The positive parity scalar D$_{s0}^*$(2317) and axial-vector D$_{s1}^*$(2460) charmed strange mesons are generated by coupled-channel dynamics through the s-wave scattering of Goldstone bosons off the pseudoscalar and vector D(D$_s$)-meson ground states. The attraction leading to the specific masses of these states reflects the chiral symmetry breaking scale which characterizes the Weinberg-Tomozawa interaction in the chiral Lagrangian. Chiral corrections to order Q$_χ^2$ are calculated and found to be small. The D$_{s0}^*$(2317) and D$_{s1}^*$(2460) mesons decay either strongly into the isospin-violating $π^0$D$_s$ and $π^0$D$_s^*$ channels or electromagnetically. We show that the $π^0$-$η$ and (K$^0$D$^+$-K$^+$D$^0$) mixings act constructively to generate strong widths of the order of 140 keV. The one-loop contribution to the radiative decay amplitudes of scalar and axial-vector states is calculated using the electromagnetic Lagrangian to chiral order Q$_χ^2$. We show the importance of taking into account processes involving light vector mesons explicitly in the dynamics of electromagnetic decays to obtain a satisfactory description of the available data.
We consider meson radiative decays within the framework of $U_0(1)\times U(1)\times SU(2)$ gauge symmetry. This approach is based on the linear sigma-model extended by the gauge and quark-meson interactions. Physical content and parameters of the model are discussed. Theoretical predictions for some radiative decays of vector mesons are in a good agreement with the experimental data.
We evaluate the radiative and hadronic decay rates of the $D^*$ mesons using the Heavy Quark Effective Theory and the Vector Meson Dominance hypothesis. We also estimate the width of the $B^*$ electromagnetic transitions and the radiative decays of positive parity $J^P=0^+, 1^+$ charmed mesons.
We study the radiative $ρ^0\to π^+π^-γ$ and $ρ^0\to π^0π^0γ$ decays and we calculate their branching ratios using a phenomenological approach by adding to the amplitude calculated within the framework of chiral perturbation theory and vector meson dominance the amplitude of $σ$-meson intermediate state. Our results for the branching ratios are in good agreement with the experimental values.
QED radiative effects are considered in the case of measurement of spin-density matrix elements of diffractive $ρ$-meson electroproduction. Large radiative correction for $r^5_{00}$ is found in the kinematics of collider experiments at HERA.
In the framework of the local Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model the radiative decay widths of the scalar mesons $f_0(980)$ and $a_0(980)$ into $ργ$ and $ωγ$ are calculated. The contributions of the quark loops and the meson loops are taken into account. For the radiative decays of the scalar meson $f_0(980)$ the contribution of the meson loops plays the dominant role. On the other side for the radiative decays of the scalar meson $a_0(980)$ the main contribution is given by the quark loops.
To analyze an electromagnetic and strong hadron processes at low energies, we consider the renormalizable model with the U0(1) x U(1) x SU(2) gauge symmetry. This approach is based on the linear sigma-model extended by the gauge and quark-meson interactions. Physical content and parameters of the model are discussed. Theoretical predictions for some radiative decays of vector mesons are in a good agreement with the experimental data.
We evaluate the radiative decay into a pseudoscalar meson and a photon of the whole set of the axial-vector mesons dynamically generated from the vector-pseudoscalar meson ($VP$) interaction. We take into account tree level and loop diagrams coming from the axial-vector decay into a vector and a pseudoscalar meson. We find a large span for the values of the radiative widths of the different axial-vector mesons. In particular, we evaluate the radiative decay into $K γ$ of the two $K_1(1270)$ states, recently claimed theoretically, and discuss the experimental values quoted so far on the assumpt…
We study the effect of scalar-isoscalar $f_{0}(980)$ meson in the mechanism of the radiative $ϕ\to π^{+}π^{-}γ$ decay. A phenomenological approach is used to study this decay by considering the contributions of $σ$-meson, $ρ$-meson and $f_{0}(980)$-meson. The interference effects between different contributions are analyzed and the branching ratio for this decay is calculated. We observe that $f_0$ meson contribution is much larger than the contributions of the other terms.
