We give a local parametric description of all holomorphic hypersurfaces in complex Euclidean and projective spaces with constant index of relative nullity, together with applications. This is a complex analogue to the parametrization for real hypersurfaces in Euclidean space known as the Gauss parametrization.
In this paper, we explore holomorphic Segre preserving maps. First, we investigate holomorphic Segre preserving maps sending the complexification $\mathcal{M}$ of a generic real analytic submanifold $M \subseteq \C^N$ of finite type at some point $p$ into the complexification $\mathcal{M}'$ of a generic real analytic submanifold $M' \subseteq \C^{N'}$, finitely nondegenerate at some point $p'$. We prove that for a fixed $M$ and $M'$, the germs at $(p,\bar{p})$ of Segre submersive holomorphic Segre preserving maps sending $(\M,(p,\bar{p}))$ into $(\M',(p', \bar{p}'))$ can be parametrized by the…
We obtain an explicit parametrization of stationary discs glued to some Levi non-degenerate hypersurfaces. These discs form a family which is invariant under the action of biholomorphisms. We use this parametrization to construct a local circular representation of these hypersurfaces. As a corollary, we get the uniqueness of biholomorphisms with given 1-jet at some convenient point.
We study critical points of holomorphic sections of $\ocal(m)$ on $\CP^n$. For quadrics, we give a complete discription of their critical points. When $n=1$, we prove a spherical Gauss-Lucas theorem. For general situation, we prove that a general section has all its critical points isolated and non-degenerate.
Geometry of holomorphic curves from point of view of open Toda systems is discussed. Parametrization of curves related this way to non-exceptional simple Lie algebras is given. This gives rise to explicit formulas for minimal surfaces in real, complex and quaternionic projective spaces or complex quadrics. The paper generalizes the well known connection between minimal surfaces in $\EE^{3}$, their Weierstrass representation in terms of holomorphic functions and the general solution to the Liouville equation.
We prove new results on existence of solutions for the prescribed gaussian curvature problem on the euclidean sphere S^2. Those results are achieved by relating this problem with the holomorphic triples theory on Riemann surfaces. We think this approach might be applied to study some other semi-linear elliptic equations of 2nd order on the sphere.
We study the geometry of the foliation by constant Gaussian curvature surfaces $(Σ_k)_k$ of a hyperbolic end, and how it relates to the structures of its boundary at infinity and of its pleated boundary. First, we show that the Thurston and the Schwarzian parametrizations are the limits of two families of parametrizations of the space of hyperbolic ends, defined by Labourie in 1992 in terms of the geometry of the leaves $Σ_k$. We give a new description of the renormalized volume using the constant curvature foliation. We prove a generalization of McMullen's Kleinian reciprocity theorem, which …
A space-like surface in Minkowski space-time is minimal if its mean curvature vector field is zero. Any minimal space-like surface of general type admits special isothermal parameters - canonical parameters. For any minimal surface of general type parameterized by canonical parameters we obtain Weierstrass representations - canonical Weierstrass representations via two holomorphic functions. We find the expressions of the Gauss curvature and the normal curvature of the surface with respect to this pair of holomorphic functions. We find the relation between two pairs of holomorphic functions ge…
We introduce a hyperbolic Gauss map into the Poincare disk for any surface in H^2xR with regular vertical projection, and prove that if the surface has constant mean curvature H=1/2, this hyperbolic Gauss map is harmonic. Conversely, we show that every nowhere holomorphic harmonic map from an open simply connected Riemann surface into the Poincare disk is the hyperbolic Gauss map of a two-parameter family of such surfaces. As an application we obtain that any holomorphic quadratic differential on the surface can be realized as the Abresch-Rosenberg holomorphic differential of some, and generic…
To study spacelike surfaces in the Lorentz-Minkowski space $\Bbb R^{4}_1,$ we construct a pair of maps whose values are in the lightcone, called $\mathfrak l_r^{\pm} $-Gauss maps. We can use these maps to study umbilical spacelike surfaces and find parametrizations of spacelike surfaces of revolution of hyperbolic and eliptic types in some particular cases.
A Laguerre geometric local characterization is given of L-minimal surfaces and Laguerre deformations (T-transforms) of L-minimal isothermic surfaces in terms of the holomorphicity of a quartic and a quadratic differential. This is used to prove that, via their Laguerre Gauss maps, the T-transforms of L-minimal isothermic surfaces have constant mean curvature in some translate of hyperbolic 3-space or de Sitter 3-space in Minkowski 4-space, or have mean curvature zero in some translate of a time-oriented lightcone in Minkowski 4-space. As an application, we show that various instances of the La…
We study the non-embddability property for a class of real hypersurfaces, called real hypersurfaces of involution type, into the sphere in the low codimensional case, by making use of property of a naturally related Gauss curvature. We also study rigidity problems for conformal maps between a class of Kähler manifolds with pseud-conformally flat metrics.
We prove a sharp lower bound for the Tanaka-Webster holomorphic sectional curvature of strictly pseudoconvex real hypersurfaces that are "semi-isometrically" immersed in a Kähler manifold of nonnegative holomorphic sectional curvature under an appropriate convexity condition. This gives a partial answer to a question posed by Chanillo, Chiu, and Yang regarding the positivity of the Tanaka-Webster scalar curvature of the boundary of a strictly convex domain in $\mathbb{C}^2$ from 2012. In fact, the main result proves a stronger positivity property, namely the $\frac12$-positivity in the sense o…
We approach the study of totally real immersions of smooth manifolds into holomorphic Riemannian space forms of constant sectional curvature -1. We introduce a notion of first and second fundamental form, we prove that they satisfy a similar version of the classic Gauss-Codazzi equations, and conversely that solutions of Gauss-Codazzi equations are immersion data of some equivariant map. This study has some interesting geometric consequences: 1) it provides a formalism to study immersions of surfaces into SL(2,C) and into the space of geodesics of H^3; 2) it generalizes the classical theory of…
This thesis mainly treats two developments of the classical theory of hypersurfaces inside pseudo-Riemannian space forms. The former - a joint work with Francesco Bonsante - consists in the study of immersions of smooth manifolds into holomorphic Riemannian space forms of constant curvature -1 (including SL(2,C) with a multiple of its Killing form): this leads to a Gauss-Codazzi theorem, it suggests an approach to holomorphic transitioning of immersions into pseudo-Riemannian space forms, a trick to construct holomorphic maps into the PSL(2,C)-character variety, and leads to a restatement of B…
We study general properties of holomorphic isometric embeddings of complex unit balls $\mathbb B^n$ into bounded symmetric domains of rank $\ge 2$. In the first part, we study holomorphic isometries from $(\mathbb B^n,kg_{\mathbb B^n})$ to $(Ω,g_Ω)$ with non-minimal isometric constants $k$ for any irreducible bounded symmetric domain $Ω$ of rank $\ge 2$, where $g_D$ denotes the canonical Kähler-Einstein metric on any irreducible bounded symmetric domain $D$ normalized so that minimal disks of $D$ are of constant Gaussian curvature $-2$. In particular, results concerning the upper bound of the …
