Light-front holography is a remarkable feature of the AdS/CFT correspondence between gravity in AdS space and conformal field theories in physical space-time; it allows string modes $Φ(z)$ in the anti-de Sitter (AdS) fifth dimension to be precisely mapped to the light-front wavefunctions of hadrons in physical space-time in terms of a specific light-front impact variable $ζ$ which measures the separation of the quark and gluonic constituents within the hadron. This mapping was originally obtained by matching the exact expression for electromagnetic current matrix elements in AdS space with the corresponding exact expression for the current matrix element using light-front theory in physical space-time. In this paper we show that one obtains the identical holographic mapping using matrix elements of the energy-momentum tensor. To prove this, we show that there exists a correspondence between the matrix elements of the energy-momentum tensor of the fundamental hadronic constituents in QCD with the transition amplitudes describing the interaction of string modes in AdS space with an external graviton field which propagates in the AdS interior. The agreement of the results for electromagnetic and gravitational hadronic transition amplitudes provides an important consistency test and verification of holographic mapping from AdS to physical observables defined on the light-front.
We study the helicity-independent generalized parton distributions of nucleons in the zero skewness case, based on a particular light-front quark model derived in a soft-wall AdS/QCD approach.

Starting from the Hamiltonian equation of motion in QCD we find a single variable light-front equation for QCD which determines the eigenspectrum and the light-front wavefunctions of hadrons for general spin and orbital angular momentum. This light-front wave equation is equivalent to the equations of motion which describe the propagation of spin-$J$ modes on anti-de Sitter (AdS) space.
We give an overview of the light-front holographic approach to strongly coupled QCD, whereby a confining gauge theory, quantized on the light front, is mapped to a higher-dimensional anti de Sitter (AdS) space. The framework is guided by the AdS/CFT correspondence incorporating a gravitational background asymptotic to AdS space which encodes the salient properties of QCD, such as the ultraviolet conformal limit at the AdS boundary at $z \to 0$, as well as modifications of the geometry in the large $z$ infrared region to describe confinement and linear Regge behavior. There are two equivalent p…
Light-Front Holography leads to a rigorous connection between hadronic amplitudes in a higher dimensional anti-de Sitter (AdS) space and frame-independent light-front wavefunctions of hadrons in 3+1 physical space-time, thus providing a compelling physical interpretation of the AdS/CFT correspondence principle and AdS/QCD, a useful framework which describes the correspondence between theories in a modified AdS$_5$ background and confining field theories in physical space-time. To a first semiclassical approximation, where quantum loops and quark masses are not included, this approach leads to …
A remarkable holographic feature of dynamics in AdS space in five dimensions is that it is dual to Hamiltonian theory in physical space-time, quantized at fixed light-front time τ = t+z/c. This light-front holographic principle provides a precise relation between the bound-state amplitudes in AdS space and the boost-invariant light-front wavefunctions describing the internal structure of hadrons in physical space-time. The fifth dimension coordinate z is dual to the light front variable ζ describing the invariant separation of the quark constituents. The resulting valence Fock-state wavefuncti…
A remarkable consequence of the AdS/CFT correspondence is the nonperturbative derivation of dimensional counting rules for hard scattering processes. Using string/gauge duality we derive the QCD power behavior of light-front Fock-state hadronic wavefunctions for hard scattering in the large-$r$ region of the AdS space from the conformal isometries which determine the scaling of string states as we approach the boundary from the interior of AdS space. The nonperturbative scaling results are obtained for spin-zero and spin-$\half$ hadrons and are extended to include the orbital angular momentum …
In this work, we consider an extension to the matching procedure proposed by Brodsky and de Teramond to obtain the two-body wave functions in the light-front formalism for holographic models. We compute the light-front wave function (LFWF) considering different static dilaton fields and AdS-like geometric deformations. We also prove that this procedure holds for general AdS/QCD models in asymptotically AdS geometries.

The combination of Anti-de Sitter space (AdS) methods with light-front (LF) holography provides a remarkably accurate first approximation for the spectra and wavefunctions of meson and baryon light-quark bound states. Gauge/gravity duality leads to a simple, analytical, and phenomenologically compelling nonperturbative approximation to the full light-front QCD Hamiltonian. This approach, called "Light-Front Holography", successfully describes the spectroscopy of light-quark meson and baryons, their elastic and transition form factors, and other hadronic properties. The bound-state Schrodinger and Dirac equations of the soft-wall AdS/QCD model predict linear Regge trajectories which have the same slope in orbital angular momentum L and radial quantum number n for both mesons and baryons. Methods of constructing of elastic form factors and scattering amplitudes of composite particles are reviewed. Elastic form factors in the impulse approximation are calculated. Scattering amplitudes for relativistic bound states are constructed. Some model cases for transition amplitudes are considered. Deep inelastic form factors (structure functions) are expressed through light front wave functions. It is shown that taking into account of transverse motion of p…
One of the most important nonperturbative methods for solving QCD is quantization at fixed light-front time, τ= t+z/c -- Dirac's "Front Form". The eigenvalues of the light-front QCD Hamiltonian predict the hadron spectrum and the eigensolutions provide the light-front wavefunctions which describe hadron structure. More generally, we show that the valence Fock-state wavefunctions of the light-front QCD Hamiltonian satisfy a single-variable relativistic equation of motion, analogous to the nonrelativistic radial Schrödinger equation, with an effective confining potential U which systematically i…
We present a comparative study of nucleon structure such as electromagnetic form factors, transverse charge and magnetization densities in three different models within AdS/QCD framework.
Using the light front wave functions for the nucleons in a quark model in AdS/QCD, we calculate the nucleon electromagnetic form factors. The flavor decompositions of the nucleon form factors are calculated from the GPDs in this model. We show that the nucleon form factors and their flavor decompositions calculated in AdS/QCD are in agreement with experimental data.