QED radiative corrections to the cross section of diffractive electro- and photoproduction of vector mesons is calculated at HERA energies. Both semi-analytical and Monte Carlo approaches are discussed and compared.
The electromagnetic radiative correction to the cross section of the vector meson electroproduction is calculated. Explicit covariant formulae for the observed cross section are obtained. The dependence of the radiative correction on the experimental resolution and on the inelasticity cut is discussed. FORTRAN code DIFFRAD based on both exact (ultrarelativistic) and approximate sets of the formulae for the radiative correction to the cross section is presented. The detailed numerical analysis for kinematical conditions of the recent experiments on the diffractive electroproduction of vector me…
B_s-meson double radiative decay $B \to γγ$ is investigated in frame of supersymmetric extension of the standard model. The branching ratio is calculated. It is shown that for light Higgs particle and heigh $\tanβ$ supersymmetric contribution into branching ratio is significunt large than standard model estimate.
The transition form factors of the radiative decays of the heavy tensor mesons to heavy pseudoscalar and heavy vector mesons are calculated in the framework of the light cone QCD sum rules method at the point $Q^2=0$. Using the obtained values of the transition form factors at the point $Q^2=0$ the corresponding decay widths are estimated. The results show that the radiative decays of the heavy--light tensor mesons can be measurable in the future planned experiments at LHCb.
We evaluate the complete spectrum of the Bc mesons, below the open flavor BD threshold, in a Bethe-Salpeter model. We make predictions for the radiative decay widths of the Bc excited states. We compare our results with those of other models.
We review semi-inclusive charmless B decays, focussing on threshold logarithmic resumming and on universality of QCD dynamics in radiative and semileptonic decays.
Using the calculated values of the strong coupling constants of the heavy sextet spin-3/2 baryons to sextet and antitriplet heavy spin-1/2 baryons with light mesons within the light cone QCD sum rules method, and vector meson dominance assumption, the radiative decay widths are calculated. These widths are compared with the "direct" radiative decay widths predicted in the framework of the light cone QCD sum rules.
We evaluate the radiative decay into a vector a pseudoscalar and a photon of several resonances dynamically generated from the vector vector interaction. The process proceeds via the decay of one of the vector components into a pseudoscalar and a photon, which have an invariant mass distribution very different from phase space as a consequence of the two vector structure of the resonances. Experimental work along these lines should provide useful information on the nature of these resonances.
Inclusive radiative decays $B_c\toγu\bar{d}$ are considered. It is shown that photon emission allows one to bypass the chiral suppression and leads the increase of the branching fraction by about four orders of magnitude. The estimates of exclusive decay branching fractions of $B_c$ meson into different sets of $π$ mesons are also given.
We predict observables in radiative B decays to vector mesons using holographic AdS/QCD Distribution Amplitudes for the vector mesons. We find that end-point divergences can be avoided when computing power-suppressed contributions in the heavy quark limit. The results reported here can be found in references [1] and [2].
We derive two model-independent sum rules relating the transition matrix elements for radiative and strong decays of excited heavy mesons to properties of the lowest-lying heavy mesons. The sum rule for the radiative decays is an analog of the Cabibbo-Radicati sum rule and expresses the sum of the radiative widths in terms of the isovector charge radius of the ground state heavy meson. Using model-dependent estimates and heavy hadron chiral perturbation theory calculations, we show that this sum rule is close to saturation with states of excitation energies less than 1 GeV. An analog of the Ad…
We revisit the theoretical predictions for anomalous radiative decays of pseudoscalar and vector mesons. Our analysis is performed in the framework of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model, introducing adequate parameters to account for the breakdown of chiral symmetry. The results are comparable with those obtained in previous approaches.
In relativistic potential model of heavy-light mesons it is essential to incorporate the chiral radiative corrections before comparing the model predictions with data. Once the radiative corrections are taken into account the potential model can explain the unusual mass spectra and absence of the spin orbit-inversion in P-wave states.
