There are strong arguments favoring a four-quark interpretation of sub-GeV light scalar mesons and the diquark-antidiquark body-plan of the tetraquark seems to provide the most convincing picture. The building diquarks of these particles are assumed to be spin zero objects. In this paper we explore the possibility that radially excited aggregations of spin zero or spin one diquarks might exist and discuss the possibility of the Y(2175) state observed by BaBar and confirmed by BES being one such state.
We discuss possibility of the existence of tetraquark states made of four quarks in the string (flux tube) model. The new particle is composed of a diquark and an anti-diquark which are connected by a color flux. It is shown that the vibrational and rotational excited states of the string explain some non-$\bar{q}q$ mesons observed experimentally. Moreover we discuss the decay widths of such tetraquarks with the use of the Schwinger mechanism.
In this article, we study the $Z_c(3900)$ with the QCD sum rules in details by including the two-particle scattering state contributions and nonlocal effects between the diquark and antidiquark constituents. The two-particle scattering state contributions cannot saturate the QCD sum rules at the hadron side, the contribution of the $Z_c(3900)$ plays an un-substitutable role, we can saturate the QCD sum rules with or without the two-particle scattering state contributions. If there exists a barrier or spatial separation between the diquark and antidiquark constituents, the Feynman diagrams can …
We systematically calculate the mass spectrum of the higher excited fully-charmed tetraquark $cc\bar c\bar c$ states including the S-wave radial excitations and the P-wave states with a nonrelativistic quark model. The quark model is composed of a vector one-gluon-exchange (OGE) and a scalar linear confinement interaction with the parameters determined by the charmonium spectrum. In the calculation, we consider both the $3_c-\bar 3_c$ and the $6_c-\bar{6}_c$ color representations. For the $cc\bar c\bar c $ state, the $6_c-\bar 6_c$ component is located lower than the $\bar 3_c-3_c$ one because…
In this article, we take the scalar diquarks as point particles and describe them as basic quantum fields, then introduce the SU(3) color gauge interaction and new vacuum condensates to study the nonet scalar mesons as tetraquark states with the QCD sum rules. Comparing with the conventional quark currents, the diquark currents have the outstanding advantage to satisfy the two criteria of the QCD sum rules more easily.
We consider a system composed of two identical light quarks ($qq$) and two identical antiquarks ($\bar Q\bar Q$) that can be linked either as two mesons or as a tetraquark, incorporating quantum correlations between identical particles and an effective many-body potential between particles. We perform a 3-D Monte Carlo simulation of the system, considering the configurations allowed to form: i) Only two mesons, ii) Only tetraquark and iii) two mesons and tetraquark . We characterize each case and determine whether it is energetically more favorable to form a tetraquark or two mesons, as a func…
In this article, we assign the $Z_c^\pm(3900)$ to be the diquark-antidiquark type axialvector tetraquark state, study its magnetic moment with the QCD sum rules in the external weak electromagnetic field by carrying out the operator product expansion up to the vacuum condensates of dimension 8. We pay special attention to matching the hadron side with the QCD side of the correlation function to obtain solid duality, the routine can be applied to study other electromagnetic properties of the exotic particles.
Understanding the nature of the exotic XYZ resonances is one of the open problems in hadronic spectroscopy. Despite the experimental efforts, the structure of these particles still lacks of an accepted theoretical framework. We propose to use the $Z_c^{(\prime)} \to η_c ρ$ decays as a possible discriminant between two of the most popular models: the compact tetraquark and the loosely bound meson molecule. We show that the predictions obtained within the two pictures are significantly different and therefore the proposed decay channel might shed some light on the nature of these states.
