In this article, we assume that the $(0^+,1^+)$ strange-bottom mesons are the conventional $b\bar{s}$ mesons, and calculate the electromagnetic coupling constants $d$, $g_1$, $g_2$ and $g_3$ using the light-cone QCD sum rules. Then we study the radiative decays $B_{s0}\to B_s^* γ$, $B_{s1}\to B_s γ$, $B_{s1}\to B_s^* γ$ and $B_{s1}\to B_{s0} γ$, and observe that the widths are rather narrow. We can search for the $(0^+,1^+)$ strange-bottom mesons in the invariant $B_s π^0$ and $B^*_s π^0$ mass distributions in the strong decays or in the invariant $B_s^*γ$ and $B_sγ$ mass distributions in the radiative decays.
With the negative sign for $\sqrt m_s$, the quarks strange, charm and bottom make a Koide tuple. It continues the c-b-t tuple previously found by Rodejohann and Zhang and, more peculiar, it is quasi-orthogonal to the original lepton triplet.
We use the method of QCD Sum Rules to estimate the masses of the charm baryon, $Λ^+_c$, bottom baryon $Λ^0_b$, strange baryon $Λ^0_s$ and compare them to their experimental values.
The strong decay amplitudes and radiative partial widths of orbital and radially excited states of $B$ and $B_s$ mesons are presented. These results are obtained with a nonrelativistic potential quark model, the nonrelativistic reduction of the electromagnetic transition operator, and the "$^3P_0$" model of strong decays. The predictions are compared to experiment where possible and assignments for the recently discovered states, $B_1(5721)$, $B_2^*(5747)$, $B_J(5840)$, $B_J(5970)$, $B_{s1}(5830)$, and $B_{s2}^*(5840)$, are made.
I discuss advances in the determination of strange, charm, and bottom quark parton distribution functions obtained in the CTEQ6.5 and CTEQ6.6 global analyses. These results affect electroweak precision observables and certain new physics searches at the Large Hadron Collider. I focus, in particular, on high-energy implications of the consistent treatment of heavy-quark threshold effects in DIS in the general-mass factorization scheme; an independent parametrization for the strangeness PDF; and the possible presence of nonperturbative ("intrinsic") charm.
We discuss a possible interpretation of the scalar Bs0*(5725) and axial Bs1(5778) bottom-strange mesons as hadronic molecules - bound states of B K and B* K mesons, respectively. Using a phenomenological Lagrangian approach we analyze the strong Bs0* to Bs pi0, Bs1 to Bs* pi0 and the radiative Bs0* to Bs* gamma, Bs1 to Bs gamma, Bs1 to Bs* gamma, Bs1 to Bs0* gamma decays. We give predictions for the decay properties: effective couplings and decay widths.
Recently BESIII collaboration discovered a charged strange hidden-charm state $Z_{cs}$(3985) in the $D_s^-D^{*0} + D_s^{*-}D^{0}$ spectrum. A higher $Z'_{cs}$ state coupling to $\bar{D}_s^{*-}D^{*0}$ is expected by SU(3)-flavor symmetry, and their bottom partners are anticipated by heavy quark flavor symmetry. Here we study the photoproduction of these exotic states and investigate carefully the background from Pomeron exchange. Our results indicate that the maximal photoproduction cross section of strange partner is around 1 $\sim$ 2 orders of magnitude smaller than that of the corresponding …
We enumerated ground and excited state masses of singly heavy bottom-strange baryons using the Hypercentral Constituent Quark Model (hCQM). The screening potential is used with color-Coulomb potential, as the confining potential. We determine the possible $J^P$ values to recently observed excited states like, $Ξ_b(6100)$, $Ξ_b(6227)$, $Ξ_b(6327)$, $Ξ_b(6333)$ and four $Ω_b(6316,6330,6340,6350)$ states. The Regge trajectories are plotted in $(J, M^2)$ plane to assign the $J^P$ values and quantum numbers to recently observed states. Using the calculated spectroscopic data, properties such as mag…
In this paper we investigate an SU(3) extension of the chiral quark-meson model. The spectra of baryons with strangeness, charm and bottom are considered within a "rigid oscillator" version of this model. The similarity between the quark part of the Lagrangian in the model and the Wess-Zumino term in the Skyrme model is noted. The binding energies of baryonic systems with baryon number B=2 and 3 possessing strangeness or heavy flavor are estimated. The results obtained are in good qualitative agreement with those obtained previously in the topological soliton (Skyrme) model.
