It is shown that the gauge fixings of the Z and the W fields and three scalars are via nonconserved axial-vector and charged vector currents of massive fermions dynamically generated by fermion masses in the SM of EW interactions. The top quark mass provides enough strength for this chiral symmetry breaking. The masses of the three scalars are determined to be about $10^{14}$ GeV. These scalars have negative probability. They are the nonperturbative solutions of the SM. A new perturbation theory with dynamically generated and fixed gauge fixings is constructed. The Faddeev-Popov procedure is not invoked.
This summary discusses some of the topics which were of overarching interest at the Symposium. These included, corrections to perturbative QCD predictions; heavy quark physics; electroweak symmetry breaking; and physics of the top quark.
The combined large N_c and heavy quark limit for baryons containing a single heavy quark is discussed. The combined large N_c and heavy quark expansion of the heavy quark bilinear operators is obtained. In the combined expansion the corrections proportional to m_N/m_Q are summed to all orders. In particular, the combined expansion can be used to determine semileptonic form factors of heavy baryons in the combined limit.
The 1999 precision electroweak data from LEP and SLC persist in showing some slight discrepancies from the assumed standard model, mostly regarding $b$ and $c$ quarks. We show how their mixing with exotic heavy quarks could result in a more consistent fit of all the data, including two unconventional interpretations of the top quark.
General formulas as well as leading asymptotics for corrections to Z- and W-boson parameters are derived. Experimental data fits in Standard Model and its extensions are discussed and results are presented.
The apparent absence of new heavy states at the LHC below the TeV scale points that there is a gap in the electroweak energy spectrum. This scenario is conveniently described through the electroweak effective theory, an effective description that contains the Standard Model fields and symmetries. A generic non-linear realization of the electroweak symmetry breaking pattern $SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R \to SU(2)_{L+R}$ with a singlet Higgs is adopted, with no assumption about how it couples to the Standard Model. To seek for heavy particles, we formulate the electroweak resonance theory as the most…
New heavy particles in an SU(2)_L multiplet, sometimes introduced in extensions of the standard model, have highly degenerate tree-level mass M if their couplings to the Higgs bosons are very small or forbidden. However, loop corrections may generate the gauge-symmetry-breaking mass splitting within the multiplet, which does not vanish in the large M limit due to the threshold singularity. We calculate the electroweak contribution to the mass splitting for a heavy fermion multiplet, to the two-loop order. Numerically, two-loop electroweak contributions are typically O(MeV).
We present a general formalism that uses the point form of relativistic Hamiltonian dynamics to describe the electroweak structure of heavy-light mesons within constituent quark models. We study the heavy quark limit (i.e. $m_Q\to \infty$) and check that the predictions of heavy quark symmetry are satisfied. A simple analytic expressions is given for the Isgur-Wise function. In addition, cluster properties and the relation of our approach to front form calculations are discussed.
We study the electroweak interactions within the standard electroweak theory in the case where the Higgs particle is heavy, namely, $M_H \leq 1\;TeV$. By integrating out the Higgs boson to one loop we find the complete effective lagrangian, called electroweak chiral lagrangian, that is $SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y$ invariant and contains the whole set of operators up to dimension four. The values of the chiral parameters representing the non-decoupling effects of the heavy Higgs are presented. Some examples have been chosen to show the applicability of this effective lagrangian approach to compute ph…
The aim of the thesis is to study models of the electroweak symmetry breaking caused by dynamically generated masses of quarks and leptons. (1) We perform the basic analysis whether the main underlying idea, that the masses of only known fermions can provide the electroweak symmetry breaking, is actually feasible. For that we elaborate a two-composite-Higgs-doublet model of the top-quark and neutrino condensation. The model suggests rather large number, $\mathcal{O}(100)$, of right-handed neutrinos. (2) We analyze the model of strong Yukawa dynamics where the dynamical fermion mass generation …
The couplings of the electroweak effective theory contain information on the heavy-mass scales which are no-longer present in the low-energy Lagrangian. We build a general effective Lagrangian, implementing the electroweak chiral symmetry breaking $SU(2)_L\otimes SU(2)_R\to SU(2)_{L+R}$, which couples the known particle fields to heavier states with bosonic quantum numbers $J^P=0^\pm$ and $1^\pm$. We consider colour-singlet heavy fields that are in singlet or triplet representations of the electroweak group. Integrating out these heavy scales, we analyze the pattern of low-energy couplings amo…
We derive logarithmically enhanced two-loop virtual electroweak corrections for arbitrary fermion-scattering processes at the TeV scale. This extends results previously obtained for massless fermion scattering to processes that involve also bottom and top quarks. The contributions resulting from soft, collinear, and ultraviolet singularities in the complete electroweak Standard Model are explicitly extracted from two-loop diagrams to next-to-leading-logarithmic accuracy including all effects associated with symmetry breaking and Yukawa interactions.
