In the quasilinear Regge trajectory ansatz, some useful linear mass inequalities, quadratic mass inequalities and quadratic mass equalities are derived for mesons and baryons. Based on these relations, mass ranges of some mesons and baryons are given. The masses of bc-bar and ss-bar belonging to the pseudoscalar, vector and tensor meson multiplets are also extracted. The J^P of the baryon Xi_cc(3520) is assigned to be 1/2^+. The numerical values for Regge slopes and intercepts of the 1/2^+ and 3/2^+ SU(4) baryon trajectories are extracted and the masses of the orbital excited baryons lying on the 1/2^+ and 3/2^+ trajectories are estimated. The J^P assignments of baryons Xi_c(2980), Xi_c(3055), Xi_c(3077) and Xi_c(3123) are discussed. The predictions are in reasonable agreement with the existing experimental data and those suggested in many other different approaches. The mass relations and the predictions may be useful for the discovery of the unobserved meson and baryon states and the J^P assignment of these states.
We show that linear Regge trajectories for mesons and baryons, and the cubic mass spectrum associated with them, determine expressions for the hadron masses in terms of the universal Regge slope α' alone. The ground state hadron masses as calculated from these expressions are in excellent agreement with experiment for α'=0.85 GeV^{-2}.
Under the assumption that both light and heavy quarkonia populate approximately linear Regge trajectories with the requirements of additivity of intercepts and inverse slopes, the masses of different meson multiplets are estimated. The predictions derived from the quasi-linear Regge trajectories are in reasonable agreement with those given by many other references.
We show that Regge phenomenology is consistent with the only universal scaling law for hadron masses, M^\ast /M=(α^{'}/α^{'\ast})^{1/2}, where asterisk indicates a finite-temperature quantity. Phenomenological models further suggest the following expression of the above scaling in terms of the temperature-dependent gluon condensate: M^\ast / M = (α^'/α^{'\ast})^{1/2} = (<G_{μν}^a>^\ast/<G^{aμν}>)^{1/4}.
By using models based on Regge phenomenology we analyse the coherent photoproduction of charmonium in peripheral heavy-ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The centrality dependence is investigated and compared to the experimental results for coherent $J/ψ$ production in lead-lead LHC runs at the energies of 2.76 and 5.02 TeV. Theoretical uncertainties and possible limitations of the formalism are also discussed.
Mass spectra of heavy baryons are calculated in the heavy-quark--light-diquark picture in the framework of the QCD-motivated relativistic quark model. The dynamics of light quarks in the diquark as well as the dynamics of the heavy quark and light diquark in the baryon are treated completely relativistically without application of nonrelativistic v/c and heavy quark 1/m_Q expansions. Such approach allows us to get predictions for the heavy baryon masses for rather high orbital and radial excitations. On this basis the Regge trajectories of heavy baryons for orbital and radial excitations are c…
We use Regge phenomenology to study the structure of the poles of the $N^*$ and $Δ^*$ spectrum. We employ the available pole extractions from partial wave analysis of meson scattering and photoproduction data. We assess the importance of the imaginary part of the poles (widths) to obtain a consistent determination of the parameters of the Regge trajectory. We compare the several pole extractions and show how Regge phenomenology can be used to gain insight in the internal structure of baryons. We find that the majority of the states in the parent Regge trajectories are compatible with a mostly …
In this article, we study the mass spectra of baryons containing two heavy quarks; charm-charm ($cc$) and bottom-charm ($bc$) with a light quark ($u,d,s$) within the framework of Regge phenomenology. With the assumption of linear Regge trajectories we have derived the relations between slope ratios, intercepts, and baryon masses. Using these relations, the ground state masses of $Ξ_{cc}$, $Ξ_{bc}$, $Ω_{cc}$, and $Ω_{bc}$ baryons are obtained. The values of Regge slopes and Regge intercepts are extracted for these baryons to estimate the excited state masses in both the ($J,M^{2}$) and ($n,M^{2…
We discuss the factorization breaking effects caused by the contribution to large rapidity gap events from DIS on secondary reggeons. Based on the triple-Regge phenomenology of hadronic diffraction dissociation, we present estimates for the flux and structure function of the f reggeon. The kinematical x_Pom-beta correlation is shown to modify substantially the observed x_Pom dependence of the diffractive structure function. The secondary reggeon and x_Pom-beta correlation effects explain the recent H1 finding of the factorization breaking and resolve the apparent contradiction between the prel…
The search for stable heavy exotic hadrons is a promising way to observe new physics processes at collider experiments. The discovery potential for such particles can be enhanced or suppressed by their interactions with detector material. This paper describes a model for the interactions in matter of stable hadrons containing an exotic quark of charges $\pm {1/3}e$ or $\pm {2/3}e$ using Regge phenomenology and the Quark Gluon String Model. The influence of such interactions on searches at the LHC is also discussed.