In this paper the masses and decay processes of several new strange, charmed and bottomed exotic pentaquarks are predicted. Multiquarks are studied microscopically in a standard quark model. In pure ground-state pentaquarks the short-range interaction is computed and it is shown to be repulsive. The long-range and medium-range interactions are not expected to provide sufficient attraction. An additional quark-antiquark pair is then considered, and this is suggested to produce a narrow linear molecular system. The quarks assemble in three hadronic clusters, and the central hadron provides stabi…
We extend the already existing two-loop calculation of the effective bottom-Yukawa coupling in the MSSM. In addition to the resummation of the dominant corrections for large values of tg$β$, we include the subleading terms related to the trilinear Higgs coupling $A_b$ and contributions induced by the electroweak gauge couplings. This calculation has been extended to the NNLO corrections to the MSSM strange-Yukawa coupling. Our analysis leads to residual theoretical uncertainties of the effective Yukawa couplings at the per-cent level.
In the littlest Higgs model with T-parity (LHT) the mirror quarks induce the special flavor structures and some new flavor-changing (FC) couplings which could greatly enhance the production rates of the FC processes. We in this paper study some bottom and anti-strange production processes in the LHT model at the International Linear Collider (ILC), i.e., $e^+e^-\rightarrow b\bar{s}$ and $γγ\rightarrow b\bar{s}$. The results show that the production rates of these processes are sizeable for the favorable values of the parameters. Therefore, it is quite possible to test the LHT model or make som…

We investigate the flavor changing neutral current bsV(V=$γ$,Z) couplings in the production vertex for the process $e^+e^-\to b\bar s or \bar b s$ in the standard model. The precise calculations keeping all quark masses non-zero are carried out. Production cross sections are found to be the order of $10^{-3}$ fb at LEP II and the order of $10^{-1}$ fb when center-of-mass energy is near the mass of neutral gauge boson Z.
The importance of non-perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics [QCD] parameters is discussed in context to the predicting power for bottom meson masses and isospin splitting. In the framework of heavy quark effective theory, the work presented here focuses on the different allowed values of the two non perturbative QCD parameters used in heavy quark effective theory formula and using the best fitted parameter, masses of the excited bottom meson states in JP=(1/2)+ doublet in strange as well as non-strange sector are calculated here. The calculated masses are found to be matching well with experimen…
The in-medium behavior of bottom-strange pseudoscalar mesons in hot, isospin asymmetric and dense hadronic environment is studied using a chiral effective model. The same was recently generalized to the heavy quark sector and employed to study the behavior of open-charm and open-bottom mesons. The heavy quark (anti-quark) is treated as frozen and all medium modifications of these bottom-strange mesons are due to their strange anti-quark (quark) content. We observe a pronounced dependence of their medium mass on baryonic density and strangeness content of the medium. Certain aspects of these in…
In this work, using the covariant light front approach with conventional vertex functions, we estimate the production rates of $D$-wave charmed/charmed-strange mesons via $B_{(s)}$ semileptonic decays. Due to these calculated considerable production rates, it is possible to experimentally search for $D$-wave charmed/charmed-strange mesons via the semileptonic decays, which may provide extra approach to explore $D$-wave charmed/charmed-strange mesons.