Due to the cluster reducibility of multiquark operators, a strong interplay exists in tetraquarks between the compact structure, resulting from the direct confining forces acting on quarks and gluons, and the molecular structure, dominated by the mesonic clusters. This issue is studied within an effective field theory approach, where the compact tetraquark is treated as an elementary particle. The key ingredient of the analysis is provided by the primary coupling constant of the compact tetraquark to the two mesonic clusters. Under the influence of this coupling, an initially formed compact te…
In the QCD sum rules for the tetraquark (molecular) states, the higher dimensional vacuum condensates play an important role in extracting the tetraquark masses. We carry out the operator product expansion up to the vacuum condensates of dimension-10 and observe that the vacuum condensates of dimensions $6$, $8$ and $10$ have the same expressions but opposite signs for the $Cγ_5\otimes γ_μC$-type and $C\otimes γ_μC$ type four-quark currents, which make their influences distinguishable, and they are excellent channels to examine the vacuum saturation approximation. We introduce a parameter $κ$ …
The full version of QCD light-cone sum rule method is applied to tetraquarks containing a single heavy $b$ or $c$ quark. To this end, investigations of the strong vertices $X_{b}X_{b}ρ$ and $X_{c}X_{c}ρ$ are performed, where $X_b=[su][\bar b\bar d]$ and $X_c=[su][\bar c\bar d]$ are the exotic states built of four quarks of different flavors. The strong coupling constants $G_{X_{b}X_{b}ρ}$ and $G_{X_{c}X_{c}ρ}$ corresponding to these vertices are found using the $ρ$-meson leading and higher-twist distribution amplitudes. In the calculations $X_{b}$ and $X_{c}$ are treated as scalar bound states…
In this work, we calculate the higher mass spectra for the $2S$- and $1D$-wave fully-charmed and fully-bottom tetraquark states in a nonrelativistic potential quark model. The $2S$-wave fully-charmed/bottom tetraquark states lie in the mass range of $\sim (6.9,7.1)$/$(19.7,19.9)$ GeV, apart for the highest $0^{++}$ state $T_{(cc\bar{c}\bar{c})0^{++}}(7185)$/ $T_{(bb\bar{b}\bar{b})0^{++}}(19976)$. Most of the $2S$-wave states highly overlap with the high-lying $1P$-wave states. The masses for the $1D$-wave fully-charmed/bottom tetraquarks are predicted to be in the range of $\sim (6.7,7.2)/(19.…
We study the masses of open charm and bottom tetraquark states within the diquark-antidiquark scenario in the relativized quark model proposed by Godfrey and Isgur. The diquark and antidiquark masses are firstly solved by relativized quark potential, and then treated as the usual antiquark and quark, respectively. The masses of tetraquark states are obtained by solving the Schrödinger-type equation between the new diquark and antidiquark. We find the masses of $sq\bar b\bar q$ tetraquark configuration are much higher than that of $X(5568)$. This conclusion disfavors the possibility of $X(5568)…
The goal of the present work is to obtain a reliable estimate of the masses of the ground and radially excited states of fully-heavy tetraquark systems. In order to do this, we use a nonrelativistic model of tetraquarks which are assumed to be compact and consist of diquark-antidiquark pairs. This nonrelativistic model is composed of Hulthen potential, a linear confining potential and spin-spin interaction. We computed ground, first, and second radially excited $cc\bar{c}\bar{c}$ and $bb\bar{b}\bar{b}$ tetraquark masses. It was found that predicted masses of ground states of $cc\bar{c}\bar{c}$…
We study the case of a di-bottomonium $bb\bar b\bar b$ particle at the LHC. Its mass and decay width are obtained within a new model of diquark-antidiquark interactions in tetraquarks. The same model solves several open problems on the phenomenology of the experimentally better known $X,Z$ states. We show that the $bb\bar b\bar b$ tetraquark is expected approximately 100 MeV below threshold, and compare to a recent analysis by LHCb seeking it in the $Υμμ$ final state.
The mass of $P$-wave $cs$-scalar-diquark $\bar{c}\bar{s}$-scalar-antidiquark state is computed in the framework of QCD sum rules. The result $4.69\pm0.36{GeV}$ is in good agreement with the experimental value of Y(4660) but higher than Y(4260)'s, which supports the $P$-wave $[cs][\bar{c}\bar{s}]$ configuration for Y(4660) while disfavors the interpretation of Y(4260) as the $P$-wave $[cs][\bar{c}\bar{s}]$ state. In the same picture, the mass of $P$-wave $[bs][\bar{b}\bar{s}]$ is predicted to be $11.19\pm0.49 {GeV}$.