We present the Higgs mechanism in the context of the EW-scale $ν_R$ model in which electroweak symmetry is dynamically broken by condensates of mirror quark and right-handed neutrino through the exchange of one fundamental Higgs doublet and one fundamental Higgs triplet, respectively. The formation of these condensates is dynamically investigated by using the Schwinger-Dyson approach. The occurrence of these condensates will give rise to the rich Higgs spectrum. In addition, the VEVs of Higgs fields is also discussed in this dynamical phenomenon.
Taking into account the negative results of direct searches for beyond the Standard Model fields and the consequent mass gap between Standard Model and possible unknown states, the use of electroweak effective theories is justified. Whereas at low energies we consider a non-linear realization of the electroweak symmetry breaking with a singlet Higgs and a strongly-coupled ultraviolet completion, at higher energies the known particles are assumed to be coupled to heavy states: bosonic fields with $J^P=0^\pm$ and $J^P=1^\pm$ (in electroweak triplets or singlets and in QCD octets or singlets) and…
If electroweak dynamical symmetry breaking is due to a chiral condensate of color sextet quarks, dynamics analagous to ``walking technicolor'' will enhance the condensate by orders of magnitude compared to the electroweak chiral scale. This enhancement compensates for the exponential suppression of electroweak scale color instanton interactions. As a result the $η_6$ axion can naturally aquire an electroweak scale mass.
As a first step towards the construction of a general electroweak effective Lagrangian incorporating heavy states, we present here a simplified version where only vector and axial-vector spin-1 triplets are involved. We adopt an effective field theory formalism, implementing the electroweak chiral symmetry breaking SU(2)L x SU(2)R -> SU(2)L+R, which couples the heavy states to the SM fields. At low energies, the heavy degrees of freedom are integrated out from the action and their effects are hidden in the low-energy couplings of the Electroweak Effective Theory, which can be tested experiment…
A heavy fourth generation with a mass of the order of 400 GeV or more could trigger dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking by forming condensates through the exchange of a fundamental Higgs scalar doublet. The dynamics leading to these condensates is studied within the framework of the Schwinger-Dyson equation. This scenario leads to the presence of {\em three} (two composite and one fundamental) Higgs doublets, with interesting phenomenological implications. In addition, this dynamical phenomenon occurs in the vicinity of the energy scale where the restoration of scale symmetry might happen.
In electroweak theory without elementary Higgs scalars existence of a solution, which breaks initial symmetry is shown. A composite scalar doublet serves as a substitute for usual Higgs. The mass of the surviving Higgs scalar is predicted to be $M_H = 117 \pm 7 GeV$. The resulting theory contains realistic $W, Z, t$ masses and composite massive Higgs. Parameters used are $g$, $θ_W$, cut-off $Λ\simeq 3500 GeV$ and triple gauge constant $λ_V \simeq -0.034$. Stable nontrivial solution for extra interactions of the Higgs particle gives contribution to muon $g-2$: $Δa = 49.4\cdot 10^{-10}$ that agr…
We consider the physics of an extra $U(1)$ gauge boson $Z'$, which can mix with $Z$ through intermediate fermion loops. The loop contribution due to the heavy top quark significantly affects the low-energy observables, and for $m_{Z'}>m_Z$, one can always adjust the shifts in these observables to be in the right direction suggested by experiments, when we impose the anomaly cancellation conditions for $Z'$.
