We examine various versions of oriented cohomology and Borel-Moore homology theories in algebraic geometry and put these two together in the setting of an "oriented duality theory", a generalization of Bloch-Ogus twisted duality theory. This combines and exends work of Panin and Mocanasu. We apply this to give a Borel-Moore homology version $MGL'_{*,*}$ of Voevodsky's $MGL^{*,*}$-theory, and a natural map $\vartheta:Ω_*\to MGL'_{2*,*}$, where $Ω_*$ is the algebraic cobordism theory defined by Levine-Morel. We conjecture that $\vartheta$ is an isomorphism and describe a program for proving this conjecture.

Oriented Borel-Moore homologies of toric varieties

We generalize the Künneth formula for Chow groups to an arbitrary OBM-homology theory satisfying descent (e.g. algebraic cobordism) when taking a product with a toric variety. As a corollary we obtain a universal coefficient theorem for the operational cohomology rings. We also give a description for the homology groups of smooth toric varieties, that allows the calculation of algebraic cobordism groups of singular toric varieties. Some computations are carried out.

Borel-Moore homology and cap product operations

We show that, for a simplicial complex, the supported cap product operation on Borel-Moore homology coincides with the supported cap product on simplicial homology. For this purpose we introduce the supported cap product for locally finite singular homology, and compare the cap product on the three homology theories.

On numerical equivalence for algebraic cobordism

We define and study the notion of numerical equivalence on algebraic cobordism cycles. We prove that algebraic cobordism modulo numerical equivalence is a finitely generated module over the Lazard ring, and it reproduces the Chow group modulo numerical equivalence. We show this theory defines an oriented Borel-Moore homology theory on schemes and oriented cohomology theory on smooth varieties. Comparison of cobordism theories

Relying on results of Hopkins-Morel, we show that, for $X$ a quasi-projective variety over a field of characteristic zero, the canonical map $Ω_n(X)\to MGL_{2n,n}'(X)$ is an isomorphism. Here $Ω_*(X)$ is the theory of algebraic cobordism defined by Levine-Morel, and $MGL_{*,*}'$ is the Borel-Moore homology version of the theory of algebraic cobordism defined via the algebraic Thom complex in the Morel-Voevodsky motivic stable homotopy category.

On the algebraic cobordism spectra MSL and MSp

We construct algebraic cobordism spectra MSL and MSp. They are commutative monoids in the category of symmetric T^{2}- spectra. Quaternionic Grassmannians and Borel classes in algebraic geometry

The quaternionic Grassmannian HGr(r,n) is the affine open subscheme of the ordinary Grassmannian parametrizing those 2r-dimensional subspaces of a 2n-dimensional symplectic vector space on which the symplectic form is nondegenerate. Matrix factorizations via Koszul duality

In this paper we prove a version of curved Koszul duality for Z/2Z-graded curved coalgebras and their coBar differential graded algebras. Curved A-infinity algebras and Landau-Ginzburg models

We study the Hochschild homology and cohomology of curved A-infinity algebras that arise in the study of Landau-Ginzburg (LG) models in physics. We show that the ordinary Hochschild homology and cohomology of these algebras vanish. To correct this we introduce modified versions of these theories, Borel-Moore Hochschild homology and compactly supported Hochschild cohomology. Motives and oriented cohomology of a linear algebraic group

For a cellular variety $X$ over a field $k$ of characteristic 0 and an algebraic oriented cohomology theory $\hh$ of Levine-Morel we construct a filtration on the cohomology ring $\hh(X)$ such that the associated graded ring is isomorphic to the Chow ring of $X$.