In this paper, we consider a novel realization of the Dynamical Dark Matter (DDM) framework in which the ensemble of particles which collectively constitute the dark matter are the composite states of a strongly-coupled conformal field theory. Cosmological abundances for these states are then generated through mixing with an additional, elementary state. As a result, the physical fields of the DDM dark sector at low energies are partially composite -- i.e., admixtures of elementary and composite states. Interestingly, we find that the degree of compositeness exhibited by these states varies ac…

We compute the rate for diffractive $ϕ$ electro-production using the Color Glass Condensate dipole model. The model parameters are obtained from fits to the most recent combined HERA data on inclusive deep inelastic scattering. As for the $ϕ$ meson, we use an AdS/QCD holographic light front wavefunction. Our predictions are compared to the available data collected at the HERA collider.
We describe the observed light-baryon spectrum by extending superconformal quantum mechanics to the light front and its embedding in AdS space. This procedure uniquely determines the confinement potential for arbitrary half-integer spin. To this end, we show that fermionic wave equations in AdS space are dual to light-front supersymmetric quantum mechanical bound-state equations in physical space-time. The specific breaking of conformal invariance explains hadronic properties common to light mesons and baryons, such as the observed mass pattern in the radial and orbital excitations, from the s…

We use an anti-de Sitter/Quantum Chromodynamics (AdS/QCD) holographic light-front wavefunction for the $ρ$ and $ϕ$ mesons, in conjunction with the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) dipole cross-section whose parameters are fitted to the most recent 2015 high precision HERA data on inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS), in order to predict the cross-sections for diffractive $ρ$ and $ϕ$ electroproduction. Our results suggest that the holographic meson light-front wavefunction is able to give a simultaneous description of the $ρ$ and $ϕ$ production data provided we use a set of light quark masses …
The soft-wall AdS/QCD model, modified by a positive-sign dilaton metric, leads to a remarkable one-parameter description of nonperturbative hadron dynamics. We also present all the matrix element of the energy-momentum tensor in a transversely polarized state. Further, we evaluate the matrix element of Pauli-Lubanski operator in this model and show that the intrinsic spin sum rule involves the form factor $\bar{C}$. The longitudinal momentum …

We show that the nonperturbative light-front dynamics of relativistic hadronic bound states has a dual semiclassical gravity description on a higher dimensional warped AdS space in the limit of zero quark masses. This mapping of AdS gravity theory to the boundary quantum field theory, quantized at fixed light-front time, allows one to establish a precise relation between holographic wave functions in AdS space and the light-front wavefunctions describing the internal structure of hadrons. The resulting AdS/QCD model gives a remarkably good accounting of the spectrum, elastic and transition for…
We show how the string amplitude $Φ(z)$ defined on the fifth dimension in AdS$_5$ space can be precisely mapped to the light-front wavefunctions of hadrons in physical spacetime. We find an exact correspondence between the holographic variable $z$ and an impact variable $ζ$, which represents the measure of transverse separation of the constituents within the hadrons. In addition, we derive effective four dimensional Schrödinger equations for the bound states of massless quarks and gluons which exactly reproduce the AdS/CFT results and give a realistic description of the light-quark meson and b…
We investigate the gravitational form factors (GFFs) and the longitudinal momentum densities ($p^+$ densities) for proton in a light-front quark-diquark model. The light-front wave functions are constructed from the soft-wall AdS/QCD prediction. The contributions from both the scalar and the axial vector diquarks are considered here. The results are compared with the consequences of a parametrization of nucleon generalized parton distributions (GPDs) in the light of recent MRST measurements of parton distribution functions (PDFs) and a soft-wall AdS/QCD model. The spatial distribution of angul…
We compare the Bakamjian-Thomas (BT) formulation of relativistic few-body systems with light front field theories that maintain closer contact with Feynman diagrams. We find that Feynman diagrams distinguish Melosh rotations and other kinematical quantities belonging to various composite subsystem frames that correspond to different loop integrals. The BT formalism knows only the rest frame of the whole composite system, where everything is evaluated.
The light-front holographic mapping of classical gravity in AdS space, modified by a positive-sign dilaton background, leads to a nonperturbative effective coupling $α_s^{AdS}(Q^2)$. It agrees with hadron physics data extracted from different observables, such as the effective charge defined by the Bjorken sum rule, as well as with the predictions of models with built-in confinement and lattice simulations. It also displays a transition from perturbative to nonperturbative conformal regimes at a momentum scale $ \sim 1$ GeV. The resulting $β$ function appears to capture the essential character…
We briefly review the remarkable connections between light-front QCD, gravity in AdS space, and conformal quantum mechanics. We discuss, in particular, the group theoretical and geometrical aspects of the underlying one-dimensional quantum field theory. The resulting effective theory leads to a phenomenologically successful confining interaction potential in the relativistic light-front wave equation which incorporates relevant non-perturbative dynamical aspects of hadron physics.
The AdS/CFT correspondence between theories in AdS space and conformal field theories in physical space-time provides an analytic, semi-classical, color-confining model for strongly-coupled QCD. The light-front dynamics is an efficient approach to study of field theory and of relativistic composite systems (nuclei at relativistic relative nucleon momenta, hadrons in the quark models). The explicitly covariant version of this approach is briefly reviewed and illustrated by some applications.
A complementary approach, derived from (a) higher dimensional anti--de Sitter (AdS) space, (b) light-front quantization and (c) the invariance properties of the full conformal group in one dimension leads to a nonperturbative relativistic light-front wave equation which incorporates essential spectroscopic and dynamical features of hadron physics. The fundamental conformal symmetry of the classical QCD Lagrangian in the limit of massless quarks is encoded in the resulting effective theory. The mass scale for confinement emerges from the isomorphism between the conformal group and SO(2,1). This…