We consider, in the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard model, the case where the gravitino weighs 10^6 GeV or more, which is preferred by various cosmological difficulties associated with unstable gravitinos. Despite the large Higgs mixing parameter B together with the little hierarchy to other soft supersymmetry breaking masses, a light higgsino with an electroweak scale mass leads to successful electroweak symmetry breaking, at the price of fine-tuning the higgsino mixing mu parameter. Furthermore the light higgsinos produced at the decays of gravitinos can constitute the dark ma…
The fit of precision electroweak data to the Minimal Standard Model currently gives an upper limit on the Higgs boson mass of 170 GeV at 95% confidence. Nevertheless, it is often said that the Higgs boson could be much heavier in more general models. In this paper, we critically review models that have been proposed in the literature that allow a heavy Higgs boson consistent with the precision electroweak constraints. All have unusual features, and all can be distinguished from the Minimal Standard Model either by improved precision measurements or by other signatures accessible to next-genera…
Using effective field theory methods, we integrate out the standard model Higgs boson to one loop and represent its non-decoupling effects by a set of gauge invariant effective operators of the electroweak chiral Lagrangian. We briefly discuss the relation between the renormalization of both the standard model and the effective theory, which is crucial for a correct understanding and use of the electroweak chiral Lagrangian. Some examples have been chosen to show the applicability of this effective Lagrangian approach in the calculation of low energy observables in electroweak theory.

Applying effective Lagrangian method and on-shell scheme, we analyze the electroweak corrections to anomalous dipole moments of lepton from some special two loop diagrams in which a closed heavy fermion loop is attached to the virtual gauge bosons or Higgs fields. As the masses of virtual fermions in inner loop are much heavier than the electroweak scale, we verify the final results satisfying the decoupling theorem explicitly if the interactions among Higgs and heavy fermions do not contain the nondecoupling couplings. At the decoupling limit, we also present the leading corrections to lepton…
Applying effective Lagrangian method and on-shell scheme, we analyze the electroweak corrections to the rare decay $b\rightarrow s+γ$ from some special two loop diagrams in which a closed heavy fermion loop is attached to the virtual charged gauge bosons or Higgs. At the decoupling limit where the virtual fermions in inner loop are much heavier than the electroweak scale, we verify the final results satisfying the decoupling theorem explicitly when the interactions among Higgs and heavy fermions do not contain the nondecoupling couplings. Adopting the universal assumptions on the relevant coup…
Extensions of the Standard Model often come with additional, possibly electroweakly charged Higgs states, the prototypal example being the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model. While collider phenomenology does not exclude the possibility for some of these new scalar fields to be light, it is relatively natural to consider masses in the multi-TeV range, in which case the only remaining light Higgs boson automatically receives SM-like properties. The appearance of a hierarchy between the new-physics states and the electroweak scale then leads to sizable electroweak corrections, e. g. in the decays of the he…
We analyze heavy states from generic ultraviolet completions of the Standard Model in a model-independent way and investigate their implications on the low-energy couplings of the electroweak effective theory. We build a general effective Lagrangian, implementing the electroweak symmetry breaking $SU(2)_L\otimes SU(2)_R\to SU(2)_{L+R}$ with a non-linear Nambu-Goldstone realization, which couples the known particles to the heavy states. We generalize the formalism developed in previous works~[1,2] to include colored resonances, both of bosonic and fermionic type. We study bosonic heavy states w…
One way to detect the presence of new particles in theories beyond the standard model is through their contribution to electroweak loop effects. We comment on the importance of a consistent inclusion of their mixing angles to ensure that the physical requirement of heavy particle decoupling is fulfilled. We illustrate our points by a detailed discussion of the lepton flavor changing effect mu-e-gamma, investigated recently by Kitano, in the Randall-Sundrum model. Our remarks are equally applicable to models with large compactified dimensions where bulk neutrinos are introduced to account for t…
The process e+e- --> mu+ mu- + missing E_T, where the missing energy is due to the production of a tower of invisible graviton states in a model with large extra dimensions, is considered. We focus on the scenario when this process is used to detect a heavy dileptonic resonance in the electroweak sector of the model, taking as example some models with an extra Z' boson. It turns out that at a 500 GeV machine with 1000 inverse fb of luminosity, it may be possible to use this process to such detect resonances if there are two large extra dimensions and the string scale is not too far above a TeV…
We point out that heavy fermion production through the fusion of the longitudinal gauge bosons might be relevant in probing the strongly interacting symmetry breaking sector of the electroweak interactions, by showing the dependence of the one loop amplititude for ($ w^{+} w^{-} \rightarrow \overline{t} t $) on the symmetry breaking mechanism. The one loop amplitude for ($ w^{+} w^{-} \rightarrow \overline{t} t $) is calculated for the standard model and extended technicolour theory. Techni-rho meson exchange is also briefly discussed. We find at $m_{t} = 150 ~GeV$ the cross section of top pai…
We study large top quark mass effects on low energy physics in the chiral Lagrangian formulated electroweak theories. We show that these radiative corrections can be easily obtained from a set of Feynman diagrams involving only the scalar Goldstone bosons and the fermions when the contributions of the order $g$ (the weak coupling) are ignored. Using CERN LEP and SLAC Linear Collider (SLC) data we constrain on the nonstandard couplings, which might originate from the spontaneous symmetry-breaking sector, of the top quark to the electroweak gauge bosons.
