We review the present electroweak precision data constraints on the mediators of the three types of see-saw mechanisms. Except in the see-saw mechanism of type I, with the heavy neutrino singlets being mainly produced through their mixing with the Standard Model leptons, LHC will be able to discover or put limits on new scalar (see-saw of type II) and lepton (see-saw of type III) triplets near the TeV. If discovered, it may be possible in the simplest models to measure the light neutrino mass and mixing properties that neutrino oscillation experiments are insensitive to.
We consider feasibility of electroweak baryogenesis in gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking models with messenger-matter mixing. We present a class of models where electroweak baryogenesis produces sufficient amount of baryon asymmetry. The main features of these models are ({\it i}) large mixing between messengers and right stop and ({\it ii}) fairly narrow region of viable $\tanβ$.
We introduce the idea of bosonic see-saw mechanism in analogy with the see-saw mechanism. Bosonic see-saw is a new symmetry breaking mechanism and we apply it to explain electroweak symmetry breaking as an inevitable consequence of supersymmetry breaking. The breaking of electroweak symmetry occurs at tree level once supersymmetry is broken. Absence of color/charge breaking in this model is related to doublet-triplet splitting in grand unified theory. An extension of MSSM with a weak triplet shows very interesting results especially when mu =0. It provides the most natural understanding of why…
In the Type I see-saw model, the naturalness requirement that corrections to the electroweak $μ$ parameter not exceed 1 TeV results in a rough bound on the lightest right-handed neutrino mass, $M_{N_1}\lesssim 3\times 10^7$ GeV. In this letter we derive generic bounds applicable in any three-flavour Type I see-saw model. We find $M_{N_1}\lesssim 4\times 10^7$ GeV and $M_{N_2}\lesssim 7\times 10^7$ GeV. In the limit of one massless neutrino, there is no naturalness bound on $M_{N_3}$ in the Poincare protected decoupling limit. Our results confirm that no Type I see-saw model can explain the obs…
We propose a new framework for understanding the hierarchies of fermion masses and mixings. The masses and mixings of all Standard Model (SM) charged fermions other than top arise from higher dimensional operators involving a messenger scalar S and flavon scalars F_i. The flavons spontaneously break SM flavor symmetries at around the TeV scale. The SM singlet scalar S couples directly to the Higgs H and spontaneously breaks another U(1) at the electroweak scale. At the TeV scale, SM quarks and charged leptons have renormalizable couplings to S, but not to H or F_i. These couplings involve new …
A version of M-theory phenomenology is proposed in which the symmetry is based on the group $SO(10) \times SO(10) \times SO(10) \times U(1) \times U(1)$. Each SO(10) group acts on a single generation. The $U(1) \times U(1)$ is regarded as the hidden sector symmetry group. The supersymmetry is broken in the hidden sector by the Fayet-Iliopoulos $D$-term for each group. The $D$-term is needed also to circumvent the powerful non-renormalization theorem since the $SO(10) \times SO(10) \times SO(10)$ is broken down to the usual SO(10) by the pair condensation of certain messenger sector multiplets.…
We study the Minimal Messenger Model, a minimal version of Gauge Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking models. Boundary conditions equal to zero for trilinear and bilinear soft parameters at the messenger scale make this model free from the supersymmetric CP problem and extremely predictive. These boundary conditions and the vicinity of the messenger scale to the electroweak one, require a careful implementation of the mechanism of radiative breaking of $SU(2)\times U(1)$. We assess the importance of considering the complete one-loop effective potential and of including a set of logarithmic two-loop…
We propose a simple, testable, SU(5) model within the context of the type II neutrino see-saw mechanism. It is based on requiring renormalizability, the absence of any other matter fields besides those already present in the Standard Model and consistency with all experimental data. These "minimal" requirements, together with group-theoretical considerations, uniquely determine the model and lead to interesting implications. The model predicts correlation between a light SU(2) triplet boson responsible for the type II see-saw mechanism and observable proton decay signatures. It also allows for…
