In the present paper the authors show that iterations of the Hankel transform with $\mathscr{K}_ν$-transform is a constant multiple of the Widder transform. Using these iteration identities, several Parseval-Goldstein type theorems for these transforms are given. By making use of these results a number of new Goldstein type exchange identities are obtained for these and the Laplace transform. The identities proven in this paper are shown to give rise to useful corollaries for evaluating infinite integrals of special functions. Some examples are also given as illustration of the results presented here.
Generalized Vorob'ev-Yablonski polynomials have been introduced by Clarkson and Mansfield in their study of rational solutions of the second Painlevé hierarchy. We present new Hankel determinant identities for the squares of these special polynomials in terms of Schur polynomials. As an application of the identities, we analyze the roots of generalized Vorob'ev-Yablonski polynomials and provide formulæ\, for the boundary curves of the highly regular patterns observed numerically in \cite{CM}.
The aim of this paper is to prove some new uncertainty principles for the windowed Hankel transform. They include uncertainty principle for orthonormal sequence, local uncertainty principle, logarithmic uncertainty principle and Heisenberg-type uncertainty principle. As a side result, we obtain the Shapiro's dispersion theorem for the windowed Hankel transform.
Norm equivalences between a function and its Hankel transform are studied both in the context of weighted Lebesgue spaces with power weights, and in Lorentz spaces. Boas'-type results involving real-valued general monotone functions are obtained. Corresponding results for the Fourier transform are also given.
We give a new and simple proof of the Hankel inversion formula for the classical Hankel transform which holds for a complex order with real part greater than -1. Using the proof of this formula we obtain the full description of the Kirillov model for discrete series representations of SL(2,R) and GL(2,R).
We exhibit three classes of compactly supported functions which provide reproducing kernels for the Sobolev spaces $H^δ(\R^d)$ of arbitrary order $\,δ>d/2.\,$ Our method of construction is based on a new class of oscillatory integral transforms that incorporate radial Fourier transforms and Hankel transforms.
We study Riesz and Bessel potentials in the settings of Hankel transform, modified Hankel transform and Hankel-Dunkl transform. We prove sharp or qualitatively sharp pointwise estimates of the corresponding potential kernels. Then we characterize those $1\le p,q \le \infty$, for which the potential operators satisfy $L^p-L^q$ estimates. In case of the Riesz potentials, we also characterize those $1\le p,q \le \infty$, for which two-weight $L^p-L^q$ estimates, with power weights involved, hold. As a special case of our results, we obtain a full characterization of two power-weight $L^p-L^q$ bou…
The aim of this paper is to prove Kolmogorov-Riesz type theorems via Bessel and Laguerre translations, and Pego-type theorems by the corresponding transformations.
We investigate necessary and/or sufficient conditions for the pointwise and uniform convergence of the weighted Hankel transforms $$\mathcal{L}^α_{ν,μ}f(r) = r^μ\int_0^\infty (rt)^νf(t) j_α(rt)\, dt, \quad α\geq -1/2, \quad r\geq 0, $$ where $ν,μ\in \mathbb{R}$ are such that $0\leq μ+ν\leq α+3/2$. We subdivide these transforms into two classes in such a way that the uniform convergence criteria is remarkably different on each class. In more detail, we have the transforms satisfying $μ+ν=0$ (such as the classical Hankel transform), that generalize the cosine transform, and those satisfying $0<μ…
The Hankel transform H_n[f(x)](q) = int_0^infinity xf(x)J_n(qx)dx is studied for integer n>=-1 and positive parameter q. It is proved that the Hankel transform is given by uniformly and absolutely convergent series in reciprocal powers of q, provided special conditions on the function f(x) and its derivatives are imposed. It is necessary to underline that similar formulas obtained previously are in fact asymptotic expansions only valid when q tends to infinity. If one of the conditions is violated, our series become asymptotic series. The validity of the formulas is illustrated by a number of …
We study the Hankel transforms of sequences whose generating function can be expressed as a C-fraction. In particular, we relate the index sequence of the non-zero terms of the Hankel transform to the powers appearing in the monomials defining the C-fraction. A closed formula for the Hankel transforms studied is given. As every power-series can be represented by a C-fraction, this gives in theory a closed form formula for the Hankel transform of any sequence. The notion of multiplicity is introduced to differentiate between Hankel transforms.