The existence of a mass gap between the Standard Model (SM) and possible new states encourages us to use effective field theories. Here we follow the non-linear realization of the electroweak symmetry breaking: the electroweak effective theory (EWET), also known as Higgs effective field theory (HEFT) or electroweak chiral Lagrangian (EWChL). At short distances an effective resonance Lagrangian which couples the SM states to bosonic and fermionic resonances is considered. After integrating out the resonances and assuming a well-behaved high-energy behavior, we estimate or bound purely bosonic l…
The role of Higgs sector of the standard model in first order phase transition is reexamined. It is found that a solution to the mass gap equations exist which can be used in higher orders. This possible solution leads to a transition which is found to be strongly first order and the ratio of the critical scaler field and the critical temperature is about 1.2 for a Higgs of mass around 400 GeV.This can explain baryogenesis.
Standard-model fields and their associated electroweak Lagrangian are equivalently expressed in a shared spin basis. The scalar-vector terms are written with scalar-operator components acting on quark-doublet elements, and shown to be parametrization-invariant. Such terms, and the t- and b-quark Yukawa terms are linked by the identification of the common mass-generating Higgs operating upon the other fields, after acquiring a vacuum expectation value $v$. Thus, the customary vector masses are related to the fermions', fixing the t-quark mass $m_t$ with the relation $m^2_t+m^2_b=v^2/2$ either f…
A brief overview of the recent measurements of the branching ratio of the rare $K_L^0 \to μ^+ μ^-$ decay in the context of their agreement with the Standard Model (SM) is given. It is shown that KEK result well correlates with the SM and B-physics, whereas the BNL results are in conflict with the SM with the heavy top quark.
We present a general relativistic framework for the calculation of the electroweak structure of heavy-light mesons within constituent-quark models. To this aim the physical processes in which the structure is measured, i.e. electron-meson scattering and semileptonic weak decays, are treated in a Poincaré invariant way by making use of the point-form of relativistic quantum mechanics. The electromagnetic and weak meson currents are extracted from the 1-$γ$ and 1-$W$-exchange amplitudes that result from a Bakamjian-Thomas type mass operator for the respective systems. The covariant decomposition…
We compute the contribution of order $α_S^2α^2$ to the cross section of a top-antitop pair in association with at least one heavy Standard Model boson -- $Z$, $W^\pm$, and Higgs -- by including all effects of QCD, QED, and weak origin and by working in the automated MadGraph5_aMC@NLO framework. This next-to-leading order contribution is then combined with that of order $α_S^3α$, and with the two dominant lowest-order ones, $α_S^2α$ and $α_Sα^2$, to obtain phenomenological results relevant to a 8, 13, and 100~TeV $pp$ collider.
A model is presented in which O(10 TeV) stop masses, typically required by the Higgs boson mass in supersymmetric models, do not originate from soft supersymmetry breaking terms that would drive the Higgs mass squared parameter to large negative values but rather from the mixing with vectorlike partners. Their contribution to the Higgs mass squared parameter is reduced to threshold corrections and, thus, it is one loop suppressed compared to usual scenarios. New fermion and scalar partners of the top quark with O(10 TeV) masses are predicted.