Grand unified theories where the neutrino mass is given by Type II seesaw have the potential to provide interesting connections between the neutrino and charged fermion sectors. We explore the possibility of having a dominant Type II seesaw contribution in supersymmetric SO(10). We show that this can be achieved in the model where symmetry breaking is triggered by 54 and 45-dimensional representations, without the need for additional fields other than those already required to have a realistic charged fermion mass spectrum. Physical consequences, such as the implementation of the BSV mechanism…
If neutrino masses are realized through the see-saw mechanism, can the right-handed neutrinos be produced and detected at present and future colliders? The answer is negative in the most popular see-saw scenarios for the simple reason that they are too heavy in these models. However, a simple extension of the Standard Model (SM) particle content, including mirror fermions, two $SU(2)_L$ triplet and one singlet Higgs fields, leads to a scenario in which the see-saw mechanism is realized with the Majorana mass $M_R$ of the right-handed neutrino being of the order of the electroweak scale or smal…
We investigate the phenomenology of the Nearly Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (nMSSM) in the deflected anomaly mediation scenario. We also include the Fayet-Iliopoulos D-term of the standard model gauge group. In the nMSSM, the mu term is replaced by the vacuum expectation value of the gauge singlet; therefore, there is no difficulty in generating the B-term of the SUSY breaking scale. Although the messenger sector is introduced, direct couplings between nMSSM fields and messenger sector fields are forbidden by the discrete symmetry. Therefore, the phenomenology at the weak scale does n…
The minimal seesaw extension of the Standard SU(3) x SU(2) x U(1) Model requires two electroweak singlet fermions in order to accommodate the neutrino oscillation parameters at tree level. Here we consider a next to minimal extension where light neutrino masses are generated radiatively by two electroweak fermions: one singlet and one triplet under SU(2). These should be odd under a parity symmetry and their mixing gives rise to a stable weakly interactive massive particle (WIMP) dark matter candidate. For mass in the GeV-TeV range, it reproduces the correct relic density, and provides an obse…
A mechanism for leptogenesis at the electroweak scale was investigated in a model of dark energy and dark matter proposed by one of us (PQH). This model involves an asymptotically free gauge group SU(2)Z and an axion-like particle with an SU(2)Z-instanton-induced potential which yields a scenario for the dark energy. Furthermore, the extended particle content of this SU(2)Z model contains a possible candidate for the cold dark matter, namely, the SU(2)Z "shadow" fermion, which couples with the Standard Model lepton through a scalar "messenger field" carrying both SU(2)Z and electroweak quantum…
The common lore in the literature of neutrino mass generation is that the canonical see-saw mechanism beautifully offers an explanation for the tiny neutrino mass but at the cost of introducing right-handed neutrinos at a scale that is out of range for the current experiments. The inverse see-saw mechanism is an interesting alternative to the canonical one once it leads to tiny neutrino masses with the advantage of being testable at TeV scale. However, this last mechanism suffers from an issue of naturalness concerning the scale responsible for such small masses, namely, the parameter $μ$ that…
Some years ago it was shown by Ma that in the context of the electroweak standard model there are, at the tree level, only three ways to generate small neutrino masses by the see-saw mechanism via one effective dimension-five operator. Here we extend this approach to 3-3-1 chiral models showing that in this case there are several dimension-five operators and we also consider their tree level realization.
We consider the low energy constraints that can be applied to type I see-saw extensions of the Standard Model in which the right-handed neutrinos are taken at the electroweak scale. In the reported scenarios, the flavour structure of the charged current and neutral current weak interactions of the Standard Model leptons with the heavy right-handed neutrinos is essentially determined by the neutrino oscillation parameters. In this case, correlations among different measurable phenomena in the lepton sector may provide compelling indirect evidence of low energy see-saw mechanism of neutrino mass…
There has been rapidly growing interest in the past decade in a new gauge boson which is considerably lighter than the standard model Z boson. A well-known example of this kind is the so-called dark photon, and it is actively searched for in various experiments nowadays. It would be puzzling to have a new gauge boson which is neither massless nor electroweak scale, but possesses a rather small yet nonzero mass. We present a mechanism that can provide a light gauge boson as a result of a mass matrix diagonalization.