The complete Lipschitz-Hankel integrals (LHIs) include the Laplace transforms of the Bessel functions, multiplied by powers. Such Laplace transforms can be evaluated using associated Legendre functions. It is noted that there are errors in published versions of these evaluations, and a merged and emended list of seven transforms is given. Errata for standard reference works, such as the table of Gradshteyn and Ryzhik, are also given. Most of the errors are attributable to inconsistent normalization of the Legendre functions. These transforms can be viewed as limits of incomplete LHIs, which fi…
For the third q-Bessel function (first introduced by F.H. Jackson, later rediscovered by W.Hahn in a special case and by H. Exton) we derive Hansen-Lommel type orthogonality relations, which, by a symmetry, turn out to be equivalent to orthogonality relations which are q-analogues of the Hankel integral transform pair. These results are implicit, in the context of quantum groups, in a paper by Vaksman and Korogodskii. As a specialization we get q-cosines and q-sines which admit q-analogues of the Fourier-cosine and Fourier-sine transforms. We get also a formula which is both an analogue of Gra…
In this article we shall study the analytic theory and the representation theoretic interpretations of Hankel transforms and fundamental Bessel kernels of an arbitrary rank over an archimedean field.
Using Ramanujan's Master Theorem, two formulas are derived which define the Hankel transforms of order zero with even functions by inverse Mellin transforms, provided these functions and their derivatives obey special conditions. Their validity is illustrated by a number of examples. With a help of one of these formulas, one as yet unknown parametric improper integral of the Bessel function J_0(x) is calculated.
A q-analogue of Erdelyi's formula for the Hankel transform of the product of Laguerre polynomials is derived using the quantum linking groupoid between the quantum SU(2) and E(2) groups. The kernel of the q-Hankel transform is given by the 1\varphi1-q-Bessel function, and then the transform of a product of two Wall polynomials times a q-exponential is calculated as a product of two Wall polynomials times a q-exponential.
We will prove an analogue of Landau's necessary conditions [Necessary density conditions for sampling and interpolation of certain entire functions, Acta Math. 117 (1967).] for spaces of functions whose Hankel transform is supported in a measurable subset S of the positive semi-axis. As a special case, necessary density conditions for the existence of Fourier-Bessel frames are obtained.
For fixed real numbers $c>0,$ $α>-\frac{1}{2},$ the finite Hankel transform operator, denoted by $\mathcal{H}_c^α$ is given by the integral operator defined on $L^2(0,1)$ with kernel $K_α(x,y)= \sqrt{c xy} J_α(cxy).$ To the operator $\mathcal{H}_c^α,$ we associate a positive, self-adjoint compact integral operator $\mathcal Q_c^α=c\, \mathcal{H}_c^α\, \mathcal{H}_c^α.$ Note that the integral operators $\mathcal{H}_c^α$ and $\mathcal Q_c^α$ commute with a Sturm-Liouville differential operator $\mathcal D_c^α.$ In this paper, we first give some useful estimates and bounds of the eigenfunctions $…

This paper explores the regularity properties of an inverse spectral transform for Hilbert--Schmidt Hankel operators on the unit disc. This spectral transform plays the role of action-angles variables for an integrable infinite dimensional Hamiltonian system -- the cubic Szegö equation. We investigate the regularity of functions on the tori supporting the dynamics of this system, in connection with some wave turbulence phenomenon, discovered in a previous work and due to relative small gaps between the actions. We revisit this phenomenon by proving that generic smooth functions and a G $δ$ den…
In the present paper, the authors introduce several new integral transforms including the Ln-transform, the L2n-transform and P2n-transform generalizations of the classical Laplace transform and the classical Stieltjes transform as respectively. It is shown that the second iterate of the L2n-transform is essentially the P2n-transform. Using this relationship, a few new Parseval-Goldstein type identities are obtained. The theorem and the lemmas that are proven in this article are new useful relations for evaluating infinite integrals of special functions. Some related illustrative examples are …
