Kinetic description of quantum Brownian motion

We stress the relevance of the two features of translational invariance and atomic nature of the gas in the quantum description of the motion of a massive test particle in a gas, corresponding to the original picture of Einstein used in the characterization of Brownian motion. The master equation describing the reduced dynamics of the test particle is of Lindblad form and complies with the requirement of covariance under translations.

A structure of generator of a quantum dynamical semigroup for the dynamics of a test particle interacting through collisions with the environment is considered, which has been obtained from a microphysical model. Quantum kinetic theory of flux-carrying Brownian particles

We develop the kinetic theory of the flux-carrying Brownian motion recently introduced in the context of open quantum systems. This model constitutes an effective description of two-dimensional dissipative particles violating both time-reversal and parity that is consistent with standard thermodynamics. Phase noise measurement in a cavity with a movable mirror undergoing quantum Brownian motion

We study the dynamics of an optical mode in a cavity with a movable mirror subject to quantum Brownian motion. We study the phase noise power spectrum of the output light, and we describe the mirror Brownian motion, which is responsible for the thermal noise contribution, using the quantum Langevin approach. We show that the standard quantum Langevin equations, supplemented with the appropriate non-Markovian correlation functions, provide an adequate description of Brownian motion.

Brownian motion in the pilot wave interpretation of de Broglie and relaxation to quantum equilibrium

The pilot wave interpretation proposed by de Broglie and later by Bohm contains not only a dynamical ontology but also relies on a statistical assumption known as quantum equilibrium. In this work which follows our recent article [1] we develop a Langevin force description of the relaxation process which leads to quantum equilibrium.