We present models of new physics that can explain the muon g-2 anomaly in accord with with the assumption that the only scalar existing at the weak scale is the Higgs, as suggested by anthropic selection. Such models are dubbed "charged see-saw" because the muon mass term is mediated by heavy leptons. The electroweak contribution to the g-2 gets modified by order one factors, giving an anomaly of the same order as the observed hint, which is strongly correlated with a modification of the Higgs coupling to the muon.
We analyze a minimal flavored gauge mediation model in which the electroweak Higgs and messenger doublets are embedded in multiplets of a discrete non-Abelian symmetry. In this scenario, the minimal Higgs-messenger sector that is consistent with the 125 GeV Higgs mass has two vectorlike pairs of messenger fields. This scenario is obtained in a specific limit of the superpotential interactions of the Higgs-messenger fields and the matter fields. Due to the structure of the messenger-matter Yukawa couplings in this limit, sizable stop mixing and flavor-diagonal soft supersymmetry breaking parame…
If the smallness of the mass of the sterile neutrino is to be explained by the see-saw mechanism, the off-diagonal entries of the mass matrix needs to be protected by some symmetry not far above the electroweak scale. We implement see-saw mechanism in a gauge model based on $SU(2)^q_L \times SU(2)^l_L \times U(1)^q_Y \times U(1)^l_Y$ un-unified gauge group which breaks to $SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y$ at the TeV region via a two-step symmetry breaking chain. The right handed diagonal block is tied to the highest scale up to which the un-unification symmetry holds. The sterile neutrino emerges from a…
In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, the higgsinos can have masses around the electroweak scale, while the other supersymmetric particles have TeV-scale masses. This happens in models of gauge-mediated SUSY breaking with a high messenger scale, which are motivated from string theory. For particular choices of the messenger field content, multi-TeV squark and gluino masses naturally lead to a much lower electroweak scale, somewhat similar to focus point supersymmetry. They also induce Higgs masses of 124-126 GeV, while making the discovery of supersymmetry at the LHC unlikely. The ligh…
After some general remarks about SU_L(4) electroweak unification, the model is extended to SU_L(4)xU_X(1) to accomodate fractionally charged quarks. The unification scale is expected to be in TeV region. A right-handed Majorana neutrino along with known lepton are put in the fundamental representation of SU_L(4) with Y_X=0. The see-saw mechanism for neutrino masses and flavor mixing in neutrino sector is a natural feature of the model. The lepton number violating processes can occure through dilepton gauge bosons contained in the model.
We consider an extension of the Standard Model with two singlet leptons, with masses in the electroweak range, that induce neutrino masses via the see-saw mechanism, plus a generic new physics sector at a higher scale, $Λ$. We apply the minimal flavor violation (MFV) principle to the corresponding Effective Field Theory ($ν$SMEFT) valid at energy scales $E \ll Λ$. We identify the irreducible sources of lepton flavor and lepton number violation at the renormalizable level, and apply the MFV ansätz to derive the scaling of the Wilson coefficients of the $ν$SMEFT operators up to dimension six. We…
We present a realization of the idea that the Higgs boson is mainly a bound state of neutrinos induced by strong four-fermion interactions. The conflicts of this idea with the measured values of the top quark and Higgs boson masses are overcome by introducing, in addition to the right-handed neutrino, a new fermion singlet, which, at low energies, implements the inverse see-saw mechanism. The singlet fermions also develop a scalar bound state which mixes with the Higgs boson. This allows us to obtain a small Higgs boson mass even if the couplings are large, as required in composite scalar scen…
We study a type I see-saw scenario where the right-handed (RH) neutrinos, responsible for the light neutrino mass generation, lie at the electroweak scale. Under certain conditions, the strength of the charged and neutral current weak interactions of the Standard Model particles with the heavy RH neutrinos can be large enough to allow their production at the LHC, opening also the possibility of observing other low energy signatures of the new physics in the electroweak precision observables as well as in searches for rare leptonic decays or neutrinoless double beta decay. We argue that in this…
