We consider the generalized Kahler structures (g,J_+,J_-) that arise on a hyperkahler manifold (M,g,I,J,K) when we choose J_+ and J_- from the twistor space of M. We find a relation between semichiral and arctic superfields which can be used to determine the generalized Kahler potential for hyperkahler manifolds whose description in projective superspace is fully understood. In this paper we continue our study of the fourth order transgression on hyperähler manifolds introduced in the previous paper. We give a local construction for the fourth-order transgression of the Chern character form of an arbitrary vector bundle supplied with a self-dual connection on a four dimensional hyperkähler manifold. The construction is based on the harmonic twistor formalism. Remarkably, the resulted expression for the fourth order transgression is given in terms of the determinant of the $\bar{\partial}$-operator defined on fibers of the twistor fibration.
The target space of a (4,0) supersymmetric two-dimensional sigma model with Wess-Zumino term has a connection with totally skew-symmetric torsion and holonomy contained in Sp(n)Sp(1) (resp. We study Yang-Mills connections on holomorphic bundles over complex Kähler manifolds of arbitrary dimension, in the spirit of Hitchin's and Simpson's study of flat connections. The space of non-Hermitian Yang-Mills (NHYM) connections has dimension twice the space of Hermitian Yang-Mills connections, and is locally isomorphic to the complexification of the space of Hermitian Yang-Mills connections (which is, by Uhlenbeck and Yau, the same as the space of stable bundles). We study general linear perturbations of a class of 4d real-dimensional hyperkahler manifolds obtainable by the (generalized) Legendre transform method. The Legendre transform and its generalizations, originally found in supersymmetric sigma-models, are techniques that can be used to give constructions of hyperkahler metrics. We give a twistor space interpretation to the generalizations of the Legendre transform construction. The Atiyah-Hitchin metric on the moduli space of two monopoles is used as a detailed example.

We review a progress in obtaining the complete non-perturbative effective action of type II string theory compactified on a Calabi-Yau manifold. This problem is equivalent to understanding quantum corrections to the metric on the hypermultiplet moduli space. We show how all these corrections, which include D-brane and NS5-brane instantons, are incorporated in the framework of the twistor approach, which provides a powerful mathematical description of hyperkahler and quaternion-Kahler manifolds. We study the construction of generalized Kahler manifolds, described purely in terms of N=(2,2) semichiral superfields, by a quotient using the semichiral vector multiplet. Despite the presence of a b-field in these models, we show that the quotient of a hyperkahler manifold is hyperkahler, as in the usual hyperkahler quotient. We extend our previous results on the relation between quaternion-Kahler manifolds and hyperkahler cones and we describe how isometries, moment maps and scalar potentials descend from the cone to the quaternion-Kahler space. As an example of the general construction, we discuss the gauging and the corresponding scalar potential of hypermultiplets with the unitary Wolf spaces as target spaces. This class includes the universal hypermultiplet.
We study the elliptic genera of hyperKahler manifolds using the representation theory of N=4 superconformal algebra. We consider the decomposition of the elliptic genera in terms of N=4 irreducible characters, and derive the rate of increase of the multiplicities of half-BPS representations making use of Rademacher expansion. Exponential increase of the multiplicity suggests that we can associate the notion of an entropy to the geometry of hyperKahler manifolds. In the case of symmetric products of K3 surfaces our entropy agrees with the black hole entropy of D5-D1 system.
We propose two kinds of gauged linear sigma models whose moduli spaces are real eight-dimensional hyperKahler and Calabi-Yau manifolds, respectively. Here, hyperKahler manifolds have sp(2) holonomy in general and are dual to Type IIB (p,q)5-brane configurations. Anti-self-dual (ASD) Maxwell solutions on 4-dimensional hyperkähler manifolds are constructed. The N=2 supersymmetric half-flat equations are derived in the context of the Ashtekar formulation of N=2 supergravity. These equations show that the ASD Maxwell solutions have a direct connection with the solutions of the reduced N=2 supersymmetric ASD Yang-Mills equations with a special choice of gauge group. Two examples of the Maxwell solutions are presented.
We construct the twistor space associated with an HKT manifold, that is, a hyper-Kähler manifold with torsion, a type of geometry that arises as the target space geometry in two-dimensional sigma models with (4,0) supersymmetry. We show that this twistor space has a natural complex structure and is a holomorphic fibre bundle over the complex projective line with fibre the associated HKT manifold. We show that, in the region where monopoles are well separated, the L^2-metric on the moduli space of n-monopoles is exponentially close to the T^n-invariant hyperkähler metric proposed by Gibbons and Manton. The proof is based on a description of the Gibbons-Manton metric as a metric on a certain moduli space of solutions to Nahm's equations, and on twistor methods. In particular, we show how the twistor description of monopole metrics determines the asymptotic metric.
