Invariants associated with linear ordinary differential equations

We apply a novel method for the equivalence group and its infinitesimal generators to the investigation of invariants of linear ordinary differential equations. First, a comparative study of this method is illustrated by an example. Next, the method is used to obtain the invariants of low order linear ordinary differential equations, and the structure invariance group for an arbitrary order of these equations. Other properties of these equations are also discussed, including the exact number of their invariants.

The minimax approach to the estimation of solutions to first order linear systems of ordinary differential periodic equations with inexact data

We consider first-order linear systems of ordinary differential equations with periodic coefficients. Supposing that right-hand sides of equations are not known and subjected to some quadratic restrictions, we obtain optimal, in certain sense, estimates of solutions to above-mentioned problems from indirect noisy observations of these solutions on a finite system of points and intervals.

Cauchy Problem for a Linear System of Ordinary Differential Equations of the Fractional Order

The paper investigates the initial problem for a linear system of ordinary differential equations with the fractional differentiation operator Dzhrbashyan -- Nersesyan with constant coefficients. The existence and uniqueness theorems of the solution of the boundary value problem under study are proved. The solution is constructed explicitly in terms of the Mittag-Leffler function of the matrix argument. On ordinary differential inclusions with mixed boundary conditions

By means of nonsmooth critical point theory, we prove existence of three weak solutions for an ordinary differential inclusion of Sturm-Liouville type involving a general set-valued reaction term depending on a parameter, and coupled with mixed boundary conditions. As an application, we give a multiplicity result for ordinary differential equations involving discontinuous nonlinearities.

On the rate of convergence in periodic homogenization of scalar first-order ordinary differential equations

In this paper, we study the rate of convergence in periodic homogenization of scalar ordinary differential equations. We provide a quantitative error estimate between the solutions of a first-order ordinary differential equation with rapidly oscillating coefficients and the limiting homogenized solution. As an application of our result, we obtain an error estimate for the solution of some particular linear transport equations.

The Multiplier Problem of the Calculus of Variations for Scalar Ordinary Differential Equations

The Cauchy problem for a semilinear ordinary differential equation in the homogeneous and isotropic spacetime

A semilinear ordinary differential equation is derived from a semilinear Schrödinger equation in the homogeneous and isotropic spacetime by the Ehrenfest theorem. The Cauchy problem for the equation is considered. Exact solutions and nonexistence of global weak solutions of the equation are also considered in the de Sitter spacetime. The effects of spatial expansion and contraction are studied.

The behavior of solutions of the systems of two first order linear ordinary differential equations

The Riccati equation method is used for study the behavior of solutions of the systems of two linear first order ordinary differential equations. All types of oscillation and regularity of these system are revealed. A generalization of Leighton's theorem is obtained. Three new principles for the second order linear differential equations are derived. Stability and non conjugation criteria are proved for the mentioned systems, as well as estimates are obtained for the solutions of the last ones.

On the large time behavior of the solutions of a nonlocal ordinary differential equation with mass conservation

We consider an initial value problem for a nonlocal differential equation with a bistable nonlinearity in several space dimensions. The equation is an ordinary differential equation with respect to the time variable t, while the nonlocal term is expressed in terms of spatial integration. We discuss the large time behavior of solutions and prove, among other things, the convergence to steady-states. The proof that the solution orbits are relatively compact is based upon the rearrangement theory.

Bounded solutions for an ordinary differential system from the Ginzburg-Landau theory

In this paper, we look at a linear system of ordinary differential equations as derived from the two-dimensional Ginzburg-Landau equation. In two cases, it is known that this system admits bounded solutions coming from the invariance of the Ginzburg-Landau equation by translations and rotations. The specific contribution of our work is to prove that in the other cases, the system does not admit any bounded solutions. We show that this bounded solution problem is related to an eigenvalue problem.

A new proof of the uniqueness of the flow for ordinary differential equations with BV vector fields

We provide in this article a new proof of the uniqueness of the flow solution to ordinary differential equations with $BV$ vector-fields that have divergence in $L^\infty$ (or in $L^1$) and that are nearly incompressible (see the text for the definition of this term). The novelty of the proof lies in the fact it does not use the associated transport equation.