In order to understand the possible $q\bar{q}$ quark-model assignments of the $B_J(5840)$ and $B_J(5960)$ recently reported by the LHCb Collaboration, we evaluate mass spectra, strong decays, and radiative decays of bottom and bottom-strange mesons in a nonrelativistic quark model. Comparing these predictions with the relevant experimental results, we suggest that the $B_J(5840)$ and $B_J(5960)$ can be identified as the $B(2^1S_0)$ and $B(1^3D_3)$, respectively, and the $B(5970)$ reported by the CDF Collaboration can be interpreted as the $B(2^3S_1)$ or $B(1^3D_3)$. Further precise measurement…
The analysis of the excited bottom and bottom strange states $B_{1}(5721)$, $B_{2}^{*}(5747)$, $B_{s1}(5830)$, $B_{s2}^{*}(5840)$, $B_{J}(5840)$ and $B_{J}(5970)$ in B meson family
In this paper, we analyzed the experimentally available radially excited charm mesons to predict the similar spectra for the n=2 bottom mesons. In the heavy quark effective theory, we explore the flavor independent parameters to calculate the masses for the experimentally unknown n=2 bottom mesons B(2S), B(2P), Bs(2S) and Bs(2P). We have also analyzed these bottom masses by applying the QCD and 1/mQ corrections to the lagrangian leading to the modification of flavor symmetry parameters as. Further strong decay widths are determined using these calculated masses to check the sensitivity of thes…
The radiative decays of the $(3/2)^+$ baryons are studied in the three flavor generalization of the Skyrme model. The kaon fields are treated in the slow rotator approach which properly accounts for the observed deviations from the $U$-spin relations for the hyperon magnetic moments. This makes possible a critical discussion of the $U$-spin selection rules for the radiative hyperon decays. The variation of the decay widths with strangeness is studied and a comparison with other treatments of the $SU(3)$ Skyrme model is performed in order to analyze the effects of flavor symmetry breaking.
In this article, we perform an systematic study of the radiative transitions among the bottomonium states based on the heavy quarkonium effective theory, and make predictions for the ratios among the radiative decay widths of a special multiplet to another multiplet. The predictions can be confronted with the experimental data in the future.
We analyze the decays $\{h^0,H^0,A^0\}\to \bar{s}b$ within two Higgs Doublet Models with Natural Flavor Conservation (2HDM) type I and II. It is found that the Higgs bosons decay into bottom-strange can lead to a branching ratio in the range $10^{-5}\to 10^{-3}$ for small $\tanβ\approx 0.1\to 0.5$ and rather light charged Higgs in the 2HDM type I. When $\tanβ\ga 1$, one can easily reach a branching ratio of the order $10^{-5}$. In 2HDM type II, without imposing $b\to sγ$ constraint, the situation is the same as in 2HDM type I. If $b\to sγ$ constraint on charged Higgs mass ($M_{H\pm}\geq 350$ G…
Motivated by the recent observation of the orbital excitation $B(5970)$ by CDF collaboration, we have performed a systematical study of the mass spectrum and strong decay patterns of the higher $B$ and $B_s$ mesons. Hopefully the present investigation may provide valuable clues to further experimental exploration of these intriguing excited heavy mesons.
The ground state and first excited state masses of Omega(b) and Omega(bb) baryons are calculated in lattice QCD using dynamical 2+1 flavour gauge fields. A set of baryon operators employing different combinations of smeared quark fields was used in the framework of the variational method. Results for radial excitation energies were confirmed by carrying out a supplementary multiexponential fitting analysis. Comparison is made with quark model calculations.
