We study the Cauchy problem for the generalized elliptic and non-elliptic derivative nonlinear Schrodinger equations, the existence of the scattering operators and the global well posedness of solutions with small data in Besov spaces and in modulation spaces are obtained. In one spatial dimension, we get the sharp well posedness result with small data in critical homogeneous Besov spaces. As a by-product, the existence of the scattering operators with small data is also shown. In order to show these results, the global versions of the estimates for the maximal functions on the elliptic and non-elliptic Schrodinger groups are established.
The purpose of this note is to prove sharp Strichartz estimates with derivative losses for the non elliptic Schrodinger equation posed on the 2 dimensional torus.
In this paper, the existence, uniqueness and regularity properties, Strichartz type estimates for solution of multipoint Cauchy problem for linear and nonlinear Schrödinger equations with general elliptic leading part is obtained.
We prove that the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation is globally well-posed in $H^{\frac 12} (\mathbb{R})$ when the mass of initial data is strictly less than $4π$.
We study the orbital instability of solitary waves for a generalized derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We give sufficient conditions for instability of a two-parameter family of solitary waves in a degenerate case.
In this paper we construct a Gibbs measure for the derivative Schrödinger equation on the circle. The construction uses some renormalisations of Gaussian series and Wiener chaos estimates, ideas which have already been used by the second author in a work on the Benjamin-Ono equation.
We consider the initial value problem for cubic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation in one space dimension. Under a suitable weakly dissipative condition on the nonlinearity, we show that the small data solution has a logarithmic time decay in $L^2$.
In this paper we consider the local well-posedness theory for the quadratic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with low regularity initial data in the case when the nonlinearity contains derivatives. We work in 2+1 dimensions and prove a local well-posedness result close to scaling for small initial data.
In this paper we study the Cauchy problem for the elliptic and non-elliptic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations in higher spatial dimensions ($n\geq 2$) and some global well-posedness results with small initial data in critical Besov spaces $B^s_{2,1}$ are obtained. As by-products, the scattering results with small initial data are also obtained.
As a continuation of the previous work \cite{Wu}, we consider the global well-posedness for the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We prove that it is globally well-posed in energy space, provided that the initial data $u_0\in H^1(\mathbb{R})$ with $\|u_0\|_{L^2}< 2\sqrtπ$.
Consider the initial value problem for systems of cubic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations in one space dimension with the masses satisfying a suitable resonance relation. We give structural conditions on the nonlinearity under which the small data solution gains an additional logarithmic decay as $t \to +\infty$ compared with the corresponding free evolution.
We present a numerical study of a derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a general power nonlinearity, $|ψ|^{2σ}ψ_x$. In the $L^2$-supercritical regime, $σ>1$, our simulations indicate that there is a finite time singularity. We obtain a precise description of the local structure of the solution in terms of blowup rate and asymptotic profile, in a form similar to that of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with supercritical power law nonlinearity.
We study the Cauchy problem for the generalized KdV and one-dimensional fourth-order derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations, for which the global well-posedness of solutions with the small rough data in certain scaling limit of modulation spaces is shown, which contain some data with infinite $L^{2}$ norm.
We consider the nonlinear derivative Schrodinger equation with a quintic nonlinearity, on the one dimensional torus. We exhibit that the nonlinear dynamic properties consist of four frequency modes initially excited, whose frequencies include the resonant clusters and phase matched resonant interactions of nonlinearities. This phenomena arrests energy transfers between low and high modes, which are quantified by a growth in the Sobolev norm.
The present article deals with the similarity method to tackle the fractional Schrodinger equation where the derivative is defined in the Riesz sense. Moreover the procedure of reducing a fractional partial differential equation (FPDE) into an ordinary differential equation (ODE) has been efficiently displayed by means of suitable scaled transform to the proposed fractional equation. Furthermore the ODEs are treated effectively via the Fourier transform. The graphical solutions are also depicted for different fractional derivatives .
The large-time behavior of solutions to the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation is established for initial conditions in some weighted Sobolev spaces under the assumption that the initial conditions do not support solitons. Our approach uses the inverse scattering setting and the nonlinear steepest descent method of Deift and Zhou as recast by Dieng and McLaughlin.