We analyze a scenario where the right-handed neutrinos make part of a strongly coupled conformal field theory and acquire an anomalous dimension γ<1 at a large scale Λ. Their Yukawa couplings to the Higgs become irrelevant at the fixed point and they are suppressed at low scales giving rise naturally to a small (sub-meV) Dirac neutrino mass which breaks the conformal invariance. We derive an upper bound on γfrom loop-induced flavor changing neutral currents. Neutrino Yukawa couplings can be sizable at electroweak scales and therefore the invisible decay of the Higgs in the neutrino channel can…
The left-right model is a gauge theory of electroweak interactions based on the gauge symmetry SU(2)_R . The main motivations for this model are that it gives an explanation for the parity violation of weak interactions, provides a mechanism (see-saw) for generating neutrino masses, and has B-L as a gauge symmetry. The quark-lepton symmetry in weak interactions is also maintained in this theory. The model has many predictions one can directly test at a TeV-scale linear collider. We will consider here two processes (e,e -> q, q, barQ, barQ and e,e ->mu, nu, q, barQ) testing the lepton flavour v…
We show that the electroweak symmetry can be broken in a natural and phenomenologically acceptable way by a neutrino condensate. Therefore, we assume as particle content only the chiral fermions and gauge bosons of the Standard Model and in addition right-handed neutrinos. A fundamental Higgs field is absent. We assume instead that new interactions exist that can effectively be described as four-fermion interactions and that can become critical in the neutrino sector. We discuss in detail the coupled Dirac-Majorana gap equations which lead to a neutrino condensate, electroweak symmetry breakin…
We perform a detailed analysis of lepton flavour violation (LFV) within minimal see-saw type extensions of the Standard Model (SM), which give a viable mechanism of neutrino mass generation and provide new particle content at the electroweak scale. We focus, mainly, on predictions and constraints set on each scenario from mu --> e gamma, mu --> 3e and mu - e conversion in the nuclei. In this class of models, the flavour structure of the Yukawa couplings between the additional scalar and fermion representations and the SM leptons is highly constrained by neutrino oscillation measurements. In pa…
The couplings of the low scale type I see-saw model are severely constrained by the requirement of reproducing the correct neutrino mass and mixing parameters, by the non-observation of lepton number and charged lepton flavour violating processes and by electroweak precision data. We show that all these constraints still allow for the possibility of an exotic Higgs decay channel into a light neutrino and a heavy neutrino with a sizable branching ratio. We also estimate the prospects to observe this decay at the LHC and discuss its complementarity to the indirect probes of the low scale type I …
We study an extension of the Standard Model with electroweak scale right-handed singlet fermions $N$ that induces neutrino masses, plus a generic new physics sector at a higher scale $Λ$. The latter is parametrized in terms of effective operators in the language of the $ν$SMEFT. We study its phenomenology considering operators up to $d=6$, where additional production and decay modes for $N$ are present in addition to those arising from the mixing with the active neutrinos. We focus on the production with four-Fermi operators and we identify the most relevant additional decay modes to be $N\to …
Majorana masses of the neutrino implies lepton number violation and is intimately related to the lepton asymmetry of the universe, which gets related to the baryon asymmetry of the universe in the presence of the sphalerons during the electroweak phase transition. Assuming that the baryon asymmetry of the universe is generated before the electroweak phase transition, it is possible to dicriminate different classes of models of neutrino masses. While see-saw mechanism and the triplet higgs mechanism are preferred, the Zee-type radiative models and the R-parity breaking models requires additiona…