In-medium properties of the low-lying strange, charm, and bottom baryons in symmetric nuclear matter are studied in the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model. Results for the Lorentz-scalar effective masses, mean field potentials felt by the light quarks in the baryons, in-medium bag radii, and the lowest mode bag eigenvalues are presented for those calculated using the updated data. This study completes the in-medium properties of the low-lying baryons in symmetric nuclear matter in the QMC model, for the strange, charm and bottom baryons which contain one or two strange, one charm or one bottom q…
Flavor changing effects on the processes \tch, \eebs, \eebsh and \ppbs in the LHT model are investigated in this paper. We calculate the one-loop level contributions from the T-parity odd mirror quarks and gauge bosons. The results show that the top quark rare decay \tch in the LHT model can be significantly enhanced relative to that in the SM. The $b\bar{s}$ production at linear colliders in the LHT model can enhance the SM cross section a lot and reach 0.1 fb in some parameter space allowed in the experiment. But the heavy gauge boson and mirror fermion loops have small contribution to the p…
Standard Model $t\bar t$ samples in ATLAS and CMS provide an opportunity to conduct measurements of the polarization of quarks produced in top-quark decays. The bottom quarks from the $t \to W^+ b$ decays, as well as the charm, strange, up and down quarks from the subsequent $W^+ \to c\bar s, u\bar d$ decays, are polarized. When a polarized quark hadronizes to a baryon, its polarization is partly preserved, and is reflected in the angular distributions of the baryon decay products. For the strange and bottom quarks, this effect has already been seen in hadronic $Z$ decays at LEP. In Run 2 of t…
We revisit the nonrelativistic quark model description of electromagnetic radiative decays in bottomonium. We show that even for the simplest spectroscopic quark model the calculated widths can be in good agreement with data once the experimental masses of bottomonium states and the photon energy are properly implemented in the calculation. For transitions involving the lower lying spectral states this implementation can be easily done via the Long Wave Length approximation. For transitions where this approximation does not apply we develop a new method of implementing the experimental energy …
Using the QCD sum rule approach we investigate the possible four-quark structure for the new observed $B_{s}^0π^\pm$ narrow structure (D0). We use a diquak-antidiquark scalar current and work to the order of $m_s$ in full QCD, without relying on $1/m_Q$ expansion. Our study indicates that although it is possible to obtain a stable mass in agreement with the state found by the D0 collaboration, a more constraint analysis (simultaneous requirement of the OPE convergence and the dominance of the pole on the phenomenological side) leads to a higher mass. We also predict the masses of the bottom sc…
We report a measurement of the bottom-strange meson mixing phase β_s using the time evolution of B0_s -> J/ψ(->μ+μ-) ϕ(-> K+ K-) decays in which the quark-flavor content of the bottom-strange meson is identified at production. This measurement uses the full data set of proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt(s)= 1.96 TeV collected by the Collider Detector experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron, corresponding to 9.6 fb-1 of integrated luminosity. We report confidence regions in the two-dimensional space of β_s and the B0_s decay-width difference ΔΓ_s, and measure β_s in [-π/2, -1.51] U [-0.06, 0.30] …
In the framework of nonrelativistic QCD, we study the radiative decays of bottomonia into charmonia, including $Υ\to χ_{cJ}γ$, $Υ\to η_cγ$, $η_b\to J/ψγ$, and $χ_{bJ}\to J/ψγ$. We give predictions for their branching ratios with numerical calculations. E.g., we predict the branching ratio for $η_b\to J/ψγ$ is about $1\times 10^{-7}$. As a phenomenological model study, we further extend our calculation to the radiative decays of bottomonia into light mesons by assuming the $f_2(1270)$, $f_2'(1525)$ and other light mesons to be described by nonrelativistic $q\bar q ~(q=u,d,s)$ bound states with …
In this paper, we investigate three symmetry breaking effects in strong and radiative decays of strange heavy mesons. We study 1/m_Q corrections within the heavy quark effect theory, as well as SU(3) and SU(2) symmetry breakings induced by light quark mass differences and the η-πmixing vertex. These effects are studied in a covariant model. The numerical results show that the 1/m_Q corrections of the coupling constants are consistent with α_s Λ_{QCD}/m_Q. The SU(3) symmetry violating effect of the strong coupling constant is obviously larger than that of the magnetic coupling constant. The val…
The presence of a light b-squark (with mass about 4 GeV) and gluino (with mass about 15 GeV) might explain the observed excess in b-quark production at the Tevatron. Though provocative, this model is not excluded by present data. The light supersymmetric particles can induce large flavor-changing effects in radiative decays of B mesons. We analyse the decays B->X_s gamma and B->X_{sg} in this scenario and derive restrictive bounds on the flavor-changing quark-squark-gluino couplings.