After a brief review of the puzzling light scalar meson sector of QCD, a brief summary will be given of a paper concerning radiative decays involving the light scalars. There, a simple vector meson dominance model is constructed in an initial attempt to relate a large number of the radiative decays involving a putative scalar nonet to each other. As an application it is illustrated why $a_0(980)-f_0(980)$ mixing is not expected to greatly alter the $f_0/a_0$ production ratio for radiative $ϕ$ decays.
Combining heavy quark effective theory and the chiral Lagrangian approach we investigate D meson radiative decays. First, we reanalyse $D^{*} \rightarrow D γ$ decays using heavy quark spin symmetry, chiral symmetry Lagrangian, but including also the light vector mesons. Then, we calculate branching ratios $D \rightarrow V γ$. We make some comments on the Cabbibo suppressed decays $D \to ρ/ ωγ$ and the branching ratios of $D \rightarrow P P γ$ decays.
We calculate the radiative decay widths of the $a_0(980)$ and $f_0(980)$ scalar mesons into $ργ$ and $ωγ$ considering the dynamically generated nature of these scalar resonances within the realm of the Chiral Unitary Approach. The main ingredient in the evaluation of the radiative width of the scalar mesons are the loops coming from the decay into their constituent pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar components and the subsequent radiation of the photon. The dominant diagrams with only pseudoscalar mesons in the loops are found to be convergent while the divergence of those with a vector meson in the lo…
The radiative decay of the axial-vector resonances into a pseudoscalar meson and a photon is studied using the vector meson Lagrangian obtained from the hidden gauge symmetry (HGS) formalism. The formalism is well suited to study this problem since it deals with pseudoscalar and vector mesons in a unified way, respecting chiral invariance. We show explicitly the gauge invariance of the set of diagrams that appear in the approach and evaluate the radiative decay width of the a1(1260) and b1(1235) axial vector meson resonances into pi gamma. We also include the contribution of loops involving an…
We present within the Standard Model the exclusive radiative decays B -> K*/rho gamma and B_(s/d) -> gamma gamma in QCD factorization based on the heavy-quark limit m_b >> Lambda_QCD. For the decays with a vector meson in the final state we give results complete to next-to-leading order in QCD.
The radiative meson decays $V\to Pγ$ and $P\to γγ$ are analyzed using the quark triangle diagram. Experimental data yield well determined estimates of the universal quark-antiquark-meson couplings $g_{Vq\bar{q}'}$ and $g_{Pq\bar{q}'}$ for the light meson sector. Also predictions for the ratios of neutral to charged heavy meson decay coupling constants are given and await experimental confirmation.
We address Standard Model predictions for flavor-changing radiative transitions of the pseudoscalar charm mesons. Short-distance contributions in $D$ radiative transitions are contrasted with those in B decays. A full analysis is presented of the $c\to u+γ$ electromagnetic penguin amplitude with QCD radiative corrections included. Given the importance of long-range effects for the charm sector, special attention is paid to such contributions as the vector dominance and pole amplitudes. A number of two-body final states in exclusive charm radiative decays is considered and the corresponding bra…
In this paper, we investigate symmetry breaking effects in strong and radiative decays of heavy mesons. We study $1/m_Q$ corrections within the heavy quark effective theory. These effects are studied in a covariant model for heavy mesons. The numerical results are consistent with the experimental data and some other theoretical calculations. These provide a vote of confidence for the validity of this covariant model.
Electromagnetic interactions are introduced in the effective chiral Lagrangian for heavy mesons which includes light vector particles. A suitable notion of vector meson dominance is formulated. The constraints on the heavy meson -light vector and heavy meson-light pseudoscalar coupling constants are obtained using experimental $D^* \ra D \, γ$ branching ratios. These constraints are compared with values estimated from semi-leptonic transition amplitudes as well as from extension of the light meson coupling pattern. Application to the heavy baryon spectrum in the ``bound state " model is made.