It is shown that the cubic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation is locally well-posed in Besov spaces $B^{s}_{2,\infty}(\mathbb X)$, $s\ge\tfrac12$, where we treat the non-periodic setting $\mathbb X=\mathbb R$ and the periodic setting $\mathbb X=\mathbb T$ simultaneously. The proof is based on the strategy of Herr for initial data in $H^{s}(\mathbb T)$, $s\ge\tfrac12$.
This paper provides a small data global existence result for a class of quadratic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger systems in two space dimensions. This is an extension of the previous results by Li [Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst., 32 (2012), 4265--4285] and Ikeda--Katayama--Sunagawa [Ann. H. Poincaré 16 (2015), 535--567].
In this note, we consider the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation on the circle. In particular, by adapting Wu's recent argument to the periodic setting, we prove its global well-posedness in $H^1(\mathbb T)$, provided that the mass is less than $4π$. Moreover, this mass threshold is independent of spatial periods.
A class of self-similar solutions to the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations is studied. Especially, the asymptotics of profile functions are shown to posses a logarithmic phase correction. This logarithmic phase correction is obtained from the nonlinear interaction of profile functions. This is a remarkable difference from the pseudo-conformally invariant case, where the logarithmic correction comes from the linear part of the equations of the profile functions.
We consider nonlinear elliptic equations that are naturally obtained from the elliptic Schrödinger equation $-Δu +Vu=0$ in the setting of the calculus of variations, and obtain $L^q$-estimates for the gradient of weak solutions. In particular, we generalize a result of Shen in [Ann. Inst. Fourier 45 (1995), no. 2, 513--546] in the nonlinear setting by using a different approach. This allows us to consider discontinuous coefficients with a small BMO semi-norm and non-smooth boundaries which might not be Lipschitz continuous.
We prove global existence of small solutions to the initial value problem for a class of cubic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger systems with the masses satisfying suitable non-resonance relations. The large-time asymptotics of the solutions are also shown. This work is intended to provide a counterpart of the previous paper (arXiv:1507.07617) in which the mass resonance case was treated.
We show that the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger (DNLS) equation is globally well-posed in the weighted Sobolev space $H^{2,2}(\mathbb{R})$. Our result exploits the complete integrability of DNLS and removes certain spectral conditions on the initial data, thanks to Xin Zhou's analysis on spectral singularities in the context of inverse scattering.
In this paper, we investigate the one-dimensional derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations of the form $iu_t-u_{xx}+iλ\abs{u}^k u_x=0$ with non-zero $λ\in \Real$ and any real number $k\gs 5$. We establish the local well-posedness of the Cauchy problem with any initial data in $H^{1/2}$ by using the gauge transformation and the Littlewood-Paley decomposition.
A polynomial-in-time growth bound is established for global Sobolev $H^s(\mathbb T)$ solutions to the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation on the circle with $s>1$. These bounds are derived as a consequence of a nonlinear smoothing effect for an appropriate gauge-transformed version of the periodic Cauchy problem, according to which a solution with its linear part removed possesses higher spatial regularity than the initial datum associated with that solution.
Consider the initial value problem for cubic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations in one space dimension. We provide a detailed lower bound estimate for the lifespan of the solution, which can be computed explicitly from the initial data and the nonlinear term. This is an extension and a refinement of the previous work by one of the authors where the gauge-invariant nonlinearity was treated.
In this note, we study the ill-posedness problem for the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation (DNLS) in the one-dimensional setting. More precisely, by using a ternary-quinary tree expansion of the Duhamel formula we prove norm inflation in Sobolev spaces below the (scaling) critical regularity for the gauged DNLS. This ill-posedness result is sharp since DNLS is known to be globally well-posed in $L^2(\mathbb{R})$. The main novelty of our approach is to control the derivative loss from the cubic nonlinearity by the quintic nonlinearity with carefully chosen initial data.
We prove low regularity a priori estimates for the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation in Besov spaces with positive regularity index conditional upon small $L^2$-norm. This covers the full subcritical range. We use the power series expansion of the perturbation determinant introduced by Killip--Vişan--Zhang for completely integrable PDE. This makes it possible to derive low regularity conservation laws from the perturbation determinant.
In the present paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of the system of quadratic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations. This system was introduced by M. Colin and T. Colin (2004). The first and second authors obtained some well-posedness results in the Sobolev space $H^{s}(\mathbb{R}^d)$. We improve these results for conditional radial initial data by rewriting the system radial form.