Motivated by BICEP2 results that imply gravitational waves are produced when the universe has an expansion energy of about $Mc^2 \approx 10^{14}$ GeV and that a natural extension to the Standard Model of Particle physics is a right-handed neutrino that would or could be at $m_{ν_R}c^2 \approx 10^{14}$ GeV, I propose here a See-Saw Inflation model which fits into the general class of models we have dubbed "Wiggly Whipped Inflation"\cite{Hazra:2014WWI}. The residual heavy right-handed neutrinos work out to be Dark Matter in reasonable physical scenarios. The same scalar boson that stabilises the…
The top condensate see-saw mechanism of Dobrescu and Hill allows electroweak symmetry to be broken while deferring the problem of flavour to an electroweak singlet, massive sector. We provide an extended version of the singlet sector that naturally accommodates realistic masses for all the standard model fermions, which play an equal role in breaking electroweak symmetry. The models result in a relatively light composite Higgs sector with masses typically in the range of (400-700)~GeV. In more complete models the dynamics will presumably be driven by a broken gauged family or flavour symmetry …
Implications are considered of the hypothesis that the symplectic group $Sp(n/2)$ is the spontaneously violated gauge group of n lepton flavors. Invariant Majorana masses are impossible in $Sp(n/2)$. For the local gauge symmetry $Sp(n/2)$ the dynamical spontaneous violation is only achievable for the number of flavors $n=6$ with simultaneous parity ($R,L-$symmetry) violation. The see-saw mechanism produces here three light and three heavy Dirac neutrinos. Majorana states are unavailable here. Neglecting heavy particles in the $R,L-$symmetric system of weak and electromagnetic interactions ($R,…
We propose a novel implementation of spontaneous parity breaking in supersymmetric left-right symmetric model, avoiding some of the problems encountered in previous studies. This implementation includes a bitriplet and a singlet, in addition to the bidoublets which extend the Higgs sector of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). The supersymmetric vacua of this theory are shown to lead generically to spontaneous violation of parity, while preserving R parity. The model is shown to reproduce the see-saw relation for vacuum expectation values, $v_L v_R \approx m_{EW}^2$ relating the …
We explore a mechanism of radiative B-L symmetry breaking in analogous to the radiative electroweak symmetry breaking. The breaking scale of B-L symmetry is related to the neutrino masses through the see-saw mechanism. Once we incorporate the U(1)_{B-L} gauge symmetry in SUSY models, the U(1)_{B-L} gaugino appears, and it can mediate the SUSY breaking (Z-prime mediated SUSY breaking) at around the scale of 10^6 GeV. Then we find a links between the neutrino mass (more precisly the see-saw or B-L scale of order 10^{6} GeV) and the Z-prime mediated SUSY breaking scale. It is also very interestin…
In the minimal supersymmetric standard model, we have studied the evolution of the neutrino flavor mixing by using the renormalization group equation(RGE) with the Georgi-Jarlskog texture for the Yukawa coupling matrices. For the large Yukawa coupling of the charged lepton, i.e.,$\tan\b \gg 1$, the neutrino flavor mixing increases significantly with running down to the electroweak scale by the RGE. If one wishes to get the large neutrino flavor mixing $\sin þ_{23}$ at the electroweak scale, which is suggested by the muon neutrino deficit in the atomospheric neutrino flux, the initial condition …
In this letter, we introduce the ``flipped see-saw mechanism'', a new type of see-saw mechanism with 4th-generation neutrinos. This mechanism naturally explains the light sterile neutrino which is needed to account for all neutrino oscillation data. At the same time it predicts that another Majorona neutrino should exist with mass of the electro-weak scale. We comment on some implications of this scenario on the oblique parameters used to parameterize precision electroweak measurements as well as on future experiments.
We study thermal leptogenesis from decays of the electroweak triplets that mediate neutrino masses in type-II and type-III see-saw. We find that Sommerfeld corrections reduce the baryon asymmetry by ~30%, and that successful leptogenesis needs triplets heavier than 1.6 TeV, beyond the discovery reach of LHC.