We show that linear Regge trajectories for mesons and glueballs, and the cubic mass spectrum associated with them, determine a relation between the masses of the ρmeson and the scalar glueball, M(0^{++})=3/\sqrt{2} M(ρ), which implies M(0^{++})=1620\pm 10 MeV. We also discuss relations between the masses of the scalar and tensor and 3^{--} glueballs, M(2^{++})=\sqrt{2} M(0^{++}), M(3^{--})=2M(0^{++}), which imply M(2^{++})=2290\pm 15 MeV, M(3^{++})=3240\pm 20 MeV.
The elastic differential and integrated total cross section for the exclusive $ρ^0$ photoproduction in electron-proton ($ep$) collisions are evaluated taking into account nonperturbative Pomeron exchange approach. By using three different models based on Regge phenomenology the results are compared to recent measurements by H1 Collaboration in $ep$ collisions and by the CMS collaboration from ultraperipheral proton-lead collisions. The analysis is expanded by calculating the coherent nuclear cross section, $σ(γA\rightarrow ρ^0 A)$, which is applied to $ρ^0$ production in ultraperipheral lead-l…
We have evaluated pseudoscalar and scalar neutral pion photoproduction in $\vecγp\toπ^0p$ and $\vecγp\to a_0^0p$ above the resonance region and within Regge phenomenology. Our fit, including GlueX $Σ$ pseudoscalar photoproduction data, shows that previous SLAC $Σ$ measurements for $\vecγp \to π^0p$ above $E_γ= 4~\mathrm{GeV}$ are at variance with SLAC data with more recent measurements made by GlueX in vicinity of $E_γ= 9~\mathrm{GeV}$. The Regge model predicts that the beam polarization asymmetry $Σ$ of the scalar meson is opposite to that of pseudoscalar meson photoproduction, however, the c…
Stimulated by recent progress made by the LHCb Collaboration in discoveries of new bottom baryons, e.g., the $Ξ_{b}(6227)^{-}$ and the $Σ_{b}(6097)^{\pm}$, we re-examine the orbitally excited spectrum of the charmed and bottom baryons using Regge approach in the heavy quark-diquark picture. The results indicate that the spin-averaged mass spectrum of the orbitally-excited charmed and bottom baryons can be described by a linear Regge relation, which is derived from the rotating QCD string model. By giving further mass-splitting analysis of spin-dependent interactions, we explain the baryons $Ξ_…
We calculate the Regge trajectories of the subleading BFKL singularities and eigenfunctions for the running BFKL pomeron in the color dipole representation. We obtain a viable BFKL-Regge expansion of the proton structure function $F_{2p}(x,Q^2)$ in terms of several rightmost BFKL singularities. We find large subleading contributions to $F_{2p}(x,Q^2)$ in the HERA kinematical region which explains the lack of a predictive power of GLDAP-extrapolations of $F_{2p}(x,Q^2)$ to a domain of small $x$. We point out the relation of our early finding of the precocious BFKL asymptotics to the nodal struc…
The $γN \to π^0 N$ and $γN \to ηN$ reactions at photon beam energies above 4 GeV are investigated within Regge models. The models include $t$-channel exchanges of vector ($ρ$ and $ω$) and axial vector ($b_1$ and $h_1$) mesons. Moreover, Regge cuts of $ρ{\mathbb P}$, $ρf_2$, $ω{\mathbb P}$, and $ωf_2$ are investigated. A good description of differential cross sections and polarization observables at photon beam energies from 4 to 15 GeV can be achieved.
