The Schrodinger equation and negative energies

We present a nonrelativistic wave equation for the electron in (3+1)-dimensions which includes negative-energy eigenstates. We solve this equation for three well-known instances, reobtaining the corresponding Pauli equation (but including negative-energy eigenstates) in each case.

We review the standards of relativistic quantum mechanics such as the Dirac equation under the concept of negative masses. We show that negative energies are acceptable provided the masses are simultaneously negative. Negative energy and mass anti fermions are obtained from positive energy and mass fermions through a unitary PT transformation.

Physical meaning and derivation of Schrodinger and Dirac equations

The wavefunction of a particle is obtained from its intermediate states and interaction processes considered as happening concurrently. When the interaction is described by a potential, the energy of the particle is equal to its total kinetic plus potential energies. Solving Schrödinger Equation with Scattering Matrices. Bound states of Lennard-Jones Potential

This paper presents an accurate highly efficient method for solving the bound states in the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation with an arbitrary potential. We show that the bound state energies of a general potential well can be obtained from the scattering matrices of two associated scattering potentials. Such scattering matrices can be determined with high efficiency and accuracy, leading us to a new method to find the bound state energies. Rigged Hilbert Space Approach to the Schrodinger Equation

It is shown that the natural framework for the solutions of any Schrodinger equation whose spectrum has a continuous part is the Rigged Hilbert Space rather than just the Hilbert space. The difficulties of using only the Hilbert space to handle unbounded Schrodinger Hamiltonians whose spectrum has a continuous part are disclosed. Time reversal and negative energies in general relativity

The significance of past-pointing four-vectors and negative energies in general relativity is discussed. The sign of the energy is not absolute, but relative to the four-velocity of the observer, and every particle/observer always measures its own mass as positive. It is shown that the description of the interaction of past-pointing and future-pointing matter in general relativity requires two metric tensors for self-consistency. This aspect of general relativity might account for the observations that led to the proposal of "dark energy" and non-baryonic "dark matter".

Sub- and supercritical defect scattering in Schrödinger chains with higher-order hopping

We theoretically analyze a discrete Schrödinger chain with hopping to the first and second neighbors, as can be realized with zigzag arrangements of optical waveguides or lattice sites for cold atoms. Quantum potential in dust collapse with a negative cosmological constant

In the functional Schrodinger formalism, we obtain the wave function describing collapsing dust in an anti-de Sitter background, as seen by a co-moving observer, by mapping the resulting variable mass Schrodinger equation to that of the quantum isotonic oscillator.