The semileptonic decays $\bar{B}\to D(D^*)π\ell\barν$ are analyzed by heavy quark and chiral symmetries. The branching ratio is of order of a few percent for $\dpi$, but it is much smaller for $\dstar$, of order $10^{-4}-10^{-5}$. The decay mode $B^-\to D^+π^-e^-\barν_e$ provides a nice place for extracting the $D^*Dπ$ coupling constant from the semileptonic decays of a $\bar{B}$ meson. Two types of weak radiative decays of $\bar{B}$ mesons and bottom baryons are studied. The decay $Λ_b^0\to Λ^0γ$ receives the electromagnetic penguin $b\to sγ$ contribution and has a branching ratio of order $2…
We present a progress report on new calculations of B and B_s meson decay constants employing NRQCD heavy and HISQ light valence quarks and using MILC N_f = 2+1 AsqTad lattices. Bare quark masses have been retuned in accord with HPQCD's new r_1 scale. We find significant reductions in discretization effects compared to previous calculations with AsqTad light valence quarks. Matching of the NRQCD/HISQ heavy-light axial vector current is carried out at one-loop order including all relevant dimension 4 current corrections.
Higgs-boson production in association with bottom quarks is an important discovery channel for supersymmetric Higgs particles at hadron colliders for large values of tan(beta). We present the complete O(alpha) electroweak and O(alpha_s) strong corrections to associated bottom-Higgs production through bb fusion in the MSSM and improve this next-to-leading-order prediction by known two-loop contributions to the Higgs self-energies, as provided by the program FeynHiggs. Choosing proper renormalization and input-parameter schemes, the bulk of the corrections (in particular the leading terms for ta…
We study the weak radiative decays of ${\bf B}_b \to {\bf B}_n γ$ with ${\bf B}_{b(n)} $ the anti-triplet-bottom (octet) baryons in the light front quark model. We obtain that ${\cal B}(Λ_b \to Λγ)= (7.1 \pm 0.3 )\times 10 ^{-6}$, which agrees well with the current experimental value of $(7.1 \pm 1.7 )\times 10 ^{-6}$. We predict that ${\cal B}(Ξ_b^0 \to Ξ^0 γ)= (1.0 \pm 0.1 )\times 10 ^{-5}$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_b^- \to Ξ^- γ) = (1.1 \pm 0.1) \times 10^{-5}$, which are consistent with the latest upper limits set by the LHCb collaboration. In addition, we find that the $SU(3)_F$ flavor symmetry bre…
Radiative decays of bottomonium are revisited, focusing on contributions from higher-order relativistic effects. The leading relativistic correction to the magnetic spin-flip operator at the photon vertex is found to be particularly important. The combination of O(v^6) effects in the nonrelativistic QCD action and in the transition operator moves previous lattice results for excited Upsilon decays into agreement with experiment.
The masses of open bottom mesons ($B$($B^+$,$B^0$), $\bar{B}$($B^-$,$\bar{B^0}$), $B_s$(${B_{s}}^0$, $\bar{{B_s}^0}$)) and upsilon states ($Υ(1S)$, $Υ(2S)$, $Υ(3S)$, $Υ(4S)$, and $Υ(1D)$) are investigated in the isospin asymmetric strange hadronic medium at finite temperature in the presence of strong magnetic fields using a chiral effective Lagrangian approach. For charged baryons, the magnetic field introduces contribution from Landau energy levels. The masses of the open bottom mesons get modified through their interactions with the baryons and the scalar mesons, which undergo modifications…
In this article, the three point QCD sum rules is used to compute the strong coupling constants of vertices containing the strange bottomed ( charmed ) mesons with pion. The coupling constants are calculated, when both the bottom ( charm ) and pion states are off-shell. A comparison of the obtained results of coupling constants with the existing predictions is also made. Key words: strong coupling constant, meson, QCD sum rules, bottom, charm.