We evaluate the impact of heavy-quark masses on transverse momentum distributions of W, Z, and supersymmetric neutral Higgs bosons at the Tevatron and LHC. The masses of charm and bottom quarks act as non-negligible momentum scales at small transverse momentum, and affect resummation of soft and collinear radiation. We point out inconsistencies in the treatment of heavy-flavor channels at small transverse momentum in massless factorization schemes, and formulate small transverse momentum resummation in a general-mass variable flavor number factorization scheme. The improved treatment of the qu…
We consider the Standard Model as an effective theory at the weak scale $v$ of a generic new strong interaction that dynamically breaks electroweak symmetry at the energy scale $Λ\sim $ (few) TeV. Assuming only the minimal field content with the Standard Model fermions and gauge bosons, but without a light Higgs particle, we construct the complete Lagrangian through next-to-leading order, that is, including terms of order $v^2/Λ^2$. The systematics behind this expansion is clarified. Although similar to chiral perturbation theory, it is not governed by the dimension of operators alone, but dep…
We show that weak scale vector-like fermions with order one couplings to the Higgs can lead to a novel mechanism for a strongly first-order electroweak phase transition (EWPhT), through their tendency to drive the Higgs quartic coupling negative. These same fermions could also enhance the loop-induced branching fraction of the Higgs into two photons, as suggested by the recent discovery of a ~125 GeV Higgs-like state at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Our results suggest that measurements of the diphoton decay rate of the Higgs and its self coupling, at the LHC or perhaps at a future lep…
The fine-tuning principles are analyzed in search for estimations of heavy particle masses in the left-right (LR) symmetric model. The modification of Veltman condition based on the hypothesis of the compensation between fermion and boson vacuum energies within the LR Model multiplets is proposed. The hypothesis is supplied with the requirement of the stability under rescaling. With regard to these requirements the necessity of existence of right-handed Majorana neutrinos with masses of order of right-handed gauge bosons is shown and estimations on the top-quark mass which are in a good agreem…
The recent announcement of a discovery of a possible Higgs-like particle -its spin and parity is yet to be determined- at the LHC with a mass of 126 GeV necessitates a fresh look at the nature of the electroweak symmetry breaking, in particular if this newly-discovered particle will turn out to have the quantum numbers of a Standard Model Higgs boson. Even if it were a $0^+$ scalar with the properties expected for a SM Higgs boson, there is still the quintessential hierarchy problem that one has to deal with and which, by itself, suggests a new physics energy scale around 1 TeV. This article p…
We calculate the electroweak corrections of the order $O({m_t^2\over v^2})$ to the QCD production of $t\bar{t}$ pairs via $q+qbar->t+tbar$ at hadron colliders and show that these corrections to the total production rate are small. This correction can be characterized as increasing the cross section most near the threshold region, where top quark signals are important, while the corrections become negative at higher $t\bar{t}$ energies where the top quark is a background for heavy Higgs boson searches or investigations involving the strongly interacting longitudinal $W$ system. The polarization…
Models of type I seesaw can be implemented at the electroweak scale in a natural way provided that the heavy neutrino singlets are quasi-Dirac particles. In such case, their contribution to light neutrino masses has the suppression of a small lepton number violating parameter, so that light neutrino masses can arise naturally even if the seesaw scale is low and the heavy neutrino mixing is large. We implement the same mechanism with fermionic triplets in type III seesaw, deriving the interactions of the new quasi-Dirac neutrinos and heavy charged leptons with the SM fermions. We then study the…
We investigate the associated production of heavy quarkonia, with angular-momentum quantum numbers ^{2S+1}L_J = ^1S_0, ^3S_1, ^1P_1, ^3P_J (J = 0, 1, 2), and photons, Z bosons, and W bosons in photon-photon, photon-hadron, and hadron-hadron collisions within the factorization formalism of nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics providing all contributing partonic cross sections in analytic form. In the case of photoproduction, we also include the resolved-photon contributions. We present numerical results for the processes involving J/psi and chi_{cJ} mesons appropriate for the Fermilab Tevatro…
The dominant electroweak corrections to the production cross sections and partial decay widths of a light Standard-Model Higgs boson, with mass M_H << 2m_t, are due to top-quark loops. By means of a low-energy theorem, we study at the two-loop level the leading shifts in the Higgs-boson couplings to pairs of light fermions and gauge bosons induced by a sequential isodoublet of high-mass fermions. For tree-level and loop-induced Higgs-boson couplings, these corrections are of relative orders O(G_mu^2 m_F^4) and O(G_mu m_F^2), respectively, where m_F represents a generic heavy-fermion mass, with…
We study the heavy neutral scalar decays into standard model electroweak gauge bosons in the context of the Littlest Higgs model. We focus our attention on the $Φ^0 \to WW, γV$ processes induced at the one-loop level, with $V=γ, Z$. Since the branching ratios of the $Φ^0 \to γV$ decays result very suppressed, only the $Φ^0 \to WW$ process is analyzed in the framework of possible experimental scenarios by using heavy scalar masses between 1.6 TeV until 3.3 TeV. The branching ratio for the $Φ^0 \to WW$ decay is of the order of $10^{-3}$ throughout the interval 2 TeV $< f <$ 4 TeV, which represen…
I consider the low energy limit of Little Higgs models. The method consists in eliminating the heavy fields using their classical equations of motion in the infinite mass limit. After the elimination of the heavy degrees of freedom one can directly read off deviations from the precision electroweak data. I also examine the effects on the low energy precision experiments.