An extended $U(3)_L\bigotimes U(3)_R$ chiral effective field theory which includes pseudoscalar and vector meson nonets as dynamic variables is presented. The theory combines a hidden symmetry approach with a general procedure of including the $η'$ meson into chiral theory, and accounts for $direct$ and $indirect$ symmetry breaking effects via a mechanism based on the quark mass matrix. The theory is applied to anomalous radiative decays using particle mixing schemes, corresponding to different symmetry breaking assumptions and uniquely determined by the lagarngian presumed. Radiative decays o…
We study how the scalar f_0(980) and a_0(980) states are produced in the two-photon collisions and radiative decays of the phi meson through unitarized Born amplitudes with the charged pion and kaon loops followed by S-wave meson-meson scattering amplitudes. We found in a previous paper that f_0(980) is generated as the bound state resonance, but a_0(980) as the cusp, and find herre that the nature of the generation of both states is consistent with the features of the production processes.
We present the formalism for the decay of dynamically generated scalar mesons with open- or hidden-charm and give results for the decay of D^*_{s0} (2317) to γD_s^* plus that of a hidden charm scalar meson state predicted by the theory around 3700 MeV decaying into γJ/ψ.
We investigate the radiative decays of the $ϕ$ meson to the scalar mesons $a_0(980)$ and $f_0(980)$. We demonstrate that, contrary to earlier claims, these decays should be of the same order of magnitude for a molecular state and for a compact state and, therefore, the available experimental information is consistent with both, a molecular as well as a compact structure of the scalars. Thus, the radiative decays of the $ϕ$ meson into scalars establish a sizable $K\bar K$ component of the scalar mesons, but do not allow to discriminate between molecules and compact states.
We present a general discussion of radiative four--meson processes to $O(p^4)$ in chiral perturbation theory. We propose a definition of ``generalized bremsstrahlung'' that takes full advantage of experimental information on the corresponding non--radiative process. We also derive general formulae for one--loop amplitudes which can be applied, for instance, to $η\ra 3πγ$, $ππ\ra ππγ$ and $K \ra 3πγ$.
We calculate the predicted width for the radiative decay of a $1^{++}$ heavy meson via the channel $1^{++} \to 1^{--} +γ$ in the covariant light-front quark model. Specifically, we compute the decay widths for $χ_{c1}(1P) \to J/ψ+ γ$ and $χ_{b1}(nP) \to Υ(n'S) + γ$. The results are compared with experimental data and with predictions from calculations based on nonrelativistic models and their extensions to include relativistic effects.
In this work we study the radiative leptonic decays of $B^-$, $D^-$ and $D_s^-\to γl \barν$, including both the short-distance and long-distance contributions. The short-distance contribution is calculated by using the relativistic quark model, where the bound state wave function we used is that obtained in the relativistic potential model. The long-distance contribution is estimated by using vector meson dominance model.
We investigate the CP violating asymmetry, the forward backward asymmetry and the CP violating asymmetry in the forward-backward asymmetry for the radiative dileptonic B-meson decays $B_{d}\to γ\ell^+ \ell^-$ for the $\ell= e, μ, τ$ channels. It is observed that these asymmetries are quite sizable and $B_{d}\to γ\ell^+ \ell^-$ decays seem promising for investigating CP violation.
We discuss the B-meson light-cone wavefunction relevant for QCD factorization approach for exclusive B-meson decays. We derive the operator product expansion for the B-meson light-cone wavefunction, taking into account the local composite operators of dimension less than 6 and calculating the radiative corrections at order α_s for the corresponding Wilson coefficients. The result embodies peculiar UV and IR behaviors of the B-meson light-cone wavefunction, the Sudakov-type double logarithmic effects and the mixing of the multiparticle states with additional gluons inside the B meson. The forme…
We apply the QCD factorization approach to exclusive, radiative B meson decays in the region of small invariant photon mass. We calculate factorizable and non-factorizable corrections to leading order in the heavy quark mass expansion and next-to-leading order in the strong coupling constant. Phenomenological consequences for the B -> K* gamma decay rate and the B -> K* ell+ ell- forward-backward asymmetry are discussed.