We prove in this paper the global Lorentz estimate in term of fractional-maximal function for gradient of weak solutions to a class of p-Laplace elliptic equations containing a non-negative Schrödinger potential which belongs to reverse Hölder classes. In particular, this class of p-Laplace operator includes both degenerate and non-degenerate cases. The interesting idea is to use an efficient approach based on the level-set inequality related to the distribution function in harmonic analysis.
We consider the initial value problem for a three-component system of quadratic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations in two space dimensions with the masses satisfying the resonance relation. We present a structural condition on the nonlinearity under which small data global existence holds. It is also shown that the solution is asymptotically free. Our proof is based on the commuting vector field method combined with smoothing effects.
We consider the initial value problem for cubic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations possessing weakly dissipative structure in one space dimension. We show that the small data solution decays like $O((\log t)^{-1/4})$ in $L^2$ as $t\to +\infty$. Furthermore, we find that this $L^2$-decay rate is optimal by giving a lower estimate of the same order.
We study the Cauchy problem of the mass critical nonlinear Schrodinger equation with derivative with the 4pi mass. One has the global well-posedness in H^1 whenever "the mass is strictly less than 4pi" or whenever "the mass is equal to 4pi and the momentum is strictly less than zero". In this paper, by the concentration compact principle as originally done by Kenig-Merle, we obtain the limiting profile of blow up solutions with the critical 4pi mass.
In this note we consider the Schrödinger equation on compact manifolds equipped with possibly degenerate metrics. We prove Strichartz estimates with a loss of derivatives. The rate of loss of derivatives depends on the degeneracy of metrics. For the non-degenerate case we obtain, as an application of the main result, the same Strichartz estimates as that in the elliptic case. This extends Strichartz estimates for Riemannian metrics proved by Burq-Gérard-Tzvetkov to the non-elliptic case and improves the result by Salort. We also investigate the optimality of the result for the case on $\mathbb…
We prove that the 1D Schrödinger equation with derivative in the nonlinear term is globally well-posed in $H^{s}$, for $s>2/3$ for small $L^{2}$ data. The result follows from an application of the ``I-method''. This method allows to define a modification of the energy norm $H^{1}$ that is ``almost conserved'' and can be used to perform an iteration argument. We also remark that the same argument can be used to prove that any quintic nonlinear defocusing Schrödinger equation on the line is globally well-posed for large data in $H^{s}$, for $s>2/3$ .
We establish the global well-posedness of the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodic boundary condition in the Sobolev space $H^{\frac12}$, provided that the mass of initial data is less than $4π$. This result matches the one by Miao, Wu, and Xu and its recent mass threshold improvement by Guo and Wu in the non-periodic setting. Below $H^{\frac12}$, we show that the uniform continuity of the solution map on bounded subsets of $H^s$ does not hold, for any gauge equivalent equation.
Our goal in this article is to study the global Lorentz estimates for gradient of weak solutions to $p$-Laplace double obstacle problems involving the Schrödinger term: $-Δ_p u + \mathbb{V}|u|^{p-2}u$ with bound constraints $ψ_1 \le u \le ψ_2$ in non-smooth domains. This problem has its own interest in mathematics, engineering, physics and other branches of science. Our approach makes a novel connection between the study of Calderón-Zygmund theory for nonlinear Schrödinger type equations and variational inequalities for double obstacle problems.
We consider nonlinear elliptic equations of the $p$-Laplacian type with lower order terms which involve nonnegative potentials satisfying a reverse Hölder type condition. Then we obtain interior and boundary $L^q$ estimates for the gradient of weak solutions and the lower order terms, independently, under sharp regularity conditions on the coefficients and the boundaries. In particular, the proof in this paper does not employ Fefferman-Phong type inequalities which are essential tools in the linear cases in [3,47].

We prove the unconditional uniqueness of solutions to the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation (DNLS) in an almost end-point regularity. To this purpose, we employ the normal form method and we transform (a gauge-equivalent) DNLS into a new equation (the so-called normal form equation) for which nonlinear estimates can be easily established in $H^s(\mathbb{R})$, $s>\frac12$, without appealing to an auxiliary function space. Also, we prove that low-regularity solutions of DNLS satisfy the normal form equation and this is done by means of estimates in the $H^{s-1}(\mathbb{R})$-norm.