A calculation is presented of the radiative decay of the Upsilon(nS) into a bound state of bottom squarks. Predictions are provided of the branching fraction as a function of the masses of the bottom squark and the gluino. Branching fractions as large as several times 10^{-4} are obtained for supersymmetric particle masses in the range suggested by the analysis of bottom-quark production cross sections. Data are shown that limit the range of allowed masses. Forthcoming high-statistics data from the CLEO Collaboration offer possibilities of discovery or significant new bounds on the existence a…
Inspired by the LHCb's newest observation of two new excited $Ξ_b^0$ states, we systematically study the strong decays of the low-lying $λ$- and $ρ$-modes $1D$-wave $Ξ_{b}$ and $Ξ^{'}_{b}$ baryons using the chiral quark model within the $j$-$j$ coupling scheme. Based on the measured masses and strong decay properties of $Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0}$ and $Ξ_{b}(6333)^{0}$, we explain the two states as the $λ$-mode $1D$ $Ξ_{b}$ states with $ J^{P}=3/2^{+} $ and $ J^{P}=5/2^{+} $, respectively. Moreover, under this assignment, another dominant decay channel of $Ξ_{b}(6327)^{0}$ is $Ξ'_bπ$ and that of $Ξ_{b}(…
In this work we study the radiative decay widths of vector quarkonia for the process of $J/ψ(nS)\rightarrowη_{c}(nS)γ$ and $Υ(nS)\rightarrowη_{b}(nS)γ$ (for principal quantum numbers $n=1, 2, 3$) in the framework of Bethe-Salpeter equation under the covariant instantaneous ansatz using a $4\times 4$ form of BSE. The parameters of the framework were determined by a fit to the mass spectrum of ground states of pseudoscalar and vector quarkonia, such as; $η_{c}$, $η_{b}$, $J/ψ$ and $Υ$. These input parameters so fixed were found to give good agreements with data on mass spectra of ground and exci…
The large observed mixing angle in atmospheric neutrinos, coupled with Grand Unification, motivates the search for a large mixing between right-handed strange and bottom squarks. Such mixing does not appear in the standard CKM phenomenology, but may induce significant b to s transitions through gluino diagrams. Working in the mass eigenbasis, we show quantitatively that an order one effect on CP violation in B_d to phi+K_S is possible due to a large mixing between right-handed b and s squarks, while still satisfying constraints from b to s + gamma. We also include the effect of right- and left…
In this work, the strong decay behaviors of the $λ-$mode low-lying $Ξ_{b}$ and $Ξ_{b}^\prime$ baryons are investigated within the $^3P_0$ model. Our results suggest that all of the low-lying $\bar 3_F$ states $Ξ_b(2S)$, $Ξ_b(1P)$, and $Ξ_b(1D)$ have small decay widths of less than 20 MeV, and these states have good potentials to be observed in the $Ξ_b^\prime π$ and $Ξ_b^{\prime *} π$ invariant masses. Further, most of the $6_F$ multiplets are relatively narrow and may decay into the $Ξ_b π$, $Ξ_b^\prime π$, $Ξ_b^{\prime *} π$, and $Λ_b \bar K$ final states. Considering the masses and strong d…
The lightest hidden-bottom tetraquarks in the dynamical diquark model fill an $S$-wave multiplet consisting of 12 isomultiplets. We predict their masses and dominant bottomonium decay channels using a simple 3-parameter Hamiltonian that captures the core fine-structure features of the model, including isospin dependence. The only experimental inputs needed are the corresponding observables for $Z_b(10610)$ and $Z_b(10650)$. The mass of $X_b$, the bottom analogue to $X(3872)$, is highly constrained in this scheme. In addition, using lattice-calculated potentials we predict the location of the c…