Combining heavy quark effective theory and the chiral Lagrangian approach we investigate radiative decays of pseudoscalar $D$ mesons. We first reanalyse $D^{*} \rightarrow D γ$ decays within the effective Lagrangian approach using heavy quark spin symmetry, chiral symmetry Lagrangian, but including also the light vector mesons. We then investigate $D \rightarrow V γ$ decays and calculate the $D^0 \rightarrow \bar{K}^{*0} γ$ and $D^{s+} \rightarrow ρ^+ γ$ partial widths and branching ratios.
We perform simultaneous calculations of the radiative decays of scalar mesons f_0(980)-> γγ, a_0(980)-> γγ, vector meson ϕ(1020)-> γf_0(980), γa_0(980), γπ^0, γη, γη' and tensor mesons a_2(1320)-> γγ, f_2(1270)-> γγ, f_2(1525)-> γγassuming all these states to be dominantly the q\bar q ones. A good description of the considered radiative decays is reached by using almost the same radial wave functions for scalar and tensor mesons that supports the idea for the f_0(980), a_0(980) and a_2(1320), f_2(1270), f_2(1525) to belong to the same P -wave q\bar q multiplet.
We investigate the radiative B_c -> rho^+ gamma and B_c -> K^{*+} gamma decays in the standard model. The transition form factors are calculated in the framework of the light cone QCD sum rules method. We estimate the branching ratios of the B_c -> rho^+ gamma and B_c -> K^{*+} gamma decays.
In this work, we use the QCD sum rule method to study the radiative decays of the vector and axial-vector $B_c$ mesons to each of three charmed strange mesons, $D_s$, $D^*_s$ and $D_{s1}$, through their dominant weak annihilation channels. We calculate all relevant transition form factors, which are used to estimate the branching fractions at different channels. The order of branching ratios are obtained to be in the order of $ 10^{-6} - 10^{-5} $, which may be checked via differnet experiments.
In this write-up, I summarize the analyses on the low-lying scalar mesons I have done recently with my collaborators. I first briefly review the previous analyses on the hadronic processes related to the scalar mesons, which shows that the scalar nonet takes dominantly the $qq\bar{q}\bar{q}$ structure. Next, I summarize our analysis on the radiative decays involving the scalar mesons, which indicates that it is difficult to distinguish $qq\bar{q}\bar{q}$ picture and $q\bar{q}$ picture just from radiative decays. Finally, I summarize our recent analysis on the $π$-$π$ scattering in the large $N…
In this article, we assume that the $(0^+,1^+)$ strange-bottom mesons are the conventional $b\bar{s}$ mesons, and calculate the electromagnetic coupling constants $d$, $g_1$, $g_2$ and $g_3$ using the light-cone QCD sum rules. Then we study the radiative decays $B_{s0}\to B_s^* γ$, $B_{s1}\to B_s γ$, $B_{s1}\to B_s^* γ$ and $B_{s1}\to B_{s0} γ$, and observe that the widths are rather narrow. We can search for the $(0^+,1^+)$ strange-bottom mesons in the invariant $B_s π^0$ and $B^*_s π^0$ mass distributions in the strong decays or in the invariant $B_s^*γ$ and $B_sγ$ mass distributions in the …
This paper is a prosecution of a previous work where we presented a unified two-fermion covariant scheme which produced very precise results for the masses of light and heavy mesons. We extend the analysis to some radiative decays of mesons $Υ,\,χ_{b2}\,,h_b\,,χ_{b1}\,,χ_{b0}\,,η_b\,$ and we calculate their branching ratios and their widths. For most of them we can make a comparison with experimental data finding a good agreement. For the decays for which data are not available we compare ours with other recent theoretical previsions.
Exclusive weak radiative B meson decays are studied using the covariant oscillator quark model. The branching ratios for the processes B0 to K*0 gamma and B to K* gamma have been estimated. These are in reasonable agreement with the available experimental data. The calculation has been extended to the CKM-suppressed decay processes B- to rho- gamma and Bs to K*0 gamma .
We consider the effects of anomalous magnetic dipole moments of vector mesons in the decay distribution of photons emitted in two-pseudoscalar decays of charged vector mesons. By choosing a kinematical configuration appropriate to isolate these effects from model-dependent and dominant bremsstrahlung contributions, we show that this method can provide a valid alternative for a measurement of the unknown magnetic dipole moments of charged vector mesons.