Let Omega be a non-empty open proper and connected subset of R^n. Consider p elliptic Schrödinger type operator L_{E}u=A_{E}u+V in Omega, and the linear parabolic operator L_{P}u=A_{P}u+Vu in Omega x (0,T), where the coefficients of A_{E} and A_{P} are in VMO and the potential V satisfies a reverse-Hölder condition. The aim of this paper is to obtain a priori estimates for the operators L_{E} and L_{P} in weighted Sobolev spaces involving the distance to the boundary and weights in a local-A class.
In this paper, we show the orbital stability of solitons arising in the cubic derivative nonlinear Schrodinger equations. We consider the zero mass case that is not covered by earlier works [8, 3]. As this case enjoys L^2 scaling invariance, we expect the orbital stability in the sense up to scaling symmetry, in addition to spatial and phase translations. For the proof, we are based on the variational argument and extend a similar argument in [21]. Moreover, we also show a self-similar type blow up criteria of solutions with the critical mass 4π.
We propose a priori estimates for a weak solution to the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation (DNLS) on torus with small $L^2$-norm datum in low regularity Sobolev spaces. These estimates allow us to show the existence of solutions in $H^s(\mathbb{T})$ with some $s<1/2$ in a relatively weak sense. Furthermore we make some remarks on the error estimates arising from the finite dimensional approximation solutions of DNLS using the Fourier-Lesbesgue type as auxiliary spaces, despite the fact that Nahmod, Oh, Rey-Bullet and Staffilani \cite{nors} have already seen them.
The Cauchy problem for the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodic boundary condition is considered. Local well-posedness for periodic initial data u_0 in the space ^H^s_r, defined by the norms ||u_0||_{^H^s_r}=||<xi>^s ^u_0||_{l^r'} is shown in the parameter range s>= 1/2, 2>r>4/3. The proof is based on an adaptation of the gauge transform to the periodic setting and an appropriate variant of the Fourier restriction norm method.
We study a derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation, allowing non-integer powers in the nonlinearity, $|u|^{2σ} u_x$. Making careful use of the energy method, we are able to establish short-time existence of solutions with initial data in the energy space, $H^1$. For more regular initial data, we establish not just existence of solutions, but also well-posedness of the initial value problem. These results hold for real-valued $σ\geq 1,$ while prior existence results in the literature require integer-valued $σ$ or $σ$ sufficiently large ($σ\geq 5/2$), or use higher-regularity function spaces.
We present analytical results and numerical simulations for a class of nonlinear dispersive equations in two spatial dimensions. These equations are of (derivative) nonlinear Schrödinger type and have recently been obtained in \cite{DLS} in the context of nonlinear optics. In contrast to the usual nonlinear Schrödinger equation, this new model incorporates the additional effects of self-steepening and partial off-axis variations of the group velocity of the laser pulse. We prove global-in-time existence of the corresponding solution for various choices of parameters, extending earlier results …
We give a sufficient condition for global existence of the solutions to a generalized derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation (gDNLS) by a variational argument. The variational argument is applicable to a cubic derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation (DNLS). For (DNLS), Wu proved that the solution with the initial data $u_0$ is global if $\left\Vert u_0 \right\Vert_{L^2}^2<4π$ by the sharp Gagliardo--Nirenberg inequality in the paper "Global well-posedness on the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation", Analysis & PDE 8 (2015), no. 5, 1101--1112. The variational argument gives us anothe…
In this note we shall continue our study on the initial value problem associated for the generalized derivative Schrödinger (gDNLS) equation $$ \partial_tu=i\partial_x^2u + μ\,|u|^α\partial_x u, \hskip10pt x,t\in\mathbb{R}, \hskip5pt 0<α\le 1\;\; {\rm and}\;\; |μ|=1. $$ Inspiring by Cazenave-Naumkin's works we shall establish the local well-posedness for a class of data of arbitrary size in an appropriate weighted Sobolev space, thus removing the size restriction on the data required in our previous work. The main new tool in the proof is the homogeneous and inhomogeneous versions of the Kato …
We develop inverse scattering for the derivative nonlinear Schrodinger equation (DNLS) on the line using its gauge equivalence with a related nonlinear dispersive equation. We prove Lipschitz continuity of the direct and inverse scattering maps from the weighted Sobolev spaces $H^{2,2}(\mathbb{R})$ to itself. These results immediately imply global existence of solutions to the DNLS for initial data in a spectrally determined (open) subset of $H^{2,2}(\mathbb{R})$ containing a neighborhood of 0.