We present a unified picture of flavor and electroweak symmetry breaking based on a nonlinear sigma model spontaneously broken at the TeV scale. Flavor and Higgs bosons arise as pseudo-Goldstone modes. Explicit collective symmetry breaking yields stable vacuum expectation values and masses protected at one loop by the little-Higgs mechanism. The coupling to the fermions generates well-definite mass textures--according to a U(1) global flavor symmetry--that correctly reproduce the mass hierarchies and mixings of quarks and leptons. The model is more constrained than usual little-Higgs models be…

We analyse the sensitivity of the proposed Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) to the existence of beyond the Standard Model (SM) Higgs bosons through their decays into pairs of massive gauge bosons $H \to VV$ and SM-like Higgses $H \to hh$, considering CLIC centre of mass energies $\sqrt{s} = 1.4$ TeV and $3$ TeV. We find that resonant di-Higgs searches at CLIC would allow for up to two orders of magnitude improvement w.r.t. the sensitivity achievable by HL-LHC in the mass range $m_H \in [250\,\mathrm{GeV},\, 1 \,\mathrm{TeV}]$. Focusing then on a real singlet extension of the SM, we explore the p…
The production of weak gauge bosons in association with heavy flavored mesons at the LHCb conditions is considered, and a detailed study of the different contributing processes is presented including single (SPS) and double (DPS) parton scattering mechanisms. We find that the usual DPS factorization formula needs to be corrected for the limited partonic phase space, and that including the relevant corrections reduces discrepancies in the associated $ZD$ production. We conclude finally that double parton scattering dominates the production of same-sign $W^\pm D^\pm$ states, as well as the produ…
At proton colliders, Higgs particles are dominantly produced in the gluon--gluon fusion mechanism. The Higgs--gluons coupling is mediated by heavy quark loops, and the process can serve to count the number of heavy strongly interacting particles whose masses are generated by the Higgs mechanism. We present the two--loop leading electroweak radiative correction to this coupling, which is quadratically proportional to the heavy quark masses. It turns out thatthis correction is well under control across the physically interesting quark mass ranges.
We investigate the possibility that baryogenesis occurs during the weak phase transition in a minimal extension of the Standard Model which contains extra neutral leptons and conserves total lepton number. The necessary CP-violating phases appear in the leptonic Yukawa couplings. We compute the CP-asymmetries in both the neutral and the charged lepton fluxes reflected on the bubble wall. Using present experimental bounds on the mixing angles and Standard Model estimates for the parameters related to the scalar potential, we conclude that it seems unlikely to produce the observed baryon to entr…
The most general chiral Lagrangian for electroweak interactions with the complete set of $SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y$ invariant operators up to dimension four is considered. The two-point and three-point functions with external gauge fields are derived from this effective chiral Lagrangian to one-loop order in a generic $R_ξ$-gauge. The same set of Green's functions are paralelly studied in the renormalizable standard model to one-loop order, in a $R_ξ$-gauge and in the large Higgs mass limit. An appropriate set of matching conditions connecting the Green's functions of the two theories allows us to…
We discuss a class of technically-natural UV extensions of the Standard Model in which the electroweak scale is shielded from large radiative corrections from heavy UV physics due to an enhanced Poincare symmetry. Such heavy sectors can be invoked to provide solutions to known shortcomings of the Standard Model, such the strong-CP problem, the absence of dark matter, and the lack of neutrino masses. We discuss the relationship to scale-invariant models.
We summarize and discuss some of the experimental and theoretical results on heavy flavor, quarkonia, and electro-weak probes presented at Quark Matter 2012.