We present a VMD based model aiming to describe all radiative decays of light mesons. We show that the SU(3) breaking mechanism proposed by Bando, Kugo and Yamawaki (BKY), supplemented by nonet symmetry breaking in the pseudoscalar sector are sufficient to provide a nice description of all data, except the charged K* radiative width. It is also shown that nonet symmetry breaking has effects which cannot be disantangled from those produced by coupling of glue to the eta' meson. Coupling of glue to $η$ is not found to be required by the data. Asssuming the charged K* radiative width is indeed at…
We propose a method to determine the leptonic decay constant $f_{B^*}$ in the infinite heavy quark mass limit from the analysis of the radiative decay mode $B^- \to \ell^- {\bar ν}_\ell γ$. The method relies on HQET symmetries and on experimental data from $D^{*0} \to D^0 γ$.
The phi(1020) radiative decays form a good playground for study of the low-lying a0(980) and f0(980) scalar mesons. The complicated interplay of kaon loop mechanism, isoscalar meson mixing and momentum dependence of the effective couplings manifests itself in the invariant mass distributions in the phi(1020) -> pi0 pi0 gamma and pi eta gamma spectra. These distributions are fitted in framework of Resonance Chiral Theory.
The earlier suggested and developed idea of quark-hadron duality, underlying "bremsstrahlung-weighted" sum rules for total or polarized photon interaction cross sections, is applied to the description of excitation of light scalar mesons in gamma-gamma interactions. The emphasis is put on the discussion of a role of the scalar diquark cluster degrees of freedom in the radiative formation of light scalar mesons.
The present-day experimental situation concerning nucleon form factors in the space-like region shows a substantial discrepancy between measurements via the Rosenbluth method and the recoil polarisation technique. More information about nucleon form factors in the time-like region will not only improve poor experimental knowledge there, but it will also shed light on the situation in the space-like region. The radiative return method is a powerful tool to provide that information using data of B- meson factories.
The result by Burnett-Kroll (BK) states that for radiative decays the interference of ${\cal O}(ω^{-1})$ in the photon energy $ω$, vanishes after sum over polarizations of the involved particles. Using radiative decays of vector mesons we show that if the vector meson is polarized the ${\cal O}(ω^{-1})$ terms are null only for the canonical value of the magnetic dipole moment of the vector meson, namely ${\bf g}=2$ in Bohr's magneton units. A subtle cancellation of all ${\cal O}(ω^{-1})$ terms happens when summing over all polarizations to recover the Burnett-Kroll result. We also show the sou…
In this talk, we present the predictions for a number of radiative decays $B_{(s)}\to Vγ$, with the vector meson in the final state, which proceed through the weak-annihilation mechanism. Within the factorization approximation, we take into account the photon emission from the $B$-meson loop and from the vector-meson loop. The highest branching ratios for the weak-annihilation reactions reported here are ${\cal B}(\bar B^0_s\to J/ψγ)=1.5\cdot 10^{-7}$ and ${\cal B}(B^-\to \bar D_s^{*-}γ)=1.7\cdot 10^{-7}$, the estimated accuracy of these predictions being at the level of 20%.
In the framework of the non relativistic quark model, an exhaustive study of radiative transitions in mesons is performed. The emphasis is put on several points. Some traditional approximations (long wave length limit, non relativistic phase space, dipole approximation for E1 transitions, gaussian wave functions) are analyzed in detail and their effects commented. A complete treatment using three different types of realistic quark-antiquark potential is made. The overall agreement with experimental data is quite good, but some improvements are suggested.
We study the radiative $ϕ\to K^0\bar{K}^0γ$ decay within a phenomenological framework by considering the contributions of the $f_{0}(980)$ and $a_{0}(980)$ scalar resonances. We calculate the branching ratio $B(ϕ\to K^0\bar{K}^0γ)$ by employing the coupling constants $g_{f_0K^{+}K^{-}}$ and $g_{a_0K^{+}K^{-}}$ as determined by different experimental groups.
