We show that the thermodynamics of a system of strings at high energy densities under the ideal gas approximation has a formulation in terms of Hamilton-Jacobi theory. The two parameters of the system, which have dimensions of energy density and number density, respectively, define a family of hypersurfaces of co-dimension one, which can be described by the vanishing of a function F that plays the role of a Hamiltonian.
In this paper, we study singular systems with complete sets of involutive constraints. The aim is to establish, within the Hamilton-Jacobi theory, the relationship between the Frobenius' theorem, the infinitesimal canonical transformations generated by constraints in involution with the Poisson brackets, and the lagrangian point (gauge) transformations of physical systems.
We review classical results on holographic entanglement entropy utilizing the Hamilton-Jacobi approach. Possibility of using the entanglement entropy as a probe of confinement is shortly discussed in the context of lattice data.
We develop the Hamilton-Jacobi formalism for Podolsky's electromagnetic theory on the null-plane. The main goal is to build the complete set of Hamiltonian generators of the system, as well as to study the canonical and gauge transformations of the theory.
The Hamilton-Jacobi formalism of constrained systems is used to study superstring. That obtained the equations of motion for a singular system as total differential equations in many variables. These equations of motion are in exact agreement with those equations obtained using Dirac's method. Moreover, the Hamilton-Jacobi quantization of a constrained system is discussed. Quantization of the relativistic local free field with a linear velocity of dimension D containing second-class constraints is studied. The set of Hamilton-Jacobi partial differential equations and the path integral of these…
The covariant Hamilton-Jacobi formulation of Maxwell's equations is derived from the first-order (Palatini-like) Lagrangian using the analysis of constraints within the De~Donder-Weyl covariant Hamiltonian formalism and the corresponding polysymplectic reduction.
By using the Hamilton-Jacobi [$HJ$] framework the higher-order Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory is analyzed. The complete set of $HJ$ Hamiltonians and a generalized $HJ$ differential are reported, from which all symmetries of the theory are identified. In addition, we complete our study by performing the higher order Gitman-Lyakhovich-Tyutin [$GLT$] framework and compare the results of both formalisms.
Following the analysis we have presented in a previous paper (that we refer to as [I]), we describe a Noether theorem related to symmetries, with the associated reduction procedures, for classical dynamics within the Lagrangian and the Hamilton-Jacobi formalism.
The Hamilton-Jacobi analysis of three dimensional gravity defined in terms of Ashtekar-like variables is performed. We report a detailed analysis where the complete set of Hamilton-Jacobi constraints, the characteristic equations and the gauge transformations of the theory are found. We find from integrability conditions on the Hamilton-Jacobi Hamiltonians that the theory is reduced to a $BF$ field theory defined only in terms of self-dual (or anti-self-dual) variables; we identify the dynamical variables and the counting of physical degrees of freedom is performed. In addition, we compare our…
For higher derivative theories, using the approach of Caratheodory's equivalent Lagrangian, we show that there exist novel formulations of Hamilton-Jacobi equations, which are different from the formulations derived from Hamilton's canonical approach. The quantum mechanical correspondences of these novel Hamilton-Jacobi equations lead to nonlinear quantum mechanics, which seem being able to avoid the unbounded negative energy problem in the quantum mechanics of higher derivative theories.