We present a simple scenario for gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking where the messengers are also the fields that generate neutrino masses. We show that the simplest such scenario corresponds to the case where neutrino masses are generated through the Type I and Type III seesaw mechanisms. The entire supersymmetric spectrum and Higgs masses are calculable from only four input parameters. Since the electroweak symmetry is broken through a doubly radiative mechanism, meaning a nearly zero B-term at the messenger scale which runs down to acceptable values, one obtains quite a constrained spect…
We consider an extension of the Standard Model with two right-handed singlet fermions with mass at the electroweak scale that induce neutrino masses, plus a generic new physics sector at a higher scale $Λ$. We focus on the effective operators of lowest dimension $d=5$, which induce new production and decay modes for the singlet fermions. We assess the sensitivity of future Higgs Factories, such as FCC-ee, CLIC-380, ILC and CEPC, to the coefficients of these operators for various center of mass energies. We show that future lepton colliders can test the cut-off of the theory up to $Λ\simeq 500 …
We show that some models with $SU(3)_C\otimes SU(3)_L\otimes U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry can be realized at the electroweak scale and that this is a consequence of an approximate global $SU(2)_{L+R}$ symmetry. This symmetry implies a condition among the vacuum expectation value of one of the neutral Higgs scalars, the $U(1)_X$'s coupling constant, $g_X$, the sine of the weak mixing angle $\sinθ_W$, and the mass of the $W$ boson, $M_W$. In the limit in which this symmetry is valid it avoids the tree level mixing of the $Z$ boson of the Standard Model with the extra $Z^\prime$ boson. We have verified…
We explore a mechanism of radiative B-L symmetry breaking in analogous to the radiative electroweak symmetry breaking. The breaking scale of B-L symmetry is related to the neutrino masses through the see-saw mechanism. Once we incorporate the U(1)(B-L) gauge symmetry in SUSY models, the U(1)(B-L) gaugino appears, and it can mediate the SUSY breaking (Z-prime mediated SUSY breaking) at around the scale of 10^6 GeV. Then we find a links between the neutrino mass (more precisly the see-saw or B-L scale of order 10^6 GeV) and the Z-prime mediated SUSY breaking scale. It is also very interesting th…
We propose a model of neutrino mass generation in extra dimension. Allowing a large lepton number violation on a distant brane spatially separated from the standard model brane, a small neutrino mass is naturally generated due to an exponential suppression of the messenger field in the 5D bulk. The model accommodates a large Yukawa coupling with the singlet neutrino (n_R) which may change the standard Higgs search and can simultaneously accommodate visible lepton number violation at the electroweak scale, which leads to very interesting phenomenology at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
We propose a new mechanism for baryogenesis in supersymmetric extensions of the standard model, that does not depend on (super)GUT interactions. It occurs by the non-perturbative electroweak reprocessing of a lepton asymmetry. This lepton asymmetry is generated by the effects of lepton number violating induced operators, arising from "see-saw" (s)neutrino masses, which act on scalar condensate oscillations along flat directions of the supersymmetric standard model.
Higgs triplet models are known to have difficulties obtaining agreement with electroweak precision data and in particular constraints on the $ρ$ parameter. Either a global $SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R$ symmetry has to be imposed on the scalar potential at the electroweak scale, as done in the well-known Georgi-Machacek (GM) model, or the triplet vacuum expectation values must be very small. We construct a supersymmetric model that can satisfy constraints on the $ρ$ parameter, even if these two conditions are not fulfilled. We supersymmetrize the GM model by imposing the $SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R$ s…
Recent (first or/and the best) results from the neutrino experiments are reviewed and their implications for the theory are discussed. The sense of the experiments is the searching for neutrino masses, mixing and interactions beyond the standard model. Present laboratory experiments give upper bounds on the masses and the mixing which are at the level of predictions of the ``electroweak see-saw". Positive indications of nonzero lepton mixing follow from studies of the solar and atmospheric neutrinos.
It has been argued that any primordial B+L asymmetry existing at very high temperatures can be subsequently erased by anomalous electroweak effects. We argue that this is not necessarily the case in the supersymmetric standard model because, apart from B and/or L, there are, above a certain temperature $T_{SS}$, two other anomalous U(1) currents. As a consequence, anomalous electroweak effects are only able to partially transform a B+L excess into a generation of primordial sparticle (e.g. gaugino) density. This relaxes recent bounds on B,L-violating non-renormalizable couplings by several ord…
We analyze possible lepton-flavor-violating decays of the $Z^0$ particle in a minimal extension of the Standard Model, in which one right-handed neutral field for each family has been introduced. Such rare leptonic decays are induced by Majorana neutrinos at the first electroweak loop level and are generally not suppressed by the ordinary "see-saw" mechanism. In particular, we find that experimental bounds on branching ratios of the order of $10^{-5}-10^{-6}$ attainable at $LEP$ may impose constraints on lepton-flavor-mixing parameters and the masses of the heavy Majorana neutrinos.
