Deformations of generalized calibrations and compact non-Kahler manifolds with vanishing first Chern class

We investigate the deformation theory of a class of generalized calibrations in Riemannian manifolds for which the tangent bundle has reduced structure group U(n), SU(n), G_2 and Spin(7). For this we use the property of the associated calibration form to be parallel with respect to a metric connection which may have non-vanishing torsion. In all these cases, we find that if there is a moduli space, then it is finite dimensional. Chern-Weil map for principal bundles over groupoids

The theory of principal $G$-bundles over a Lie groupoid is an important one, unifying the various types of principal $G$-bundles, including those over manifolds, those over orbifolds, as well as equivariant principal $G$-bundles. In this paper, we study the differential geometry of these objects, including connections and holonomy maps. We also introduce a Chern-Weil map for these principal bundles and prove that the characteristic classes obtained coincide with the universal characteristic classes. The theory of Chern-Simons differential characters is exploited to define an homology map $χ^{k} : H_{2r-k-1}(M)\times H_{k}(\mathcal{F}/\mathcal{G})\to \mathbb{R}/\mathbb{Z}$, for $k<r-1$, where $\mathcal{F} /\mathcal{G}$ is the moduli space of flat connections of $π$ under the action of a subgroup $\mathcal{G}$ of the gauge group. Relations in the cohomology ring of the moduli space of flat $SO(2n+1)$-connections on a Riemann surface

We consider the moduli space of flat $SO(2n+1)$-connections (up to gauge transformations) on a Riemann surface, with fixed holonomy around a marked point. There are natural line bundles over this moduli space; we construct geometric representatives for the Chern classes of these line bundles, and prove that the ring generated by these Chern classes vanishes below the dimension of the moduli space, generalising a conjecture of Newstead.

Kähler spaces with zero first Chern class: Bochner principle, Albanese map and fundamental groups

Let $X$ be a compact Kähler space with klt singularities and vanishing first Chern class. We prove the Bochner principle for holomorphic tensors on the smooth locus of $X$: any such tensor is parallel with respect to the singular Ricci-flat metrics. As a consequence, after a finite quasi-étale cover $X$ splits off a complex torus of the maximum possible dimension. The most general gauge-invariant marginal deformation of four-dimensional abelian BF-type topological field theory is studied. We consider euclidean D-branes wrapping around manifolds of exceptional holonomy in dimensions seven and eight. The resulting theory on the D-brane---that is, the dimensional reduction of 10-dimensional supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory---is a cohomological field theory which describes the topology of the moduli space of instantons. Fivebranes and resolved deformed G_2 manifolds

We study supergravity solutions corresponding to fivebranes wrapped on a three-sphere inside a G_2 holonomy manifold. By changing a parameter the solutions interpolate between a G_2 manifold X_i \cong S^3 x R^4 with flux on a three-sphere and a distinct G_2 manifold X_j \cong S^3 x R^4 with branes on another three-sphere. Therefore, these realise a G_2 geometric transition purely in the supergravity context. Canonical metrics on holomorphic Courant algebroids

The solution of the Calabi Conjecture by Yau implies that every Kähler Calabi-Yau manifold $X$ admits a metric with holonomy contained in $\textrm{SU}(n)$, and that these metrics are parametrized by the positive cone in $H^{1,1}(X,\mathbb{R})$. This paper studies the interaction of $π_1(M)$ for a $C^\infty$ manifold $M$ with Bott's original obstruction to integrability, and with differential geometric invariants such as Godbillon-Vey and Cheeger-Simons invariants of a foliation.