In the present paper the authors show that an iteration of the $\mathscr{L}_{2}$-transform by itself is a constant multiple of the Glasser transform. Using this iteration identity, a Parseval-Goldstein type theorem for $\mathscr{L}_{2}$-transform and the Glasser transform is given. By making use of these results a number of new Parseval-Goldstein type identities are obtained for these and many other well-known integral transforms. The identities proven in this paper are shown to give rise to useful corollaries for evaluating infinite integrals of special functions. Some examples are also given…
We consider integral and series transformations, which are associated with Ramanujan's identities, involving various arithmetic functions and a ratio of products of Riemann's zeta functions of different arguments. Reciprocal inversion formulas are proved in a Banach space of functions whose Mellin's transforms are integrable over the vertical line Re s > 1. Examples of new transformations like Widder-Lambert and Kontorovich-Lebedev type are exhibited. Particular cases include familiar Lambert and Mobius transformations. Finally a class of equivalences of the Salem type to the Riemann hypothes…
Let $(p_n)_n$ be a sequence of orthogonal polynomials with respect to the measure $μ$. Let $T$ be a linear operator acting in the linear space of polynomials $\PP$ and satisfying that $\dgr(T(p))=\dgr(p)-1$, for all polynomial $p$. We then construct a sequence of polynomials $(s_n)_n$, depending on $T$ but not on $μ$, such that the Wronskian type $n\times n$ determinant $\det \left(T^{i-1}(p_{m+j-1}(x))\right)_{i,j=1}^n$ is equal to the $m\times m$ determinant $\det \left(q^{j-1}_{n+i-1}(x)\right)_{i,j=1}^m$, up to multiplicative constants, where the polynomials $q_n^i$, $n,i\ge 0$, are define…
We prove certain $L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)$ bilinear estimates for Fourier extension operators associated to spheres and hyperboloids under the action of the $k$-plane transform. As the estimates are $L^2$-based, they follow from bilinear identities: in particular, these are the analogues of a known identity for paraboloids, and may be seen as higher-dimensional versions of the classical $L^2(\mathbb{R}^2)$-bilinear identity for Fourier extension operators associated to curves in $\mathbb{R}^2$.
In the present paper the authors consider the $\mathcal{P}_{ν,2}$-transform as a generalization of the Widder potential transform and the Glasser transform. The $\mathcal{P}_{ν,2}$-transform is obtained as an iteration of the the $\mathcal{L}_{2}$-transform with itself. Many identities involving these transforms are given. By making use of these identities, a number of new Parseval-Goldstein type identities are obtained for these and many other well-known integral transforms. The identities proven in this paper are shown to give rise to useful corollaries for evaluating infinite integrals of s…
We establish new relations which connect Euclidean sonar transforms (integrals taken over spheres with centers in a hyperplane) with classical Radon transforms. The relations, stated as operator identities, allow us to reduce the inversion of sonar transforms to classical Radon inversion.
We present a summation rule using the Mellin transform to give short proofs of some important classical relations between special functions and Bernoulli and Euler polynomials. For example, the values of the Hurwitz zeta function at the negative integers are expressed in terms of Bernoulli polynomials. We also show identities involving exponential and Hermite polynomials.
In this paper, we show that the kernel function of Cauchy type for type $BC$ intertwines the commuting family of van Diejen's $q$-difference operators. This result gives rise to a transformation formula for certain multiple basic hypergeometric series of type $BC$. We also construct a new infinite family of commuting $q$-difference operators for which the Koornwinder polynomials are joint eigenfunctions.