The existence of tiny neutrino masses at a scale more than a million times smaller than the lightest charged fermion mass, namely the electron, and their mixings can not be explained within the framework of the exceptionally successful Standard Model. There are four ideas that has been proposed to explain the tiny neutrino masses. These include the see-saw mechanism with a right handed neutrino at the GUT scale, and this is the most elegant mechanism. The other mechanisms are radiatively generated neutrino masses, the neutrino mass arising from a 2nd Higgs doublet having a tiny VEV and couplin…
The Standard Model with an added Higgs portal interaction and no explicit mass terms is a classically scale-invariant theory. In this case the scale of electroweak symmetry breaking can be induced radiatively by the Coleman-Weinberg mechanism operational in a hidden sector, and then transmitted to the Standard Model through the Higgs portal. The smallness of the generated values for the Higgs vev and mass, compared to the UV cutoff of our classically scale-invariant effective theory, is naturally explained by this mechanism. We show how these classically conformal models can generate the baryo…
The most promising scenarios of baryogenesis seems to be the one through lepton number violation. Lepton number violation through a Majarana mass of the right-handed neutrinos can generate a lepton asymmetry of the universe when the right-handed neutrinos decay. The left-handed neutrinos get small Majorana masses through see-saw mechanism in these models. A triplet higgs scalar violating lepton number explicitly through its couplings to two leptons or two higgs doublets can also naturally give small Majorana masses to the left-handed neutrinos and also generate a lepton asymmetry of the univer…
We evaluate the constraints that the COBE observations put on baryogenesis in inflationary cosmologies. We consider the supersymmetric version of the proposal of Fukugita and Yanagida, that the baryon asymmetry of the universe is created by nonperturbative electroweak reprocessing of a lepton asymmetry generated in the decay of heavy right-handed see-saw (s)neutrinos. We review our recent proposal of a mechanism for baryogenesis via sphaleron reprocessing of a lepton asymmetry generated by (s)neutrino mass effects on flat direction scalar condensate oscillations. Finally we analyze in detail th…
Our present work explores the possibility of neutrino mass generation through {\em Type-I see-saw} mechanism and provides an explanation of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe via thermal leptogenesis in the framework of $Z_3$-symmetric three Higgs doublet model (3HDM) augmented with three right-handed neutrinos. Here the thermal leptogenesis is initiated by the out-of-equilibrium decay of the lightest heavy neutrino $N_1$. The constraints arising out of the scalar sector put strong bound on the model parameter $\tan β$, which in turn takes part in the computation of the lepton asymmetry $ε$.…
we study fermion masses and flavor mixing in a supersymmetric SO(10) model, where $\mathbf{10}$, $\mathbf{120}$ and $\mathbf{\bar{126}}$ Higgs multiplets have Yukawa couplings with matter multiplets and give masses to quarks and leptons through the breaking chain of a Pati-Salam group. This brings about that, at the GUT energy scale, the lepton mass matrices are related to the quark ones via several breaking parameters, and the small neutrino masses arise from a Type II see-saw mechanism. When evolving renormalization group equations for the fermion mass matrices from the GUT scale to the elec…
We update present bounds on the helicity of the neutrinos produced in muon decay, including e+ e- -> fbar f LEP 2 data. These significantly reduce the limits derived from all the other electroweak precision data. In Standard Model extensions designed to maximize the RH neutrino production in such a decay the neutrino deficit eventually observable in a near detector at a neutrino factory can be of the order of 5 %. Motivated by the current LHC run at 7 TeV, we also update previous work providing discovery limits on see-saw mediators at this centre of mass energy. Lepton triplets with 200 GeV co…
