Helical Solutions in Scalar Gravity

We construct solutions, for small values of $G$ and angular frequency $Ω$, of special relativistic scalar gravity coupled to ideally elastic matter which have helical but no stationary or axial symmetry. They correspond to a body without any symmetries in steady rotation around one of its axes of inertia, or two bodies moving on a circle around their center of gravity. Our construction is rigorous, but modulo an unproved conjecture on the differentiability of a certain functional.

The periodic standing-wave approximation: eigenspectral computations for linear gravity and nonlinear toy models

The periodic standing wave approach to binary inspiral assumes rigid rotation of gravitational fields and hence helically symmetric solutions. Uniqueness of Solutions to the Helically Reduced Wave Equation with Sommerfeld Boundary Conditions

We consider the helical reduction of the wave equation with an arbitrary source on $(n+1)$-dimensional Minkowski space, $n\geq2$. The reduced equation is of mixed elliptic-hyperbolic type on ${\bf R}^n$. We obtain a uniqueness theorem for solutions on a domain consisting of an $n$-dimensional ball $B$ centered on the reduction of the axis of helical symmetry and satisfying ingoing or outgoing Sommerfeld conditions on $\partial B\approx S^{n-1}$. Non-linear generalizations of such boundary value problems (with $n=3$) arise in the intermediate phase of binary inspiral in general relativity.