We introduce the hypothesis that diquarks and antidiquarks in tetraquarks are separated by a potential barrier. We show that this notion can answer satisfactorily long standing questions challenging the diquark-antidiquark model of exotic resonances. The tetraquark description of X and Z resonances is shown to be compatible with present limits on the non-observation of charged partners X^+-, of the X(3872) and the absence of a hyperfine splitting between two different neutral states. In the same picture, Z_c and Z_b particles are expected to form complete isospin triplets plus singlets. It is …
Two tetraquark candidates $Z_b(10610)$ and $Z_b(10650)$ with flavor structure $\bar bb\bar du$ were discovered by Belle experiment in 2011. We present a preliminary $N_f=2$ lattice study of the $\bar bb\bar du$ system in the approximation of static $b$ quarks, where the total spin of heavy quarks is fixed to one. The ground and the excited eigen-energies are determined as a function of separation $r$ between $b$ and $\bar b$. The lower eigenstates are related to a bottomonium and a pion. One of the higher eigenstates is dominated by $B\bar B^*$: its energy is significantly below $m_B+m_{B*}$ f…
We have performed a 3-D Monte Carlo simulation of a system composed of two identical light quarks ($qq$) and two identical antiquarks ($\bar Q\bar Q$) and determined whether it is energetically more favorable to form a tetraquark or two mesons, as a function of the interparticle separation distance which, for a fixed number of particles, can be identified as a particle density. In this proceedings, we highlight the main results and elaborate on the implications in properties like the correlation function for two-mesons and characterize the isolated diquark correlation function. We analize the …
We investigate properties of the ground-state and first radially excited four-quark mesons $X_0$ and $X_0^{\prime}$ with a diquark-antidiquark structure $[ud][\overline{c}\overline{s}]$ and spin-parities $J^{\mathrm{P} }=0^{+}$. Our aim is to reveal whether or not one of these states can be identified with the resonance $X_0(2900)$, recently discovered by the LHCb collaboration. We model $X_0$ and $X_0^{\prime}$ as tetraquarks composed of either axial-vector or scalar diquark and antidiquark pairs. Their spectroscopic parameters are computed by employing the QCD two-point sum rule method and i…
Superconformal algebra leads to remarkable connections between the masses of mesons and baryons of the same parity -- supersymmetric relations between the bosonic and fermionic bound states of QCD. Supercharges connect the mesonic eigenstates to their baryonic superpartners, where the mesons have internal angular momentum one unit higher than the baryons. We also predict the existence of tetraquarks which are degenerate in mass with baryons with the same angular momentum. An effective supersymmetric light-front Hamiltonian for hadrons composed of light quarks can be constructed by embedding su…
We use a diffusion Monte Carlo method to solve the many-body Schrödinger equation describing fully-heavy tetraquark systems. This approach allows to reduce the uncertainty of the numerical calculation at the percent level, accounts for multi-particle correlations in the physical observables, and avoids the usual quark-clustering assumed in other theoretical techniques applied to the same problem. The interaction between particles was modeled by the most general and accepted potential, i.e. a pairwise interaction including Coulomb, linear-confining and hyperfine spin-spin terms. This means that…
Speculating that the $ud$ diquark with spin 0 has a similar mass to the constituent $s$ quark, we introduce a symmetry between the $s$ quark and the $\overline{ud}$ diquark. Constructing an algebra for this symmetry, we regard a triplet of the $s$ quarks with spin up and down and the $\overline{ud}$ diquark with spin 0 as a fundamental representation of this algebra. We further build higher representations constructed by direct products of the fundamental representations. We propose assignments of hadrons to the multiples of this algebra. We find in particular that $\{D_{s}, D_{s}^{*}, Λ_{c}\}…
Inclusive single-particle production cross sections have been calculated including higher-order QCD corrections. Transverse-momentum and rapidity distributions are presented and the scale dependence is studied. The results are compared with experimental data from the CERN S(p anti-p)S Collider and the Fermilab Tevatron.
We review recent results on higher-order calculations to squark and gluino production and decay at the LHC, as obtained within the Collaborative Research Centre / Transregio 9 "Computational Particle Physics". In particular, we discuss inclusive cross sections, including the summation of threshold corrections, higher-order calculations for specific squark production channels and for top squark decays, and next-to-leading order calculations for exclusive observables matched to parton showers.
According to common lore, massive elementary higher spin particles lead to inconsistencies when coupled to gravity. However, this scenario was not completely ruled out by previous arguments. In this paper, we show that in a theory where the low energy dynamics of the gravitons are governed by the Einstein-Hilbert action, any finite number of massive elementary particles with spin more than two cannot interact with gravitons, even classically, in a way that preserves causality. This is achieved in flat spacetime by studying eikonal scattering of higher spin particles in more than three spacetim…
We analyze experimental particle spectra and show that the Hagedorn temperature is significantly larger for mesons than for baryons. The effect can be explained within dual string models: excitations of three strings in the baryon produce ``faster'' combinatorics than a single string in the meson, hence lead to a more rapid growth of baryons than mesons. Predictions of other approaches for the gross features of particle spectra are also discussed.
Using an effective field theory approach for higher-spin fields, we derive the interactions of colour singlet and electrically neutral particles with a spin higher than unity, concentrating on the spin-3/2, spin-2, spin-5/2 and spin-3 cases. We compute the decay rates and production cross sections in the main channels for spin-3/2 and spin-2 states at both electron-positron and hadron colliders, and identify the most promising novel experimental signatures for discovering such particles at the LHC. The discussion is qualitatively extended to the spin-5/2 and spin-3 cases. Higher-spin particles…
We demonstrate that the use of on-shell methods involving calculation of the discontinuity across the t-channel cut associated with the exchange of a pair of massless particles can be used to evaluate loop contributions to the electromagnetic and gravitational scattering of both massive and massless particles. In the gravitational case the use of factorization permits a straightforward and algebraic calculation of higher order scattering results, which were obtained previously by considerably more arduous Feynman diagram techniques.