A phenomenological analysis of the scalar glueball and scalar meson spectra is carried out by using the AdS/QCD framework in the bottom-up approach. The resulting spectra are in good agreement for glueballs with lattice QCD results and for mesons with PDG data. We make use of the relation between the mode functions in AdS/QCD and the wave functions in Light-Front $QCD$ to discuss the mixing of glueballs and mesons. The results of our investigation point out that above 2 GeV scalar particles will appear in almost degenerate pairs of unmixed glueball and mesons states leading to an interesting p…
Light-Front Hamiltonian theory provides a rigorous frame-independent framework for solving nonperturbative QCD. The valence Fock-state wavefunctions of the light-front QCD Hamiltonian satisfy a single-variable relativistic equation of motion, analogous to the nonrelativistic radial Schrödinger equation, with an effective confining potential U which systematically incorporates the effects of higher quark and gluon Fock states. Remarkably, the potential U has a unique form of a harmonic oscillator potential if one requires that the chiral QCD action remains conformally invariant. A mass gap aris…
We provide gauge/gravity dual descriptions of the strong coupling sector of composite Higgs models using insights from non-conformal examples of the AdS/CFT correspondence. We calculate particle masses and decay constants for proposed Sp(4) and SU(4) gauge theories, where there is the best lattice data for comparison. Our results compare favorably to lattice studies and go beyond those due to a greater flexibility in choosing the fermion content. That content changes the running dynamics and its choice can lead to sizable changes in the bound state masses. We describe top partners by a dual fe…
We reply to L. Ya. Glozman's Comment "Is a consistent holographic description of excited hadrons with fixed $L$ possible?" In general, the solutions of the bound state Hamiltonian equation of motion in QCD have Fock state components with different $L$, and consequently hadronic relativistic wave equations derived in the framework of light-front holography share this property. For example, the proton eigenstate has components with L=0 and L=1. The results of AdS/QCD are consistent with the requirements of chiral symmetry and do not violate any fundamental physical principle. This is further ill…
The AdS/CFT correspondence is a powerful tool to study the properties of conformal QCD at strong coupling in terms of a higher dimensional dual gravity theory. The power-law falloff of scattering amplitudes in the non-perturbative regime and calculable hadron spectra follow from holographic models dual to QCD with conformal behavior at short distances and confinement at large distances. String modes and fluctuations about the AdS background are identified with QCD degrees of freedom and orbital excitations at the AdS boundary limit. A description of form factors in space and time-like regions …
We use AdS/QCD holographic Distributions Amplitudes for the vector mesons $ρ$ and $K^*$ in order to predict the radiative decays $B \to ργ$ and $B \to K^* γ$ as well as the semileptonic decays $B \to ρl ν$ and $B \to K^* μ^+ μ^-$. For the radiative decays, we find that the AdS/QCD DAs offer the advantage of avoiding end-point singularities when computing power suppressed contributions. For the semileptonic decays $B \to ρl ν$ and $B \to K^* μ^+ μ^-$, we compare our predictions to the latest BaBar and LHCb data respectively.
We present a study of the generalized parton distributions for the quarks in a proton in both momentum and position spaces using the light-front wave functions of a quark-diquark model for the nucleon predicted by the soft-wall model of AdS/QCD. The results are compared with the soft-wall AdS/QCD model of proton GPDs for zero skewness. We also calculate the GPDs for nonzero skewness. We observe that the GPDs have a diffraction pattern in longitudinal position space, as seen before in other models. Then we present a comparitive study of the nucleon charge and anomalous magnetization densities i…
