional, square lattice attractive Hubbard Hamiltonian using the Bogoliubov-de Gennes (BdG) mean field approximation. We find that at weak coupling, and for densities mainly below half-filling, an inhomogeneous interaction in which the on-site interaction $U_i$ takes on two values, $U_i=0, 2U$ results in a larger zero temperature pairing amplitude, and that the superconducting $T_c$ can also be significantly increased, relative to a uniform system with $U_i=U$ on all sites. These effects are observed for stripe, checkerboard, and…
We provide a new perspective on the pseudogap physics for attractive fermions as described by the three-dimensional Hubbard model. The pseudogap in the single-particle spectral function, which occurs for temperatures above the critical temperature $T_c$ of the superfluid transition, is often interpreted in terms of preformed, uncondensed pairs. Here we show that the occurrence of pseudogap physics can be consistently understood in terms of local excitations which lead to a splitting of the quasiparticle peak for sufficiently large interaction. This effect becomes prominent at intermediate and …
We study the interplay between the Hofstadter butterfly, strong interactions and Zeeman field within the mean-field Bogoliubov-de Gennes theory in real space, and explore the ground states of the attractive single-band Hofstadter-Hubbard Hamiltonian on a square lattice, including the exotic possibility of imbalanced vector potentials. We find that the cooperation between the vector potential and superfluid order breaks the spatial symmetry of the system, and flourish stripe-ordered Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO)-like superfluid and supersolid phases that can be distinguished and chara…
We study the disorder effects upon superconducting transition temperature T_c and the number of local pairs in attractive Hubbard model within the combined Nozieres - Schmitt-Rink and DMFT+Σapproximations. We analyze the wide range of attractive interaction U, from the weak coupling region, where instability of the normal phase and superconductivity are well described by BCS model, to the limit of strong coupling, where superconducting transition is determined by Bose--Einstein condensation of compact Cooper pairs, forming at temperatures much higher than superconducting transition temperature…
We scrutinize the real-frequency structure of the self-energy in the superconducting state of the attractive Hubbard model within the dynamical mean-field theory. Within the strong-coupling superconducting phase which has been understood in terms of the Bose-Einstein condensation in the literature, we find two qualitatively different regions crossing over each other. In one region close to zero temperature, the self-energy depends on the frequency only weakly at low energy. On the other hand, in the region close to the critical temperature, the self-energy shows a pole structure. The latter re…
We study the crossover between the sudden quench limit and the adiabatic dynamics of superconducting states in the attractive Hubbard model. We focus on the dynamics induced by the change of the attractive interaction during a finite ramp time which is varied in order to track the evolution of the dynamical phase diagram from the sudden quench to the equilibrium limit. Two different dynamical regimes are realized for quenches towards weak and strong coupling interactions. At weak coupling the dynamics depends only on the energy injected into the system, whereas a dynamics retaining memory of t…
We present a short review of our studies of disorder influence upon Ginzburg - Landau expansion coefficients in Anderson - Hubbard model with attraction in the framework of the generalized DMFT+$Σ$ approximation. A wide range of attractive potentials $U$ is considered - from weak coupling limit, where superconductivity is described by BCS model, to the limit of very strong coupling, where superconducting transition is related to Bose - Einstein condensation (BEC) of compact Cooper pairs, which are formed at temperatures significantly higher than the temperature of superconducting transition, a…
We consider a Fermi gas that is loaded onto a square optical lattice and subjected to a perpendicular artificial magnetic field, and determine its superfluid transition boundary by adopting a BCS-like mean-field approach in momentum space. The multi-band structure of the single-particle Hofstadter spectrum is taken explicitly into account while deriving a generalized pairing equation. We present the numerical solutions as functions of the artificial magnetic flux, interaction strength, Zeeman field, chemical potential, and temperature, with a special emphasis on the roles played by the density…
We briefly review the generalized dynamical mean-field theory DMFT+Sigma treatment of both repulsive and attractive disordered Hubbard models. We examine the general problem of metal-insulator transition and the phase diagram in repulsive case, as well as BCS-BEC crossover region of attractive model, demonstrating certain universality of single - electron properties under disordering in both models. We also discuss and compare the results for the density of states and dynamic conductivity in both repulsive and attractive case and the generalized Anderson theorem behavior for superconducting cr…