In the framework of Regge phenomenology, masses of the charmed states $c\bar{q} (q=u,d,s)$ lying on the $1^3S_1$-like trajectories are estimated. The overall agreement between our estimated masses and the recent predictions given by modified quark models[hep-ph/0605019, hep-ph/0608011, hep-ph/0608139] is good. Masses of the observed charmed states $D_{s0}(2317)$, $D_{sJ}(2860)$ and $D_{sJ}(2690)$/$D_{sJ}(2700)$ can be reasonably reproduced in the picture of these charmed states as simple quark-antiquark configurations. We therefore suggest the $D_{s0}(2317)$ can be identified as the $c\bar{s}(…
In this work we investigate the reaction $γp\toπ^-Δ^{++}$ in the Reggeized model for $π(138)+ρ(775)+a_2(1320)$ exchanges in the $t$-channel. For a convergence of the reaction cross section at high energies the minimal forms of proton and $Δ^{++}$ exchanges are introduced in the direct and crossed channels for gauge invariance of $π$ Regge-pole exchange. The role of spin-2 tensor meson $a_2$ is found to be crucial to agree with existing data at high energies. Electromagnetic multipoles of $Δ^{++}$ baryon are analyzed in the $Δ$ resonance region. Based on the constituents counting rule the scale…
We consider string realizations of the Randall-Sundrum effective theory for electroweak symmetry breaking and explore the search for the lowest massive Regge excitation of the gluon and of the extra (color singlet) gauge boson inherent of D-brane constructions. In these curved backgrounds, the higher-spin Regge recurrences of Standard Model fields localized near the IR brane are warped down to close to the TeV range and hence can be produced at collider experiments. Assuming that the theory is weakly coupled, we make use of four gauge boson amplitudes evaluated near the first Regge pole to det…
We present a new version of the EtaMAID model for $η$ and $η'$ photoproduction on nucleons. The model includes 23 nucleon resonances parameterized with Breit-Wigner shapes. The background is described by vector and axial-vector meson exchanges in the $t$ channel using the Regge cut phenomenology. Parameters of the resonances were obtained from a fit to available experimental data for $η$ and $η'$ photoproduction on protons and neutrons. The nature of the most interesting observations in the data is discussed.
A new mechanism for hard diffraction based on the anomalous $f_1$ trajectory exchange, which we identify as the odd signature partner of the Pomeron, is suggested. We calculate the contribution of the $f_1$ exchange to elastic and dissociative electromagnetic production of vector mesons and show that it gives a dominant contribution to the differential cross sections at large momentum transfers.
We analyze Regge trajectories in terms of the $1/N_c$ expansion of QCD. Neglecting spin-orbit contributions to the large $N_c$ baryon mass operator, we consider the evolution of the spin-flavor singlet component of the masses with respect to the angular momentum. We find two distinct and remarkably linear Regge trajectories for symmetric and for mixed symmetric spin-flavor multiplets.
In this work we present the results of a theoretical analysis of the data on photoproduction of $f_0(980)$ meson in the laboratory photon energy between 3.0 and 3.8 GeV. A comparison is done to the measurements performed by the CLAS collaboration at JLab accelerator for the exclusive reaction $γp\rightarrow pf_0(980)$. In the analysis the partial S-wave differential cross section is described by a model based on Regge approach with reggeized exchanges and distinct scenarios for the $f_0(980)\rightarrow Vγ$ coupling are considered. It is shown that such a process can provide information on the …
The CLEO Collaboration recently has announced the discovery of an excited charmed and strange baryon. We estimate the expected width of this new member of the Xi_c family. We discuss the phenomenology of the excited csq and css states, and consider what additional charmed baryons might be observable in the future. We point out that the final state Xi_c + K could be an interesting new channel to examine.
Using the Regge-like formula $(M-m_Q)^2=πσL$ between hadron mass $M$ and angular momentum $L$ with a heavy quark mass $m_Q$ and a string tension $σ$, we analyze all the heavy-light systems, i.e., $D/D_s/B/B_s$ mesons and charmed and bottom baryons.Numerical plots are obtained for all the heavy-light mesons of experimental data whose slope becomes nearly equal to 1/2 of that for light hadrons. Assuming that charmed and bottom baryons consist of one heavy quark and one light cluster of two light quarks (diquark), we apply the formula to all the heavy-light baryons including recently discovered $…
We investigate the impact of so called kinematic constraint on gluon evolution at small $x$. Implanting the constraint on the real emission term of gluon ladder diagram, we obtain an integro-differential form of BFKL equation. Later we solve the equation analytically using the method of characteristics. We sketch the Bjorken x and transverse momentum $k_t^2$ dependence of our solution of unintegrated gluon distributions $f(x,k_t^2)$ in kinematic constraint supplemented BFKL equation and contrasted the same with original BFKL equation. Then we extract the collinear gluon density $xg(x,Q^2)$ fro…
The parton model relations in conjunction with quark-hadron duality in deep inelastic scattering suggests an asymptotic dominance of quark-diquark type of baryonic excited states with a radial Regge uniformly distributed mass squared spectrum $M_{n}^2 = μ^2 n + M_0^2$. We argue that this points to a lineary quark-diquark confining potential. We analyze the radial ($n$) and angular-momentum ($J$) Regge trajectories for all light-quark states with baryon number one listed in the 2016 edition of the Particle Data Tables. The parameters of the mass squared trajectories are obtained by linear regre…
Rotational motions for the quark-diquark (q-qq), linear (q-q-q) "three-string" (Y) and "triangle" string baryon models are considered and applied to description of baryonic orbitally exited states on the Regge trajectories. For the model "triangle" (three pointlike masses bounded pairwise by relativistic strings) the rotating closed string has a form of a curvilinear triangle composed of segments of a hypocycloid. The ultrarelativistic asymptotic relation between the energy $E=M$ and the total angular momentum $J$ has the same form $J\simeqα'E^2+α_1E^{1/2}$ for rotational states in all string …
Various string models of mesons and baryons include a string carrying 2 or 3 massive points (quarks or antiquarks). Rotational states (planar uniform rotations) of these systems generate quasilinear Regge trajectories and may be used for describing excited hadron states on these trajectories. For different string models of baryon we are to solve the problem of choice between them and the stability problem for their rotational states. An unexpected result is that for the Y string baryon model these rotations are unstable with respect to small disturbances on the classical level. This instabilit…
In this paper we present a combined analysis of the H1 data on leading baryon and diffractive structure functions from DIS, which are handled as two components of the same semi-inclusive process. The available structure function data are analyzed in a series of fits in which three main exchanges are taking into account: pomeron, reggeon and pion. For each of these contributions, Regge factorization of the correspondent structure function is assumed. By this procedure, we extract information about the interface between the diffractive, pomeron-dominated, region and the leading proton spectrum, …
It has recently been suggested that the observed structure of parity doublets, seen in the spectrum of highly excited baryons, may be due to the effective restoration of chiral symmetry for these states. This chiral symmetry restoration high in the spectrum is consistent with the concept of quark-hadron duality. Moreover, if QCD dynamics implies the linear Regge trajectories for highly excited baryons, then the MacDowell symmetry requires the parity doubling to appear, which shows that linear Regge trajectories and chiral symmetry restoration are well compatible. On the contrary, in the low-en…
The most striking feature of quark distribution functions transformed to the longitudinal distance representation is the recognizable separation of small and large longitudinal distances. While the former are responsible for the average properties of parton distributions, the latter can be shown to determine specifically their small-$x$ behavior. In this paper we demonstrate how the distribution at intermediate longitudinal distances can be approximated by taking into account constraints which follow from the general properties of parton densities, such as their support and behavior at $x \to …
We start from a field-theoretical model of zero range approximation to derive three-dimensional relativistic two- and three-body equations on a null plane. We generalize those equations to finite range interactions. We propose a three-body null-plane equation whose form is different from the one presented earlier in the framework of light-cone dynamics. We discuss the choices of the kernels in two- and three-body cases and apply our model to the description of meson and baryon Regge trajectories. Our approach overcomes some theoretical and phenomenological difficulties met in preceding relativ…
In contrast to past studies, the current paper is focused on baryons, and all four isospin states have been independently generated using u and d quarks with various constituent masses. The hypercentral Constituent Quark Model (hCQM) serves as the theoretical foundation for computing the resonance masses. The spin-dependent and first order correction terms are added to the confining potential, which is assumed to be in linear form. The resulting results have been contrasted with a wide range of methodologies and experimentally practicable states. Regge trajectories for (n,M^2) and (J,M^2) have…
We present the mass spectra of radial and orbital excited states of singly heavy bottom baryons; $Σ_{b}^{+}, Σ_{b}^-, Ξ_b^-, Ξ_b^0, Λ_b^0$ and $Ω_b^-$. The QCD motivated hypercentral quark model is employed for the three body description of baryons and the form of confinement potential is hyper coulomb plus linear. The first order correction to the confinement potential is also incorporated in this work. The semi-electronic decay of $Ω_b$ and $Ξ_b$ are calculated using the spectroscopic parameters of the baryons. The computed results are compared with other theoretical predictions as well as w…
Recently, some singly bottom baryons have been established experimentally, but none of doubly or triply bottom baryons has been observed. Under the Regge phenomenology, the mass of a ground state unobserved doubly or triply bottom baryon is expressed as a function of masses of the well established light baryons and singly bottom baryons. Then, the values of Regge slopes and Regge intercepts for baryons containing one, two, or three bottom quarks are calculated. After that, masses of the orbitally excited singly, doubly, and triply bottom baryons are estimated. Our predictions may be useful for…
A novel mechanism of H^0 and strangelet production in hadronic interactions within the Gribov-Regge approach is presented. In contrast to traditional distillation approaches, here the production of multiple (strange) quark bags does not require large baryon densities or a QGP. The production cross section increases with center of mass energy. Rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of the H^0 are predicted for pp collisions at E_lab = 160 AGeV (SPS) and \sqrt s = 200 AGeV (RHIC). The predicted total H^0 multiplicities are of order of the Omega-baryon yield and can be accessed by the NA4…
We consider the degeneracy between the Regge slope of mesons and baryons in QCD. We argue that within the "orientifold large-N approximation" asymptotically massive mesons and baryons become supersymmetric partners and hence degenerate. To this end, we generalize QCD by a SU(N) theory with a quark in the two-index antisymmetric representation. We show that in this framework the meson is represented by an oriented bosonic QCD-string and the baryon is represented by an un-oriented fermionic QCD-string. At large-N, due to an equivalence with super Yang-Mills, the tensions of the bosonic and the f…
This is a short review of the theory and phenomenology of baryon distribution amplitudes, including recent applications to the studies of nucleon form factors at intermediate momentum transfers using the light-cone sum rule approach.
The present work has been done on the baryons containing one, two, or three bottom quarks. In this article, the ground-state masses of $Ω_{b}^{-}$, $Ξ_{bb}^{0}$, $Ξ_{bb}^{-}$, $Ω_{bb}^{-}$, and $Ω_{bbb}^{*-}$ baryons are calculated within the framework of Regge phenomenology. Further, the values of Regge slopes and Regge intercepts for singly, doubly, and triply bottom baryons are estimated in both the ($J,M^{2}$) and ($n,M^{2}$) planes to calculate the excited-state masses of these baryons. Here our attempt is to assign a possible spin-parity to recently observed some singly bottom baryons an…
The effect of quark mass on the Regge trajectory is analysed. Modifications in the equations of Regge trajectories are shown for mesonic as well as baryonic systems. For mesonic systems, the Regge trajectories get modified, but still remain linear. Contrary to the mesonic case, the Regge trajectories for baryonic systems indicate non-linearity. It is shown that in low mass and angular momentum region two hadrons with different quark compositions can have same mass and angular momentum.
This is a personal recollection of several results involving the phenomenological study of the multi-Regge limit of scattering amplitudes. None of them would have been possible without the encouragement and constant support from Lev Nikolaevich Lipatov.
We calculate the mass spectra of the singly charmed baryons ($Λ_{c}^{+}$, $Σ_{c}^{0}$, $Ξ_{c}^{0}$ and $Ω_{c}^{0}$) using Hypercentral constituent quark model(hCQM). The hyper color coloumb plus linear potential is used to calculate the masses of positive(upto $J^{p}=\frac{7}{2}^{+}$) and negative parity(upto $J^{p}=\frac{9}{2}^{-}$) excited states. The spin-spin, spin-orbital and tensor interaction terms are also incorporated for mass spectra. We have compared our results with other theoretical predictions and Lattice QCD for each baryons. Moreover, the known experimental results are also rea…
The inclusive production of light mesons in pp-scattering is considered in the framework of reggeon phenomenology with supercritical Pomeron. Available low-energy data can be explained with three reggeon particles taken into account. With the obtained results rapidity and pseudorapidity distributions for light-meson production at LHC energies are predicted.
A simple procedure within the $1/N_c$ expansion method where all the $N_c$ quarks are treated on the same footing has been found successful in describing mixed symmetric negative parity baryon states belonging to the $[{\bf 70},\ell^-]$ multiplets %with $\ell$ = 1, 2 or 3. of the $N$ = 1 and 3 bands. Presently it is applied to mixed symmetric positive parity $[{\bf 70},0^+]$ and $[{\bf 70},2^+]$ multiplets of the $N$ = 2 band. We search for the most dominant terms in the mass formula. The results are compared to those obtained in the procedure where the system is separated into a core and an e…
Recent research has indicated that meson and baryon Regge trajectories are nonlinear and that all current models are ruled out by data. Tang and Norbury have identified a number of properties for Regge trajectories: a test zone for linearity, divergence, parallelism and intersecting lines. Likewise, Inopin has reconstructed Regge trajectories for mesons and baryons, indicating that a majority of trajectories is grossly nonlinear. In most of the models for Regge trajectories, there is no indication that researchers have studied particle binding energies to explain the deviation of experimental …
Strange and charmed baryon productions from proton-antiproton collisions are studied in the effective Lagrangian and Regge approaches. We include only the $t$-channel dynamics which is dominant for the diffractive region that is relevant in the present discussions. For strangeness productions, the coupling constants for $K$ meson are determined by $SU(3)$ relations while other unknown parameters for $K^{*}$ couplings and for form factors are fixed by existing observed data for strangeness productions. By extrapolating the amplitudes for strangeness productions to those for charm, we predict ch…
